Bans should NOT be handed out because ArenaNet did not fully test their event before releasing it. Normal players have entered a Dragon Ball match with this food buff on them and it STAYED ON WHEN THEY ENTERED THE ARENA.

People are not at fault here, ArenaNet is.

Why didn’t these people leave the match as soon as they noticed that it was unbalancing the game so the buff wears off? A lot of people know that it’s affecting the game but they continue to do it and many people actually lie about it saying that they had it on before.

It is ArenaNet’s fault. Not the players’ fault for using game mechanics to their advantage.

FOR ALL THOSE HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES HERE IS THE SOLUTION.

First you have to make an account at BradyGames.
Then log in.
On your “My Account” page, there should be an area to enter digital codes on the right. For me it is titled “Digital Product Voucher”. Enter the code in the back of the hardcover guide book (it is on a sticker on the inside of the rear cover).

I swear this is the only tutorial online for how to redeem this.

I have a delidded 3770K which I can easily OC to 4.8GHz and I have to say that it is a great chip. Definitely recommend it.

That motherboard looks OK. I would try to get one that is slightly cheaper but still has great overclocking features. Some research would have to go into this and I am not going to do it for you.

Pick the graphics card you want. Intel doesn’t necessarily mesh better with nVidia and vice-versa. I have a AMD Radeon 7970 and I love it. However if you want to fulfill that Intel/nVidia stereotype, go with a GTX 670 or 680.

You don’t need to go any higher than 1600MHz on the RAM because anything past that doesn’t really matter when it comes to gaming (you’ll just be paying out of your butt for it). Go with the CL9 if you can cause it is slightly faster. CL stands for CAS Latency. CAS is the Column Address Strobe. The CAS takes part in almost every read transaction and is therefore considered to be the most important timing when it comes to memory read performance. However if you want to save a bit of dough, go with CL10. You won’t notice much of a difference.

Unless you are in an extremely dusty and unventilated environment, air cooling will suffice. For case fans I highly suggest Corsair’s lineup of Airflow and Static Pressure fans. Do some research on those.

as far as i know, this is normal behavior.

when you are turning the camera, the game has to load the textures, objects, and assets that you will be viewing at this new angle

this fps drop is most likely just the game slowing down so these things can be loaded

I would assume that Guild Wars 2 does not support IPv6 for the simple fact that there are no “network settings” options to be found in the game.

For games that support IPv6 (as is the case with World of Warcraft), there is a specific option that allows the user to switch to IPv6 support. Due to the lack of such a feature in Guild Wars 2, I doubt that ArenaNet supports it.

Alright answer me these questions:

1) How are you connecting to the internet? (Ethernet, WiFi, 4G, etc)
2) Did your old computer also connect to the internet in the same way?
3) Do you have the latest and most stable drivers for your network controller? If unsure, download and install the latest drivers from the manufacturer’s website.

Any other questions feel free to ask.

EDIT: I stumbled across another thread stating that the most recent patch started causing this issue. It may have nothing to do with you at all.

Jokes aside, I would say there is something awry with your internet connection. Call your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and ask them if there are any known issues in your area.

If you have 6GB installed, 32-bit Windows will only use a bit more than half of that. GW2 doesn’t use more than 1.5GB of RAM (on my system anyway) so you must have a LOT of background programs sucking up RAM.

Upgrading to 64-bit Windows would allow you to use all of your available 6GB of RAM and can only help you in this situation.

You are confusing your computer’s hardware specifications with your connection to a server. They are two completely different things. What CPU and videocard you have does not determine how quickly your computer can communicate with a server. That is dependent on the quality of your internet connection.

God Of Fissures: theres no way in bloody hades that your getting a min of 80fps in DE’s, LA and WvWvW zergs, NOBODY gets that, even people with systems faster then yours dont get that.

i can believe 80fps when alone in pve or staring at the sky or a wall in LA….no way your getting that in a DE or WvWvW zerg……no-bloody-way

post a video showing you do, and I will take that back, till then, I will trust my own exp and that of everybody else who has posted about these issues.

I don’t do WvWvW, I just do casual PvE. Just to humor you….

Staring at a wall in LA: http://imageshack.us/a/img802/5268/gw002fr.jpg

Also, when I was talking about the 80FPS minimum, that was in Caledon Forest just running around killing things, doing DE’s, and completing hearts for a couple of days. In more crowded places like LA, I get a minimum of 50 on those “near max” settings.

Here is the Fraps benchmark report of me running from the Gate Hub Plaza waypoint to the Trader’s Forum waypoint.

Frames: 2453
Time: 37206 ms
Min FPS: 51
Max FPS: 79
Avg FPS: 65.930

This was on those same graphics settings shown in the above screenshots.

I am doing a follow-up post because I just replaced my 6950 with a 7970 and want to post the results. My system is pretty closely related to the OP’s so I hope this is relevant.

Intel Core i7-3770K (Overclocked to 4.8GHz at 1.280V)
16GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 1866MHz CL9
ASUS Sabertooth Z77
Sapphire Vapor-X 3GB 7970 (1185/1500)

Now before I upgraded to this 7970, I owned an MSI Twin Frozr III R6950 PE/OC Edition which is one of the best 6950’s on the market. With that card I could run GW2 at medium/medium-high settings without ever going below 50fps.

With my recent upgrade to a 7970, I can now run at nearly max settings (with the exception of Reflections and Supersampling) and never drop below 80fps. I usually get between 80 and 120.

With that out of the way, the only real difference between me and the OP’s computer is the CPU.

The 3770K is an Ivy Bridge (3rd Generation) processor while the 3930K is a Sandy Bridge (2nd Generation) processor. My guess would be that Ivy Bridge processors are more optimized for this game than the previous generation Intel processors. They consume less power, support PCI-E 3.0, and have more power core-for-core than their Sandy Bridge predecessors.

If I had to come to any conclusion, I would say that the 3930K and GW2 do not get along. I bet the OP would get better FPS if he upgraded to Ivy.

Your FPS will go down because this game was not designed to handle more than one graphics card. The engine will get confused on how to handle the presence of more than one GPU and your frame rate will suffer.

SOURCE: My personal experimentation with two graphics cards.

funny, my fps as much as double with crossfire enabled outside places like LA/DE’s/WvWvW where im cpu bound.

the game works fine with sli/cfx and the game itself dosnt manage crossfire/sli, the drivers do, and for some time now both nV and AMD have had good profiles for gw2….infact the beta 13.2 drivers have made gw2 run even better on my dual 6870’s and 7870’s….

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Does-GW2-Support-SLI/20682

nvidia had some issues with SLI but from what i have read they where fixed with updated drivers that have fixed profiles for the game.

you keep saying gw2 cant/dosnt work with sli/cfx, when its just not true, yes some people have issues with it, but, thats true for many games and many times is due to profile issues.

with cfx/xf you need to install the latest cap’s if your not running the 13.2 beta’s (that have newer caps built in), the nice thing about crossfire is, amd puts out updated profiles without need to install new drivers or wait for the next beta set.

crossfire works with this game, so does SLI it just dosnt work like many would hope, because the games VERY VERY VERY cpu bound……

You must be one of the lucky few who isn’t having issues with CFX scaling. With my two 6950’s (both in 16x slots but with CFX it makes the bandwidth 8x/8x), my performance was less than if I used just one. This was not with a beta driver.

My Sapphire Vapor-X 3GB 7970 should be in the mail in a couple of days. I hope to see some FPS improvements over my 6950.

A “driver” is software that instructs hardware how to operate. When you update your drivers you are updating those instructions to the latest versions.

If you have an ATI graphics card, go to http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

If you have an nVidia graphics card, go to http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

If you are having trouble finding out which graphics card you have, those two websites should have a tool available to detect the best drivers for your system. Best of luck.

Your FPS will go down because this game was not designed to handle more than one graphics card. The engine will get confused on how to handle the presence of more than one GPU and your frame rate will suffer.

Even though overclocking will improve your frame rate, the real issue boils down to a “badly optimized, poorly designed, CPU intensive engine” as OnyX.9027 mentioned above.

My graphics card (6950) is almost always 100% utilized by GW2 but those resources are obviously not being used properly or else the frame rate would be much higher. Because of how poorly programmed this engine is, the CPU has to make up for what the GPU is not being programmed to do. Hence performance is based on how powerful one’s CPU is.

Another issue is the fact that GW2 will not use more than two cores (and doesn’t maximize utilization on those cores). If it fully utilized 3 or 4 cores then performance would be much better.

The only way to increase FPS at this point is to upgrade your CPU or overclock your current one. Sorry but that is the hard, honest truth.

ArenaNet really screwed the pooch on this one.

I am using an i7-3770K (delidded and overclocked to 4.8GHz) and an MSI Twin Frozr III R6950 (overclocked to 980/1450) and my FPS on ultra is always between 50 and 120.

If anything, I have seen an FPS boost as of late.

As stated in previous posts, overheating is most likely the culprit. Take your GPU out of the computer, go outside, and clean the dust out with a can of compressed air.

You can also try reinstalling DirectX as it may be corrupt. Do a google search for “DirectX Web Setup” and run that program.

If the above steps haven’t remedied the issue, then update your graphics drivers to the latest ones.

Any other questions just ask.

Disable reflections, set Shaders to low, Post Processing either to low/off. The rest of the settings you can max fine.

Overclock your CPU. To help with temps delid your 3570K and apply CLU (Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra) to the die. That’s what I did to my 3770K. Watch this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXs0I5kuoX4

HT(hyperthreading) off for i7 2600 cpu?

God Of Fissures.8627

This principle applies to nearly every game. I’ll explain how Hyperthreading works and why it is detrimental to gamers.

For every physical core your processor has, Hyperthreading adds an additional thread. This “logical” core can be utilized by programs as another core. The problem is that these logical cores are less powerful and more unreliable than the physical cores on the chip.

Your processor has 4 cores and GW2 will only really focus on a couple of those. Disable HyperThreading and let GW2 run the best it can on the physical cores inherently on your chip. You will most likely get slightly higher fps and more stability.

PCI-Express 3.0 card on 2.0 Motherboard

The only real difference between PCI-E revision 2.0 and PCI-E revision 3.0 is the amount of bandwidth the lanes have. PCI-E 3.0 has higher bandwidth than PCI-E 2.0 meaning that more graphics data can be transferred over 3.0.

But to answer your question, no, you won’t notice a difference between the two revisions if your graphics card is running in an x16 slot. Don’t waste your money on a new motherboard.

Just because you have an i7 doesn’t mean you have a good one. i7-920 is quite crappy to be honest.

You should consider upgrading to an i5-2500K, i5-3570K, or an i7-3770K.

I own a 3770K and when overclocked from 3.5 to 4.7GHz, I notice quite a big difference in FPS.

How to increase fps

in Account & Technical Support

God Of Fissures.8627

This only increases FPS if your CPU/Memory resources are being greatly utilized by the operating system/background programs. If you have a top of the line gaming system, the best Gamebooster can do is reduce the impact of background programs on your gaming experience (reduced I/O, less processor usage, etc).

I havent had any issues, you are aware that the human eye only registers up to about 25-30fps? Anything above looks exactly the same, 60 will be the same as 30 to us….

When you say its “unplayable” i cant believe you on that one :/ Its physically not possible.

This comment proves that you know nothing about PC gaming. You can clearly tell the difference between 30 and 60 fps. I can clearly tell the difference between 60 and 120 fps also. Just because you constantly play xbox and ps3 at 30fps doesn’t mean that you can’t notice the difference when it is higher.

As a message to the original poster, ArenaNet is constantly tweaking/modifying the game engine for better hardware compatibility and performance. They usually don’t implement these changes until they have weighed the pros versus the cons…but in this case…you seemed to get unlucky. The best you can do is provide ArenaNet with your full system specifications and hopefully they can find out what went wrong.

Best of luck.

ArenaNet has been doing this for years. It has nothing to do with buying collector’s editions. It’s just a lucky few get them (and sometimes select members of the community who contribute a lot via moderating forums or running fansites etc). It’s just a luck thing it seems.
