As I do with Thieves Guild and Ambush, to try and direct fire elsewhere while I get the job done and/or heal folks. Offence can be the best part of defence.

My elementalist rocks, there are many ways to protect yourself even with low armor rating.

I just don’t know enough about the character traits, I guess. I’ll go take a look later.

My problem is, I can’t TS/Skype and play at the same time. Anti-social disorders prevent that. So I guess doing dungeon raids is out for me :’(

I character equipped mostly/totally for positive conditions/healing… how hard would that be to play solo? I can’t imagine how you’d make it through.

If only because it has dragged me away from the deadly time-sink that is APB:Reloaded. Some people have been complaining about bugs, you need to SEE that game to believe how bad the hit reg and optimisation are. Words do not do it justice.

Being a ‘sperg, I can only really concentrate on one game at the time (gotta get ALL my characters to the highest level or I cannot transfer my concentration to another task) and I don’t think I could get bored of this game easily. There is always something I haven’t seen, an event I haven’t done or got beat at last time etc.

Once I have rushed my first character through the entire map/personal story, I shall start another character and take my time.

The skins I have for all my weapons are ones I have bought off the TP then transmuted to be more powerful. Most of them, imo, look far superior to pickups.

I always spec for Vitality, Power, Healing, Crits, Toughness in that order.

Partly because I am a noob and I don’t play the numbers game insomuch as speccing for condition stacking or other speciality traits, but mostly because I solo all the time and I need to have a high survivability with that in mind.

I consider that destroying the enemy is paramount, then I can work on healing others otherwise you have 2 bodies instead of one. Real world army theory is that it is better to injure than kill an opponent since it takes more resources to take care of an injured enemy than a dead one.

So if you consider that the only means of ‘support’ you can give to others is healing (since in my mind that is the only support one can give) then yes. Solo players HAVE to be selfish since we are almost always without our own support. If you widen the meaning to be ‘getting enemies away from an injured/dead player so you can heal him’, then there is nothing really selfish about that.

You need the objective done, other players are worth many times a fallen NPC, so it only makes sense to heal them first.

Ah ha. For some reason I never got, or didnt see, the skill selection arrow. I feel really dumb now, because I am sure I have looked for one and never seen it…

How do you set up utility skills for underwater? I am lvl 80 now and have nothing right of healing skill…

Oh yes, I agree on the beautiful scenery underwater. It is the part of Tyria that leaves me the most slack jawed in amazement. I just dread going into water most times because I feel like chum!

I am a thief and my usual tactic on land against superior foes is to grind them down with Thief’s Guild and Trap, healing when I need to since the stealth lets me back off to recover. In the water, I also use Hide In Shadows to hit-and-run, but the cooldown often is too slow to save my squishy little life when there are many hostiles.

On the other hand, I love the levelling here so I can quite quickly (about 3 1/2 weeks of casual play) get to a stage where I feel I can be an asset during events and not a liability.

Try playing APB Reloaded where, as a casual, I’ve been levelling a character for 5 months and still have about a month to go

I am a simple hack em and slash em sort of player I admit, but I do fine on land. Taken down those 3 Pyrite Giants in Malchor’s Leap solo, so I am not a compleat idiot player but…

As soon as I get into the water I may as well be a neon tetra. Totally visible to all enemies (I try picking them off one by one but to no avail) and absolutely helpless.

My character is speced for power/vitality with some healing thrown in, but it is at the stage where I just don’t bother with water based dynamics at all since I can do absolutely nothing. I have my lvl 74 speargun, and lvl 80 armour but may as well be wearing town clothes.

Anyone else feel like this? Alternatively, please give me some advice on what I can do to be more effective!

I have a 12 slot locked case but… I bought a better armour piece which I couldn’t transmute since it was lvl80 (no fine stones), and immediately sold all my loot to a vendor. It wasn’t till later I realised my Krytan jacket was gone

Still, I received a very polite response which said that although there are simply no systems in place right now to restore such items, it is being discussed. It isn’t that they dont want to help, there just isnt the ability at the moment.

I left the vendor before I realised my error, so I guess its gone. The box is empty.

I found the tab but… its empty.

Do I need to find the very vendor I sold to?

Any way to get it back? Worth sending in a support ticket?

Well, I’ve only been playing 3 weeks and I must have nearly 30 in the bank that I never got keys for.

See my trouble is this:

I do not mind spending irl cash on game shops. I spent over £600 on APB:Reloaded. But I am currently working my first character.

The boosts in the chests would be nice to help me reach max and buy all the spunky lvl80 gear but then I see 25 locked chests and it would cost 2,250 gems to buy keys for them all. I’d have to buy the 2800gem/$29.50 deal.

But… my chara is lvl76! What use will I have for XP, karma or gold boosts when my chara is already maxed and has all the gear I want? So I will end up just using up the boosts to get rid of them, along with those mystery tonics.

Probably the only way to solve this (in my case at least) is if there was a preview mode for the TP. If I see 3 items with identical/near identical stats… one is 80b, one is 1s 40b and the other is 4g, which one looks the most attractive? I could buy the 4g one and hate it, or the 80b one and transmute it into a design I know and like. Buying the expensive one is a gamble which I cannot afford to take. Now if I could see what I was buying first, I may have incentive to buy the expensive one, in which case I would appreciate the boosts, if you get my meaning.

Ok, just been in this mission where I am supposed to disable toxin containers before they dump goo into the Whitland Flats.

To start with, each of the containers gave me 3 options, seemingly totally random. Choose wrong, I get an electric shock, but I couldn’t see any way to tell which of the 3 options was correct before I chose one.

Then, they all went to a state where I couldn’t even get the choices menu up at all.

Can anyone tell me what I am supposed to do in this task?

Thank goodness for that! With almost every build thread advocating anything but S/P, I thought I was the odd one out. Almost everything which I find functional rarely seems to appear on the builds of players undoubtedly better than I.

…I started getting nausea and dizziness at the character/screen jerking all over the shop while using Death Blossom. I used to get it in a PS2 game called Primal too, because of the motion blur effects.

Does anyone else get this with D/D? I prefer S/P, that seems to give me a good crowd control ability with the sword plus the headshot.

I’m just worried that I seem to do OK with a laodout noone else seems to use, so it’s probably something that I am doing wrong!

My thief’s weakness is the useless wazzock sitting at the keyboard controlling her.

Might be a bug then, I’ve had it several times where I have been static and my combo has broken.

Not fun when facing a veteran alone, you just stand there headshotting and screaming “Do Some Damage You <rude word>!!!”

With a sword/pistol combination and using attack 3, I fire a stun shot… but I don’t always go into the sword attack that is part of the combo. Sometimes it just fires and I wait for the sword combo to come and… nothing. Is this something that I am doing wrong? It doesn’t seem to have anything to do with initiative since sometimes I can fire 3 shots and no sword combo. Did it last night and 4 times in a row, it failed to combo, just kept wasting headshots.

All I can think is that the enemy evades the stun, so breaks the combo?

Asura are cute? They are my next most disliked race after Charr.

Charr act like every other game’s Orks. Colour em green and you wouldn’t tell the difference.

Asura are just too cartoonish for my liking. Like those kitten Axlotl-ish Quaggan.

I was panicking that I’d buy it, and once I’d used it once it was unusable.

Looking at some of the gemstore armor skins, I have found one I particularly like. Problem is, I change my armor every 3-5 levels or so.

If I buy a skin, will I be able to apply it to each future armour piece I purchase, or is it a use-once-only kinda deal?

I am on Desolation and have noticed almost zero community. Was even in a guild with 40+ members and never saw anyone typing in /guild, asking LFG.

The only conversations I have had have been “thx 4 rez”… “np”. A strange, silent game.

Still, it beats APB: Reloaded’s “NOOB HACKER U BAN” continuously…

I think my most powerful tool with my thief (my first and only character) is not an in game item but my mouse. I have almost all my skills bound to my G700 allowing me to run around and strike like Billy-O which is the thief’s major forte.

In a group fight against a major boss? With a gaming mouse, I can run round the back, let someone else take the heat for a while, and still maintain my attack rates. As a casual player, I have made L40 in 2 weeks, but I doubt I’d have managed it if I had to take my fingers off movement controls to attack.

Oh… a little tip for any new thief: Thieves Guild elite skill is a lifesaver.

Signet of Shadows skill is also a great addition for a thief. +25% movement speed means that I can often run right through an enemy camp to grab a POI, wait till their attacks start hitting, tap 6 for Hide In Shadows, and before they know it I am off into the sunset.

I also find Hide In Shadows valuable as a time waster. My usual method of attack is this: Choose the enemy, slowly close firing shortbow. Soon as it starts hitting, back off, still firing. He gets close? Dodge back. Then again… but be wary of any enemies you are backing into. When he closes for the third time, switch to your close range setup. Most of the time you will have already dropped him to third health before he is near you.

If he is still quite powerful, lay Ambush, Thieves Guild and hit the enemy once… then Hide In Shadows to regenerate before rejoining the fight. As a total noob, this has won me many, many fights.

I love the sylvari idle anims so throw me on that bandwagon.

I am a ’sperg and I whistled straight through all the 1-15 zones with maybe a half dozen deaths. So the OP must be doing something wrong, or is specced wrong.

Well, I have wondered about this a lot.

The hairstyles for Sylvari show a huge mix of plant types, plants that are native to very different climates.

My take on it is that the tree does not create Sylvari. Seeds from certain species of plants are simply able to take nutrients from the tree’s power. Technically you could put any type of nut or seed at its base and, with my theory, it would grow.

But, not all plants can become Sylvari. You see many amazing types of flowers in The Grove, but there are no flowering Sylvari. I therefore doubt that the success rate is 100%, that is, not all plants can benefit from the Pale Tree’s properties.

I am no horticulturist, but I would be interested if someone in the know could list the different species of plant represented within the character designer’s hair options.

And more importantly… we out breed you. We literally just fall from a tree.

The Sylvari choice should be obvious, given my psychological situation.

I love the plant anemome leveillei (woodland anemome), so I chose Leveillei. Besides, it is such a sweet sounding name
