The problem is that GW2 is freezing so I have to do a hard reset and I think that’s causing some issues:
Sounds like this very well could be a problem with one of the patches. Basically game freezes, have to restart computer, get blue screen, run w7 repair and it’s corrupting w7.
The drive didn’t go bust, it’s 100% healthy. The corrupt GW2 forced Win7 to require ScanDisk to be ran after a reset, and that chunked all the data on it.
Oh wow I thought this was because of something I did. Ya it froze up on me twice and on the second time it sent me to the w7 repair where it failed. Now I have to reinstall w7….
Been having freezes as well. It’s a pretty recent problem.
I’ve had some problems with this as well. Had to hard-reset and now my W7 is corrupt so I have to do a fresh install. sigh.
I’ve been experiencing a lot of crashing myself since last patch. Tried AMD’s GW2 profile and it crashed my computer and now I have blue screen and W7 is corrupt. :-(
I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing a serious problem with the GW2 crossfire profile? It literally froze my computer and after a second time now windows will not boot.
….now I have to reinstall W7.
I googled this and people are saying they are seeing more smoothness and less stuttering in BF3.
Hi Guys/Gals
Can someone from ANET or a techy confirm this?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/FPS-TIP-Quickly-increase-your-FPS-on-multicore-CPU
P.S.: is there a performance gain with windows 7?
Thanks,

Tbh I really think stats are pretty balanced at the moment. The problem is that Agony is really throwing a wrench into things.
SOAK tanking requires a large enough of a health pool to overcome the lack of mitigation / viable healing (and this is substantially larger) and be applied against a set amount of incomming damage allowing that particular player to last longer than an ally who is not set to soak.
- or –
the applicable heals have to scale by % as opposed to set numbers.
Without one of these 2, you have a character that still dies quickly and just simply can’t keep up with heals since the incomming damage is % based and in GW2 heals are a set amount. With +Heal Power being mostly irrelivant, it means Vitality (soak) tanking isn’t viable when a debuff is based on % health in damage.
Below is a fictitious and exaggerated example to better explain the principal
Incomming damage from enemy is irrelevant because it is equal for both. For this example, we will only consider the debuff damage because it is variable based on %.
Beginning Health / Information
Health Pool 1: 20,000
Health Pool 2: 10,000
Incomming Damage from Debuff: 25% every 5 seconds
Heal: 5k every 10 seconds
Tick 1
Health Pool 1: 15,000
Health Pool 2: 7,500
Tick 2
Health Pool 1: 10,000
Health Pool 2: 5,000
Both heal
Health Pool 1: 15,000
Health Pool 2: 10,000
Tick 3
Health Pool 1: 10,000
Health Pool 2: 7,500
Tick 4
Health Pool 1: 5,000
Health Pool 2: 5,000
Both heal
Health Pool 1: 10,000
Health Pool 2: 10,000
Tick 5
Health Pool 1: 5,000
Health Pool 2: 7,500
Tick 6
Health Pool 1: 0 (DEAD)
Health Pool 2: 5000
I hope this better explains the concern the OP is expressing.[/quote]
RIGHT ON THE MONEY!
Think of all the different stat variations on armor as teeter totters and then look at the ones with vitality. The ones with vitality is like a teeter totter that is broke with both sides down. There is Risk vs Reward in all builds. Less HP (Risk) and Higher DPS (Reward) Now think of vitality with Higher HP (Risk) and Lower DPS (Risk) with no reward. Tougness is still Lower DPS (Risk) and Higher Mitigation (Reward).
Also have you seen the 1600mm soak/rep tank Ishtar in Eve? When I played years ago it was unstoppable. Yes you couldn’t out rep the damage outright, but neither could you sustain the alpha-damage. What you could do is count on your soak tank and your repairer to sustain yourself just long enough. This applies to soak tanks in this game. That dodging gives you a chance to build a little HP back into your pool.
I will tell you DO NOT go for vitality stat gear if your rolling FOTM. Currently agony is basing damage on total HP, not base HP. This means the more life you have, the more damage you will take. Even if you go condition, healing, and vitality your ability to heal back is nullified. Vitality builds get punished twice. See the post in dungeon forum for more info.
Like the title says, where do we get exotic underwater masks?
To be honest the best success I have ever had with this Shaman boss is to:
1) have the team go to one of the corners where one of the enslaved peeps are right before the Lava minons spawn.
2) once the lava minon spawn, the team holds the line with AOE and pushbacks while range is DPS the bosses bubble down
3) From start of the lava spawns the whole group is moving around the edge with all the lava minons clumped together getting AOE’d down to towards the next enslaved peep. REMEMBER stay around the edge, don’t want to be running through the lava spawns.
4) If anyone goes down, DO NOT REVIVE THEM – It is their own job to kill a lava spawns to pop back up so help them by killing the spawn with the lowest life
5) Rinse repeat – easy peezy
Irrespective of agony, vitality builds suffer because of the fixed rather than percentage based #6 heal ability. Of course, some classes have additional means to heal as well.
This was demonstrated by simple math in previous posts, and highlights an obvious fundamental flaw in the game.
This is how raw HP vs. defense works in most games, though. Raw HP provides spike/DoT protection, whereas defense (armor derived from toughness in GW2) provides more constant mitigation and acts as a multiplier for heal effectiveness.
There aren’t many MMOs I can think of where going high-HP low-mitigation was a good idea unless there were lots of mitigation-ignoring attacks.
My thoughts exactly. Lets not even talk about agony but stacking HP without any mitigation means you take more damages than someone stacking mitigation and no HP and guess what, the high mitigation setup is always easier to get back to full health.
Vitality without mitigation has always been lacking in the healing department.
The problem with agony is that toughness won’t help you mitigate the damages either, condition removal neither, you need agony resistance or increased healing power.Considering the same healing power, toughness is weak against big hits and conditions, vitality is weak versus agony and sustain damages cause you won’t manage to get back to full health easily.
So if you run a low hp/toughness/glass canon build, you won’t suffer as much from agony and doesn’t necessarily need lots of agony resistances against most bosses. If you run a vitality build, you will need this agony resistance or better healing. But anyway for Jade maw, at some lvl, every setup will need agony resistance cause even if you heal through it, it lasts for so long that you’re gonna get down and maybe die regardless of your setup.
Why should toughness builds be more punished than vitality ones when agony can’t be removed? It makes no sense either.
Having agony inflicting fixed damages would defeat the whole purpose of having agony resistance stat because you would just need HP. Same as if agony could be cleansed.
Have you ever heard of EVE Online? SOAK tanks have had their place right along-side mitigation in most games.
In all honesty toughness is not getting the shaft, its mitigating non-agony damage the boss and its pets are doing just like vitality builds are soaking up non-agony damage the boss and its pets are doing. If you have agony do % of the base stats it equals out. You will be able to heal up just fine and your mitigation will protect you. So if you lose 40% of your health (without any vitality) to agony with toughness you will have 60% left, where vitality will lose 40% the base HP leaving total HP above 60%, but keep in mind 80% hp w/o mitigation will keep you alive just as long with 60% hp with mitigation. Just because vitality builds will have more % hp left than toughness builds does not mean the player will stay alive any longer.
Actually take a deeper look at this. Why should vitality builds that are giving up damage be singled out and punished twice. This is like -2 (low DMG, high inc DMG) +1 (Extra life) = 0. The math simply does not add up. Cutting agony to base stats equalizes all armor. The math is now -1 (low DMG) +1 (extra life)= 0. That math equals out.
Compare to Rampagers
+1 (high damage) -1 (low HP or tough) = 0. Every other set of armor has its perks set to net equality.
Why should vitality builds be better? Their not, they need to be equal. Do the math. Glass cannon or tank they should equal in the end.
Anyone have anything to add or some concerns with basing Agony damage on Profession base HP vs Total HP? Agony with base HP wouldn’t punish anyone.
Like I said, tokens should be the way to go, but at least give us the opportunity to turn in the rings we did work hard to get (well some of us) for those tokens to get rings we want.
With people getting rings based on RNG and to the upset of many, can we please trade in our rings (for a limited time) and actually get rings that compliment our playstyle? GW2 was so successful because their crafting mechanic allowed people to create items that fit the need of the player. Why is this constantly not done everywhere else? WvW are still stuck with crappy gear and something as simple as Token for Ascended items got overlooked. :-(
Omg, thanks for the post above!
Tell you whats a simple fix, just have Agony do a % damage of your intial/base HP (not buffed by stats). That way regardless of what Profession/Class you are you won’t be singled out. Then on top of that, vitality builds won’t be punished either!
Like I’ve said before, Agony should do a flat amount of damage. People that don’t have vitality can still heal up just as fast and have agony resistance negate the amount of damage. It is really that simple. You shouldn’t be punished twice for having vitality though – e.g. lower dps and extra damage taken.
Why on earth do we have ascended rings and not tokens. Don’t get me wrong, but I have no purpose for my ring other than agony. Why not let us pick out our stuff?
Personally I think a reasonable flat amount against all classes would be the best.
Cash shop idea?
Personally I think the best thing they could introduce was what RIFT implimented. Loved the fact that my Cleric could DPS, Heal, and Tank.
+1 This should have been done before launch.
Love this idea. Will post an idea to build off of later.
First of all I understand some people are going to scream because they have this fear that the game will be taken over by kittens, but I think the option of Account/Parental Controls would be great.
Here’s why I’d support it:
My brother-in-law is suffering from Aspergers (light/mild Autism) and I’d like to do my part to help him enjoy life. He can drive, work, etc, but as many families with Autistic family members know, depression can be a serious hindrance to their life.
Video games have shown to help people that suffer from this disorder so I’d like to give it a try. My main concern is that account management might be needed to avoid addiction and possibly extra/ridiculas charges from the Trading Post.
I know we block access via the authenticator, but once it’s unlocked that Trading Post could be a serious problem.
Anyways that’s my 2 silvers.

Still looking for a guild!
Like the title says, looking for a group on jade Quarry running FOTM till next WvW content.
I think we all agree an in game poll would be best, but how would it be implemented? People can spam forums without annoying in game. Maybe use forum polls as a gauge for ANet to create in game polls?
I think both are needed. Do the poll like SWTOR. Or maybe send a message in game to vote. The problem that we have with in game polling is that the player base is fighting against the House. We probably wouldn’t have seen ANet post a poll on the controversial top of ascended gear.
Hi ANet,
Its come to many gamers attention that we need some way to voice our opinion and yet provide ANet with accurate numbers.
So what we need is forum polling that is tied to our GW2 accounts so there’s no extra voting going on.
We deserve a way to single out the majority and a way for the ANet team to focus on what is desired most.
Thank You ANet,
Goloith
Be nice to see how people feel after the AMA.
Can anyone confirm this?
I think that since a few of the classes have weapon swap, I think engineers should have the perk of armor swap. We have so many kits and if we could swap into our other gear that would be awesome.
Thank you. Will try this. Any other great suggestions?
Hi guys/gals,
Saw this on the wiki and was wondering about this:
Additionally, the total amount of damage done can be increased by the player’s Condition Duration attribute, although burning, poison, and bleeding only deal damage once per second, meaning that any fractional duration is wasted for these conditions.
So if I have a rune that increases condition duration by 10% and bleeding by 15% which is a net gain of 25% for bleeding and my Explosive Shot is a two second duration it will not increase damage at all because it will only bring my duration to 2.5 seconds and not 3 seconds. I’m pretty a condition built engineer with rampagers gear so not sure to roll with rune of the mad king or divinity.
Divinity is really nice. It increases 7 stats by 60 points and gives you 12 crit damage increase to boot. I’m running full rampagers with 69% crit chance and its amazing (bit squishy). Sure there are runes that will buff damage for condition builds, but the runes have power on them.
Personally I think rune of the mad king might give divinity a rune for its money.
Edit: Rune of the Mad King probably better if your rolling glass cannon.

Fantastic idea. Guys/gals make sure to encourage people in-game to visit this too. Wish GW2 had polls built into their forums.
Hi guys/gals,
Just picked up my second 6970 and I was wondering what I need to do to catalyst/GW2 wise after I’ve have my cards crossfired? Heard something about drivers and a cap? What a cap?
If someone could be so kind to push me in the right direction that would be much appreciate.
Sincerely,
Goloith
Looking for a great WvW guild on the top 6 servers.
I think if we upped the HP in WvW things would be a bit more fun. Running into a zerg of damage is really annoying. If we could boost HP by at least 5k that would be fantastic. If the vitality builds get more that’s ok.
I feel your pain. Now imagine being at work providing for your family and then being screwed over.
When this event launched I was at work. Really pisses me off that I’m punished for putting food on my table.
I think it is pretty sad that we don’t have a dungeon finder and people are getting “excessive messaging” messages because they’re looking for a group. Why the hell wasn’t this rolled out way before FOTM?
So here’s my suggestion to take GW2 to the next level. Since ANet messed up big with these ascended items and didn’t fix the real issue (the community) here is the solution: WvW/Open World WvW
-Use Tyria Map as an instanced WvW.
-Allow servers to take stake in this world
-Creation of in-game alliances
-Allow guilds to take stake within server own sovereignty
-Each region is its own server. This will allow a high population of players.
-Each region/zone will have specific resource perks. These resources are used in WvW structure and some siege equipment.
-Allow players to create their own housing/structures within guild properties.
-Allow guilds to create forts and castles.
-Fast travel waypoints will be of strategic importance: waypoints can only be used if the server owns the adjacent areas. Connect the dots.
-WvW can earn badges for gear, equipment, and structures
>PvEers can do the same. This will allow them to partake in this and will help the server as a whole.
-The current WvW battlegrounds will allow smaller servers to compete if they’re forced off the instanced Tyria world and to harass others.
-Condense some servers to accommodate all this.
This is just a start but it would be awesome to see people build off something like this.
Lvl 80 Engineer with full exotics looking for a WvW guild on the following servers:
Stormbluff Isle
Jade Quarry
Sea of Sorrows
Blackgate
Sanctum of Rall
Isle of Janthir
Was wondering what the average wait times were for entering WvW on these servers?
