For UK I recommend either Gunnars Hold or Aurora Glade but nice communities I think Gunnars has one of the most friendliest and helpful players.

Hey ryokojr

If you enjoy AoE why not try an Elementalist? Fast to level up and is pretty fun to play a mage close combat using twin daggers. Can kill very quickly but you have to be slightly careful in melee.

A Warrior is also a sound choice. You can build a signet warrior that can level up very quickly in PvE. However is more suited to high single target damage.

Any items in the guild bank will be present once the guild bank has been built on the new server.

At the moment the guesting feature is not available. This is due server population not being balanced (Yea don’t ask me I have no idea what that means either)

If you want to game together you will have to set up an agreement to join either your or your friend’s server at this current point in time.

The point of creating this particular thread is that I have notice either newer/current players looking for others to game with.

That’s pretty cool I’m a little way off at the moment to level 80.
Hmm… you may have a point on higher level content, is it more the difficulty of the actual content that makes others band together? Or is it just generally more sociable?

Yea it’s kind a bit silly how hot-join is set up.

1. After a match ends you a presented with the scoreboard etc. However there is period where players can still continue to play for a short period. (I’m not sure if kills actually contribute to the players personal score still after match end)

To me that short period is like a bonus as I do think it contributes to your glory score etc. when you leave.

2. After you are queued the match begins again, I afraid the only way to my knowledge is to leave and the team will be a person down.

The hot-join just continues to loop in a cycle till you stop and hop off.

HOWEVER! I know an armour with a similar skin to it.

In Halacon Cataracts, Kessex Hills. A vendor named Sergeant Yarbrough (Karma Vendor) does sell items called Seraph-Issue armour that has that sort on armour. Go check it out and have a look.

What Wiser With Age points out is extremely valid and I recommend that you really take this into consideration.

What type of guild do you want what sort of mentality do you want in your group?

If you want an uber mega guild with lots of people it will not happen over night. However tbh it seems most of the filler is from players who just want to say they are part of the 1337 guild #104 for boasting rights however from my experience the players are not very dedicated to actually helping the guild. The player base may be big but it isn’t what I would want my guild to turn into imo.

Like Wiser With Age I’d rather have trust, honesty and loyalty then members.

It could’ve been hard to see with the sudden surge of great new posters here.

Like many have said, I personally would advertising guild recruitment is one of the worse things to do. It not only angers others generally as it prevents from questions asked in map chat that could be answered and generally the map chat can be used for something more productive other seeing the guild advertisement.

Just get out there first!
To even attempt to create a guild you need people, what better may is to start off with a friendship. After that go help them on quests, or just chat and KEEP that connection!

Only then can you consider starting to think about properly forming your guild.
Like many have also stated the BIG guilds are due to other fan bases which come from all sort of backgrounds, _they have already established themselves and already have a following so recruitment is not a problem for these sorts.

However sorry to put it bluntly, you are not one of them (if I am not mistaken)
You and me, we first have to make some friends, some people that share similar ideals. Create a close knit group and then you can start to form a guild.

Note:
1. Make an effort to talk to people on a 1 to 1 basis
2. Keep a connection and do not ignore your new friends
3. Ask for their opinions on forming a guild, they have to be WILLING to join such a group
4. Only then can you suggest recruitment into your guild
5. Do NOT give up!

@ Maklin Okay now to address your choice of communication question. The answer truly is no you don’t have to use third party chat. I’ve always lead first time runners using ONLY the party chat. Sure it might take a bit longer and is not always ideal talking mid fight. :P

If you plan accordingly before the figh it will be fine, as long as you state what the plan is it’ll work out okay. I only use teamspeak just to generally chat with him and just happens his friends also have teamspeak.

If YOU don’t like it you do not have to use it. Regardless of what others say,you CAN run dungeons ex. Without teamspeak.

I’m proof that it is possible as are the others that do it or ran a dungeon with me.

Also Maklin about thirty ninjas and Jayne are on TC why not give them a message? It’ll better just having someone else to talk to while you explore.

To Maklin I or another will answer your question on choice of communication more thoroughly. I however should currently be asleep! This kid still has school to go to!

Maklin NO! You really don’t have to change your opinion. I’m deadly serious. If it is something you don’t really like no you don’t have to use it. You should be free use whatever means you wish.

I only use teamspeak because my bro set up a server. Sure I suppose it is handy not having to type while fighting but if you plan accordingly beforehand it isn’t necessary.

Maybe in time you may reconsider but no I am not here to change you or anybody elses mindset.

I’m not sure this is the best advice but it is the one I have had most experience with.

Stand outside the dungeon that you are trying to help others with. I’m not sure if you are advertising help in map chat as it is not the most effective. It is easier to relate to others if you chat face to face. Sometimes it is hard to miss messages in map chat.

I find that this is best way for people to come to you for help.

You can try this technique and may provided you with more success.

I have made the move from Northern Shiverpeaks to Aurora Glade

This is just due to me being from UK playing on the American server at off peak times. To all on that server thank you for your kindness and keep at it!
I will begin to start recruiting at a later date for a cross server guild. Or to make it a community guild.

Time to take a hold in my new homeland.

I don’t see what harm there is as long as it is a well constructed and backed up with actualy evidence and facts to support your case.

I myself do not know the ins and outs of hacking anymore as it is past me (used to learn from my Dad. :P)

If you are very knowledgable in the field I do not understand why they won’t take some points into consideration.

The worst that can hapkitten the topic becomes locked or deleted but it probably will not happen if it includes the before mentioned. I am sure Anet is working on how to counter a lot of problems as they do have a lot of issues to sort out at the moment. The game is still in its infancy so is bound to be hit by lots of problems. Over time hopefully the more important issues will be sorted.

On a serious note. It’s great to hear that Tungdil ! It’s good that you’ve joined a guild you enjoy and that you’re spreading the ideals. HOWEVER this code is NOT the ideals of those on this topic it is the ideals of a family. A community dedicated to like minds and selflessness.

I don’t see why we ALL can’t own part of the guild. With management of the different servers we are on. Have a council for each server ?
If it does build into something bigger have a separate guild for each server ?
BUT try to keep in contact with each other with updates on guilds etc.

I was just suggesting as I already had a guild set up with(kinda) :-)
First though I really think that we have keep as a family atm supporting are trust and friendship ideals. :-)

Hey everyone. It’s good to hear there are people looking for others and play as a group. However it is very hard to form a group other than for dungeons. The option is either join/form a guild for such purpose or ask in map chat. Currently there is not much accessibility to form groups simply for exploration.

I recommend meeting in a specified location one well know such as Divinitys Reach. This is how meet up with friends wanting to group up.

I this is the sort of attitude I like to see. Such things will also be discussed on my topic Helping New Players/Helping New Players With Dungeons. I’d be honoured if you drop in. :-)

Or maybe take a time out and see if the server community matures?
It is very disappointing that there’s abuse on your server.

Sorry I don’t have any ideas other than what Jayne suggested.

Yes both do have passive healing either through signets or virtues.
I know you can spec the war for Signet of this Healing granting health regen when not activated.

Guardians are more study BUT only if you use it’s full weapon set not just snb.

Wars have good survival from Endure Pain and Block etc.

Not sure at the last question but wars are good tackling mobs efficiently.
You can go for a full signet war build but IS NOT RECOMMENED FOR TEAMPLAY.

It is a selfish build only good for solo pve until lvl 50 to 60.

Thought I spare my 2 cents. I am primarily playing SnB Warrior. It is very viable! I mainly use SnB during dungeons.

Yes, from what I know only Warrior and Guardian can be SnB.

The classes depends what you want from yourself.
Warrior is more about damage prevention to yourself and can be used slightly more aggressive imo. Sword contains mainly combo finishers and has a cripple skill. Where Shield skills are shield bash and block. Not overlook it CAN be used in teamplay as the block will prevent damage to others standing behind the blocking warrior (from my experience)

A Guardian is specced more to protection to others but is very versatile. With Sword skills such as Zealot’s Defence able to deflect projectiles. There is an Aegis that allows blocking of one attack per 15 seconds(???)

Warrior and Guardian are your only SnB options. Feel free if you need more information on an SnB warrior however I do not a have sufficient knowledge of Guardian profession.

Events!
Events are a great source of income even when just starting out, a few copper quickittenurns into a good deal of money.

Trading Post.
This requires simple maths calculations as when deciding to sell an item on the TP remember to multiply the sell value by .85 to calculate ACTUAL profit. (This is due to initial charge for posting and charge taken from selling item)

Customise offers do not just sell either at highest buyer or lowest seller prices. Set it slightly below lowest seller and profit. (Note: This require patience and a nack for when buying and selling)

See that is what I assumed, you came across as a very well manner person in the first post so was quick to dismiss the idea of you just ranting and raging.

It is true, respect is a two way street. It is possible that the phrasing of a statement can bring aggrovation due to many different interpretations from others.

The way help people understand your views is mainly ALL in how the arguments are phrased. However when people due say FHGRW! This X sucks many are quick to anger but a different approach needs to be taken. Why is the person saying this?

Do they have a valid reason? Y/N?

Y: Then try to explain why X is actually a good idea etc. but constructing said counterpoint in a reasonable manner.

You seem like one who began with the same mind set as myself and others on this topic but it has been tarnished by activities you have stated and the thing is?

I wholly agree, the bots problem is beginning to escalate into a major problem as I have seen mass bots activity around Queensdale. You expect Anet to deal with such problems due to being supposedly experienced in these sort of issues. However they do deserve a chance.

I do not know what server you were/are playing on but when you state very valid reasons that do need addressing you are flamed and abused! That is not part of the community I like to associate myself with and that is very regrettable.

The point with GW2 being anti-social: This is true. You can go out run to an event, complete said event and go race off without even having to talk to anyone. Rinse and repeat. (This maybe a mind set of the many/few that I do not know)

However, an effort has to be made to break through the anti-social barrier and to begin talking and communicating. It has to be made by you and me
I stress, begin by BEING that example eventually people begin to follow.

I fully understand AND agree with your post.
But we as an individual have to break down these barriers to form a resemblence of any sort of community. It will always start with a minority, but if the determination is strong enough then ideals begin to flourish.

I hope you do continue to state your view on this topic Thunderstorm I would like to try to understand why players have become disappointed/unappreciated/unvalued? and how experiences can be used to form a better understanding of community.

Thanks everyone. Yea it was kind of a minor set back. However we tried the next day and everything certainly seemed to go better. After some explanation to my bro it was getting better e.g using the guardians many protection skills to mitigate projectiles and it ran more smoothly. Teaching how to look for combos and the benefit of them. He finally completed his first AC Ex. :P

I wouldn’t say it was his fault. As I was not explaining it well. He assumed I was the better player due to my supposed superior knowledge however it was just becuase I took time out to fully learn all skills and utility skills and understand how the class worked. However it made a big point to really try to understand your class fully.

It’s great to hear more of your experiences Noppy and akamon. I am truly dis heartened it was only a short response Noppy.

As for the Guild…

I think it’s a GREAT idea. I would love it make one into it. It was originally my idea. A cross server guild just for helping others where people can come to seek advice, help and like minds would be brilliant. This is what I hope to aspire to given time. I would love you any to try and make this a reality as it is not me that makes a guild but others.

I have already established a guild but it hasn’t taken off yet due to my lack of organisation due to studies for getting into med school. However if you are interested send me a pm and I will get back to you on the matter. The guild I have at the moment is The Fourth Legion intended at first just for me and my bro for more bank space.

However I will admit full administrative powers to others that are TRULY INTERESTED in making this idea a success. I will help when available. I was also thinking of an armoury for basic equipment for new players. That either return equipment when it out grows them etc. or provide raw mats to replace them.To the faithful posting on this topic will be a great asset if it is possible to get together and start this guild.

Also note I do understand that you all have lives and constant dedication will not be possible. The ideals will not be like guilds like pro gaming guilds as we all have other commitments.

I want this to be that the guild does not limit players to be guild loyalty out of ‘necessity’ but for players represent the guild because they choose to. (I again fully understand many have different guilds for different things, but it would great to have everyone all under one roof. :P)

Okay folk, this is turning more into a blog and a topic discussion. :P

But here goes:

Warning: This is my most despised moment of GW2 to date, however I have learned from this experience

Last night I had one of my most despicable moments. (It ended up with me and my brother arguing between each other, NOTE NOT to the rest of the group)

I was running a dungeon with my brother and 4 other people, all in all it was a PUG group. It’s was Path 1 of Ac Explore (One of the easier/ middle difficulty paths). It was all going okay until the beginning of the burrows where the task is protecting Hodgins. The group listened to my advice however when we were struggling on the task different strategies were tried but to no avail.

A player recommended that we kill Lt. Kohler for the closer waypoint (As I decided against it at first as we struggled very hard against the bonus Troll who with observation and attrition is actually fairly easy to take down). Finally Lt. Kohler was attempted where I advised them of the pull and what it’s tell was and how to avoid it etc. We continued to get hammered and wipe.

This is where some began to leave not due to continued failure but having to stop to go to work etc. As we continued me had spent about 2 hours at this Lt. Kohler/Burrow stage where we decided to call it quits.

After much arguing with my brother etc. it was evident that there is a possibility that players who get smashed at Explore mode do not full know their class and skills, when to use them and what skills to use for a certain encounter etc.

My brother has had x4 the amount of play time compared to me so assumed that he should understand the mechanics of the played class. However that seemed not the case.

So final words are to those reading this:

1. Read the description of all weapon skills and utility skills

2. Learn how to use skills appropriately in given situations, I understand this comes with practice and time and that some may learn quicker than others

3. Try to understand other classes abilities and try to understand the cross class combos as soon as possible, this really helps in the long run

4. Note: What is poor in solo PvE can be extremely efficient in PvE Dungeons
