Reminds me of…
See for me it is the other way round… I don’t see why every outfit my mesmer can get HAVE to have a skirt.
Town clothes, yes I can understand, but apart from Profane, I cannot get away from skirts!
Well, one of my humans wears Profane… but at least I can get other clothes!
I have just seen the video about Wintersday and was shocked and horrified to see citizens without suitable cold-weather clothing, and in particular children on snow with no shoes on! No wonder they were jumping about, they must be blooming freezing!
I urge our benefactors (Anet) to give donations towards the poor and clothes-less of Lions Arch!
Cheers! Seems to be going ok so far.
Necro, unfortunately, is the one class in this game I pretty much hate
I have some good concepts of player professions I would like to play, if there was any way of customising one ourselves. Ah well, I can dream…
Well, now we have pretty much eliminated autism/Asperger’s… which is a good thing.
I could try and interject my experience and thoughts on modern humanity but since I don’t connect with most of it, my opinion is probably utter BS.
As I am a fully qualified Aspergers fruitloop, I do share your concerns about socialising etc. I dont go out very often and when I do, it is to pursue solo hobbies (I ride motorbikes as my name suggests!). I have always found people uninteresting, I have a beta personality, and generally I have a disregard for social scenes and groups. Truth be told, I have very little consideration for humanity in general. I wont apologise for this, I cannot help how I am…
… however, a few years back I started playing airsoft. Over time, I built up a group of friends who I wouldnt give away for the world. Yes, it requires us being in a situation where I have a hobby which I can talk about, thereby avoiding my utter hopelessness in conversation, but these guys have really stuck by me regardless of the stupid stuff I do sometimes. Even though several have given up airsoft, they have done a lot to keep in contact and not allow me to isolate myself.
So generally I have to agree with the above… find an interest. Join or if need be, start a club. And very importantly – do not get jealous if your friends have other friends as well. I have thrown away too many friends because I felt they were somehow going behind my back by having a wider social scene than I did.
It may be worth you taking these tests:
Autism Quotient test: http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/9.12/aqtest.html
Aspergers quiz: http://rdos.net/eng/Aspie-quiz.php
Caution: Do NOT take these as a diagnosis on their own merit. They are only guides. Mainly, I post them because it may help you analyze and assess yourself to maybe pick up on character traits which you have not noticed before. For me, they were the first step to a medical diagnosis.

My brain hurts
I am too thick for combos.
I nuked it and made a Mesmer. I really do appreciate all the advice, but for a casual player like myself, I think the challenge is a little too much for my skritt brain.
I need to go lie down to recover
I have been playing fire today and I like the combo of 3 to enemy, 4, VV away to fiery greatsword, and had some success with that. I still feel that my real level is something like 4-6 below what it claims to be.
Given that I am too thick to remember set combos, I think I will just nuke it from orbit and start a mesmer before I really lose my goat
Cheers for the advice!
Okay, I am lvl 17, using d/d or occasionally I try Sc/d. My equipment is all lvl 17, equipped for Precision, with a mix of pebbles for toughness, vit and power.
I generally fight in earth mode using Churning Earth, Earthquake, Ring of Earth, then Impale to keep the bleeds up. I use Fiery Greatsword and Arcane Blast as well.
My traits are currently 5 for toughness and 2 for vitality.
I tried to fight the veteran ember near the destroyed plant and I just had absolutely no chance of doing any damage to it. There, I swapped FG for lesser elemental of earth.
I was reticent at making a scholar character in the first place and it appears I may well not have bothered. I am not enjoying playing it.
Well, Im trying this elementalist but it is so utterly frustrating. I am at lvl 17 and cannot complete lvl 11 story missions, feel like I cannot deal damage nor take damage. I am using the best armour and weapons available at my level and cannot beat skill points 2-3 levels below mine. The character seems helpless and weaksauce in whatever situation I put it into.
I guess it is a ‘me’ problem, since others do well enough. Can anyone give me any advice before I give this character up altogether?
Just logged in, and mine was waiting for me.
Many thanks, Anet! You kept your word.
Respect y’all.
There is one with pirates in Bloodtide Coast that does the same. Throwing bottles at them works though.
I tried several EU servers, they all had dead chat. US servers are much better. Even if you are euro-based, try one!
… this just makes me want to scrap this mesmer and go ele after all…
Goldang it, its a done deal. Its the only cloth class I really like the concept of after all!
Thank you all for the advice! I went mesmer.
Not sure how I like how it plays at the moment (I am more a hack, slash, burn kinda person!), but I’ll give it a try.
I am about to bite the bullet and make a cloth class chara. I am nervous about it since I like my high HP bullet-suckers.
My other problem is, I tend to have coordination issues, so I hate AOE skills. I can’t aim or steer them all that effectively.
So which cloth class profession has most direct attack/none AOE abilities?
TIA for any replies.
If you are in America… in fact, no matter where you are… Dragonbrand is the server you want to be on. You don’t need to know anything else
We freakin’ rock, man.
I like to imagine that the planet itself ‘bleeds’ a form of mystical energy and that species have to be ‘attuned’ to it to tap into it fully. Your character starts as completely unattuned and, for some reason, has the ability to tune in at a faster rate than non characters. This means that you gain attunement/power at a rapid rate where they peak more quickly and at a lower state of tune.
You return to a lower level and the energy bleed from the ground is lower, so you lose energy potential.
May not be lore but hey, thats how I quantify it.
When I heard the term Chronomancer, I actually got really excited. A pen and paper RPG I played a while back included a time-shaping character and the things he got up to were extremely interesting. The guy who played him was bloody ingenious.
Simple things included an enemy which tried to attack us, drew his sword, and the moment he made his first strike, this guy time shaped the sword back to the time where it was still in its sheath…
Investigating a ruined temple, the player used his skill to temporarily restore it to the time when it was intact so that we could collect vital evidence as to what happened there.
I’d dearly love to see a playable class with something like the same abilities. For example, having an enemy that aggro’d, and being able to restore it to un aggro’d state while your party passed could be a useful support skill.

Or maybe the Charr just aren’t aware of what Mad-whatever-his-name-is is doing with cattle. Kinda reminds me of Pig-Killer from Max Max Beyond The Thunderdome.
I wonder if Charr could/would eat Harpy flesh? There seems to be no shortage of them. Their ‘matriarch’ must be a very busy lady…
I just want my own dragonheart dragon
I would also love to see some corrupted ‘dragonlings’, that is, corrupted against the elder dragons. I would pay good money to unlock something similar to these as a playable race!
As a keen pen n paper-er, I would love to see an official GW2 RPG, maybe with a function to print your stats from the PC version on a character sheet <3
Getting my last POI there was a thrilling and fun experience, believe it or not.
Choose a time when your server is dominating or switch server to whichever of your rivals IS dominating.
Either that, or use prayers and try to sneak through. The enemy that got you this time may not be there next time.
And take your armour off. You are pizza anyway, save on repair costs and take that stuff off.
Let’s be honest, the norn are jovial, energetic drunks. They probably reproduce on a mootly basis, to put it lightly. Norn sex probably makes the scene from 300 look like a disney movie.
Yes, they drink a lot. But, in 2 words – Brewer’s Droop.
However, I guess during those cold winters they have plenty of incentive to snuggle to keep warm! I remember the Clarkson programme when he is in Iceland and he asks what they do when it is too cold to go outside…
I am shocked and stunned to hear that Asura have shortish lifespans. I would think with all the ‘genius’ they possess, and their disdain of the very concept of learning from another, that they would need exceptional lifespans to build up their knowledge. Or maybe that is the paradox, they try to cram too much into their heads in too short a timespan and all their wacky failed experiments are the result?
I would be interested to know more about Asuran mating/breeding cycles as they do not seem predisposed to love for the most part. Test tube babies?
…In The Year 6565…
Final note – I would love to see the Skritt become a playable species at some stage but rather than being one character, you would control a small pack (maybe 4).
I believe Charr would have lost a lot of prime agricultural land to the Brand as well, further diminishing their numbers and thinning those who are left. Their remaining supply lines through Diessa and Plains of Ashford would also be beset by Flame Legion attacks. Whereas, as you say, DR has a huge area of fertile land around them.
I contrast to Humanity’s population swelling programs, I would not be surprised if the Charr are implementing population control. Indeed, the clincher for the pact may indeed be logistical, since with them only having an Asura gate to LA, this would likely be their key to trade and transportation of goods. No matter how friendly they may be with the humans right now, there is no Asura gate directly between Black Citadel and human held lands.
As for the Asura, they may be somewhat dependant on the Sylvari for their agriculture at this point. Previously, they would probably have simply dominated Caledon Forest but the Sylvari now stand in opposition. Still, we are not really sure what their dietary requirements are. Maybe they eat Golems, who knows?!
That leaves the Norn. I do not know much about nutrition, but I can hardly believe that their diet is completely carnivorous. Yet they come from an icy area, and apparently came from somewhere even colder. I would think that Norn would breed at a relatively low rate (as is usual with larger creatures anyway) but be particularly long-lived. Maybe 3 or more times longer than humans.
Do we even know what lies above the Hirathi Hinterlands, btw? I am not a GW1 veteran so I don’t know a lot about that era.
I was just reading a thread about the declining or at least damaged human population and started wondering… if the populations of each species are roughly equal now as they appear to be (apart from the Sylvari who are much lower in number and humans who are larger, if you count Seperatists), which species would be more populous in, say, 50 years?
I would assume that to rebuild the population of humanity, there would be some sort of breeding program. Similar to Caucescu’s Romania, women who had more children may be assigned a ‘hero mother’ status to encourage them to have more offspring. Asura on the other hand seem romantically nervous and reluctant and may only have a few children but with extremely long life expectancies.
So from this I derive the question: What are the breeding rates per female of other species? Do we know the gestation periods and rough lifespans?
The query may not even have to stop at the controllable races. Will Skritt one day outpopulate all other species due to their birth rates?
Any ideas, let’s hear them!
You can be members of more than guild at once, however, so your members could join another guild and vice versa.
1)graphics (1-bad…10-amazing) – 8—-The new area has some interesting areas to look at especially Driftglass and the shipwrecks. Much of the rest is a little dull.
2)sound(1-bad…10-amazing) – 8—-Excellent, like most of the game. Karkas seem a little uninspirational.
3)story concept/originality (1-boring…10-captivating) – 6—-Seems a little random.
4)loot/reward (1-lost all my money…10-gained amazing items) – 0—-DC’d on last battle.
5)stability (1-extremly buggy…10-no bugs) – 1—-DC’d. Entire battle was a grind with attacks happening 20s to 1m after I selected attack.
6)network connection/speed (1-laggy,disconnections, 10 – perfect connection) – 0—-DC’d MS was probably in single figures with a half-decent rig
7)mini events length (1-to long/short…10-just right) – 8/2—-Would have been 8 if it had all worked right, 2 as it was.
8)overall event length (1-to long/short…10-just right) – 8/2as above.
9)overall Satisfaction (1-worst experience ever,10-best experience ever) – 3—-Worst even I have seen in GW2. However, this is by GW2’s usually very high standards.
(edited by GuzziHero.2467)
The only way I can see Anet doing such a large event again is by having different start times for different Worlds which each server hosts, to spread the load on the servers.
Of course, these times may not suit everyone, so each event would have to be repeated, probably, with a log on the character file that those who had already participated did not get reward other than the kill bonuses.
|Playtested yes. Load tested… probably. Load tested enough? No.
I just want to throw a question into this thread. How many mini pets can I deploy at one time?
Cheers for that! Appreciated!
Several times now, I have been downed and this Revenge (I think it is) skill comes in. Basically, I can fight for another 15 seconds or so, then I die no matter what.
Problem is, sometimes I am downed and fell my enemy before I die. In this case, I will rally normally, right? But no, Revenge comes in and no matter what else I do (kill all other enemies, heal, cure condition), I am a dead man walking.
Is there any way to turn off this thing so it doesnt activate?
Crafting + a HUMONGOUS amount of in game money, from what I have heard!
And when you do the LVL 28, the next will be 33 or so.
You need to explore maps, perform reknown heart tasks, complete daily achievements.
Rome was not built in a day, my friend!
Thats ideal, thanks!
Ok, thats dungeons sorted… and event chains?
I keep seeing things like LF1M CoE Exp shouted in LA. I sort of understand the LF1 and Exp bit, but I wondered if there was a list of even chain/dungeon codes for us noobs to browse through?
Using a G600 mouse… people even USE the keyboard these days?
How quaint.
Ignore. Answered my own Q, PvP has its own gear!
If you are soloing, Thief is easymode for the later maps. So many ways to distract pursuers (ambush, thieves guild, caltrops, blinding shot, hide in shadows).
Hah, this reminds me of me trying to get my last vista. Never thought about removing armour though to delay the inevitable, then costing me a load to repair.
Basically it went like this:
- Sneak near to enemy camp, get spotted by zerg, die in seconds.
- Sneak closer, take down 2 enemy NPCs with some difficulty, get closer to point, meet zerg, die.
- Sneak in, and… noone. No enemies other than 2 red residents. Ironically, there was a red Charr on the roof where I needed to be… but as it moved to engage, it fell off and I got the vista!
So do not assume that because you met opp in a location one time, it will be there next time round. Occasionally you will take them by surprise and get a clear run.
Could I buy lvl 80 gear for my lvl 33 warrior, go into PvP/WvWvW and equip it? I expect it would be removed the moment I left but it was just a thought I had to help me be more effective in PvP.
TIA
I did my first dungeon raid with a guild yesterday (which I have now joined!) and I loved it, though since others in the party knew what was coming, it did kill the spirit of wonder a little.
It’s a bit like watching Elevator: Source, then playing it, so I understand what you mean for sure.
You get boosted to LVL80 for PVP and I think get access to all 70 trait points and skills.
If you didn’t, you’d get turned into mushy goo almost the moment you went into WvWvW.
Just a quick shout out of respect to players who do their best to help noobs and compleat idiots like myself. Seen several of these about, but never as many as I have seen on Dragonbrand.
I’ve seen people almost stymie their own games to reply to others with helpful advice, constant shout outs of where chest events begin, and general friendliness of a type I have never seen on any other game. Folks coming from half a map away to heal others.
Special respect to the guys (one was Grit, cant remember the other) in WvWvW yesterday who were giving me encouragement to get the last couple of points I needed for world completion, even complimenting me when I played a very minor role in a point defence.
So, this thread then is for shout outs to those people who deserve respect and thanks, feel free to add your own!
I tried that, it wouldn’t let me, in some cases. Odd.
