Sometimes playing smart is incredibly kittening boring- i.e. running yaks or babying towers- so people don’t do it.

As I said, as long as you’re having fun, that’s all that matters. I don’t see throwing bodies at a gate/camp and letting us farm you is smart. But I’ll say it again, play as you want. I have no right you tell you how to play, I can only wish and hope for what I want, which is what I did.

If ANet would remove the stupid penalty for death in WvW I would be on a whole lot more.

Maguuma has been used to this since day one. We are all broke, but despite getting our teeth kicked in, we love to play. Did Yaks/IoJ never face match ups like this?

From an IoJ perspective, no. Only a few weeks ago we were fighting SoR and BG in T3!
The leaving guilds and the sudden destruction of our WvW base has had a big effect on our sever, IMO.

Understandable. But also understand that fighting in these conditions is what makes you stronger. You learn more from your defeats than your victories, and each one will help you and your server grow, until those mistakes are in the past. For example, I’m hoping the Yaks that tried to take east keep yesterday learn the importance of contesting a keep when you are attacking it. Mistakes like that rarely matter or happen when you’re on the winning end, so there’s rarely a chance to improve.

But now you’ve got a big opportunity to learn here, take advantage of it. There are many people in Maguuma that are willing to help and teach you guys some defensive strategies. Feel free to send me a PM and I’ll hook you up with someone.

I agree with you. From an IoJ perspective, a lot of our remaining player base is learning to do things, organize ourselves, and just get better without the help of a million commanders to lead zergs around in circles. We’re learning to play without commanders and more individuals are actually getting better at WvW instead of mindlessly following a zerg around.

This is what I like to hear! You guys just gotta keep at it. Support each other, help each other, teach each other, and most importantly, have fun. More cheesy lines time: Remember that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. We learned the hard way how to get along without commanders, and in the end, it made the little guys stronger and not so dependent on a blue marker. Maguuma thrived because of its community even in the face of impossible odds. It’s my belief that any other server can do it too.

We know what it’s like to be the underdog, don’t worry, we’re rootin’ for ya!

Support guardian here. Offering some suggestions, forgive me if they’re repeats, I didnt read anything in this thread.

February update stated they are looking to rework rewards in WvW. So there’s hope!
Use your staff to tag everything.
ALWAYS roll in a full party with people that are doing the same objectives are you are
Focus on fun, not loot
If you cant do any of this then the least you can do is roll a dps class until February.

But you’re right, there is no strategy to WvW. Just bang your faces against a gate and see how far that gets you. It worked for many servers, I’m sure it’ll work for you too (it wont). What is up with North West Tower’s gate? Its funky as hell. In IOJ BL yesterday, our golems couldn’t damage the gate (out of range) and all of our players could jump through it by stacking on the gate and using any leap skill.

This is not the first time I’ve seen this happen and it is always a t3 upgraded North West Tower (reinforced gate + fortified walls).

Look at this nice guy try and save face. You know it was the superior tactics of Maguuma hackers.

There are a few hills that you can easily jump up to get into the spawn area. It could be fixed with a minor landscape alteration, but no-one particularly cares due to the invulnerable buff + tons of guards inside.

It has nothing to do with that. There is no jumping or glitching involved. We just do it for fun. That’s how Maguuma rolls.

I honestly expected more from Yak’s but their teamwork and coordination is extremely lacking. It really makes it hard for me to give them credit for their work against Maguuma a few weeks ago. It’s like they try to do something, start failing at it, then completely fall apart.

Yaks got all the way to east keep lord, they didn’t contest the way point so this allowed Mag to pour in. Mag wipes them.

Yaks got to inner at west keep, they start running around the walls, not sure of what to do. Mag wipes them.

During both times Yak’s and Mag held equal numbers. But Mag pushed with ease.

Three people run at a group of 10 IoJ, they fall back. IoJ builds a cata in arrowcart range TWICE and a treb in open field, AS we are watching them… it’s like a bad sitcom.

I can’t stress this enough. Get in parties, prioritize targets, call them, and take them out. Burn each person one by one until they all fall. Focus on downed enemies. And for the love of Great Lord Flame Ram, you have twelve stacks of confusion, STOP ATTACKING, CLEANSE IT, OR ASK AN ALLY TO. Especially if you see a necro/mesmer combo.

I actually was not bored for first time in 3 weeks since all these bad transfers came over. Some bad commander was complaining about people being in JP. We decided to bring him some treats from the JP. We followed commander to be sure he had plenty of flamerams to take objectives. Sadly we took no objectives and he just tried to run us into enemy zergs getting himself killed while failing to get any of us killed. Um, no, it had NOTHING to do with the thread. I would say being a part of a server that has a queue is much better than being a part of a dying one. This is what happens to winning/competent servers. So how is that justice? We had already picked up bandwagoners before this thread. People came to Maguuma because they heard excellent things about us and to ride our coattails during victory. We are continuing to do so because we’re crushing everything and the servers we’re facing are imploding with their own drama. Despite getting transfers and fair weather players, they can’t keep their own kitten together.

I said w3 pop, we have a huge pop and if we are winning on points than lots of w3 fair weathers join, they also join for new matchups. Like T1 when we were winning with 3 day to go before pumpkin head man came out. Like dropping to tier 3 for the first time in 3 months. (Were we won). I play NA and Aussie pt and we never have a Zerg for longer than 1 hour and can’t even fill two maps. So your wrong about us having huge numbers. One day in 30 days would also be busy, monthly reset day.

People don’t understand how frustrating it is to be on IoJ. We tried to make it a better place but no real good leaders rose to the top to give it a chance. We tried to recruit but we didn’t get any new guilds join. IoJ has an awesome community and people but have achieved what they have with only around 15-20 dedicated w3 guilds, most fielding 10-15 players a couple of nights a week. We achieved great things but unfortunately it’s going to die in w3. I predict tier 8.

Is WvW and W3 not the same thing? I’m talking just a couple weeks ago, you guys were not dead, you had large sized groups around the map.

That’s not true, when I was on FA a few weeks ago you guys have a very good turn out for WvW. I’m not sure what you consider large, but your coverage around the clock was better than Maguuma’s.
