I’ve got to give a great round of applause to everyone here!
It’s very true the more I come to think of it. It does begin with you or me where we choose to be the example so that others may follow and encourage others to adopt similar ideals.
@ Jayne a brilliant statement that cannot be commended enough! To create a well being community where you have to stand up to your ideals not to others and where if something is truly unacceptable voice your opinion! (Try to do it politely :P)
@ about thirty ninjas
Goes and does the same thing
@ erock Welcome to the topic!
It is truly great to come together with people that have the same mindset and ideas.
@ Noppy
I think our combine posts are making peoples eyes hurt…
Back on topic: Your post is very true games are meant to be enjoyed if your accomplishment involves steamrolling to 80 for the End Game I’m sorry but this is not going to the game for you.
Like Anet has stated many times: The game does not begin at level 80
I would like to end with Jayne’s fantastic post
It just starts with you.

Hey people I have another side discussion:
Reading one topic:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/Low-Level-DEs-and-Level-80-Etiquette/first#post346047
Fiennes brings up a wonderful point and would love your ideas about level 80 etiquette in low level areas.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together
This is a great point you bring out! One that will be discussed in my topic (I’ll be sure to credit you!)
This is a slight concern as I too (thought not lvl 80) have noticed that even downlevelled it still possible to breeze through content faster than a player at the appropriate lvl. It seems that your thoughts have been answered by many already and that auto attack and laid back attitude is the better way.
It is this sort of thoughtfulness in members of the community that is the main reason while I enjoy GW2 so much!
Enjoy what you want but keep the pwning on the back burner. :P

Okay so I’ll start off now!
Incoming: Wall O’ Text pt. II
@ akamon
Yes! I love it, when you’ve got a party so set on teamwork and co-ordination! Good to hear that everybody was helping out giving advice and what not. I really recommend that you lead a party next, it’s great at building leadership skills and I recommend to encourage teamwork and situational awareness at all times! (Yeah, sorry I’m making this seem like a teamwork seminar :P)
I too plan on getting some dungeon armour particularly AC heavy armour, however I do wish they had more of those medieval full helmets for example the Warden’s helmet from the CGI Dragonage Origin trailer.
It’s good to hear SoR has a good server community too and carrying on doing what you’re doing!
@ bri
Yep add it to the ‘to do’ list! It’s a great experience however you do have to go in there with an open mind!
I agree about paying attention to the map chat but sometimes we do forget it’s there.
May GH contains more serious players but can’t speak for that personally though but I sure you’ll find like-minded people, it may just take a while. :P
@ Oranisagu
Sorry, I personally can’t speak for that myself as have yet to participate in WvW. I can sympathise with you though, however it may be that WvW is very chaotic (From footage I have seen) and players can be very focused on a particular task and may not notice a downed player? This is something that I try to introduce to newer players as situational awareness is quite an important aspect in teamwork or a helpful skills in general.
@ Jayne
I think you should dive straight in!
On another note: It is up to us to create the community however it is very difficult to create sense of community throughout the whole server. This would be a monumental task to I commend the first server that accomplishes the feat!
It’s great to see some more posters on here and hope that more come to chat and the old ones come back!

It’s great to see all these posts! Keep ‘em coming! I have read the new posts however currently do not have the time to formulate a meaningful post that expands on everybody’s experiences.
However I do agree with all of you.
It is up to us to create a good and well-being community.
To me a an MMO is only as great as its community.
*Keep making this game great BECAUSE of its community. *
What a brilliant statement!
Just curious though Jayne what was the former MMO?
Once again, thank you everyone for a continued discussion!
Just you people wait for the next sequel of Wall O’ Text!

Sorry everybody, you should have deserved a warning about Incoming: Wall O’ Text
Hope many more people find out about this discussion and that you posters carry on posting with those brilliant ideas and comments of yours!

@ Fildydarie
You bring up very valid points yet again, LA/Race Cities are the main community HUB’s from what I have noticed but the newer player mainly has no idea how to access LA. True about city access as many newer player want to rush into the world and explore and I am also in agreement about the semi-mature community.
I do think the learning curve in general is very reasonable as there are tooltips (like you mentioned) and descriptions about skills. However dungeon gameplay is very different to what is experienced in the usual PvE envrionment. The learning curve of dungeons was what I was more focused about, however I am not stating/suggesting that players be given a complete guide on dungeon running as it is more fun to learn by yourself I find. Many complaining comes from the lack of determination for completion or reassessing a situation and adapting accordingly. My only irk was about cross-class-combos while when I was a new player did not know about, however it was something for me to explore and find out and started to gather more knowledge about when playing PvP.
Sidenote: Yeah, I definitely know how you feel, at the moment hopeful I get into Med School with some determination, graft and hard work! So GW2 has currently been on the back burner.
@ about thirty ninjas and takatsu
Love it that you people have been coming to a similar idea that I was having! My ideas exactly was to start possible tour guide for dungeons (currently I kind of am but no official organisation at the time being) However I thought that I should gather more experience in the game before touting off that I know more about the GW world than I acutally do.
If you people do start a tour guide I wish you all the best and really hope you do and succeed in your endevours!
@ bri
I understand what you mean, that most aspects of helping is from reviving and the such. However if you take time to chat to others more and most are happy to chat back. It’s very rewarding especially when you find the people that are truly greatful, then you can spend a few hours just grouping up together.
I thoroughly recommend doing a dungeon! They do require adaptation to the 1 shot skill mobs however if you play smart, take time to observe surroundings, assess the situation before executing a plan of action and adapt to possible scenarios you will do very well. It does take time to learn the dungeon behaviour, however if there are more experienced dungeon runners then you can ask for advice etc. more than most are extremely helpful and will provide great strategies.
I understand that you are not in the starting areas anymore, however when travelling back to your home instance it doesn’t hurt to have a little look around. :P
@ Drol and Fabsm
I understand your point very well, as I have experienced this myself. It can make you very reluctant to help another soul but carry on helping regardless! There are many more deserving people that will benefit from your selfless acts!
Just like the real world there are the greatful and the undeserving. Do not lose the attitude as it is part of who you are!
@ Noppy
Hahah! Don’t know why but the post made me chuckle, funny how a simple trip back to DR can lead to a 2hr run around in QD then of and out into the world! Like our fellow posters, keep the mindset! I say that doing the dungeon is veyr challenging at lvl 30 but doable! With a great team I managed to run Ac story at 28. (Picked up soooo many good tips along the way).
On another note I can also see how waypoint costs can discourage higher players to revive others do to travels costing a hefty amount. You may experience this over time.
I thoroughly agree, keep a good mindset and its’s great! The community will thrive on players like you and the previous posters, encourage teamwork and selflessness!
To create not just a community, but a strong one it will have to thrive on selfless acts that in turn will generate kindness towards others. Where acts are not just to benefit the individual but the many.
As time passes history will not remember me, but you, the people.

No further discussion ey?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together
I have to agree with Fildydarie (or whatever you would like to be called). I’m the type of player that loves to help people out. I find it fun and rewarding. At the same time, if I had a label it would be rather far from “hardcore”. I’m not interested in speeding through dungeons constantly, piling up gold, or any facet of rushing. I take my time and enjoy whatever I want to, exploring, goofing off, helping someone, wandering around. I’ve been 80 for awhile now, got all the gear I want, transmuted some stuff, but I have no interest in dungeon armor appearances and other similar things. Someone with a higher set of goals who is a collector or is aiming for the top spots in some aspect of the game isn’t likely to stop and spend time walking others through the things they struggle with. On the other hand, there are also the people who aren’t working toward anything, but just have a bad attitude in general, or think something like “I won’t help anyone because nobody helped me.”
Yes! That is exactly the mind set I also have! I’d love to get more other like minded people onto this thread, could turn into a briliant discussion that I really want to continue!
I also label myself as not part of the hardcore group. If people are willing to learn or need any advice I will try provided it in any way I can or try to find a more knowledgable other to provide the answer.
On the further note about a persons aspirations is also a very valid point. However if someone wanted to take a break from goals and achievements, a possible option could be to help others as it can be a very rewarding experience. (just a side thought to all those veterans out there! :P)
Bad attitude is another fair topic, however it is very hard to change ones mindset to things, I am the person who will not acknowledge such people as much and will give my help to those that generally need it. However I am willing to accept that a persons mindset will change over time. Last week I had one that was trying to go through a dungeon using the ‘usual MMO dungeon raid’ mindset. In this game the dungeons do not exhibit the usual behaviour, so adaptations to tactics and mindset have to be made. After much determination I giving constant advice to the player, the mindset managed to change after repeated defeats of the player they then were willing to accept the advice, admittedly it did take over 2 hrs…
I mean the community attitude overall I find is very positive. I do see the frequent answer to a question on the Map chat that is not given by myself, however that is all I seem to see, not the active helping of others in game participation (I hope the dream does become a reality at some point though) Maybe I am too naive or ideallistic but I have seem my bouts of random kindness, it’s just they are few and far between.
Thank you for the speedy replies so far!
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together
Yea, I see the point and it does explain a bit. However I have seen this for lvl 80’s as well but to me the events draw people together however once the event/event chain end then everybody just disperses back to their own little thing.
However I am not specifically on about Guild members helping each other, the question I was wondering was about others helping random strangers and the such. E.g when I was gathering tier 1 mats in Queendale I would distribute any class appropriate gear drops to players just starting the game.
The thing is I too am still leveling to 80. I’m just over halfway through lvling my first character getting to 80, I don’t know if it’s just habit from other MMO’s (sorry if I am mistaken) as other MMO’s tend to discourage playing together with likes of farming and killstealing. (Class GW2 as an MMO)
It’s just that this question has arisen through me playing the game for a while.
(Also apologies if I am sounding very patronizing, just reading the post back to myself it sounds like I am)
Thank you for the reply and look forward to a continued discussion Fildydarie.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together
Hey, people I know that the topic does not apply to anybody in particular and that I am not boasting about I’m more high and mighty then thou.
I was just wondering:
Q1. How come I hardly see any people helping each other?
It seems the GW2 ‘mantra’ is based upon people helping others, yet I hardly ever seen any proper acts of kindness etc. (Not counting swarming to events as helping each other) I mean actually taken time out of the day to help somebody with things.
This I happen to see a lot when doing dungeons. There seem to be many others wanting to do explore mode even when there is insufficient people to do so, yet there are others beginning story mode for their first time run.
It seems like: There’s no explore mode on. Why not help out?
Well I am not the most experienced/best player I regularly seek out helping others wanting to do story mode especially AC and enjoy helping others. I have made a few friends where we are beginning to do explore runs when we have the time.
This brings me around to my next question:
Q2. ‘Complaints’ about dungeons (even story) being too hard
This I can sympathize as dungeons are different and can be frustrating but if the more experienced began to help the less experienced then the learning curve becomes less steep. For example I lead players through the dungeon while providing general tips/advice and warnings. Then if we go through the dungeon again, one of the newer players will be leading while the rest listen. If anything goes wrong such as mass wipe I ask why this happened and we talk what could be done better. If all players are willing to listen it becomes a great and enjoyable experience.
Taking time out for others to experience dungeons is a wonderful thing, teaching others that dungeons are a whole new ball game and eventually you begin to love experiencing dungeons (Yes, I AM talking about 1 shot mobs WITH the copious amount of health :P)
I have always been on the Northern Shiverpeaks server and after the drama concerning NS I had the urge to create a community that helps its members.
So now, I am also trying to begin a guild where the purpose is to help others where it be stories or dungeons. With mind set that communication, teamwork and determination are what’s needed to form a community. (In game name: Warplayer)
I appreciate any and all who even bother to read this post, a small time out to help the little person is really appreciated and so I finish with this.
Take time to help your fellow person as you never know what will be done in kind.
