Personally, I would go for a US server even if you are in EU. Dragonbrand is where I am, and it is SO much more friendly than EU servers.
You can also use this technique to change your upgrades, if your weapons and armour already have upgrades installed – clothing runes and weapon sigils.
Buy the cheapest usable weapon from the market place.
Buy the runes/sigils you want.
Put the runes/sigils on the cheap gear.
Transmute into your better equipment, choosing the correct upgrade on the 3rd option.
I’m now on Dragonbrand.
PM me if you want my chara names to add
I have one, it works for me no problem*
I use keystroke, the skill number and Apply as normal. I do have a specific GW2 profile though.
- apart from the G700 buttons being way too flimsy and breaking too easily.
Have you been into The Mists training zone?
I didn’t notice that till today…
For me, gaming is escapism and the ability to enact something which I cannot do in real life.
As someone who has no gender identity r/l, gaming is my method of playing a feminine role.
Hey, I’m honest!
LGBTQIA? Thats a new one on me
Reminds me of a conversation I once had with a friend (and the leader of an awesome goth band)…
He: “First I was heterosexual, then homosexual, then bisexual, then trisexual, then metrosexual, then retrosexual… and now I am get-you-sexual.”
Me: “What’s trisexual?”
He: “I’ll ‘tri’ anything, darling.”
Yeah, he set me up pretty good for that one
:D
@Bri: My apologies, I did indeed misinterpret your post.
I was not aware that there were worlds dedicated to languages other than English. Now that I have this information, I can choose my world more carefully.
@ Lexy: Thank you for that list. It really helps
@ Everyone else: Cheers, I may transfer to a US server but now that I know there are English dedicated ones, I’ll try some of those since I am currently on Kodash.
Actually… now it makes sense why the Kodash has [DE] after it in WvWvW… D’oh!
I figured all Europe worlds were all-Europe. I struggle to find anyone I can communicate with in game.
This isnt a ‘Speak English or Die’ kind of issue, its a “I would like to communicate and I am a dumb brit who barely speaks his own language” deal.
You are coming across as hostile. I don’t appreciate that.
Just wondering if anyone plays on a US server from Europe, and what effects it has on the game. Is FPS ridiculously high, or other performance ridiculously low?
I have always found Americans more friendly than most Europeans, and would prefer to play on a mainly English speaking server.
TIA of any replies.
As a ’sperg button-masher thief, I managed to complete Straits and Cursed Shore relatively easily.
Levelled to 80 first by exploring all the rest of the map. Signet of Shadows for +25 speed. Ambush and Thieves Guild.
If I see a gap between enemies to small to sneak through, I pick one off with shortbow so he approaches me and I can break down the obstacle more easily. If I run and get chased, Ambush to slow them down. I get hooked and dragged into battle, Thieves Guild and/or Hide In Shadows to get away. Quite handily, sometimes if I lay down TG, one of the thieves even pulls enemies away from me.
Same in even combat, TG and then turn to the side and lay down Ambush, not just to do damage but to take aggro away from me.
Admittedly though, having relied on this tactic for so long, I am bricking it at the though of doing those areas with my new warrior!
(edited by GuzziHero.2467)
I did this on a thief (medium armor) with 16,705hp and while one rock nearly one-shotted me, it was not quite. Most times I could raise the shield in plenty of time to block both incoming shots, and watch the target circle to dodge the rest of the time.
I beat this first attempt, and only died when I was on the shore. You either are not timing the shields right or not dodging wen target circles pop up.
A decent looking backpiece is something I would buy from the gem store if it was available.
I’m willing to spend good money on GW2, if only they’d put something in for me to buy!
Dang. I dont know if I can switch to a US server, or what my ping times would be to there. Sorry!
BTW you must be there mashing F5
By the time I skipped to Main you’d re-posted!
When you choose a server, let me know, I’ll switch over (presuming you are in Europe). I like grouping with people who actually bother to communicate!
I don’t know really how sexual bias really comes into an RPG but…
I am gender neutral in psychology, having no feeling of sexual identity. I am not masculine or feminine in demeanour and am physically non-sexual. I almost exclusively play female characters, as it is my way of enacting the feminine side of my nature which I cannot express in my real life.
While not strictly LGBT, I am all good with anyone of any gender preference.
Ah ha. Didnt see them. Cheers!
Did this event before taking Warmaster Chan to Anchorage to sieze it as a base for an assault on the gates of Arah.
What we got was a seemingly unending battle, and it said we had to destroy 2 cauldrons. When I was in there, I never saw any cauldrons or anything resembling them.
I am sure I am just being stupid and missing something obvious, I looked everywhere and couldn’t see the kitten things.
Help!
Thanks for that, I’ll give it a shot!
So all I can do is keep reservering so I can explore the areas I couldnt do from my original start positions?
I guess thats my only choice. Cheers!
Can you please explain how?
I know nothing about WvWvW.
Um… what difference will that make, may I ask?
One of the other issues is that each time I die I have no choice but to spawn at my original location since all the other waypoints are continuously contested.
(edited by GuzziHero.2467)
All I want is to ‘complete’ my character, basically by getting all the vistas, waypoints etc.
But I am forced into these stupid WvWvW maps where no matter how carefully I try to pick off enemy defenders, as soon as I engage one, 4 lvl 80 veterans come to completely wipe me out over and over again.
Any advice on what the hell I can do to even have a hope out there, is much appreciated, since I am considering quitting for good over this.
Getting one-shot by everything? Sorry, still shenanigans. Vid or it didn’t happen.
Doing it solo as lvl 14. Utterly impossible to cross Gendarran safely to get the last part of Act 1.
One guy reckons he did it with a lvl 8. I call shenanigans.
I tried it solo and if I had been more careful might have eventually done it. Finally got in with a group and it was really good fun.
A great event. The game once again made my jaw drop with its detail and beauty.
Many thanks!
Yes, I admit the issues are a buzzkill. Yes, it is possible that the overload could and should have been predicted.
Im just saying… chillax. It aint running away overnight.
The cutscene repeats periodically. It just repeated on me twice.
It is to be expected. How many copies of this game were sold? Now imagine one 50th of those trying to log into an instance at once.
Please be patient all.
Imagine the load on those servers!!!
Be patient!!11!!eleventyeleven!
The cutscene was at the Grand Piazza. A very nice cutscene it is too.
Ditto. Probably so many people trying to load in at once.
Be patient.
Try playing it as a ’sperg.
I’m not even gonna attempt, tbh. Eye-hand coordination is caca.
I got my new alt up to lvl 12 just in case… give her something of a fighting chance if a battle is to occur!
I want to get her the Mad Memoires too, but I think lvl 35 areas may be a little bit much. When does that event end?
GW2 team has still not unlocked reserved names and now were missing out even more...
Posted by: GuzziHero.2467
I’m sorry to inform the OP that “Hugh Mandangle” isn’t reserved.
I have it already
Ignore this. Though one piece was missing from my inventory, I still completed the task.
(edited by GuzziHero.2467)
I did a mix. Soon as the story took me to an area I hadn’t been to before, I explored out that area.
Well, the scenery could do with a bit more vitality. I can go for hours in Cursed Shore and not see another player.
Maybe I’m not looking at it right since I am a solo player.
Thank you to those who have helped explain what I am talking about! I am not very good at expressing what I mean. Reclusiarh explains it well.
I get it now, I think, with the various afflicted each being caused by a different dragon. I never played GW1 so I might have missed a lot of clues etc there.
So what we might have in future expansions is 2-3 zones full of corrupted/icebrood/branded instead? I… um… look forward to that. I think!
I dont think it helps that apart from a few specific areas, the Straits/Malchors/Shore aren’t that interesting to look at.
@ Eurosdown: I have now completed all the PVE maps. Seperatists etc were interspersed with drakes, skelks, etc… there was some variety! Orr is 90% Risen, 8% Orrian Spectral and 2% Elementals. And since when was tar an element?
[/pedant]
@ Safari: If you have seen the immigration rate of the UK (we are, I believe, the only European nation who’s population is rising…), we are working on that variety…
sigh
Never mind, I’ll just get on with it so I can get back to something interesting. TBH I don’t know what else would fit there. But then I am not paid to think of that, eh?
I was kind of under the impression that most if not all of the early opposition races (Nightmare Court, Flame Legion, Inquest, Sons Of Whatever his name is) were linked to the dragons.
Even a few Flame Legion or corrupted (not Risen!) harpies or something would make for some variety.
Heck, I’d even settle for some dragon-halfs or something. The last few days worth of gameplay have just been “See Risen… Kite so he comes towards and you don’t activate a bunch of them.. kill.. rinse and repeat”.
Love the game, but it’s getting tedious!
Precisely. If you want to make a game not fun to play, it doesn’t matter how good it is otherwise, make it repetitive. And this… is repetitive!
All I have been able to kill since moving west of Straits Of Devastation is Risen and Orrians! Can’t even get my daily tasks up unless I go way out of my way to another map to get the kill variety.
It’s like someone has a serious zombie fetish or something. Either that or the area designers just ran out of creatures to place… “Oh hey, zombies! Everyone loves zombie genre stuff these days!! CRAM IT FULL!!!”.
Yeesh, is a little variety too much to ask for?
(Note: this is not a serious rant, it’s just getting a little dull…).
Jimmy Savile was only a knight, not a king…
Oh, if you don’t like the look of the bookpack, you can select it to be not visible and retain the small bonuses it gives. I personally think it looks daft just floating there…
The benefit of it, or the back brace it replaces, is that sometimes you can take an armor damage on down and the brace/pack take it instead of something useful.
Has anyone tried applying an upgrade to the Mad Memoires yet?
I apologise for being so curt with my initial response. I had just logged off from about a half hour of just standing in the trap hall at the last objective rezzing random people who fell prey to the spike traps, then going to LA and finding the reward was some random floating bookpack!
Please do not get me wrong, I do appreciate all the work anet has put into this event. The brawl is great fun, and I look forward to doing the other activities when I get time.
No.
Easy as. All you get is a dumb big book that floats on the back of your armor and grants near to no bonuses.
No money, no karma, no exp. Just a big dumb book.
I’m usually the party pooper at times like this but, this is great fun so far
Looking forward to the rest!
I’d group, I do sometimes, but don’t see the point unless I was on TS/Skype with them.
I can’t go on TS/Skype with them because I am 100% bad in social interaction. So there is little point.
This is why I’m a bus driver, not a sales rep
