Is the gpu in a x16 PCIE lane?
Do you have the latest drivers installed from AMD?
Are you overclocking? You may have an unstable OC.
I do hope that GW2 will get optimised for Ultra HD and 4K resolutions to attract more players, provide better interface etc.
But honestly I don’t think I will upgrade to 4K anytime soon.
24" display with 1920×1080
or 26" with 1920×1200 is more then enough for me.
And like someone else pointed out fact about upgrading PC to run on 4K.Most gamers have PC rig worth below 1000$, and I don’t think you can run GW2 on 4K with high/ultra settings at 60 FPS.
GW2 @ high/ultra settings at 4K resolution with 60FPS is easily achievable with 980Ti, TITAN X, etc.
Highest DSR resolution I can go before text is too small is 2880×1620. Looks great but there should be an option to increase UI size as much as you want.
Cmon Anet….this is such an easy fix.
Clear the dust, replace thermal paste with something like Arctic MX-4, reseat everything, and you should be good to go.
I download the uncompressed files and my GW2.dat file is currently 30GB.
I just finished a setup for this on my thief.
Full Dire on Armor and Weapons (Vitality + Toughness + Condition Damage)
Full 6/6 set of Superior Runes of the Afflicted
I have two dagger sets.
The first set has a Superior Sigil of Corruption on one dagger and a Superior Sigil of Bursting on the other. This is to build up 25 stacks of corruption to increase my condition damage.
The second set has a Superior Sigil of Bursting on one dagger and a Superior Sigil of Agony on the other. I switch to this set once i have 25 stacks of corruption built up.
All my accessories, rings, and amulet have +toughness, +vitality, and +condition damage. Each of them has an Exquisite Chrysocola Jewel.
I use Koi Cakes and Master Tuning Crystals as my buffs.
Traits are 30/0/20/0/20 (IV, VII, and XII in Deadly Arts) (III and IX in Shadow Arts) and (II and III in Trickery)
Healing skill is Skelk Venom. Utilities are Skale Venom, Spider Venom, and Blinding Powder. Elite is Basilisk Venom.
With all this combined, your poison lasts an extremely long time, bleeds last a really long time, and your condition damage is absolutely through the roof. Additionally, you have loads of toughness and vitality, meaning your survivability is above-par.
I tend to use Skelk Venom at around half health. This plus a few Death Blossoms gets me back up to full health easily.
Most of the time I just spam Death Blossom to get as many stacks of bleed up on the target as quickly as possible. If Spider Venom is on cooldown, I’ll autoattack to get poison on the target.
When things get sticky, I’ll pop Blinding Powder. This will give me regeneration and 4 seconds of stealth. It’s enough time to get away to recover.
The rest you can learn from just playing the build yourself.

My only guess is the hardware acceleration that Chrome uses. It is creating more GPU activity which seems to be helping your FPS in game.

I have seen recent threads about loading times so I feel that this deserves a bump.

Yeah I have been following that loading times thread. Seems to be an epidemic as of late.
Map loading times have gone up by quite a bit for me. Loading into Lion’s Arch used to take 3-5 seconds, now it takes 17-20 seconds. Other zones which had 2-3 second load times are now taking around 11-14 seconds. The only thing which has changed recently on my system is the game’s own updates.
I followed the information in another post on the Tech Support forum on how to measure map loading times, and the loading of models is what’s taking so very, very long: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/How-to-accurately-measure-map-loading-times
With all video settings at the very lowest, load times are reduced… slightly… but they are still exponentially longer than they ever used to be.
(Running dual SSDs in raid 0.)
Yeah that was my thread. Glad it helped pinpoint your issue.
Although read speed on the disk drive plays a huge role, the CPU and network quality also play a role.
If your CPU isn’t up to par, decompression times will increase therefore making loading times longer.
If you are experiencing packet loss while loading, the game will wait until the connection is successful.
Supposedly there is some kind of culling fix in the works to be released soon.
Won’t change FPS for anything except zergs.

I personally recommend the Corsair 550D. I love the sound-dampening material, rubber holes to dampen fan vibration, and tons of locations to mount fans. Quite roomy inside too.
AMD’s single-threaded performance pales in comparison to Intel’s. If you want the best gameplay experience, you must go Intel.
I have a 3770K that I delidded. With my H100 cooler, it never goes above 50C when playing GW2.
Why are you guys being so polite about this?
In a game where builds are directly tied to armor stats, not having crucial stat combos on the end-game gear is a colossal kitten-up.
Straight out incompetence.
I agree wholeheartedly. Incompetence is something ArenaNet has gotten very competent at since focusing solely on Gem Store sales.
ArenaNet’s promises don’t mean anything like they used to back in the days of GW1.
They proved this when the game took a completely opposite direction from the Manifesto.
You mean you counted every line the manifesto and every line is a 180 degree turn around? Or you interpreted one line in one possible way and that one line is a 180 degree turnaround?
Because there’s at least 50 lines in the manifesto that are still true, I’d think. Particularly when you actually pay attention to Anet’s clarification of it, which was released 3 days after the manifesto.
As long as people keeping bringing up the manifesto to try to make a point, I’ll keep point out that the other side of the story.
You can do that all you want. This is not the game that the developers described in the Manifesto.
Real quality stuff. The custom hoodie is quite original.

I have another one…
No, that isn’t a meme. This is a meme.
I approve of this thread.
Oh…wow. You know each time you bump the ticket I think it gets moved to the back of the queue. Your best bet is just to stick with one ticket submission.
I think you can also contact them via email but I don’t know the email address.
Problems with DS Support are very common. I personally didn’t have an issue when my soundtrack arrived damaged (they sent out a replacement within a few days time). The best thing you can do is to keep sending them inquiries.
Heres your dual pistol love.
Really neat seeing how things looked back then vs now. Thanks for posting that!
You are welcome. I enjoyed making that video =)
Heres your dual pistol love.
I agree. The living world isnt working, it ruins immersion, and makes the game boring.
I am completely sick and tired of temporary content that changes the world for two weeks after which it returns to normal. This is not a “Living World”.
Instead, leave the core game alone. Stop adding useless garbage to the gem store, and quit filling the world with meaningless clutter. The core game does not need to be tainted like this.
Instead, do what worked in GW1. Have annual events (Wintersday, Dragon Festival, April Fool’s Day, Wintersday in July, etc, etc) as the only time the world makes a temporary change. Then, work on EXPANSIONS. This means to allow us entry into the Crystal Desert, the Ring of Fire, the eastern portion of the Southern Shiverpeaks (Marhan’s Grotto, Mineral Springs), the Charr Homelands, etc.
This game needs more places to go, not more clutter and nonsense in the places we already can explore. Content is being created so quickly that it isn’t even being tested adequately.
Living World is destroying the immersion factor that this game once had. The concept doesn’t work in the way you are executing it. Get rid of it and move back to what worked during GW1.
We don’t need more useless clutter in this game. It has enough with all of the garbage content the developers keep pushing out. I’m sorry, but I do not support this suggestion.
Dragonbrand too.
Obviously unintended. Those are two identical Shatterer models.
How come you don’t use double-tap? No Unreal Tournament fans here??? =)
Get yourself a dual cpu motherboard, put 2 intel xeons (5000$ each), 2 ssds raid 0, get 2 top nvidia cards (1500$ each), put 64 gigs of ram, make a ram disk, put gw2 into ram disk.
Already been proven that two physical CPU’s does not help performance in this game.
I don’t think too many people are going to delid just for gw2 lol.
Who said JUST for GW2? Delidding helps overall because it decreases heat…regardless of if you overclock or not.
i7 3770k + Corsair H100i. OC to 4.5ghz or higher.
GTX 780 GPU.
128gb/256gb SSDBuild around that and u will be able to run GW2 as good as is currently possible. BUT it wont be ‘perfect’ as the GW2 engine is just unable to run ‘perfectly’ no matter how much hardware u throw at it.
*I recommend the 3770k over the 4770k becouse its easier to OC heat wise.
Basically my setup. Runs this game rather well on near-max settings. 4770K is roughly 10% faster core-for-core and can be delidded just like a 3770K…so I would go with the 4770K.
I believe this is user error. Have yet to encounter this (i’m using double-tap to dodge) and I have been playing steadily since the time this started happening for the OP.

No, it also has some adverse effects on the lighting. But it is only noticeable sometimes.
There is no such PC. Sorry but what you are asking for is beyond the capabilities of this horribly optimized engine.

I definitely noticed my game runs a lot smoother after adding that. Camera is a lot more responsive and I think I got some FPS too.
I’ve had some performance issues in the new WvW content, especially in the tall tower on southeast corner of the ruins. My camera was getting really “heavy” and FPS dropped a lot.
Went to test it again after adding that line, and while I can still feel FPS drops some, my camera was really responsive.Really worth trying that if you don’t have top notch PC. Thanks, buddy.
Very welcome!

Recent bug…atleast with Tridef 3D on AMD graphics cards. Tridef is pushing out an update for their software that fixes the issue. If you are using the built-in stereoscopic 3D option, then I don’t know if/when that will be fixed.
I would enjoy GW2 much more if the developers actually delivered on the stuff they said in their manifesto.
Fact is, they are not making an MMO for the players, they are making the same kind of MMO as everyone else, and there is lots of grinding.
PALAWA JOKO
just jokoing =)
Is it wrong that I am massively looking forward to the inevitable day, perhaps years from now, but still, inevitable, where we face Palawa Joko again? That guy had style. He’s a real villain, none of this Scarlet nonsense or big roar-y dragons or the like.
“You miserable hunks of desiccated flesh! I leave you alone for a few hundred years and you let everything go to hell! Now that I’m back, things are going to be different.”

Getting an SSD would be great for decreasing your loading times. I have an OCZ Vertex4 256GB and most zones load in 2-5 seconds.

My system is basically the same as yours except the Video card may be a but lower then yours and I have all my in game setting to high or medium and on average I get 60fps, rarely dropping below 30fps in big groups anywhere in the game. I think the difference is I have not over clocked my system and I run the game in a clean install of Windows7 64 bit. With nothing running in the background except vent or ts3 . For some reason this game does not run well on an overclocked system.
If you don’t apply enough voltage to the component, it will result in poor performance (if not a complete system crash). Otherwise, overclocking both the CPU and GPU result in performance gains…not the other way around.
They only test that Gem Store merchandise works as intended. Everything else doesn’t get tested because it doesn’t make them money.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with your computer whatsoever. The developers decided to skimp on performance to focus more on Gem Store sales…so we are forced to live with low fps.
Consider disabling Reflections all together. They only add visual appeal in very specific circumstances. The reason they are such a big performance-killer is because underneath each map is a body of water. Don’t ask me why, there just is. So even if you are in an area with no water, reflections are still rendered on that ocean underneath the map. Horrible optimization on the devs part.
You can also perform some client-side tweaks to potentially boost FPS. Overclock your CPU (You can easily get 4.6GHz on air), disable Core Parking, disable Dynamic Ticks, maximize timer resolution, and whatever tweaks you can find online.
Consider delidding your 4770K to reduce the temperatures. I did that to my 3770K and it runs extremely cool.
Best of luck!!!
haha. run a disk check to scan for errors and/or bad sectors on the disk.
chkdsk c: /f /r

The world isn’t living at all. It changes for a week or so and then we go back into a time machine to the original world.
Then more “living story” content comes…we play it for a week or so and then the world goes back to what it was.

Living story content has been and always will be about the gem store.
The faster the devs can produce crappy, untested, pointless content…the more random crap they can put on the gem store for us to waste our money on.
This won’t change.
