Just test by using various builds on classes and having 2 or 3 guys on various combos of classes damage you OP while you cycle through your skills and time how long you last on classes.
What I have read from other posters have don’t seem to take into account opponents.
My guess is a guardian is still better than others for bunking points if you just measured by how long a class can last.
Hey, he thinks like me I just don’t agree with the guard. Guards do way better in group bunk mode IMO.

Honestly there is another post about this going on already (What class can carry noob team the best). The answer to both is a bunker spec. As I stated there, it all depends on the enemy teams composition. Therefore best bunker would vary each map so there is no correct answer. Since you need to go in with the most diversity possible, I would say an Ele is best all around choice for hold in pugs. Turret engi with net/ thumper is also great hold for a while in the low lvls (ONLY) of PvP. A Cele shout war is also a good choice as a cele engi.
All around, do all pug status, I would say Ele.

Wrong. The answer is anyone who’s a good point defender. If you roam far and hold the point all match, wining 1v1’s and even 1v2’s, that build carries the team. I’ve done it numerous times on a burn guardian. I’ve seen it done with a hamwar and turret engi. Rarely will I see it with bunk classes. Bunk classes rely heavily on your team for additional support. If you have a bad team, a bunker can only do so much.
You are misinformed on what a bunker is. (I know not burn Guard) but hambow and turret engi’s are bunkers… Bunker Guard needs team support the most out of all bunk builds (not best choice to hold far solo). Turret engi and Hambow could work in the lower lvls of PvP due to all their CC and knockdowns. But as I stated before the best “all around” carry build would be an Ele. This is due to enemy team comp always different making the “best” carry class vary from each map. Ele could do a general job at carrying (with random teams on both sides) than probably any class. Since you can’t switch out without dishonor, that WOULD be your best bet.

I completely agree. I know Anet put the Llama out there to lure more players in, but they just kittened all their regulars off. I don’t think newbies vs veteran regulars is a good trade off Anet….. If you wanted to award the people…you should have announced it AFTER the season was over. So those that played hard could get what they deserve instead of having just a ton of new players in it to win it (which they won’t anyway but they don’t realize that).
When I started out playing i did a TON of hotjoins (they were way better back in the day). Now hotjoins are a joke so they have to go somewhere else to practice. This is where they should play unranked arena… but they don’t. Why play unranked when they have a chance at a mini llama!!! ZOMG MINI LLAMA. I wish they would practice a few hundred games before coming in but that is life…

All are always welcome to join the guild, more the merrier if you are tired of soloQing. Was primarily created as a PvP haven for people that left teams or out of guilds. Some of the members do a little bit of WvW too; but pretty much just PvP. Nothing huge but usually always at least 6 or 7 on that is PvPing (Better than solo).
Even once we get a firm team (if not you), you can always kick it with the rest of the fellows or possibly be subs. Want to create a second team among the ranks…knock yourself out.

The actual dishonor buff is currently turned off (why you havn’t noticed it if u DC’ed). Had issues when launched and disabled atm. You still do loose the points though on the LB’s

But the average players without a team would be playing each other in more balanced matches.
Players are players whether they are solo or in a team. Both solo and Teams alike will select the faster option. Maybe 50-50 as “use longer wait a few times” then get sick of it, or only have so much time left to play; then start jamming in faster Q times. Either way it will be the same thing no matter what. Nothing will have changed. Ask the Abjured if they would rather wait 20-30 minutes for each match or if they would end up selecting “faster” option. I guarantee they won’t say “The wait, all day”.

I will say that certain player’s mmr is false or poorly calculated. Mainly because of bad luck; getting put with a bad team and/or going against a premade. It’s why games with a 300 point difference happens.
One game I had two mediocre thieves. I was at far and got zerged. Told the thief to go to mid, instead he goes far and instantly dies. As nicely as I could, I told him to not engage a 3v1 and learn from his mistake next time. The other thief decided to 1v1 a warrior at our treb instead leaving to help else where, like a thief should.
A ‘higher’ mmr player can only do so much in these type games. It’s what we’re all experiencing.Summarize and solution in solo there are more bad players than good. That fact is clearly evident. It’s going to take x amount of games to list that person’s true mmr. In the mean time, you’ll have to endure and hope to win a game or two. Or forced to que later when bad-player-rushhour is over. I recommend a minimum of X amount of games won in practice, or, have a minimum of “average” mmr that reflects tpvp as a whole. Even setting a pvp rank 40 requirement would help tremendously. Right now _anyone_can join solo tpvp.
The same thief who 3v1’d admitted the fact he made a mistake. He then said “I’m not bad, my rank is 29”.

So he has been playing for a week. Cool. I think the problem is not the MMR, as the devs keep saying when looking at matches “Your teams MMR was in line with theirs”. I think the problem lies with the original system that determined the MMR and applied incorrect MMR to everyone. Then causing the MMR matchups to look good but in reality the MMR of X players should never have been that high. Or maybe the MMR of the top tier was lowered.

I still see many people that think they can swap characters before the game begins, when i try telling them they cant they argue me for some reason.
Anet needs to announce this or disable the ability to do so.
It was announced, a month ago and many times in between. Every time they logged in for the past month the announcement sits right there in front of them. If they choose to ignore it, let them. It is no loss to you as long as they come back.

You make it sound like the ready button is new. It has been there since launch. People don’t press it because they want to talk to their team and talk strat. Every match is different due to team comps and requires a slighty different strat. 90% you will never see me select ready BEACAUSE WE ARE NOT READY. Just saying… If you think everyone should just ready up instantly you are ignorant.

They should add 2 options when you queue:
1)fast queue – limited matchmaking, priority on time
2)slow queue -superior matchmaking but taking a bit longer
This way people can decide if they want to wait longer for a better matchup or play as soon as possible.

Cons: Given how the devs work this might be a feature in 2020.Can’t imagine this would work. The queue times for the slow queue would skyrocket due to low population. I have a feeling many times a match will never be found because the majority of players will lean towards the shorter queue. Only real answer to balancing wait time vs quality is number of commited players.
Exactly. People come on here and complain non stop about the match ups; but in the end, 90% would select faster option after waiting 20 minutes a couple times. That’s just how people are…never satisfied.

But it does look like he is playing with friends after….still though. None of this proves the people on your team isn’t a 4 man premade. If game can’t find 5 it will stick a 4 man team in there. Technically at that point, you are the only pug.

Look, here is how the matcher currently works:
1) Try to find a good match for a team for a few minutes.
2) Put anyone against the team after a few minutes.
That’s the problem. Right there.
It’s absolutely obvious.
Make the matcher wait longer. Maybe much longer.
I had a 16 minute queue this morning, I’m not sure what happened to the 8 minute max.
What were you saying about throwing anyone together after a few minutes? The window in which I wait is about 6-10 minutes typically.
Ya I think I was watching MagicToker stream 2 days ago and you guys waited a good 15 minutes or so. I think I then saw you give up again after that match and go unranked. I know the wait sucks n all but isn’t waiting for a better match up good?

The ONLY people complaining about this is the SoloQ players and again, the minority.
And the talented, dedicated, high MMR people who do not enjoy shooting “grey mobs”.
They hate it as well.
Only the high-MMR, organized “lawl teams” enjoy a blowout for more than a match or two. They must feel like they are talented or something crushing players who are new or clueless.
And how so yo know the solo players are the minority?
Maybe Justin can give us some stats on this.
Correct we do not enjoy Blowouts on winning either. It has got 10 times better on that end already. The problem is not the system, it is the players. There isn’t enough players in the Q to team up. If it waited until there was a sufficient match up the wait could be 30 minutes +. Eventually the system puts 2 together as close as possible. The ESL teams ALSO stated they don’t want to wait more than 5 minutes for a match…..contradictory if you ask me.

Yes, because your average player has all the time in the world to sit around waiting for a match. I don’t want to come across too rudely but a lot of us are adults with lives and limited time to play. We are the majority. You the are the minority the person that has time to plays this game for hours every day and has the time to sit around waiting for 15-20 minutes plus to get one game. Thank god A-net doesn’t actually listen to people like you.
+1 Correct. The match already takes 10-15 minutes to complete and with current wait time you can get done about 3 an hour (4 if lucky). Lets not double the time and force the majority of the players (people with jobs and/ or school) to be able to only play 4 matches a night…lol. Teh picture does not show nothing…..does not prove that the other team was a premade….and doesn’t prove anyone on your team wasn’t teamed up. Your pictures are invalid. Granted the first picture was an enemy premade (well known team), but how do we know the other 4 jokers on your team didn’t Q together?

Necro is a good class, but it is too easy to counter 1vs1. A half decent thief should be able to 1vs1 most necros and 2 players should definitely kill it pretty quickly.
If the Necro knows how to play, he can 1v1 anything with almost no problem. 1v2 noobs is a piece of cake as well. Theif should never attack a necro 1v1….you get rekt. IF the necro has zero life force, then the theif has a shot; but there’s no way to tell, so you don’t do it (2 LB’s = dead theif). I can’t tell you how many solo Q’s I go into as necro and take out 1v3 and cap the point. Newbs be newbs and they won’t stand a chance on a class that can put out a ton of damage fast.
I guess I haven’t met a necro that knows how to play since the dhumfire nerf then because necro is pretty much the only class I feel confident to kill or at least close to kill on my thief in a 1vs1. Other classes depends on their build. I have never seen a necro take out 1vs3 and cap a point. Maybe you were mistaking Mesmer clones for actual players?
LOL. Naw, was engi, ranger, theif on my latest venture. Secondly, you wouldn’t stand a chance against me 1v1 as a theif. You be lucky to survive 5 seconds and that is if you dodge roll twice.

OP is correct that it has to be messed up a bit still. I have a guy on my team who’s mmr HAS to be super low due to using a new account (not going to go into details). Another guy who is probably around the average and mine who is definitely the highest in the group. Together we all probably sit at just an average mmr (if not a little lower). Granted I do not mind fighting members of the abjured etc, but the system I don’t think should be throwing us in there. Was couple Abjured fellers and 3 of their friends on a team. First match we go 50-500. GG we played bad. After figuring out what went wrong and what we could have done A LOT better (10 min?) we Q back up. Same team, same map again lol. we then push em 400-500 ( honestly had a shot at winning but made some more crucial mistakes near the end). Either way we got points on LB for loosing (tells me our chances of winning were under 20%?).
It was fun (the second time around) and we learned from everything but the fact is, I don’t think we should have ever been there (considering mmr). Sorry no match time or details for review. I would like more practice against team around our mmr (same or a little higher) to get better and move our way up. Not just get thrown into top tier. We have been placed against other ESL top teams as well.

As for the OP, I would say a tank class that can hold off 1v2 for a long time at far(?) while the rest of the noobs struggle to go 4v3 and then eventually take the other point. It all depends on what classes the other team has, as some counter others hard. The go to carry all class would differ from each enemy team comp. Cele ele could probably do the job overall (if I don’t think of enemy team comp).

I would like to see it removed as well. Totally going against everything you are trying to do with matchmaking. At the very LEAST, make it “Play 1 match as X Class”. Win or loose you get the credit so they can leave and stop ruining kitten.

I guess this could be implemented somehow. Maybe after match starts you get dishonor for leaving (allows you to switch at very start only). If you are not back in game by game countdown = dishonor. Possibility.

Do whatever you want, eventually you won’t be able to play due to all the dishonor on your account and no team will have to worry about you being a leaver. If you are that worried about it, join a “team”. By that is as simple as saying your rank and class in map chat and someone will grab you. Then you can sort out the comp issue before Qing up. Friends will Q with dumb comps because they don’t care. This will always be true. If you don’t want to get paired with such stupidity, then grab more members. Every person lessens the risk of this. Q with 3 and hold the majority of the party comp.

The bug that causes random match prompts without queuing up (or previously causes match prompts when already in a game) is not fixed. My party member just got a queue pop when we were not in queue, I was afk at the time so he had to decline and he is now timed out due to dishonor. I thought the point of the no-dishonor period was to fix these things, but this is unacceptable. You are now timing out players who haven’t done anything wrong. I’m sure you can imagine how frustrating that is.
It is bugged with Q’s coming back after cancelled, but he should have accepted. If that happens to me, I am going into the match. My friend will just have to wait for me to return or play one by himself. Too many people saying, “I canceled, it came back, I declined, I have dishonor and now I am kittened”. Well you should have just accepted…… They will fix it but in the meantime, the only way to avoid your dishonor is to click accept.

That’s 1 match and 1 team that would actually not be placed together. So irrelevant. If that is the team that showed up then they are most likely Qued together and are not smart. I have solo Qed and been in a match where 4 wars, 3 rangers, 3 theives Qed together. You cannot account for stupidity and YOU changing you class is not going to help anything out; if your 2 rangers Qed together. So who cares at that point. Just play what you came with.

I can judge outcome of match just by looking at composition of teams. Making matches fair has nothing with cheating, especialy in such imbalanced game.
You can judge the outcome of games by team comp? Lol wow….I guess team comp is 100% of win vs lose. Skill is so 90’s. I missed a Meta. If you are so worried about your team being balanced….join a “team”. Simple as that. Can’t switch toons in tourneys…why here? Granted Anet could care less if you wanna switch toons or not; the fact is that the system cannot tell the difference. Can’t have dishonor but exclude people that log out. Log out = abandoning match = dishonor. Simple as that and no way to sugar coat it. System can’t tell if you log out on purpose or not and therefore you are punished.
Maybe when Anet creates a system that can read your mind, so it knows that you are for sure coming back into the match; then it can be adjusted to not give you dishonor for leaving. Welcome to GW402

I understand the logic behind what you are saying, just not possible. All you got to do is cap 1 thing (easy at start), decap a point (takes 3 seconds) or “participate” in a kill. There is always more than 1 exit to spawn and I am sure he could have found his way out to get a decap at least. I guess not always, but I usually notice right away when it 4v5 or 3v5 (way to easy to be true). I then check their points and make sure they all good before steam rolling. Sometimes the other team even says “farm us for fast end” and just keep feeding the “meatgrinder”.

If you don’t find PvP fun then why are you here? I believe there is a PvE forum. The way you are talking, the only thing that made PvP fun was because you could Q while in WvW or PvE? Lol…They want you back. Return to your people.
As for switching characters, no you cannot (without dishonor). Shouldn’t you be Qing with the character you want to PvP with???

@Demon it doesnt. It pritoritizes the boon which was applied most recently, which alot of times is might (1 new stack counts as new). And I agree we don’t need new sigils like the ones op is suggesting, this one is enough for boons, if anet wants to they can buff it though.
Mhm….Might is usually last applied as it is constantly re-stacking itself. There is no technical prioritization; besides last applied. Just like your condi-cleanse, last applied is first off.

don’t play ranked, if your internet service provider is having issues , dc’ing and rejoining consistantly causes more annoyance , i’d rather have a different person join than spending that whole match 4vs5 with one person dc’ing every 3mins.
Agree. It is obviously not a server issue or everyone would be having this problem. It is either your computer/ cables or your ISP.
6 minutes is too harsh. If someone in your party forgets to click while you’re talking to each other you all have to wait.
Make it 30 seconds. Then 1 minute. Then 3 minutes. Then 6 minutes.
So you are talking to them and you can’t remind everyone to click accept? “Hey Bob how was work toda….Q poped everyone accept”. 6 Minutes is perfect IMO for first offense. A good wake up call.

Well, first the Q bug needa be fixed. Second, you will never get credit for 0 points because then people will be back to AFKing matches. Usually you can just ask the other team to let you neutralize a point so you get credit and they are nice about it. I have yet to see a team 4v5 or 3v5 be kittens and say screw you. It’s not your fault and they realize that. We all equally hate the leavers

Yes because you are logging out. Log out = dishonor. Wouldn’t you be Qing with the character you want to play with……? No need to switch.

There was no dishonor before. So there is no way it could work like before. Doesn’t matter if you come back and play the match; you left (for whatever the reason) and so you get dishonor.

Besides the fact that for the past week the ENTIRE matchmaking system was turned off and slamming randoms together (Which the devs told you would happen until launch)…..So ANY system would be better for the week. Still complaining about the matchmaking system when it is turned OFF is the perfect definition of insanity. (Should be turning on as I post this).

Only about 5% of the SoloQ people we came across actual tried to help as a team and play into our strategy. That is just my experience.
solo queuers dont care, solo queue is about making yourself look good. not about working as a team. …in a team game.
Sounds about right lol. SoloQ is dead. SoloQ’ers needs to get the ME mentality out of their heads. I was never a SoloQ man and I didn’t realize that they were so selfish and unhelpful. In SoloQ you were still on a team and it takes a TEAM to win. Not sure how they missed out on all the team memos. (This does not speak for the entire previous SoloQ pop. Just 95%).

And yet another useless thread full of people who don’t read other threads first. ALL “crap” (old Solo Q) maps will be removed on the 16th. We are in between seasons and nothing you do right now matters anyway. Matchmaking is turned off right now until the 16th as well. If you can’t handle a couple weeks of crap, then wait it out 1 more day for all the changes to take place. 100’s of threads made on the same subjects that don’t even matter; because these things you hate are only in place for 2 weeks.

hey Justin. what makes the map not competitive is that spawn camping is possible and rampant! have you thought about adding multiple spawn points to the map?
it’s a fun map if youre with a team. consider adding more DM maps.
I joked with Hugh that we should put a big burning oil siege at the main exit.
We’re looking into serious ways to improve things, but it isn’t as high of a priority as the new game mode.
MUCH better. Thanks. I didn’t have to sit in the base long my last couple matches but does it still kick you out after so many seconds? If so I still suggest it only Kick, once all 5 members are in spawn for 10 (15) seconds. If they are letting 2 people bleed out the rest of us want to wait for them to die and re spawn. Instead, 3 of us get kicked out and slaughtered.
