Hey guys,

I know that I like many love supply crate, but I was wondering if some HGH builds have been running Elixir X with some success. popping this Elixir would give you another two stacks of might and surprisingly they offer a lot of control.
+ Rampager:
-Kick = knockback
-Throw Bolder =Knockdown
-Stomp = Launch

So maybe run (1) Kick (2) Charge (3) Stomp (4) Throw bolder (5) exit elite

and for tornado:

Just constantly knocking them down and killing them?

Anyone had much success with this? Haven’t had time to try since the Engineer build I love is currently bugged out because condition duration isn’t working atm.

Ayestes I love my Engineer and my 100% condition build is meant for taking camps, 1 vs. 1-2 , but I just really wish that they would make some radical changes. So what if the Engineer for one patch is OP, maybe we will actually see increased enrollment of Engineers verse bleeding numbers.

In all honesty I’d probably run my Engineer in WvW full-time again if they just fixed half the buggy equipment out there like Runes of Lyssa & Mad King and fix Giver’s weapon stats (condition duration).

Why do you think that is the case? I don’t think we are much worse off then any other profession out there. I actually think we are great in WvW. Could you elaborate?

I thought the Engineer was fine in WvW until I played other professions. I’ll list the few that I have tried:

Warrior: Can do an incredible amount of damage in or out of a zerg. They also can play support better than the engineer with their shouts and banners. They still can DPS while they’re in PVT armor fairly well – Engineer can’t even possibly do that much damage and even my loved Boon Spiking Engineer that can do 40s seconds of 18 stacks of might for a party of 5 is not as effective as that warrior with shouts, his DPS, and his survivability.

Guardian: Don’t get me wrong this is a profession that an Engineer can take on in a 1vs1 and win because he can kite them in WvW, but when it comes to total utility the Guardian out boons them, removes conditions almost as good as them, has access to speed without having to trait for it, can do more damage, and has more survivavility.

Mesmer: They are practically the most important profession in competitive WvW. They have stealth/portal/timewarp. They can remove boons and conitions, they do an incredible amount of DPS and have a ton of survivabilty. Have you ever used the endurance sigil ikittenerg on zerg fight? 100% endurance to dodge to repeatedly shatter clones. Now they are allowing them to hit more than one target with sceptor & greatsword. Like the one guy said in the interview this is going to be OP as ever.

Thief: haven’t played but are insane at soloing people with little skill. Yes gear block and elixir s are glorious for them to waste all their skills on.

Ranger:……GS ranger here we come. Tbh they need more

Necro: incredibly powerful in a group, but yes they need bug fixes.

On a side note, the boon spiking engineer is getting a minor damage boost because it uses both rifle and thumper turrets.

In my opinion the Devs see the engineer in the vision of PvP and not WvW. I really would like to start seeing them making things more WvW centric.

I’m continuing to be impressed with the pessimism. They aren’t going to radically change the way things work, changes are going to be slow and gradual. You can tell their biggest fear is creating something that is overpowered. I see nothing wrong with that stance.

There is no way a Dev will see a class like an Engineer main player will. This is completely understandable. These three in particular have to play all eight classes. Of course they aren’t going to know everything about every class. It’s their job to work on it yes, but they can’t spend all of their job playing each class 2 to 3 hours a day like many of us can. Are there are others that perhaps do? Maybe, but you can’t expect these three in high level positions to know every single little issue. They know what they can scrape up themselves and what other people tell them. Their sources of information are internal and external, and even then you have to take all the external discussion with quite the grain of salt. If they took some of the suggestions on these boards and just implemented them, we’d be the most overpowered class by a mile. I love the discussion on these boards, but even I can see (especially when it gets so pessimistic) how radical some of the ideas proposed are.

As it stands, we aren’t beyond broken in our current state. We do need an awful lot of work, but so do the other seven classes in this game. We may need some more work then others, but really the biggest issue right now is build diversity and the vast majority of players have this issue.

@ Goloith, I honestly think that as long as they are giving turrets attention things are looking up. They really do have quite a danger of overbuffing those things, and making them mandatory in many situations by doing so. I mean I agree they suck pretty badly right now, but the concept could easily go overboard. Besides, we don’t even know the exact changes.

Low amounts of RNG are perfectly tolerable. Critical Hits for example are pretty commonly accepted. I’m perfectly fine with having a little RNG, but again the whole point is they know it’s an issue. The changes they suggested to Elixir U sound like the right track to me, I don’t understand why it’s not a great thing. Again, I hate the way RNG is setup now but it really looks like they are trying to ease it.

I really think there is a way to balance kits in terms of direct damage and condition damage together. I do think there needs to be a lot of work across nearly the entire game in this area in terms of improving hybridization of the types especially in mandatory skills (like Downed State), but I do think hybridization is possible. An example is Grenade Kit for the Engineer. It works with condition damage builds and direct damage builds just fine. The condition builds gain damage cooldowns, while the direct damage builds gain damage cooldowns and another variant of auto-attack. If it’s possible to balance for one kit, I’m sure it’s possible to balance for all sorts weapons. I do wish this topic was brought up though, I’d like to hear the devs response to it.

Sorry I kinda picked you out of this discussion to talk to, I really do respect your opinion. I just disagree with this instance of your opinion, really just because it’s so negative when I don’t think it needs to be. Deep down I agree with you on the core issues, I just think the devs are either addressing it and/or can be solved successfully concerning these topics.

GW2 No Go in Eyefinity Portrait

Most of the time I’ve been playing in Eyfinity at 5040 × 1050 and I wanted to see how much work it would take to be able to play at 3150 × 1680 (Portrait Mode)

However, the problem is that whenever I launch GW2 the screen flashes 3-4 times and refuses to load. I tried making it run on just one screen and it does the same thing.

Any fixes or a instructions/video on how to do this properly? Want to test this before I buy a nice 3 monitor stand.

So what did I take away from this interview:

  1. ANET is absolutely out of touch with the engineer. We’re going extinct and this is the best they can come up with.
  2. Another failed attempt at turrets. What the need to do is create a turret kit. Skill #1 does damage and AoE heals turrets(maybe make a talent point in inventions that increases this AoE radius). Skills #2-#5 will now just be turrets (rifle, fire, rocket,& net).
    This would really give engineers a unique defensive playstyle by retreating and dropping turrets in a circle to kite the enemy and then swapping to weapons/kit to fight the enemy in the middle of your turrets. Or maybe make engineer super defensive holding choke points in WvW (they might have to adjust CD in PvP(.
  3. Turrets are going to need an actual buff in WvW so they are viable…..or they could maybe make a turret kit mentioned above and keep their HP as it is.
  4. WE HATE RNG. So you explain how players hate it yet you still keep it, really?
  5. Our kits need to either be condition damage or direct damage and if they want one mixed kit that is fine. Does that mean that we need to remove all conditions from direct damage kits? No! Blinds are great, vulnerability compliments the kit,knock backs and non-damage conditions are great to work into direct damage kits. Vice-versa ANET needs to pick a kit that they want to make full condition damage and scrap the direct damage from it. There’s a reason that many people love P/P because it does all of these things but it suffers from the damage tax. My suggestion would be that if ANET made a turret kit to turn wrench kit into pure condition damage. #1 would be an AoE boomerang bleed, #2 would be magnet discharge that blows the target away for 1000 (let’s be honest nails suck)
  6. This isn’t exactly just Engineers, but we need to have gear/runes that work. for example fixing Giver’s weapon condition duration would be a huge benefit to help make condition engineers on par with other builds and professions.

I know I posted some negative feedback, but I really am dying to play my Engineer again. He was my first character and after seeing how finished the guardian and Mesmer (and the insane GS & Scepter buff) its hard to play the profession.

I’d really like to see something like this that people could contribute to as well. This would help smaller servers stick it to the bigger servers. Don’t get me wrong I’m on the best server there is, but I want to see competition when things are obviously not in some servers favor. For example I think if teams turned in X amount of tokens (not badges) they could have a NPC commander enter the field where ever they want it to go. So if some server is really getting hit hard they can have their break out event and then another one hitting a different place.

In my opinion if the servers are equally matched up this shouldn’t be a problem since every server will have something at stake and if they don’t then it gives more incentives to the defenders. Anyways I’m sure the commanders in the guild I’m would say absolutely not because they are already putting a ton of time in, but it’s an idea.

Multi-kit tanking is possible, but the problem is that many professions can do things much better than an engineer. For example a guardian can use 2 blocks for the entire party and reflect/block 3 incoming projectiles as well. So if you want tanking and group tanking guardian does it better. When it comes to DPS all the other classed do a much better job as well.

The Engineer is very versatile profession, but the problem is that it lacks specialization which is really important for higher level fractals where diversity is already mixed by professions. It’s specialization is versatility, jack of all trades, ok at all, but never great.

Increase condition duration across the board

Actually the last thing we need is more condition duration. What we need is an intensity increase. Many of the skills out there for example, Explosive shot for the Engineer does 1 stack of bleed per hit, this needs to be increased to an AoE Bleed from the explosive shot or it needs to have two stacks of bleed per hit. Another idea would actually to just up the amount of damage that bleed & poison do. Another idea is to just get rid of condition stacking and allow every individual to stack condition damage on targets, that alone would be a huge boost.

If your a P/P Engineer I recommend rolling with Wrench Kit since it’s confusion stacking is so powerful in WvW…it also direct damage also hits like a truck too.

Tbh I think the P/P 100% Duration HGH (Rabid) build will probably be the most powerful single target build available once they fix Giver’s Weapons. Once their fixed it will be possible to have 100% condition duration on all conditions and have the benefit of stacking 15-18 stacks of might. On a side note, one could run Rampager’s with the condition duration runes and really benefit from the power/cd/prec for a grenade build (currently I’m pretty sure Rampager’s is a better choice for grenades or Berserker for power builds).

I may be infracted for this, but as far as I am concerned, Im speaking the truth. Anet have a vested interested in keeping precursors costing alot of coin. Why? Because they are clearly cutting costs on development and adding as much grind to the game to compensate for it. So reducing the cost of precusors by any method would contradict their current outlook towards the game. I think spending coin for a few pixels is a terrible choice, but if you have alot of coin… 600g for a precursor aint going to get much better or worse.

This really confused me.. Cutting costs and compensating for it with grind..

The idea is, keep people active by grinding (the same content) rather than developing content to keep them engaged.

So your saying they are making the game terrible to keep us playing, and even though that terrible idea would lose all the players, thats okay because they don’t need money to support their company or families for that matter? I guess I’m just confused, maybe its cause its 3am. Because the idea that a company would make people grind to keep them in a game that is (after purchase) free to play and requires micro-transactions to survive boggles me.

I know what you mean. They don’t want to pay their employees for new content so they leave precursors to RNG so players buy gems so they can get a legendary. ANET gets the most profit this way except their wrong. Most people that have a legendary or obtain then did so through RNG and flipping the trading post without purchasing a single gem. They need to improve the drop rate considerably to broaden their customer base. Right now they might find 1/1000 that will pay gems for a precursor, broaden the base by increasing dr and they might have 1/100 buying gems.

No More New Currencies for New Rewards

Personally I think that their should only be 3 currencies in this game, Gold, Gems, & Karma. This would give people the freedom they really enjoy.

The problem ANET has is that they are trying to cater to the minority of the players out there that (A) have no life/job and play all day (2) People that spend no dollars[$$$] because they can game all day (3) Are some of the rudest people alive
Also ANET is worried that these hardcore players will already have thousands of badges of honor,karma, tokens, relics, & etc and that if ANET doesn’t create a new currency the hardcore players are going to be decked way before everybody else because they have excess currencies.

My answer? Screw them. They don’t contribute to keep ANETs staff on to create more content so why should the game be about them? They can sit there and twittle their thumbs while the rest of the content comes out slowly. Majority of the players want as few of currencies as possible so they’re not gated into content that they hate……like f-ing jumping puzzles.

Make Precursors obtainable through vendors

Personally we really should have precursors purchasable from the vendor or through a quest-line. I know people are going to cry fowl that they can’t make their hundreds of gold flipping them on the market, but the fact of the matter is precursors were implemented in one of the worst ways ever and ANET needs to correct that. If you a person that spent a fortune on one well that’s too bad. Think about the guys that sold precursors for 35gold? ANET didn’t refund them so get over yourselves. Do I think they need to remove precursors and legendaries from the market? Absolutely not.

Very easy to say all of this as a player, but in their position it’s a completely different. These are the kinds of reactions that ANet wants to avoid.

We’ll after all the blunders they have implemented over and over it’s hard to say that they would want to avoid angering the playerbase.

Tbh I think the biggest mistake people make with the HGH build is spam all their potions at once and then have them all on cooldown during the fight. A HGH player will pop the buff ones first and the utility ones later.

100% condition duration is nice, but with the last patch they broke a few of the runes needed to achieve that. Until they fix Giver’s weapons this build only benefits the burn/bleed duration.

Precursor Manipulation

Anybody that thinks that Legendaries are being manipulated must have very little knowledge on how economics/markets work. Speculators are an essential part of every market.

I like many do not own a precursor and as much as I would love to have one I am not going to resort to dumbing myself down and say the market isn’t being fair. The only thing that wasn’t fair was ANET going back on their own words and making legendaries better than exotics. Another thing that wasn’t fair was the RNG with the Karka event that screwed over thousands of players and reward some people with 2 precursors and some with none. Again this isn’t the market’s fault, this is a design/implementation fault.

What ANET needs to do however is give people who are willing to put the time in a path to creating something truly legendary. They need to create a storyline and break-points within the weapons’s development that makes is usable and upgradeable till it’s a legendary. The weapon has to be 100% obtainable if a person put’s in this incredible amount of effort.

A Legendary should be for a Legendary player, not some idiot warrior that can’t stay up 5 seconds in a dungeon or in WvW.

Its all good. Remember people run the builds that fit their playstyle. For example Mask loves the cloak on immobilize for some added survivability. I just know that if I see someone cloak which is because the dudes stuck I’m going to probably going to keep swinging in that Area. Have you tried the wrench kit? Its is a beast since confusion duration was increased and his like a truck. I would swap that out for bomb kit. With blowtorch and the burn trait in explosives you shouldn’t have to hard of time keeping burn up either.

Yea it fixed the map for me.

I have been using it since the game launched. If it did not work I would no longer play the game since I am addicted to three screens.

There has been zero problems with my screens and I have gone from ati crossfire 6850 to 7970.

How does it fix the map?

I’m sorry but this a terrible build. I’ll explain.

  1. You are carrying a bomb kit which is best used with power, not condition damage.
  2. You are not using a Rifle which has the best CC and best for setting up bombs.
  3. You should be going knights gear.
  4. You have no points into firearms yet you use p/p. That’s over 6 stacks of might required to make up for that condition damage.

Alright I can’t just post the bad I’ll post what you did right:

  1. Excellent Rune choice
  2. Rabid gear is the best if you would have went Wrench Kit, but with a HGH build kitless probably would be best.
  3. You went for might in explosives and veggie pizza for duration.
  4. Your thinking outside the box, except ANET is yet to finish this profession so people are trying to squeeze as much out as they can.

Music was OK, but opponents weren’t nothing great. If you want to see good builds check out Masks posts

That is a really great idea, but people would complain that condition removal would now be useless even though direct damage would still be higher. Personally I think condition removal should be removed from the game. Conditions should be damage that is equal to direct damage, but is damage over-time and its counter would be healing through it. If a person thinks about it people stack toughness for the same reason to buy themselves time to heal up again.

Right now condition damage is inferior because the multiplier that increases it is at risk because it can be removed completely. A good player can almost always remove a condition.

What ANET needs to do is just get rid of all these other gold/skill sinks and just worry about removing supply from the game so that it balances out.

What do they need to do? They need to make it so that people can just throw in a set number of items from tiers 1-5 and the item is promoted to the next tier. Does this mean that we will probably see orichalcum ore tank, in the short-run yes, but it will pick back up after the initial shock and keep in mind that even though orichalcum ore is going to go down the price of ores tier 1-5 are going to go up. This will actually help the economy and game as a whole. ANET wants people in all different zones whether it’s zone 1-10 or 70-80 and this would help achieve this.

I know people are probably thinking that if Tier 6 mat’s drop because people are now off-loading a lot of tier 5 materials that crafted items are going to drop they are correct. Then again, the best items in the game aren’t all craftable, just the backpiece. This would also make some of the extreme crafting requirements for these materials actually logical. Maybe have

In all honesty ANET needs to look to successful MMO’s that have a real working economy and Eve Online is a great place to start.

What drives the Eve Online Economy? Adequate supply & demand. What does not work is excess supply & limited demand.

Right now ANET is trying to get people to do the “Living Story” events because they want to people to go to the low levels zones. Well a person has to ask, what keeps people in Eve Online in high-sec mining Tritanium? Material sinks, not gold sinks.
Why do people mine these low level ores? Because everything are destructible and cannot be insta-replaced for free by respawning. Does that mean that GW2 must be like that? Absolutely not, but there are ways to do it.

These are some simple ideas that would make the economy work:

  1. Remove all repair stations from the game.
  2. Create Repair Kits from Tier 1-5 materials from all crafting except for cooking, Tier 6 has enough demand the way it is and this would only worsen the problem. These repair kits are exactly the same, but would have tiers based on the tier of materials used that would allow more charges. Why? Because people don’t want to be carrying around 3+ repair kits.
  3. Can upgrade tiers using mystic forge by combining like 3 repair kits to go to the next tier.
  4. Remove BLTP repair canister

Results:
-Now people have the ability to repair on the spot and don’t have to be wasting their time going to a vendor or having to go leave a dungeon or fractal to repair. People will pay for this convenience.
-This will be slow the amount of gold pumped into the economy that is created from selling to the vendor. It will now be salvaged and used for making repair kits.
-People will start going to low level zones – Maybe reward those who are higher level who are down leveled with increased drop rates of the lower tier materials.
-The average player will now be able to make some money from other players (switching hands) vs. getting gold from the vendor (creating gold).
-This would greatly distribute the wealth in the game without taking from those that have already accumulated it because every person has skin in the game. Sure the wealthy are going to get richer, but the average person can have a dependable income source from participating in whatever they like.
-Reducing the supply of gold will increase the amount of gems needed (devalue) to be purchased for the previous amount of gold. This is great for in-game economies and will actually help ANET make more money from people willing to buy stuff will real dollars. Don’t get me wrong demand will have some blowback because some people will now see buying gems as not as viable of an option, but there will be many people still out there that will see working IRL cheaper than playing the game for hours for in-game cash.

Also another suggestion would be:

During the first 3 months of launch GW2 experienced a huge botting problem. This is no secret. During this time the bots flooded the economy dramatically increasing the price of gems. While the staff did a great job of smashing all the bots, they never removed all of the gold produced by the bots from the game. Why haven’t they done so? With gems being literally worth more than the American dollar, people are spending a lot of real world cash on gems to then convert them into in game gold or spending them in the gem store for upgrades. What does this mean? This means a consistent flood of money for ArenaNet. There’s nothing wrong with them making cash, that’s what the industry is all about, but it does seem unfair that the players are the ones having to bite the bullet for the damage caused by the bots. There are two simple options to correct this problem that ArenaNet has failed to take. One. They could devalue the gems by gifting each player a set amount of gems. The players would then flood the market with the gems and bring down the value of them giving the players the fair market that they deserve. This would mean less money for ArenaNet of course. The other option is a total reset of the economy. Again this would decrease the cash flowing into the pockets of ArenaNet but isn’t it only fair? Why should we have to continue to suffer an inflated economy when it’s clearly not our fault? It’s a shame.

I wonder where I’ve heard this line of talk before…….oh I remember!

Goloith, I read your post and the article on effect stacking. When it comes to duration stacking conditions, it doesn’t actually slow down the killing of a target. If lots of condition damage players apply their burn after your weak one, then the game will re-order the durations to always have the highest condition damage go first and once it expires, it applies the next strongest. If players continually re-apply burn, then your weak one will keep getting pushed to the back of the line and never actually tick on the target until other players stop applying.

Had to re-read the wiki, tbh that is great news for condition duration builds. The worry was that condition duration builds would slow the amount of damage on the target. I’ll update my post when i get a chance.

Think about it, if a burn does 730 CD per tick for 4 ticks (2920) it will do more total CD than 850 CD for 2 or 3 ticks (1700-2550). The trade off is that condition damages can be removed so the longer a condition is on the more noticeable it becomes. Same thing for bleeds. Keep in mind condition duration stacking at lower CD is bad for zergs so 100% duration builds work best in small groups or solo.

P.S. the reason your not seeing a big difference is because you probably have over 10 points in explosive so with 40% condition duration, plus the 10%+ condition duration from traits. The 50% Duration/Condition Damage builds really shine ikittenerg over that of 100% condition duration builds.

Tbh a 100% condition duration (2x ticks) build with HGH is will probably be the new META for small gang or solo WvW, but it is currently not attainable until Giver’s weapons are fixed.

The build would be: 20/20/00/30/00 with condition duration runes and Giver’s weapons. This should basically push all conditions over 100% duration and give you about 16-18 stacks of might for about 1800-1900+ condition damage. AGAIN, this is not a reality till condition duration on the Giver’s weapons are fixed. With the current problems with condition stacking I can see ANET ignoring this.

I understand that there are some great Engineers out there that know what they’re doing and that’s great, but if you took your amount of skill as a player and applied it to some of the other classes you would see this huge flaw with the Engineer. This would be one of the easiest fixes that ANET could do to stop the bleeding of Engineers to other professions. Saying “Oh the classes is fine without this” while your profession is dwindling down into extinction is kinda stupid.

The badges need to be converted to pristine badges in my opinion or you could just lower the cost of exotic badges and then require like 500-750 badges per ascended item.

I think that making the item that is soulbound to account bound would be the right balance without destroying the economy with excess supply. However this will slow demand for goods, but will definitely put some money in ANET’s pocket to develop the game.

I’ve been talking about the 100% condition Engineer for some time now. Here’s a link awhile back that I posted:

Right now condition duration is broken since Lyssa & Mad King runes are broke and to my knowledge and Nightmare is actually broken (but in a good way).

I run this build for WvW in small groups. Keep in mind that anything that stacks in duration is detrimental to a large group(or zerg) because you will be doing less damage per second and hogging up all the condition duration vs that of condition damage builds. However in condition intensity such as bleeds you will still shine ikittenerg or solo.

100% duration builds pump out the most total condition damage, but it can be cleansed and other reason to stay away from zergs.

You are delusional to think that the Engineer is at an advantage to that of an Elementalist. That dagger Ele kitten face so this idea that it is at a disadvantage is untrue. I know many people have trust issues with ANET touching professions because they fear it will lead to a disaster like Kit Refinement. What the O kitten uggesting is a buff to the Engineer and tbh unless we get some buffs we’re going to continuously get crapped on by the community and dwindle further.
