I felt like my human warrior had been kidnapped by the Charr and held to ransom :p 1s+ to get out of the kitten room!
10 chests, 10 keys, got a Fused token in chest 9.
Wish they had sound effects to match the cool fire effect though.
Have you been to Hoelbrak to speak to Knut Whitebear?
I enjoyed it. The F&F had a slow build up, but while Part 3 was short, it was pretty kitten sweet, I thought.
I’m happy so far.
I have Warrior, Thief and Ranger all kitted in Knight’s armour, and with weapons that have pow/pre/tou stats.
Believe it or not, while the Warrior does by far the most damage and has the highest crit, the Thief is the one that seems to survive the longest in any situation. Ranger and Warrior seem to be about equal, except the Ranger uses SB LB all the time so probably gets less aggro.
I find that all the scholar professions are very hard to use for PvE in general. Never have managed to finish one before I got frustrated at their weak damage outputs and squishiness.
Log out, save yourself the WP cost.
And yes, me and my friends struggled too.
Plus, if someone has done the instance already, the cutscenes will not start unless that person leaves the instance.
3×80s already, I play this game now for the social factor. Sometimes the waiting can be fun :p
If I wasn’t levelling a character and could use the boosters, I wouldn’t have bought any keys.
As it is, I bought 10 for 10 chests on my lvl 21 and… got a Fused token.
Irritating as well for those who are not lvl 80 since they don’t know how much time they have to get levelled and kitted for it.
Is it based on my personal level/power, or some amazing tetrahedral quadromatical octotrigram dharmaquation?
I love the toolbelt gear to the degree that I rarely use my pistols/rifle… I would like to know how to maximise their effectiveness.
TYVMIA
Ahh its the victory token, I was getting confuuzed.
TY for the correction.
We’ve done them 3 times with 9-10 players and succeeded each time. Don’t see the problem.
They’re a challenge, but you get the best reward for the first arrest, so even if you fail the second, your time is worthwhile.
I went to an ‘English Language’ server, Desolation, and then tried 2 others. Still major language barriers.
Went to Dragonbrand, would never go back to an EU server.
You can find a better way to gain 50s with less than a half hours work? Tell me how.
My advice is to delete and re-roll on a US server.
I’m in the UK and found communication almost impossible on EU servers where few people speak English.
Go US, you’ll thank yourself for it.
No. There is no chest as such, but you get a personal letter of commendation with which you can choose a single Rare reward.
I don’t mind most of the voice acting. But the Sylvari at Ogham Wilds puts the wrong tone in to his sentences at exactly the wrong times.
Arias: Once turned, the Mossheart would never have broken free from the vile hatred of the nightmare. We had no other option but to destroy it."
His tone makes the death sound completely trivial, as it rises at the end of the second sentence. I cannot believe a professional VA would choose to speak that line in such a way, and I’m disappointed if he was told to do so and refused. It sounds completely wrong.
Likewise, also in Caledon Forest, there is an event where you have to protect a Sylvari and his Drake Broodmother pet while he destroys some Risen. If you fail, he is so cut up about his loss that he cannot bear to destroy his own Risen pet, then completely incorrectly voices the next part where he retrieves an egg from the corpse to try and raise another Drake…
…then what comes next is ludicrous. The egg transmorphs into a new Drake and, less than 1 minute from the death of his beloved former pet, he is excited, almost giddily so, as his new pet emerges. The dialogue is.. ok, but the VA is just absolutely dire.
I was thinking about this the other day.
Who benefits most from BLCs? New players/characters.
Who has the least gold to buy them with? New players/characters.
I think that for each level up to 15, each character should receive a BLC key for free.
I don’t know how to fix this but…
I find it quite immersion breaking to have a major battle in Lions Arch, come out of the instance and find that LA is doing very nicely for itself, tyvm. Seconds after fighting undead nasties in the centre of the town, I can go and buy some lovely snacks from the vendors in front of the trading hall.
There is a large list of the voice actors:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1716744/fullcredits?ref_=tt_cl_sm#cast
But no mention of Sayeh.
I agree Mutiny. The Largos are one of my favorite races in dimension as their culture sounds just amazing, and the people they chose to put in the game are awesome.
You’d have loved these guys then… a Muslim sect which used assassination as a tool:

One of several reasons I don’t want a legendary.
Not sure which it is, but one sounds like someone punching a chicken.
Found it hilarious once to end up in overflow at the start of the Claw timer, with quite a crowd stuck there as well. I had a guildmate in main but couldn’t join her.
I was about to leave when he spawned, 5 mins into the window. We finished 25 mins or so before the one in main started.
How we laughed :p
I’d love a PvP version of this in Lions Arch.
Each player lays down an equal coinage (say 5s) and competes for the cash pot. Maybe have 2-6 players
Only if it has the voice of Elli’s hologram
Even a half baked team can get through it with no issue. The worst of the fights is the first against the attunement guy, and only then if your team don’t realise how the attunements work.
Which annoys me. I’d LOVE to be able to skin some of my armour with this look.
The maps on the wiki are invaluable. I just got 3 I needed thanks to them. I had the map open, and alt-tabbed in and out to make sure I had all the white letter named areas, and got all mine within 30 mins.
Not really a lot on which to base a reputation as a military commander, though.
And what military force chooses a marshal based on “Well you’re the odd one out”, spoken by a rookie who has never commanded any number of soldiers before (unless the Charr storyline includes such a rank).
I sense a distinct lack of “For Great Justice!”. This is a crime.
Also, you missed one. He’s about to give someone a .303 birthday present delivered directly to the skull…
Ah, great advice.
I’ll probably up my card then. Any reasonable (sub £500) ones you’d recommend?
I think they should stop with the commander stuff. My characters never went to military school, never learned strategy.
I’d rather the story be portraying my fighter as a skilled fighter, perhaps within the top 5% of the allied army, but not an overall commander. What credentials do I have to inspire others to follow me? Next to none.
I’d rather Trahearne’s story (aka everything from the Orders up to but not including Victory Or Death) be one of many combining factors into the defeat of Zhaitan, with him being a skilled intelligence agent and my character being one of his officers/guards.
Yes, I know that games are supposed too make you feel like The One but when you can have multiple characters… there cannot be 5 The Ones, or however many overall player characters that have now finished the story. This is supposed to be an EPIC battle, a war perhaps, with tens of thousands of participants. And yet each of my characters has played a pivotal role in the death of Zhaitan, less than a month after stepping out of The Grove/Divinity’s Reach.
It feels like the Ragnarok Dimension on DC comic’s lore, where members of the JSA enter limbo to fight Ragnarok continuously so that Odin can learn how best to defeat it. Each character I make feels like a JSA hero, defeating the undefeatable over and over again ad neuseum.
There should also be more varying paths to the end goal, wherever the story leads us to next. Yeah you can choose which sub plot to follow in the 60+ missions, but they all lead to the same conclusion, even merging on a frequent basis. Whatever the next task is, whichever dragon we fight, needs to have many different approaches and lines of attack to prevent the story becoming the same drudgery towards the end.
The update was maintenance only, no content was modified.
When I tried it with a friend we ace’d it easily. But I tried it with a lvl72 mesmer using lvl72 gear and couldn’t even kill an add. Or should that be adder, with them being snakes?
I was already thinking of calling time on the elementalist character for being weaksauce, this mission sealed the deal.
Use skills that remove conditions, try and let Logan take the hits as much as you can, pour on the damage.
Same here. You actually have time to map waypoint away to avoid the death.
I just got a “New build, your game will restart in 3 mins” thing, so I logged out, and back in.
Downloading stalled on the last file, so I closed and restarted.
Now I cannot get past the area loading screen, just getting the eternal ring of loading. Am I the only one?
Edit: closed game, logged in with another character, its working now.

Most excellent, thanks!
So I’d like a bigger monitor but don’t see much point unless I can run a 120Hz. The problem is, there are so many connector types and such that I am not sure whether or not I can.
My graphics card is a GeForce GTX460SE which has what I thought were HDMI connectors. According to this review: http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/geforce_gtx_460_se_review,2.html they are ‘dual-link DVI’.
So, basically, can I run a 120Hz 32" screen at reasonable quality with this GFX?
Thanks for any help!
For once, I agree. This is a mission I couldn’t complete and I have solo’d all the others I have played.
Plus, when you die and checkpoint, you immediately find yourself facing 2-3 respawned Krait before you even return to the battle.
Your dream has come true:
“A new life awaits you in Southsun Cove. The chance to begin again in a golden land of opportunity and adventure. New climate, recreational facilities…absolutely free.”
It actually says that? Wow, Bladerunner reference or what!
Gates of Arah, I’d say. Honeymoon by slaying Zhaitan again!
I have an idea: every person from the server who waypoints in and hits overflow, the cost of their travel gets deducted from each and every guest and given to the overflowee.
So if the cost is 1s, and there are 30 guests, the server native gets 30s – his 1s travel = 29s!
:D
Copypasta from my post elsewhere:
I had the idea of a 9th Class, but calling it Man-At-Arms. Men At Arms were generally professional soldiers, as opposed to the commoner jack wearers.
The concept would be mainly support, summoning weapons for others in the team to use, quick rallying and healing for self and others (as if he was inspiring his troops) and summoning minions for attack and defence.
After all, rangers have pets and thieves have Theifs Guild/Ambush, necros have minions and summonings… this would give Heavy a summoning/distraction class to match.
Your class related skill would be ‘Battle Orders’. F1 for Assault (more power, less vitality), F2 for Defence (less power, more vitality), F3 for Arquebusiers (ranged attack, weakish defence) and F4 for Field Medics (guess what…). These would control what your summoned troops would be best at.
Say you are on F3 Battle Order and you use, probably, an elite skill. The skill would drop 3 rifles for your team mates to use, to allow them ranged skills where they might not have them. If on F2, they would get a temporary vit boost… etc. See where I’m going?
Far as I am concerned, if a player from the particular world which the dragon event is on joins the area, a guest should be removed. First in, first out.
For someone to be a ‘guest’, there is usually an ‘invitation’. Noone invited these people onto the other servers.
You need to use a little tactical nous. Target the Veterans from range, or stay highly mobile, but either way ensure that ALL your damage goes to them.
:o I just whistled through it on an lvl 60 elementalist. I got downed once, but got out of combat and healed.
Yeah, focus on the veterans in the courtyard, ignore everything else.
Were the improvements in the patch today?
Because nothing improved.
Thief higher DPS than Warrior? BWAH HA HA HAAAAAA.
My warrior and ranger make my thief look like she is using a BB gun.
Yeah exactly, and if you know what you’re doing, it’s not all that difficult to take on large groups of mobs.
If everyone needs to have absolutely everything handed to them, there’s no game anymore.
100%. I think a lot of people in this game are of the mindset that everything should be achievable easily, as long as it gives them a sense of challenge in order to maintain their ego. Like fighting a wolf bare handed, but as soon as it looks like the wolf might win, someone shoots it with a blunderbuss.
I had an SP that annoyed me the other day, the lvl 40 Harpy in Fields of Ruin. First time it waxed me. Second time I got its adds, it killed me. 3rd time it got stuck up a tree then killed me. 4th time I got it with the last bit of my health left.
Apart from a little swearing when it got stuck (and my mic was on open channel with guildmates listening… oops!), I beat it through determination and changing my tactics to suit the opponent. I felt like I had accomplished something, and isn’t that the point?
Let’s see.. I have 3 lvl80 and 1 lvl50 on Dragonbrand. 100% PvE.
1.) I’m in the UK and chose a US server because of communication issues on EU servers. I found a guild I love and I’m staying here.
2.) More than they have got. WvWvW is for tryhards, I’m not that great a player. It is a meaningless drudge fest with no real end product. Battles are almost always a case of more numbers, more win. Plus the vocal minority who seem to consider WvWvW some sort of duty.
3.) If it means suffering the above, I don’t care. I don’t ask WvWvW players to do it. I didn’t even know it affected PvE at all until you mentioned it.
4.) I choose not to craft or to farm. Yes, the repair bill is an issue. But not as much an issue as the sheer pointlessness of it all.
You won’t see me in WvWvW at all unless I am getting the Vistas/POIs/SPs, or on a run through to LA.
