Next Halloween? Not sure if i’ll still be playing then, that’s a long ways off…
it’s next month….

someone brought some Bacardi 151 to the office on the day they wrote that dialog.
More evidence that Quality Assurance at ArenaNet is nonexistent.
What hard drive do you have? Do you have any history of packet loss with that internet service provider?

If you take a look at the views, there are over 650 at the time of writing this. I am sure that most of those people have tried it but haven’t bothered to reply. Sadly, that is the way this community is.

1. Right click your GW2.exe and select “Create shortcut”.
2. Right click on that newly-created shortcut and select “Properties”
3. Scroll to the end of the “Target:” text field.
4. At the end of the line, add a space followed by -mapLoadInfo
The target should look similar to this: “D:\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe” -mapLoadInfo
5. Click “Apply” and “OK”.
6. Run GW2 from that shortcut and login normally.
Now each time you go to load a new area, you will see a list of diagnostics in the bottom-left of your screen. Refer to the attached screenshots to see a sample of the diagnostics.
Toward the end of the list, you will see a string that says “ElapsedWaitTime”. This is the current time that is spent loading a zone. When the loading has finished, there will be a very brief pause so you can see how long the zone loaded.
Here is an example of some of my load times.
Smokestead Waypoint (Plains of Ashford) – 4.66 seconds
Trader’s Forum Waypoint (Lion’s Arch) – 10.24 seconds
You will know the zone is fully loaded when “MapLoadState” reports as STATE_READY
Enjoy!!!
Some people have had certain issues with FIOS but I haven’t. It has to do with the route the data takes to get to the GW2 servers.
Give this a try. It may help.

Also, make sure you have your laptop plugged into the wall. Go to the Control Panel > Power Options and make sure your power plan is set to “High Performance”. You can dig up some other tweaks for Windows online.
If you have an anti-virus program, make sure it isn’t doing anything in the background while GW2 is running.

I am extremely happy to hear all the positive results!
Keep in mind that with -forwardRenderer, lighting is a little strange at times and there are no shadows.

If the game is so CPU bound as everyone claims, it would use more than 25% of my 3770k.
It doesn’t, so that leads me to believe that something else is at work here.
GW2 does support 3D with AMD cards, just not through the options. You need to install third-party software and have a compatible monitor.
For instance, I have the Samsung S27A950D. With the proper 3D glasses and the Tridef 3D software, I can launch GW2 and play in true 3D.
Do some research on that.
2) You have only 4GB of memory. If you upgraded to 6GB or even 8GB, I can almost guarantee that this “out of memory” error would go away.
16gb ram and same prob with those kind of client crashes. So it will not rly fix it.
Well there are a few problems here.
1) You are running an obsolete operating system. I highly suggest upgrading to Windows 7. Windows Vista consumes WAY too much memory, which is part of your problem.
2) You have only 4GB of memory. If you upgraded to 6GB or even 8GB, I can almost guarantee that this “out of memory” error would go away.
In short, you need a computer upgrade
How much system memory do you have?
You didn’t say if you used it or not (FarCry 3 64-bit client).
But my point still stands. Unless the game being tested + 64-bit OS is actively needing more than 4GB then you won’t see a performance shift from 4GB to 8GB.
All that more system memory buys you is the ability to run more 32-bit apps at the same time without the apps fighting over who gets system memory.
This is just lol. A 64bit client will utilize a 64bit cpu which in turn will have twice the computing power. If a program is not utilizing the hardware that’s available then its a poorly designed program. The gw2 game engine is a poorly designed engine. It’s not the worst engine I’ve seen, but it’s still subpar none the less.
agreed 100%
Anything with “super” in it is a complete joke. That includes super adventure box.
Attach the crash report as an attachment.

Verify your firewall settings allow for ALL connections through port 80.
If you have a router, find the ‘Port Forwarding’ section and forward port 80.

With all the complaints about low FPS, nobody seems to pay any mind to a possible fix?
Deprecated files (meaning files no longer in use by the game), are NOT removed from the dat.
In order to have the smallest dat file, you will need to redownload the entire client. Only necessary files will be downloaded.
So you are using onboard video and an AMD cpu?
You are basically asking for low fps.
As for why you can’t install the game, I do not know.
When you face the ground, the game only has to render things a very small distance away from the camera.
Terrain is static. Nothing special to render there.
When facing a city from the outside, you have to draw many things at varying distances and not all of those things are static. There are many dynamic elements involved.
Nothing wrong here. This is how 3d engines work.
I personally don’t notice any difference because I already get pretty high fps. I just wanted to share these.

Try adding -forwardrenderer as a command line parameter.
Read on how to do that here:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
Read some of the positive feedback received below! It’s working for some ppl!!!
(edited by God Of Fissures.8627)
Vsync only makes a difference in smoothness when the FPS is at the refresh rate. If the FPS is below the refresh rate, stutter, jitter, and frame tearing can still occur.

Because this change has already been implemented. There is a command line parameter that removes the fov change back to what it was at launch.
-useOldFov
You should believe the people who actually have experience in such matters. A 650W psu is fine for that build.
Alright, best of luck. Keep us informed as to your progress.
nope, try a repair.

Probably something ArenaNet did. They will be releasing another performance patch in the next couple weeks so just wait till then to see if that fixes it.
Hi GB Panther – The downside here is that those drivers are from 2010, long before the release of Guild Wars 2.
The GW2 engine is older than 2010.
Devs please move this thread to SAB:BTS forum. This is not a technical inquiry.
Per request of Espionage.3685, I have added the mobility link. Enjoy the drivers!
There are a couple possibilities:
1) ArenaNet has made many tweaks to the game engine to optimize performance since release. It is possible that one or more of these changes has had a negative impact in your case.
2) Something on your system has changed in the past year. I suggest reinstalling your operating system (if this isn’t too much trouble) to verify that the OS isn’t at fault.
Catalyst 13.10 beta is out! This driver doesn’t have the performance issues of the 13.8 beta and runs GW2 like a champ.
This driver fully supports Windows 8.1.

MOBILE GRAPHICS:

I highly suggest you give this driver a try!

Hey folks, we’ve got a newspaper.

I like the name! Teh articles are good too
in gw1 if you disconnected, the server would try its best to save your current state in the instance. i think you had 5-10 minutes to reconnect and it would restore your session as if you never disconnected.
too bad this isn’t implemented. seems anet is moving away from the things that work in an attempt “innovate”

You only say it was easy because of your Infinite continue coin. Without it, you would be dying so often that you would have quit long ago
I suggest you back up all your data, do a secure erase on the SSD, and reinstall Windows. Here’s why.
1. You have tons of stuff running in the background. How do I know? Nearly two thirds of your physical memory is in use and there are over 42 THOUSAND file handles. Your system is not clean, optimized, or even ready to play a game.
2. I bet your system has viruses because of how disgustingly dirty you keep your OS.
Once you do the secure erase, reinstall Windows, install THE LATEST drivers for your hardware, and perform all Windows updates, then you should attempt reinstalling the entire game from scratch.
Also, read up on how to keep your system clean and optimized. You need all the help you can get.

What I mean is not to get a CPU with more cores, but to get one with more single-threaded power core-for-core. Like an i7-4770K has roughly 10% more power core-for-core than my i7-3770K. That is what I meant by an upgrade in your CPU.

You are on the right track but you should consider getting one with a better CPU. Even if you have to spend a few hundred dollars more.
You need to save up some more money. AMD is definitely NOT the way to go for this game or any other modern game.
I suggest you make your budget an additional 100-200 dollars. Get a CPU such as an i5-4670 and a GPU in the 7800 series.
You will be very very sorry when you put this build together and find out your performance is horrible. And no, you can not expect to play this game in 3D on a 7750.
Rethink this. Also, I don’t condone this but you can save 100 dollars by not “buying” the operating system.
CPU parking has been discussed in other threads, but these bios changes seem a bit dangerous, especially the “Thermal Monitor” function.
These settings look like they make sure your CPU is running at the maximum possible speed at all times, even when gw2 is not running. With this happening, you’d really want to make sure that your CPU doesn’t overheat, which normally results in the bios turning off your machine before any damage is done.
This will also quickly drain laptop batteries.
Those features are power saving features. Disabling them prevents the CPU from being able to enter these low-power states. There is nothing dangerous about the changes he made. I use them 24×7 and there have yet to be issues.
You can safely enable Intel Speedstep to make the CPU consume less power when a CPU intensive process (such as GW2) isn’t running. I use a program called Process Lasso to force my 3770k to run at 1.6GHz whenever a game isn’t running and to ramp it up to 4.5GHz whenever I have a CPU intensive process running (games, Photoshop, Sony Vegas, etc). You should give that program a try.
You obviously wouldn’t disable many power saving features on a laptop that isn’t plugged into the wall. These tweaks are for gaming PC’s.
The faster memory will have a minor impact on performance but costs a lot more.
I personally use 1866 Corsair Dominator Platinum CL9. Great stuff.
Sounds like graphic driver corruption. Use a utility such as Treexy Driver Fusion to do a complete uninstall of your graphics drivers. Then reinstall the latest stable ones.
The discs have the core files. When the data on the discs is combined into one big DAT file, it is 13.5GB. From there, you must download the rest of the updates.
Don’t listen to Reborn about the 750W PSU. The 650W one is more than enough.
Also don’t listen to his recommendation to buy a cheaper graphics card and to use the savings to buy an extra pci audio card. The game will never use more than 25% of that CPU’s resources so the resources used by the onboard audio will not impact performance whatsoever.
If you can, get a wired connection. Wired is much more stable than wireless.
If you have any System Restore points, try restoring to a point where you were not experiencing any issues.
Much better. See if you can get the 4670K so you can overclock and get some extra FPS in this game.
Never go AMD for this game or any other modern game you intend on playing. You must get a quality Intel i5 or i7.
Also, you are seriously skimping on the graphics card. See if you can afford a GTX 670 or 680.
