OP, I think you summed up the why in your post. With dps/burst so strong the community whines about, same with the near perma stealth. The class would be even more op if it could dominate from range as well.
Not cheating but definitely unfair and un-sportsman like. Take T1 NA for example 2v1s happen at opportune times to all servers, but when SoR and JQ far far more frequently do it, have had known reports of communication to 2v1 BG, have had players and guild leaders move to each others server, on the last few reset nights the cooperation between the 2 is just rediculous, NA prime time can go for hours without the 2 taking more then a supply camp from each other. Its less playing for your server or for battles and more; lets gang up on the name we dont like.
A-net really needs to just do 1 up 1 down matches, atleast then we may get a 4th server who can compete and will get rid of these long standing server “alliances” and grudges. I’ve had great battles with both servers, but those fights are not the ones where we are constantly outmanned 2 to 1 and its a lagfest with 2 servers holding hands.
I also enjoy the focus, I use s/f for dps, bursts and zoning in wvw. I actually like it better than d/d or staff. But it DOES need work, maybe a change to both water skills and air 5 to add an aoe effect around the target, or reduce the cooldown. Add retaliation, confusion or torment to the fire shield only given by focus… and fire 4, well hmm. Now if they added a fire trait that burnt off condis while standing in your own firefields or something, that would be cool

No reason for it to get nerfed, maybe fixed to its 5s cd it will still be just ok. Even with the bug its not op, look at thiefs, and retal for op. Most people are liking it cause it gives you access to 2 instant scepter skills quickly plus the 15 minor trait, but AT the cost of putting an entire attunement on cd for that small burst.
The whole point of a 3 way match is the weaker sides join and take on the bigger foe if the need arises. Else there would be only 2 sides.
Lol from SoR. When JQ was dominant JQ and SOR 2v1 BG, When BG is more dominant SOR and JQ 2v1 BG, When SOR is Dominant JQ and SoR 2v1 BG. For about an hour the other night SOR was wanting a 2v1 with BG against JQ, just knowing the 2 sides were cooperating put a bad taste in my mouth. After the weeks and weeks and weeks of jq & sor teaming up on BG I wanted no part in continuing that crap. Especially with all the rumors of the JQ and SoR communications and tower, keep, garrison swapping.
Now it may work ok in lower tiers where the pop of server A and B = C, but when its huge map zergs, no thank ya. The amount of skill lag caused by an entire map zerg is enough to shut the game off let alone 2 or 3 map zergs.
Shuffling the matchups is a step in the right direction. More variety and less bumbuddies.
Sooo… are fireworks and the dragon helm over? I logged in a a few times over the weekend, hanging around LA for fireworks, asking unaswered questions about when they go off. I never caught that 5 min window and would either go into WvW or log.
I waited around for 2-21/2hrs last night akitteng in LA and still nothing. Doing an event in such a small window, they should atleast give some indication of when that event occurs.
I think BG will appreciate a match up against SOR without JQ.
^ya that^. Ele’s have access to more skills so they put them on long cds, they just forgot to make some of those skills not suck :P Focus fire skills are the winner.
Would be cool and prob not op if the focus applied fire aura lasts twice as long or grants aegis.
I would just recommend not allowing any of those SoR transfers to run your server. Unless those left on JQ like 2v1ing over competition and fair play. Also try and catch and post some of their zoom hackers if you get a chance.
A better scoreboard! Keep the weekly total, add daily totals, break days into 6 hr groupings. Show map population per server as well, like a different color for every 20 players. Show the point loss/gain between servers, was A and B teaming up on C? Did B and C go back and forth while A turtled or was outmanned? I think it would go a long way for the community. Most importantly imo, the shorter time period of point tally, players can better see their contribution and IN perspective.
Also opinions on being able to change maps once every hour or 3? I think it could help with the zergs, karma trains and playing the meta by map hopping. Fight and defend what’s on your map and who u are up against.
Could a 1 sec cooldown for the retaliation proc work?
I’ve been trying out a few s/f set ups , Ive found build thats one of my fav weapon set so far for wvw. I run knights gear with scholar runes, cavaliers and berzerker trinkets 10/30/0/20/10. ER, Mistform, lighting flash, arcane blast( 1500 ranged one). Keep crit chance 50% plus with foods and no furry, armor ends up around 2.5k and max crit damage. Between the cantrips and focus skills you have long range defense and positioning, 4 blast finishers, burst potential of 6k-12k damage( depending on armor) between 3 skills, 2 instant. Dragons tooth can hit a clothy for 8k and is great for zoning and causing a dodge, its also more available than meteor shower, toss a well positioned phoenix where they dodge also. … Mistform or obsidan flesh into a zerg and cast swirling winds to shut down any range attacks, use winds for safe zones or to save or help a retreating or downed buddy, also good for stomps depending on the class. I think its more fun going up against a thief or mesmer with this build as oppose to a d/d setup. Its a bit more satisfying to burst down a thief at the right second instead of rolling around for sustain and hoping he’s in my aoe fields. I find Necros and Guardians to be more difficult than most classes, or a no range ranger :P.
To really learn s/f I’d recommend going full glass cannon first, stay alive with your spells and see what kind of serious damage you can do, then scale it back from there for your liking. But be prepared to die a lot. To the OP i’m also on BG if you ever want team up in wvw and see it in action.

—Earth Grandmaster trait 11, add “signets break stun” or “activating a signet grants an aura based on attunement”
-- Conjured weapons… allow weapon swap while the weapon is active, 15-20 sec cd.
Dust Devil should definitely be whirl finisher atleast, not sure about shatter stone… Maybe when it explodes, remove a boon, cause chill, or slightly more damage.
Remove the need to go to EB first and this would be great. An arena for those GvGs and Jp skirmishers while the WvW world wont be hurt by the same que.
There is a very strong gs, s/d build out there. Don’t know specifics exactly but it has high regen from multiple sources, numerous evades, great mobility and good dps. Better sustain and mobility than an ele and can deal with bursty classes better as well.
eh we got like 12 Choo on right now. We may have done some questionable things tonight though.
Uh oh, such as? As one of the leading guilds on SoR, it would be cool if you guys would encourage others to call out hackers. Its fun fighting you all but not so much when we see AC zoom hax clear our siege daily. FEAR has been getting worse at this lately also.
SoR wins the hardest fights during NA prime to stay in T1 you gotta respect that, so we have plenty respects for TW.
Eh I’d say its more like SoR and their massive zerg balls are able to wipe half the BG on map while the other half are busy with JQ. Relying on knowing JQ would rather have BG points, and kicking BG while they are down is in no way winning the hardest fights.

As a WvW focused player, now mistform will only be effective to enter heavily assaulted towers/keeps or as our “oh kitten” button to reposition. The problem is other classes have other means of repositioning AND being able to use skills/heals at the same time. Now Mistform will grant 3 seconds of viewable, trackable, targetable invulnerability, except for the conditions that are eating away at your low hp pool.
I can understand the change to it and the engi potion, but unless you want to continue with the bunker dd builds, this change will severley limit the survivability of an ele and other viable builds. I was just getting to enjoy a s/f build that used mistform in its old state… and guess what dd ele’s where the easiest to pick off, good thing they can’t escape any faster now.
Anet balance team-please start playing ele’s to the same extent you do thiefs and warriors. Those classes did not need buffs yet they got some very creative and cool changes to open up build diversity. Please do the same soon with other classes.
No. There are multiple aoe skills most classes have that can hit siege placed too close to the wall. That dragons tooth just sat there long enough for you to get a pic of it :P
The MIST FORM change is horrible. Why not keep it balanced and don’t allow healing or utility skills used while stealthed, under Endure Pain or other invulnerable or escape skills? This will hugely limit the viability of other ele builds besides d/d.
Lowest hp, light armor, less mobility than a warrior(even with d/d and lightning flash), mediocre damage, slow and telegraphed attacks. Unless there are some decent buffs and trait changes this class may just be dead.
The adaptable, versatile “jack of all trades” may be reduced to “jack who cant do jack nearly as well as any other jack”. But the invisible “king of mobility” and “king of burst damage” gets plenty of buffs and creative attention. … … for real?
Remove the 5 cap AOE limit. Force people to spread out, play and try new tactics and not have 40+ all standing on one commander, moving and using all their skills at the same time.
Also only limit map switching to every hour or so.
