In order of importance :

1. Breakstun.
2. Kiting AND damage AoE tool on Elixer4.
3. HUGE heal and light field on Elixer5.
4. On demand poison access Elixer3.
5. Bleed/Weakness on autoattack for those pesky rangers while closing the distance.

EDIT :
Elixer S has a breakstun and invisibility, however after breaking stun it prevents you from attacking. It also has zero damage component and generally less utility as well.

In sPvP you generally want it in a condi build to help you at range and sustain while your condis get a chance to damage your opponent.

I know this is satire, but it brings up an interesting point how most defensive stats are completely useless in PvP. A sign of poor game balance or just a phase of the metagame? I think active defenses need to be nerfed a bit.

I tend to agree here, but the problem is that will accentuate zerker meta MORE, simply because toughness and vitality don’t do ENOUGH.

I am getting the idea that the issues some people are experiencing are NOT server related.

I would like to just guide people on how to check this with a few very simple test.

The following are tested in Windows 7 Command prompt, to get the.
Click Start > type cmd > press Enter.

Testing latency and packet loss independent of ANET servers :
Type the following :
ping [website] -t |||||||||||||||||| For example ping www.example.com -t

After a while you can hold CTRL and press C to cancel this.

Your average ping should not fluctuate wildly, there should be less than 7% packet loss, preferably less and around 200ms ping to international websites should be fine for WvW to avoid skill lag or DCs.
If you have packet loss(excessive amount of packets failed to return or timed out) then the issue is your internet connection, not ANET.

Testing bandwidth :

Since there are A LOT of different types of internet connection out there, the simplest way to do this is just to go speedtest.net and run the test.
You should have at least 2MBps down and 0.4Kbps up for a decent experience in WvW. Anything less and you will have issues.

Checking your latency to ANET server : (This does NOT equate to in game ping as mentioned before by ANET network guys, but should give you a more accurate idea of how far traffic needs to go and how reliable your internet connection is to ANET server).

In game use the /ip command to get the IP of the server you are on.
Use that IP and follow the below instructions in cmd just as we did before.

ping [ip] -t |||||||||||||||||| for example ping 197.214.33.21 -t

Hold CTRL and C to cancel again and see the results.

If all of this is normal (if you are not sure, ask me) then you can be relatively(not 100%) sure that the problem server side.

Why does it matter if karma training is “mindless”? Some people enjoy it. Just because you don’t doesn’t mean they shouldn’t. It’s not a real WvW map, the score means nothing, if you’re just waiting on a Q you shouldn’t be there for any longer than 30 minutes to an hour so why can’t you just farm for the short while you’re there instead of complaining the whole time about how PvE’rs are ruining your gaming experience? If people are intentionally going to EOTM to have blob v blob fights then they must be sorely misinformed about the state of the map. It doesn’t matter what people want it to be, it is what it is and going there to cry about it isn’t going to change anything. Oh look a park was made and instead skaters are using the slides as a halfpipe and kids never go there because they don’t like it. Same idea. Just because it was made for something else doesn’t mean it’s wrong for people to use it a different way. It still sees plenty of action just not in the way ANet had in mind. Regardless it was a huge success besides the whiners who go there just to whine that not enough fights are happening or the tryhards that go there to steamroll disorganized uplevels.

So you are saying that the people interested in PvP on EotM should just GTFO?

WvWers, who get the LEAST out of this game, should respect PvE farmers and just leave them alone in a PVP map? Smart

when it comes do condi cleanse i would propose following changes:

New master trait in strength line replacing powerful banners:
Brutal Comeback – cleanses 2 conditions off you when you successfuly interrupt an opponent. Internal cooldown: 10 seconds.

As for cleansing ire i would suggest following change:

  • Cleansing Ire* – when using burst skill consume a bar of adrenaline to cleanse a condition, up to 2 bars. If burst skill hits, returns half of consumed adrenaline to you.

Example:
You have 3 conditions on you and 3 bars of adrenaline. You use your hammer burst (earthshaker) on enemies. They are hit with lvl 1 earthshaker, becuase CI consumed 2 bars to take 2 condies off you.

Because you successfully hit them, one bar (half of 2 consumed by ci) is returned to you and you now sit with one condition left and 2 bars of adrenaline.

CI will now activate regardless of hit/miss, but hitting will be rewarded with half the adrenaline cost.

I approve!

and the consecpt for dx 9 to be in line with console was a closer to equal gameplay expericance between console users and PC so one didnt out way the other in visual performance

The real reason for dx9 was someone got a little greedy and figured the console would be better then they are and downgraded there already dx10/11 engine to dx9 to make a console release of Gw2. But it failed terrable because it would not run this engine just took to many resources to do what they wanted. its pretty sad this game would be something super special had someone not been too greedy

1. Consoles didn’t run on directX until lately. So they require completely different coding until the Xbox One and PS4. These 2 are also perfectly capable of running DX11.

2. The Gw2 engine is a heavily modified version of the GW1 engine, which was… You guessed it… DX9.

Yet you all think that Turrets should last longer than other AI classes? Nope. You’ve just been weighed and measured. AI has always been a 1v1 duelist/bunk spec.

The nerf is fine.

Evasion Thief is a thing.
But the QQ about Cele continues.
The only reason for the QQ is people still do not understand when to do what vs a cele user, they are a jack of all trades but only when cooldowns are down or they are in the incorrect attunment.

Stop SPAMALLDASKILLS in PvP and use them at the correct times and all of these supposed imbalanced stats/classes/build will come back to skill.

Can you give us an idea of what we can give you to help?
Should we for example find the IP of the server we are currently on and provide visible “ping”?
Would you like to know time, place(borderland or whatever) and situation? Large zerg vs solo roaming or small group.
Would you like us to give you an idea of the map population during the time of the skill lag?

I agree COMPLETELY with longer respawn time AT LEAST if you die. The longer you stayed alive the shorter the revive time.

Except healing turret which is simply the best most turrets are useless or situational.
The net turret is amazing in certain situations to almost permanently immobilize a target along with net shot from rifle.
Thumper toolbelt is a blast finisher that allows you to use it out of combat without wasting an otherwise important cooldown.
Rifle turret is used in static discharge builds sometimes.

A good build rarely uses all more than 1 turret.
Net has VERY few uses.

And? Taking longer to do something isn’t all that bad, its a trade-off.

So what’s the trade off? I haven’t noticed condi builds to be superior to power or crit builds as a trade off for being completely ineffective against objects.

What are the condi builds getting in return?

And taking longer to destroy an object that sits there and does nothing in return, yes, that’s bad. I can’t think of an upside there. PvInertObject is about the dullest form of gameplay possible.

More and easier defense while still being able to counter pressure.
Lower skill requirement. Mostly.
ETC.

Exactly, this reminds me of Alterac Valley now a days…. It was a great campaign of resources and bosses, now its a Zerg and over in mins.

I think Strong holds timer should be extended by a large amount. This should be a great back and forth battle to win, not a first to zerg wins!

Agreed, timer can easily be upped 5-10 mins.

Timer ran out in easily 50% of my games I’ve played so far and it was even sometimes the case, that we would’ve killed the Lord in the next minutes but somehow the other team won by points.

Not as much time-pressure just gives your team more freedom how they want to play the Map.

just be more offensive and the timer will be just fine. Play more damage base builds

only really braindead build is phantasam mesmer imo. hate the stupid dps and instant 6+ bleeds. killed a guildie today (she is a solid cele cele) without even attacking her. just ran around cloaking and summoning. it’s the only build I actually loathe, and no you can’t have it. it’s too disgusting.

also beat a really good warrior with it in 1v1, and i can hardly even play mesmer. carried by stealth and ai.

A “decent” cele ele would have cleaved your phantasms down long before they become a problem.

One thing I have noticed is that sometimes people (including me) will adjust their graphics settings and not realize they have made permanent changes This is because the game continues to draw existing characters at the old setting and only new characters get the new higher (and potentially slower) setting. Then they map travel and suddenly the game is slower because all of the characters (players and NPCs) have been loaded at the new, higher graphics level setting. But it’s not obvious that the earlier setting change caused things to run slower later. We could “fix” this by doing a big graphics refresh every time you change a setting. That might annoy players but eliminate this problem. -prefereset will also ‘fix’ this problem by resetting your graphics settings which might be what you experienced.

This DEFINITELY is not the case, most people are complaining about SKILL lag, which is indicative of a connectivity or server side problem.

Turret engis are not easily killed as condi either, the turrets still ‘do their thing’ and it is situational for you to get out of their LoS while being able to still attack that engi. E.g. the rocket turret will still hit you unless you dodge every 4 seconds, never mind what else comes your way, you only have so many blocks etc before you are unable to condi down the engineer.

If there is a turret engi in the other pug you can kiss your match goodbye as they will likely camp mid and force you to play around it (which someone will always try and take the engi on thus lowering your numbers). If there is 2 engi turrets, don’t even bother in a pug -.- unless they are terrible, which usually isn’t the case when the AI carries them.

There are new problems too with stronghold. Engi turret builds are just camping the middle, as there is nowhere to ‘rotate’ out to when you need that resource. Any one build that can lockdown a point like that without breaking a sweat is too strong.

It is pointless saying ‘l2p’ as it is a problem that purely rewards sloppy play and punishes anyone who isn’t expert or specifically built to counter them and this has been a problem for a while for a lot of classes.

So your whole point in essence, L2P? But it shouldn’t be said? Hell okay.

Expertise isn’t required, a BRAIN is required.
People complain about braindead builds and end up playing braindead with ANY builds.
