Discuss!
The first loading screen looks like Lion’s Arch during GW2’s first birthday!
The second loading screen is anybody’s guess.
The sPvP map is most likely Skyhammer.

You can feel nostalgia by visiting GW1 landmarks that exist in Tyria 250 years later.
Pockmark Flats searing crystal
Temple of the Ages
Divinity Coast being turned into Divinity’s Reach
Eye of the North
Black Citadel built on the ruins of Rin (can still see some of the ruins too)
Ashford Abbey
The Great Northern Wall
Nebo Terrace
Ascalon Settlement
Beetletun
Shaemoor (from the Divinity Coast mission)
The old Lion’s Arch lighthouse
Arbor Bay (the Grove is here)
Droknar’s Forge (or what is left of it)
Port Sledge
Talus Chute
Lornar’s Pass
Beacon’s Perch
Serenity Temple (it got destroyed by Dragonbrand)
There are more but I can’t think of them.
the new jp will be accessible on monday. hold on until then
I would love to see a Cantha expansion, I always liked the crowded and winding streets of Kaineng and very much loved it’s flair. Also, I would love to see Jade Quarry return.
The Jade Sea has started to become a liquid again since the defeat of Shiro.
When looking at the large wallpaper image, I see a couple very large waterfalls in the background. This area seems to be built at the bottom of a large rock structure. The color of the water leads me to believe that it is a tropical area like Southsun Cove or around that area.
The majority of speculation seems to be pointing to the Dominion of Winds with FW meaning “Four Winds”. This is because the Tengu have four houses and their home is the Dominion of Winds.
Here is a quote from the wiki describing the Tengu’s houses:
“Modern tengu that live within the Dominion of Winds have long since put aside their differences and now live under four houses – North, South, East, and West. These four houses are named after the winds, and were created to unify the tengu while allowing them to preserve their clans’ unique cultures.”
So the most likely conclusion is that FW stands for Four Winds. The Dominion of Winds is in a tropical area which the wallpaper image seems to be as well.
The Dominion of Winds is the only thing that makes a lot of sense.
If they did release the code for the game engine, I bet some of the talented programmers on these forums could optimize it.
Then we might actually get good FPS.
If you are serious about recording, there are dedicated Capture Cards that you can install into your PC. Some of the high-end ones are quite expensive. Do some research.
Or just disable PowerPlay support in MSI Afterburner.
You need to upgrade your build. Plain and simple.
learning a lot from this thread too lol. nice conversation guys.
Question – wouldn’t you want to make the mb the most important part of your computer ? graphics cards / chips constantly upgrade – but the mobo is the foundation of a good upgradeable build ?
Not as much as you would think. If you aren’t planning on overclocking and don’t require any special motherboard features, then there is no reason not to go with a basic, cheaper motherboard.
All the PCI-E 3.0 graphics cards that recently came out work equally well on PCI-E 2.0, 2.1, and 3.0 motherboards. DDR3 has been around for a long time now and there hasn’t been any talk of motherboards upgrading to using DDR4 or DDR5 (mainly cause the CPU’s can’t support it yet). CPU socket types are staying the same (AM3, LGA1155, LGA2011), and SATA is still mainly SATA 2 and SATA 3.
You can’t really future-proof your motherboard like you can a graphics card or high-end CPU. Unless you want lots of features and exemplary build quality, you don’t have to spend tons of cash on a motherboard. It is best spent on a better CPU or GPU.

runs the same as on windows 8. i tested a leaked build…something like build 9369.
all is well.
Been posted already in the Tech Support forum.

Meh .. I would say the WP icon sitting on top of the area name is worse.
I’m inclined to agree.
take this build into the new aetherblade dungeon and watch yourself get kicked from the party after 5 minutes.
So you fixed your computer, not the game. The patcher was never broken to begin with, only your computer was.
i’ll edit one of the images to show the problem spots lol

That area in Gendarran Fields has finally made it onto the world map. Images below.
The devs did a terrible job of matching up the Gendarran Fields map slices and the Lion’s Arch map slices so it looks quite strange.
Kasmeer has Paragon-looking armor and features. Very reminiscent of Nightfall.
not op. let this thread sink into the 3rd page and beyond so they dont nerf us.
I can confirm the rumors. I hacked into the NSA database and found they had been spying on Ogden Stonehealer, who leads a doublelife as the leader of the Neo Stone Summit, who dwell under Arah. You can gain acces to their lair by completing Arah p4 and then talking to Ogden after each partymember destroys an Eternity in front of him. Once there you have the option to betray Ogden and fight him. However he is a dedicated healer in GW2 so it’s almost impossible to bring him down. Once killed he drops all precursors and 1 silver.
I knew that Ogden was still alive but kitten…slumming in Arah? He’s better than tht.
In this case, I would forego the SSD and get a higher quality video card but I think people are overlooking one of the best things about SSD’s in gaming rigs.
When there is a loading screen, the game doesn’t load every little thing into memory to be used. There are some things that pop up unexpectedly that need to be taken from the game archive and loaded into memory.
The faster read speeds on SSD’s allow this needed data to be put into memory faster than a traditional HDD, meaning less of a stutter/pause when this data gets loaded.
Not only does an SSD improve loading screen times, it helps aid in a smoother gaming experience overall.
yeah it was some asian text. really strange.
I knew the patch notes had atleast some validity.
I think in the future, people should take these leaks more seriously.
I just finished the first chapter. Pretty sad stuff but hopefully things turn around for Cobiah in chapter 2.
You don’t have to do max-level activities. Do what I did.
Start a new character, take your time with it, level professions using materials that you gathered, do some jumping puzzles, maybe complete some casual achievements, and stop playing when you feel you need a break.
Simple, casual gameplay that isn’t tiresome or boring.
im checking every 5 mins or so. until it goes live tho, im ripping my MXC episodes from my DVD’s and uploading them to youtube.
first one should be finished processing shortly…channel name MXCRightYouAreKen
I’ve been waiting for many, many months. These babies sell for 300g and mine (one of the first obtained in the Halloween event), cannot be sold!
I am starting to think that ArenaNet just doesn’t give a kitten .
isnt like 125 people? something over 100 is memory serves
Without trying to spoil anything, we learn about Cobiah Marriner, Polla (the doll item people are freaking out about) and the girl who owned it (Biviane). Biviane is Cobiah’s sister btw and they lived in Lion’s Arch during the time of Zhaitan rising from Orr.
So we get to understand the story behind the doll and Biviane’s death as well as the flooding of LA.
most likely you will have to purchase the complete set.
Your CPU is terrible.
Your graphics card is terrible.
You have only 512MB of video memory.
This is not a good computer. This is in fact a pretty horrible computer.
Uncompressed game files are ~26GB at the moment.
Just got Sea of Sorrows in the mail!!! Here is what is said on the back of the book:
DEATH SAILS THE SEAS . . .
The lost kingdom of Orr lies beneath the ocean waves, an entire civilization swallowed by an ancient cataclysm. For centuries, it has lain dormant in the depths, its ancient secrets lost.
Until now.
The Elder Dragon Zhaitan has risen. In its wake, the drowned kingdom of Orr is reborn—and another is destroyed. The city of Lion’s Arch, for generations a cornerstone of civilization in Tyria, is brutally swept beneath the waves, leaving nothing but ruins. Among the survivors is Cobiah Marriner, a human sailor shipwrecked by the tsunami and stranded at sea. When he is rescued by a ferocious charr, Cobiah knows that he’s been plunged into a world forever changed.
Now, Zhaitan’s undead servants dominate the sea, destroying port after port and slaughtering anything in their path. In the midst of ruin, Cobiah vows to see Lion’s Arch rebuilt. Amid the storm of the dragon’s rising, Cobiah must become a hero to his crew and an admiral to the pirate fleet, and face the ghosts of his past. Only then will he master the Sea of Sorrows and crush the armada of Orr.
My odds have been 1 ticket for every 500 coffers. It is a shame that your luck is so poor.
This only works for nVidia.
Do you know of a similar ATI solution?
(edited by God Of Fissures.8627)
Hopefully a big celebration in LA. Everyone who attends should receive an achievement and exclusive gift that allows the user to choose a weapon skin ticket from a previous event.
ArenaNet should be congratulating US for staying with them for a full year so the players should be handsomely rewarded.
Also,about the forest part.
I remember in EotN from GW1,there was a place with a REAL forest,it was near the Drakkar lake I think, just before you get into the Asuran area,it was a forest full of dolyaks walking in large groups,it was beautiful.
Are you talking about the small lush forest area in Varajar Fells just outside Olafstead? It is right before you zone into Verdant Cascades.
Farming spots nerfed, player wealth dependent on RNG, low fps, more focus on gem store than player satisfaction.
So in short, nothing new really other than the balance patch on the 25th.

We knew it was going to have to be seriously low-end from the moment we knew his budget. If he can save up a couple hundred more euros, he can buy an entry-level gaming pc that will play gw2 on lowest settings with enough fps for him to enjoy.

You did a great job Swordbreaker, but there is one issue.
Computer components are always more expensive in the EU so he isn’t going to get the discounts that websites like Tigerdirect offer. Plus he will have to pay for shipping.
Sounds like either a corrupt driver installation or your Windows system files are somehow corrupted.
I would fully remove the drivers with a tool such as Treexy Driver Fusion. Then I would run a full Chkdsk and run the System File Checker (sfc /scannow).
Don’t just assume that Guild Wars 2 is the only thing causing the BSOD. There very well may be something seriously wrong with your computer and you won’t know it until you try these steps.
Are you being serious?
Even if you could start the game, it would run so poorly that you would go back to GW1.

Why such a big HDD, bluray drive, and 1866 memory? 250GB, regular cd/dvd drive, and 1600 memory is fine.
you will have no issues whatsoever by using the overlay
i promise you that nothing will happen to your account
flamethrower engineers are always fun
That area on the Ring of Fire with a patch of lush, green grass and a tall tropical tree.
Definitely one of the prettier places in Tyria. To find thriving flora in such a hostile environment was awesome to me.
Note how the OP didn’t say which Tyria to post about (GW1 or GW2)
(edited by God Of Fissures.8627)
How can diminishing returns affect a randomly generated number?
Unless the devs are using a “different type of rng” like stated above.
I loved going there during the beta. Even though they blocked access from the Incubation waypoint, you can still slide off Rata, die, and use a Rez Orb.
There is no cooldown outside of combat.
There is a cooldown in combat to prevent repeatedly getting the benefits of “On weapon swap” weapon upgrades.
people were making money so arenanet had to stop it or the game would have gone to hell in a handbasket.
I feel for ya.
