So what are everyone’s thoughts about this Ascension?

But more importantly what can WE do to do something about it?
It’s up to us if we want Anet to listen that we do not like such a change.

I do not want to be playing a WoW replicate or distant cousin, I might as well PLAY WoW then.

If I want content to be challenging I want it to be because of smart and resourceful play, teamwork, communication, planning and execution.

Haha! bri, that gets me everytime! Different variation but same barrel of laughs! I’ve even watched that film in history once but can’t look at it the scene the same way.

I believe a dungeon run event will be good now that the ‘Event’ is over. It’s a great way to level, earn gold and to get new cosmetics.

Good shout by omerk! 1900 GMT will be a good time as most of our EU buddies are on time by then. However shall it be on Friday, Saturday or Sunday… ???

Will we run a weekly session or an event lasting so many weeks before switching to something else?

You folks bashing on Blue and should try to read what is being posted.

From what I understand Blue’s tried looking for those wanting to start Tier 1 but no such luck, has then began to form a group but no-one is willing to join Tier 1. So this discussion was formed to understand why such a thing is happening. Seems very logical to me.

This is NOT a personal problem I’ve had many messages and conversations from others about being excluded for reasons of one or the other, many of them being lvl 80 or close.
I have began forming my own initative, where the ideals are to help others. Currently most have not touched Fractuals do to the negativity, this will be transitioned to at a later date but we are WILLING to begin Tier 1 even if we might be on higher Tiers.

Such exclusion should not happen, maybe a little work could be done to progress and get to the Fractuals but not constant and frequent play just to KEEP UP with progression. I sure WoW is a good game but I do not want it to turn into a replicate.
Many of us do not have time to play games all day and everyday, we all have more important priorities other than in-game life. I’m a college student and I don’t have time to play games to keep up with this progression if it continues. I and others in the same boat bought and enjoy this game as we can progress in our own time and pace. That I believe is the reason behind the source of uproar between the community, however there are those wanting things to be more challenging in PvE as most things are relatively easy.

Anet has to strike the balance to create challenging gameplay involving SMART PLAY and resourcefullness not by creating a gear grind.

Note this IS happening on other servers and it is not just isolted to Blue!

Then maybe it’s time?

This was for others that are being kicked when trying to participate in the Fractuals but ALSO discuss on how this Ascension is causing such a chasm between the community of the ‘elite’ and everyone else. I have been contacted by quite a few regarding such heinous acts.

I too am disappointed about the change but more so about how it is causing such people to act in such vileness. The old GW1 was amazing full of kindness.

The manifesto seems convoluted due to these recent changes which is also causing the uproar. That I understand.

As for a compromise I have had discussion with many about Fractuals and trying something to address it now. I alone cannot change the altering direction so I am trying to do the best about the lemons. I think they were trying.g to address the lack of challenge in some of the content and trying to compensate but I believe it is not the best course of action Anet could have taken.

I for one do not understand how we can quell the change as there will always be players participating for the elite gear. The only thing that may prove effective is a mass boycott this is one of the only things I can think of that will truly make a stand up and listen statement.

I am more addressing the increase of negativity of players towards others caused by the Ascension. I don’t know what I can do as a single person can do to stop the power creep.

If there is a movement I am all for it. I am currently addressing the increasing attitude of negative players towards others due to being contacted by others. What are your thoughts on the whole Ascension?

I am trying to understand the current foothold the player based has on the move.
If you want to start a movement start it and I may have others to join your cause. To me at hand I do not like the current attitudes of some players, this is what I am addressing first

Hello everyone. Glitch here AGAIN, but this time in another forum section.

Made amazing by the beautiful people of Union.

So I understand the frustration caused by The Ascension. I have had many folks contacting myself about issues of discrimination, griefing and racism caused by the Fractuals and Ascended Gear.

So I thought why not start Union with Fractuals?
So if anyone is interested about finding groups to enjoy the Fractuals content together. I believe it works the same as standard dungeons.

Therefore NA/NA servers can game and EU/EU may also game together.
This is also a frustration I myself have, I would say I am semi hardcore wanting to complete the harder content but do not have the time sink to keep up with this new elitism going at my own pace. (time issues are due to real life stuff and I know many in the same dilemma as myself)

So Operation: Union is in place to combat such community divides but cannot do it alone.

Our ideals:

To NEVER judge a person on regardless of skill or experience but based on who YOU are.
To continue and spread kindness, selflessness and respect
To hold a persons own ideals and support them in real life and game
To hold family ideals, to support communicate with each other
Understand we all have other things in life (We all have many other commitments in Union so all understand this concern)

If you feel like you are missing out on things just ask. (Hoping Anet gets guesting together so this is more effective)

This Ascension is truly causing me concern.

This will act as a hub for others to form Fractual if others will do so. To try to gather those that enjoy the presence of others and the challenge of Fractuals.

How do you feel about the new Fractuals like it or not?
What do you feel about the divide in the community it is beginning to cause?
Are you willing to do something about it?

I also agree that this silly mishap is causing a continual divide between the community.
We at Operation: Union are trying to build back a helpful community with the ideals of helplessness kindness and goodwill.

This in truth makes me slightly angry. Kind folks have told me the this new Fractuals has caused spouts of griefing, abuse, discrimination and RACISM! (I myself have very strong feelings towards the last one due to personal experience. Don’t worry I definitely stood up for myself.)

All sorts of silly nonsense. Have a look at my Sig. Makes you have a little faith in the community. Many of the more experienced go out of their way to lend a hand.

The barrier at the moment is the lack of guesting. When this comes we’ll get together more often. (We currently locked with helping cross server dungeons due to restrictions)

On a side note: Thanks for your service to your country and to all servicemen and women. I have much respect to people like you.

I currently have consolitis playing Halo 4. :P

Did anybody enjoy this Lost Shores event. I tried the earlier stages and was met with some disappointment; bugs, lag.

Apparently the later phases have been much worse. With the phase 3 battle being nothing short of horrendous told from many people. The first stage alone is either bugged or still continuing for most. Many calling this whole event FUBAR.

I don’t know, I’m kind of glad I didn’t actively pursue the event. Didn’t seem like I missed much. The only downside was I didn’t get to check in how everyone was doing this weekend in game.

I probably will seem everyone next week. I was too busy laughing so much about how people respected my ‘god like’ skills. Apparently people on console do not understand the terms of flanking, picking when to fight, continued movement and awareness.

I spent many laughs where people tried to cheeky take me only to find I jump over them and perform a cheeky assassination.

Playing console is a bunch of laughs. When you finally get used to using a 5700dps mouse then the max sensitivity feels like the slowest setting on a mouse.

How’s everyone else’s thoughts on Lost Shores?

Aurora Glade and Gunnar’s Hold are good if you’re an EU player.

Tarnished Coast (normally full though) and Sanctum of Rall (if playing pacific/American time) are good places too.

Have a talk with people there and decide.

As to the aggro thing noone is completely sure about this. Also happens a lot when with my bro. Can try and sit there face taking with my War but everything still chases my bro.

As stated aggro cab depend on a number of things can have a combo of all those things depending on enemy. We’ll probably never really know why somethings want to chase certain people.

Maybe on in a little bit. Still got consolitis.

Also I not that happy with what the event is causing. The introduction of this ‘Ascended Gear’ seems to have widened the chasm between the more hardcore and casual community.

I heard from quite a few folks and over at guru that players have began discriminating against those without Ascended Gear when doing the dungeon (to those thinking it is mandatory, it is only if you want to complete the fractuals at a harder difficulty/ survive the Agony condition. You can do fairly well without it though.)

Also there is now a larger number of cases about griefing, kicking, racism in parties and in general. This has lead to a decline in the awesome players we seek to reunite.

I also want everyone else’s thoughts about Anet’s decision.

I consider myself more of the semi hardcore (???) group. I enjoy organised play and enjoy tackling the hardest content in the game, even making new challenges such as never being downed in a dungeon with nothing but my skivvies.
However like the more serious ‘elite’ players (you know the ones) I too sometimes have my little year old tantrums at times like serious lack of teamwork etc.
This mores in other games not really GW2. Big thank to god that it’s rare now. You didn’t want me in the house when I used to play games when I was little!

I for one vow not to become like them. It is up to us to close the gap again. We are all mainly casual players with some more serious elements (sorry, pretty much all my fault! I got broken as all I do is run AC since I hit lvl 27)

I think the community is losing a little faith over this, truth be told I am a little skeptical too. It’s up to the kind hearted awesomeness of all you out there with same mindset that we CAN make a difference. The community lives and dies with us. I remember the awesomeness of GW1 nothing short of kind folks.

With the power creep I hope it doesn’t turn into a mix of WoW as many people came here to get away from that. I myself never liked those games and gave up very quickly.

I am really glad for finding an awesome gaming family with such gold hearts. I hope that our ideals never lose their way and we continue to be what I always thought we were, a family.

We promise to never turn away those needing help and never to judge a person by their casual/serious mind set. To welcome all those that hopefully share our sentiments and why not have a go at being part of something that truly wants to change the community for the better. This is all about respecting others like in life, respecting others for who they are not what they have. To me and everyone here, if you have the heart you’ll always be welcome even if you part ways.

Once the website is up and running and with guesting we will truly be a presence on all worlds. Until that time I thank the ones that have continued to stand right by each other. This has seriously become something I never even thought would be from one eye searing post!

Also am I getting big headed when I seriously hope that we are a presence on all worlds each with fairly big sub guilds in partner with Operation : Union?

Normally I’m on Fri to Sun at 20:00 to 11:00. However my uncle got me Halo 4 so currently struck with consolitis. I forgot how easy it was unleashing the pwnag3 on console kids.

I’m on still, as helping my bro lvl up his lvl13 War.

^ Wise sums it up perfectly.

It acts as a disausion to those thinking about moving for less honourable reasons such as WvW glory.

However it is quite sad for guilds that want to move server because of other reasons.
Having cross server is quite fun, having different branches. The biggest limitation of Union is the lack of guesting w/o that it’s slight turn off, with the introduction of guesting hopefully there would be more things like Union.

If you feel really compelled to move do so as I can tell you it ain’t that fun playing on a server you don’t really enjoy being on. You can steadily get back the influence as long as you run in a pair or more fairly regularly.

I’m glad I’m not judged.

I’ve got to say while my War is going from strength to strength, I’m slightly disappointed with Anet about the ranger patch notes. Not the overhaul that was promised, most buffs are very sub par even putting a extended delay on traps! I’ll just wait and see may have been a mistake but it wasn’t what you could call a major improvement.

I’ll still play my ranger but really like lvling my Guard as I want it to be like a Chaplain in Warhammer 40k. I always liked that concept, being a major support role. I came about with this thought as I used to paint a few miniatures when I wa little.
Might get back to them when I have more time. Always enjoyed painting things.

We can focus on dungeons after event or something? Or maybe even during depending.
Ranger I find is pretty decent for either a con build or dmg spike build. Focusing on using traps. I run a sword/dagger build. The lack of con removal is a bit annoying due to playing a War a lot.

To counter this I go for vitality type stuff focusing on bleeds+poisons. Playing a ranger you have to be very careful as most mobs can put a least 2 conditions on you fairly frequently.

My Uncle and Aunt bought me Halo 4… So I might come down with consolitis!
I played a tiny bit today to try put as I didn’t have college today.
Even with mated sensitivity it still feels slow. :P Used to mouse moving at 5700dps.
However I recently found out I still kick kitten on Halo l.

Also it’s not really me at the helm. Without many good people to help me this would have been a REALLY SLOW start.

I may also have an officers application sheet just so there is a more constant presence to talk to newer players and other people with questions.

Bri, Noppy, Lexy and Akamon, nottsgman and omerk do a brilliant job. I think a further organisation is in order cause this is getting a bit big.

Oh sorry Noppy I missed a boo boo. Bri pointed it out thankfully. In your set up you might want more fans. I assume that you’ve looked at the cases direction of air flow. I looked that case and it is recommended for having good air flow.

However I settled on an Nzxt phantom 410 (a full tower was overkill!) has so much room everything looks empty inside.

I agree with bri, a sound card is kind of a waste of space. The on on the motherboard is sufficient. In my experience having a sound card doesn’t have any noticeable effects. I just use some Turtlebeaches my bro bought me for my last birthday.

Yea a good 800-850 W PsU is good. My brother has 900 as he added a light show to case. (not sure it was vanity or an experiment, maybe bit of both.)

Also my brother’s going to be starting the website later on after he finishes his fluid dynamics assignment.

(I like dogs and wolves. Born in the year of the dog so is appropriate. Little nod to my heritage)

It will also be used for other games but The Legion of Honour will be the GW2 subsidiary.

Having trade offs seems like a good idea, I’ve got stacks of copper ore in my bank.

Noppy seems very good all round. I run a simple I5 2600k overlooked and a 560ti runs GW2 at 40~60fps.

Th only thing I recommend having a look at is the power supply. It depends if you want to get another graphics card anytime soon, recommending a 900W supply if thinking. (900 might be a bit overkill but allows for plenty of wiggle room)

All in all very nice.

Sorry Solid that part wasn’t very well phrased. But socializing is pretty important in the Mmo game, seems to me what Anet is leaning towards. Gw1 was pretty much a single player game to me except in some hub areas.

You forgot the second sentence. I’m sure you enjoy the game as it is wonderful. Just that there are a few people like this. The loneliness is more of a gripe from what I understand.

Just take some time out if this is something that actually does frustrate you.
However from my experience folks don’t carry on trying to make a connection with other folks. The thing is they never KEPT on trying. This used to get me down but now I’m running around with at least another person if not a full party/ 2 parties.

Seriously just get out there and chat with some random folks you come across on your journey. If noone tries then yes it is a single player game.

Why not you be that one to take first step?
I tried it now I’m always talking with 2 Canadians, quite a few Americans and Europeans and a great person from Hong Kong.

It ain’t a single player game if you don’t want it to be.

^ Unfortunately just in real life it might get a bit lonely.
Why not try playing more casually?
Also running dungeons is a good way to find people. I run as a sort of guide for AC (only tell them the strats when folks are stuck for a long time)

Why mother had over to Operation: Union?
It’s a pretty good way to meet others just give a whisper to some of the folks on there.
Many will be glad to help out. When guesting is involved the movement will be even more effective.

I understand this as well so started the big thread you might see from time to time. Through that I’ve met some awesome people to game with and just up for a good chat can really brighten up your day.

Some are more active then others but there are quite a few on the weekends.
We got folks from all over the place America, Europe, Pacific etc.

Take some time out and just do something else. Don’t carry on doing something you don’t enjoy, it just leads you to hating it even more.

That’s cool I can’t wait for Lost Shores!
The one event this gripe me but don’t mind too much if it’s just a cinematic like MK in LA.

Can’t wait to see some more armours! I’m hoping for some knightly full helmet, kind of like the Dark Helmet but without the horns.

@Kaii Haha maybe it has a lot to do with designing a website? He’s pretty good at it.
bri also knows his way around tech so can probably put out some suggestions too.

We’ll probably have a test when it’s up and talk about ease of use and accessibility.

Also the website will most likely be built over time. This is as my brother’s priority is his Mechanical Engineering course. He’ll get around to it when he can but don’t worry it be there!

Many folks do not use keys 6-9/7-9 as like you said it is very clumsy!
People like me bind 6-9 to other keys such as C,X,Z. Many also have multiple buttons on their mice (I recently got one for an early bday present)

About not seeing the cursor if you hold the right mouse button this cause the cursor to disappear allowing you to control the direction the character faces. (This is an advantage as allows for faster turning compared to the default A+D)

Don’t worry about getting flamed or worrying about feeling silly asking questions.

There are quite a few NA folks wanting to dungeon run. Akamon, Jia and such.
Dungeons work cross server but is restricted to either NA or EU only servers.

If you play on Pacific time maybe Sanctum of Rall is a better choice?

Yea, I really enjoy that about RP players. You have a much bigger appreciation of all the landscape, sometimes I have a habit of blitzing past things without really appreciating all the hard work put into the landscapes and natural vistas (not really talking about the points.)

This is pretty cool. Op: Union’s for bringing everyone together. Sure you don’t have to represent but it sure cool to meet others because of it.

@Kyouhei, on Gunnar’s there are a lot of folks that are willing to help. There server is densely populated but with minimal queue times.

If you are looking for great people to game with I can recommend some. (Lexy being one of them!). Awesome people such as Lexy are always willing to help you out.

WvW on Gunnar’s is fairly active ranked between the middle tiers.
If you look more for the friendly and social side leap into Gunnar’s and I don’t think you’d be let down.

I understand what you mean. Sometimes if you really enjoy some aspect of the lore there may not be a part on your server to really get a detailed explanation of the lore. I don’t know sometimes you think the server IS cool but may not click for you.

@Kaii do what’s best for you. It is a very good social server, but apparently it’s getting kinda long to wait for a space. If that doesn’t matter go right into it!

I’m not sure if all instances are like that but it would be pretty cool and I think it might be probable as the story happens in an isolated section.
