Ahh, things like this make me sad. I can say I must be pretty lucky as I experience this sort of behaviour very very rarely. Most of the players I help are very grateful and for some reason am entitled to some sort of favour when all I like to do is help .

As always it’s about human nature but sure Anet can implement a better system to avoid this sort of stuff?

Some more player recognition would be nice as at the moment, you’ve completed your personal story and it’s meh, move on with the rest of the world. No credits? Pretty anti-climatic compared to GW, then again I felt the story wasn’t as well written or made as it could be.

My apologies Orpheus if my post came off harshly, I am mainly to the point so I understand if my posts can come off as insensitive. I personally do not see it as a challenge.

This is a place to hang out. However I may have taken you wrong interpretation from your reply. The ‘guild’ was a way for players to more easily communicate and help finding others kind of like a LFG tool for general PvE as many players cannot keep track of the way this thread moves so quickly. We have over 1k+ posts in 4 months. Would you be willing to sift through the 24 pages to find potential players to game with? Sure at the beginning it was very easy but as you can see it is just not possible anymore.

It just doesn’t feel challenging and there’s no element of surprise if I chose to join routine dungeon runners (too easy…i want to feel pressured or panic). I didn’t think it would be this difficult since I don’t need to find 4 of such people because I already have a close friend and my girlfriend at lvl 80 that can play almost anytime.

First part:
First part of the quote is why I’m not sure if we have the same mindset. This is pretty much a ‘charity’ we are charitable people here at Union where we help others not because it may be right to but because it is in our nature to. Everyone in Union has the exact same attitude, we do not expect our work to be rewarded it is our nature to help those who ask and those who deserve.

The second part:
To me it seemed you were looking for a challenge aspect only. As running a group with news only would make it more difficult for you. This is the part that I do not get, are you looking to prove yourself because new’s are more likely to fall apart in situations where you’ll be the hero? Or were you genuinely happy to run dungeons with news and to take them through slowly so they begin to understand the mechanics and discuss the works. I spent 3 hours on an AC story run as the players didn’t understand why I did certain things and why I was doing ‘better than them, soloing the mobs while they were waypointing’.

If you would like to explain to me what you’re trying to accomplish I am more than happy to listen. I take most things at face value as I do not like way English can be interpretated in many different ways. Maybe if you explain it as you would to a child I’d understand it. (I’m being serious, I like my words plain and simple)

It has been a gathering of like minded players becoming successful due to the finding of many helpful and kind hearted players however we do NOT cater for things players may seek us out for. We cannot simply bring everyone to the fold, we have our ‘type’ of players and I recommend players to different places as we simply do not fit what they want. If I can direct them to something else where they’re happy I’m glad as no-one plays a game to be miserable.

If you do not reply, I do wish you good luck with what you are doing and that your endeavours succeed. I do believe this has been a misunderstanding.

As Kaii stated, we are a commitment. The help does not just stop at helping people through dungeons and that is it. Furthermore we help because we can and we enjoy doing so, we do not help people with dungeons just because it provides new challenges to further an INDIVIDUALS skill.

I help people through dungeons because it is fun to do so AND I enjoy the satisfaction that players had fun completing their first dungeon run. I’ve run AC story/explore hundreds of times, why? Because it’s fun watching players being really happy that they’ve completed their first dungeon and it provides an attitude that maybe dungeons aren’t a big massive death trap. Furthermore I will also mentor others that would also like to lead dungeons. Not to further a superiority complex but so that they too can help others through dungeons such as I have.

If you are only looking for a challenge:
Run a dungeon with no armour, no trinkets melee only without downing and/or try to solo a dungeon/or enter 10 lvls below recommended. Possible but pretty difficult. (You can do this for CM)

We appreciate help with taking newer players through dungeons however if you are looking for a challenge you might want to look elsewhere. If you are genuinely wanting to help improve players dungeon game then we’re all for it.

I’m just not sure if you’re just looking for a new challenge for a while then to move on for a new one. Just looking out for the Union so I want to make sure. Hope yo understand.

For a serious dungeon guild, you ideally want The Navy/Fascism method ( nicely coined term)

If you want to have those really efficient runs where everyone has their place with total synergy, ideally go Fascism. You need the ones that will hardly ever make mistakes. If they can’t do that they won’t make the cut. Sure it’ll be slow progress but as said you get the best of the best.

A serious team will be barking out orders expected to be followed to the letter, pretty much military rule.

1. You will need to be cautious about. Sure you’ll have a large influx of numbers but if you’re getting everyone and everything you’ll be getting all sorts. Be careful with this as a guild can easily fall apart before its even started.

You’ll want to keep close watch for any signs of chaos.

I’m pretty good at Chem, Bio and Maths. Not sure if I excell in a particular bit though. (Maybe maths) English… I got really good grades on it but… Frak! Use simple words! I’m a man of simple words.

We all have a place where we excell at JJ and should be proud of it!

Calculus is actually pretty interesting, it’s easy when you’ve got an Mech Eng for a brother and a Physicist for a Dad.

Real life application of Calculus is actually pretty cool, not just something to do in class. :P

I’m not sure. Being a surgeon requires a steady hand and knowledge of your specialisation. I’m really good at operation so I’m half way there.
I don’t why I always thought peeking inside the human body was cool… I think too many family friends being surgeons may have contributed…

Also for members not using Vlawde’s awesome forum, I recommend using it or your version of GW maybe riddled with bugs…

Also it seems that the supersampling can but a cap on your fps for some reason. If it’s not already having it on normal sampling (whatever the medium setting is) will for some reason stop capping.

I find Calculus pretty nice some parts pretty interesting, I have to work with both degrees and radians; either is fine.

It’s pretty easy. Though I see the rules pretty much the same where everybody else doesn’t…

Ah that’s kinda cool. I dunno I never pay attention to the pvp armour and just stick with the old stuff.

I know you can dye whatever when outside matches but in matches does the blue and red colour everything still? I haven’t touched spvp since the update as doing dungeons.

Yes I normally just get the cheapest ones to increase the chance of Uni Dyes.
I don’t really care for pvp armour as I don’t pay attention to it anyway due to the blue and red colouring everything.

This one’s been asking for donations and created at least 3 threads for donations for their legendary. At least their not asking anymore.

Once the first one gets their legendary what’s stopping them from walking out? You don’t know what the people in the ‘guild’ are like. Are they there genuinely or for personal gain? So you will need more members to support the others for their legendary.

Skeptical me is thinking = Pyramid Scheme.

Players that I KNOW have helped me deserve my help. Not some random stranger asking for free tier 6 mats.

Make the guild for folks getting their legendary to organise a schedule like one of the above posted to make it less boring instead if asking for handouts.

I wonder if I’ll see Awesome and the others here soon.
Just get the legendary solo like many others, it doesn’t even take that long in MMO terms.

It depends on what sort of style you go for. E.g if you are all about condition damage and sustained damage then you will not need crit or crit dmg as your primary source is to stack bleeds or whatever to create your dmg.

Kaii does bring up an interesting point, sometimes it maybe preferable to sacrifice crit chance for either more toughness/vitality allowing you for more room for error or survive those condition stacks with a larger health pool.

What bri talks about does make sense if you want to do high burst/spike dmg. However you will have to be on your toes. Normally with a glass cannon you will have a smaller margin for error where accounting for 1/2 direct hits may end you.

If you want to do dungeons a glass cannon build is not very viable. It IS possible to play but you have to be very keen when it comes to situational awareness to survive. Active defending is key but any mistake will lead to a down. I have seen countless cannon thieves or rangers expecting their build will work for dungeons but they do not for most occasions I have seen. The PvE is trivial compared to the one shot mob mechanics of dungeons.

You can play glass cannon builds in PvE very easily. Dungeons have some toughness so you can have more room for error. Once you have your class down you can go full glass cannon but you can do explore dungeons without any armour and not go down. Dungeons just needs awareness of teammates and situations that’s it.

I agree it is a balance. Having a balance to anything is quite important. Pretty much everything to be a good human being is pretty good.

When we get a website up I may organise a total reboot of ranks. Just a heads up, I will begin to implement Helequin’s ranks more fully. My instinct tells me there will be more growth and I should really organise this a bit more. Yes I will sift through this entire thread so our dedicated members will not be tossed aside and will be rewarded accordingly. As well as our helpful veterans that have helped all the newcomers.

Oh yea I forgot about NSP. Good server community there too very helpful, I was a former NSP player but moved to a more suitable EU server.

NSP or IoJ are great servers that I can recommend for you. Very helpful bunch of players! I can get you in contact with some very nice players on IoJ. NSP not so much but I think there are some on Union.

Well either one I don’t think you’ll really regret either if you are look for a good community in mind.

The ‘guild’ is located on many servers. Aurora, Gunnar’s, IoJ, SoR, TC etc. To name a few.
At the moment we cross server meet up in overflow or frequent dungeon runs to see other players. We’re a bunch of folks all over the shop!

We socialist and help each other with things. We explore and meet up if and when we can. Lack of guesting ain’t stopping us!

TMNT is awesome I recommend not changing it, put down claws in your Wintersday wishlist.

May I ask what sort of time zone you are in?
(Talking about American time zone not world.)
I recommend with Isle of Janthir/ Sanctum of Rall. Great places if you’re more for community. Sanctum I’m not so sure it is initially an NA server but most players I know are on the Oceanic time zone.

If you choose Isle of Janthir it’s got a good community.
I can put you in contact with players from either server if you also would like some players to explore with. Players I know on IoJ and SoR are all fairly active.

Good luck, finding some good players might be a little tricky but well worth finding!

I could ask around if you want. Most of the lot do stuff together, mainly in 3 to five people teams atm. Would be more if we had guesting! :P

Why not go on Operation: Union? There’s a lot of folks over there from different servers. Quite likely there might be people on your server to explore with.

You’re right the game is more fun with others, sometimes it’s kind of tricky finding the right people though but when you do it’s so worth it!

I run AC story and explores helping new folks. I haven’t gotten around to exploring topside much. I’m an underground troll most ofhe time.

I blame all of you lovely people for creating such a fantastic atmosphere and gathering more people to the cause!

As for the graphics I find them new and interesting. The landscaping is amazing better than most. As for the graphical improvements it’s better eyecandy as everything is outdated.

GW2 has done a good job with improving social interaction, in GW1 I never saw a soul except in the HUB’s. You think the it’s lonely now… :P
However I do miss some things from GW1 like dual profs and how the guild organisation was set out.

It’s putting a different spin on things , a step up but wouldn’t call it revolutionary.

The only gripe I have is the lack of practical armour sets. Sure I do like some of the audacious outfits but I love my good set of practical armours. I would like to see more medieval plate armour but with more variations. That’s just my personal preference.

^ Thankfully that is all cleared. I came to check back on anymore advice. Kit is NOT and never will be one of those elitists. Kit is a very helpful and generous person.

Anyway back on topic:

There are mainly Tiers during these types of events.
There will be things to do at lower lvls but there will be some less accessible events usually in the 30/50 range. This was done as Anet didn’t want players making new character and getting everything straight away. The higher tier are for the characters that have made a greater progression.

That does mean you are completely cut off from the content. A little ask for help in map chat is more than enough to help you do the event.

Some instances are scaled such as the Mad King dungeon so all players are included.;)

Kit is absolutely right, follow her general advice.

Higher tier kits give you an increased ‘chance’ of obtaining the rarer components that the salvaged item contained.

E.g A rare 72+ item will have an increased chance of obtaining components such as ectos when using a Master Salvage kit compared to using a crude salvage kit.

The real word here is chance as it is not guaranteed that on average you will end up with more ectos using master salvage kits compared to crude one in this case salvaging rares for ectos.

In the general care you want to be using master salvage kits on rares or above and use lesser kits on general items. I recommend if you’re lucky enough to obtain black lion kits save for salvaging rares or unwanted exotic or something, however if I am not mistaken even with BL kits you can obtain anywhere from 0 to 5 (???) ectos. This only applies to ectos I believe, there is 100% chance to salvage it’s raw materials and any runes the item contains.

I suppose it was my fault, I was happy but it never ever felt ‘right’ talked to her and she said it was okay, that we would be friends no matter what but I still think from time to time was what I did right? You could see it broke her heart, no-one should feel that. No-one should go through with that but I did that to her. We talked through it before we started and talked after it. In true it makes you feel dirty. It ended happily and it has gone back to the it has. I still dwell on the what if’s. It lasted for 2 and a bit years, I did feel happy but to me it felt like something was missing.

I know all relationships start with a good friendship but to me it’s a different type of friendship. Or maybe it’s what you’re both describing? It happens if it happens.

We are still in speculation as stated there ain’t much Intel. I assume it has some sort of logarithmal curve where additional increases have a smaller effect each time.

But yea at the end of the day it’s all about chance. Say wearing MF increases your chance of getting rares:

5% to 10% there is still the 90% chance you will not get one. On average 1/10 times you should get a rare but in practice it may not be the case. (Numbers are made up for ease)

So yea, anything’s game. :P

I’ve known so many people that are interested in each other, however because they are really good friends they do not want to jeopardize the friendship if it doesn’t work out . Heck I’ve had that problem, I’ve done it once and if it doesn’t work out everything gets awkward and weird. It took a few years before everything got back to where it was.
We both thought something was there but with the fallout it does become weird to a certain degree.
It’s all about certainty. We both thought we were certain and talked about it. If you are unsure it’s best to stay friends until you get a better feeling.

Dating does require a slightly different approach. Dating a best friend is different from normal different, there’s no denying that you have more to lose than with the normal.

You do want to become friends from the start and continue it but you form a slightly different relationship from what you do with friends. I dunno the friend zone thing is really something you have to experience for yourself. As with everything there is an infinite amount of variations.

Manning the hell up is an easy way to bed people but they’re not looking for that. (We both know that ones looking for a quick play either are looking for it or have issues that make them so easy) Making a play is easy having proper people to have your back no matter what is much harder. The hot ones that have everything they want, that’s a change of game.

So no manning the hell up isn’t the complete answer to this as they have done that.

Lol, I will go all Internet Psychologist cause there’s something else to this. And no you might not eat all civilians up. I’ve been smashed by drill sergeants and impressed them. They pushed us till we puked and some even passed out. And so they should. Yes they have been great mentors and made me what I am. It all depends on the person.

He’s not even looking for something to play with that you can drop when you’re bored and move onto the next game. So yea I kitten well will carry on like this.

Like any class it really depends how you spec it.

I run a semi glass cannon but I don’t go down much. The thing is to time those dodge and such. Also when you apply your confusions etc. Don’t spam the whole set of confusions at once play one, attack till it wears off. Stay back a bit till confusion skill is half charged. Apply a different one and attack again. You can get a very steady rotation of confusions and stuff. Also utility skills are amazing! Sure it may take more work to kill something compared to a warrior, but if you want to be a better player playing a harder to learn class ain’t a bad thing!

A Mesmer can also stealth using torch, utility and elite skill. It’s a pretty cool class to play! Except if you play a male the butterfly effects are kinda funny.

I think you want Guardian for the parading type. Don’t be fooled by a low health pool! The guard has mainly utilities and support skills for itself or party. A well played guardian is awesome in dungeons.
Don’t expect any high burst damage. Guardian is all mainly all about sustained damage, you can easily fight mobs of risen at a time.

Mesmer is very interesting, at first they come off as squash but constant confusions and some invulnerablity skills come in handy. Very interesting class! I run a melee Mesmer with dual swords. Devastating! More of a dancing spell sword.

Ele I don’t have much of an idea. I can’t get into ele. The beginning you might be frustrated in the early stages but stick at it. I’ll let someone else take over this bit.

Most of the things range from lower levels to mid levels 40/50. However there are many folks that will help you through the harder stuff, just ask for help in map chat. As mentioned some things scale you up.

I don’t see why you’re worried that you’ll be flamed for playing WoW. WoW’s a game and we’re all here cause we like playing games right?
