we have to do things others may qualify as “evil”.
~Krunch Bloodrage, Looking For Group
I don’t have a main, I have a flavor of the month thing going on.
I got my fused token from 10 keys I bought using gold. yeah. Anet robbing us.
i sold about 30 pieces of soulbound superior runes to an npc because i had no use for them.
Your elite skills are not locked out, you need to select them when you are underwater XD
Wrong. Some elites can not be used underwater and are locked from selection.
Your underwater skills are available to you.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Underwater
“A player’s skill bar changes when swimming and when entering underwater mode. While on the surface of a body of water, no skill slots are shown; a player has no skills to use but is still vulnerable to attack. Upon going underwater, a new skill bar is brought up as a player’s aquatic weapon is automatically equipped. Each weapon provides class-specific skills for use in underwater. Players can also set different healing, utility, and elite skills for underwater combat. Skills which can’t be used underwater displays a crossed waterdrop in their descriptions.”
I take it you’ve never played a thief underwater before? Thieves have only one underwater elite skill available: Basilisk Venom. yeah. kitten that.
I’ll give you fractals, but not “outside of cof p1”. This make up is the best for any zone with the exception of MAYBE new CM and even in that case just make one of them support instead of zerk and you’re golden
5 warriors is also the best way to role WvW, without question. although they will not all be zerk.
give or take a few explorable paths. but open world pve is an exception because it’s a cake walk..
what about the new AC? would you want to take 4 other zerker warrs with you?
Really? 5 zerk warriors doing 40+ fractals?
honestly, outside of cof p1, that’s a wipe waiting to happen
Intercom: “Attention!”
Intercom: “The cafeteria is now closed.”
loot tables reflect on your level, it doesn’t matter if you’r boosted up to 80.
Let’s face it. There is a grind, admit it, accept it, BUT it is not necessary to grind in order play the game.
it was running fine yesterday. i woke up today and my client had a small patch. then boom. fps drop.
when ingame, type /ip in the chat box
My client is showing a hardware error that says I need at least a dual core 2.0 GHz processor. I have an Athlon II X4 2.8GHz.
My fps has dropped to around 15 fps, and my cpu’s processing power is maxed out when I run GW2.
dailies reset everyday at 4:00 PST, have you never wondered why?
I don’t see a reason that they should compensate if this is an isolated case.
SOMEDAY /15 /15
do you dodge or simple facetank the mobs?
In due time, once the full expansion comes.
Those are not dragons, those are champions of elder dragons.
yeah, and have scammers prey on your easily given trust.
my advice, sell the dawn, buy a dusk, sure you’ll lose money, but i’d rather be safe than sorry
rune of soldier if you’re so keen on shouts
did you ask your group to stop combat so you could rez? or possible tell them to rez you?
really?that conspiracy theory again? a Dev already dismissed that in one of the many threads similar to yours.
and what will he buy with all that gold that will make him better than you?
unless that guildie of yours is conducting black market trading, the answer is most likely “nothing”
I have over 1,200 hours logged. I have never gotten a precursor and I am not once upset. I get jealous sometimes but I shrug it off. Sure the gold can help me dress up my toons, but it’s not really important.

faction armor. cultural armor.
No. The mesmer sword block from the oh sword does no damage and summons a clone. Of course a mainhand skill is going to be stronger than an offhand block.
really? my mesmer’s sword #4 damages enemies when i block
tl;dr sherlock holmes is coming to tyria with time gates to super-kitten-lazerbeam all of starfleet… wait
QFT, and those grinds you mentioned are by player’s choice, by the way and not entirely game breaking.
To touch on that, why does it take 20 or possibly 30 days to get a ring? When it only takes 10 days to buy one running daily fractals, even less if you do more than one.
for those people who don’t like running fractals but complain about the gear treadmill.
A lot of people here have a misunderstanding of what a “gear treadmill” is, and grind.
Allow me to explain the concepts of gear treadmills, along with progression. Gear treadmill has roots in a game design from way back. Remember your old games like Mario or pokemon? Yep, those are some original roots of the gear treadmill. Basically, the gear treadmill is something seen in MMOs. It is meant to reward players for advancing in the game (progression), and make the player feel like they got their worth from leveling up or playing. It goes hand-in-hand with progression.
Now, there are varying levels of gear treadmill and such things. Take GW1 for example. Did it have a gear treadmill? Yes, you can argue it has a gear treadmill, but compared to WoW and other MMOs, it is hardly a gear treadmill. Now, we go to GW2. Is there a treadmill? Yes, but it is hardly a gear treadmill compared to WoW. Why? To put it simply, WoW’s gear treadmill is measured by how big of a difference your stats are compared to the previous tiers. In WoW, whenever there is a new patch or tier released, the difference between the tiers are nearly double, requiring you to keep up to with gearing or you’ll be at a disadvantage in the higher raids and PvP.
Examples:
Tier 12: http://www.wowhead.com/item=71481
Tier 11: http://www.wowhead.com/item=65188These are similar gear but with just a difference of one tier level. They’re both tank gear, but let’s look at some of the stats and compare.
Tier 12:
3762 Armor
+420 Strength
+689 StaminaTier 11:
2669 Armor
+217 Strength
+429 StaminaDifference:
Armor: 40%
Strength: 93%
Stamina: 60%As you can see, these are huge stat differences between tiers.
Now, let us return to GW2
.
GW2 has a gear treadmill and progression built in, but it is quite transparent. Similar to GW1, there is a gear treadmill when you level from 1-80.There exist tiers in gear too:
Junk Gray N/A N/A
Basic White 1-80 100%
Fine Blue 1-80 125%
Masterwork Green 14-803 135%
Rare Yellow 35-80 145%
Exotic Orange 62-80 165%
Ascended Pink 80 175% (est.4)
Legendary
Source: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Rare#QualityNotice how the difference between Exotics and Ascended are 10%. If you have exotics, statistically you are at a small disadvantage compared to someone with Ascended. Hardly anything like WoW gear treadmill, am I right?
By the way, there is absolutely no gear treadmill in SPVP, where your stats are balanced and gear equal (and free). Why don’t people play there? There isn’t enough incentive and rewarding rewards. Not enough “progression”, the reverse of the things some of you guys complain about the other part of GW2 having.
Now, grind. This has been talked about to the death in another thread, but the people arguing that there is grind are the people refusing to see themselves at fault. Real grind is where you must do this and that in order to even get to a certain level of equal playability. It is when you’re forced to do something repeatedly without alternate options. As Anet already stated many times, ascended gear were introduced earlier for people to check it out and that ascended gear will have several ways of obtaining in due time. In GW2, I am able to do various activities to get my Exotics, and soon, fractals. Even if I don’t like some of the activities, it is not a grind because I have so many choices. Thus, grind is where you have very few options to get to a certain point in the game. So to be fair, the most grindy thing in GW2 would be legendary weapons and various cosmetic things. You don’t have to grind for your end-game gear. And with that, I conclude my point.
Any arguments?
TL:DR
You are comparing chest to shoulders btw
maybe it has something to do with the dye you’re using
Do you not do dungeons? because dungeon gear will help you getting a full exotic set. You only need to do daily dungeons, all 3 paths will be enough for boots or gloves.
forgive me if i’m wrong but aren’t they bought using laurels?
Right, fixed it. Guild Wars 2, the sequel to Guild Wars, departs from the formula found in Guild Wars, with a clear gear treadmill. “Exotic” weapons and gear are less powerful than “Ascended” items, and “Legendary” weapons are now and will always be scaled to be more powerful than both of these types. Casual players are unlikely to ever equip legendary weapons due to the time required to obtain the materials needed to construct a Legendary weapon. Ascended items, whilst being slightly more accessible, will still take days, or even months to equip for a casual player.
Why did you omit this part?
“Nevertheless, gear is not essential to the enjoyment of the game and does not divide a line between casual and hardcore players, relying on skill in order to successfully complete challenges.”
No you can’t.
Then how come I had BiS items lying in my inventory, ready to equip, when I was level 79 ?
The fact that the grind isn’t as bad as some other games doesn’t mean there is no grind.
I think you’re missing the word “REQUIRE” from the OP. There is a grind, but it’s completely optional (not one can say with a straight face that Ascended Quivers/Books aren’t a grind compared to the Capacitators and the Legendaries are a grind…).
You don’t need to grind and you’ll be on equal footing to a player who does grind. Hence NO GRIND IS REQUIRED.
Compared to other games where grinding is the name of the game.
So its not required?
I want the best stats. Heck lets ignore looks completely, that includes dyes and armor.
The cost is STILL around 70G.
Add up the runes, exoctic armor, jewelry, rings etc and buying traits, weapons too. (In my case thats 3 weapons (A greatsword, normal sword + torch).
And there’s the gist of it, you WANT it, therefore you must grind for it.
That’s how the game was designed imho, you want something, you grind for it. But do you really need it? No, My thief was fine with rares(fractals aside).
it’s not that hard to farm for a CM set
Great, now the Dreamer shoots my little ponies.
From a game which is called “Guild Wars” no real focus going on with guilds tbh, been having my hopes up just too see a “Last Online” or “Last Login” same thing since last year from BETA stages.
The name: “Guild Wars” is more of a lore thing rather than a direct connection to player guilds.
HI OP, before you leave, can i have all your gold and mats?
Aside from the armor sets that are intentionally designed to bear skin, a majority of the heavy sets have this design flaw. I’m not an OCD person per se, but the exposed necks/napes of most heavy armor sets really irks me. It feels weird seeing my guardian in bulky metal armor and an exposed nape, which I will always see because the game is in 3rd person.
The Anomaly is probably the best looking focus i’ve seen.
By using waypoints, you are skipping possible events that you may have encountered if you walked.
Daily achievments, if you max out gathering daily you get 4500 karma
im level 38 and have 10k
Great! Good job on digging up a 2-month old thread!
I avoid them because of connectivity issues.
there’s already this thread.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/any-viable-FoTM-builds
I run a p/d and d/d; with 0/0/30/20/20. Most of my traits revolve around dodge and stealth. My most of my gear are carrion, the rest are cleric, apothecary, or shaman.
It provides decent "tanky"ness with high hp and a lot of evasion. My stealth traits also provide a little support to the group by giving them regen on stealth.
I know this setup is not as effective without coordination. It works for me most of the time, but the bleeding stack limit severely cripples this build when there’s more than one condition build in the group.
Damage over time is always more situational and strangely tuned in comparison to direct damage. It’s more something that’s added because people like the play style.
In the case of the stack limits it probably has to do with spells like these:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Epidemic
Without stack limits the amount of damage that could be done in a PvP situation (or a PvE one that depended heavily on adds) would be absolutely out of control with 2-3 Necros timing it in synch.
And how is that different from being FF’d by 2-3 burst specs?
The main problem I see with stack limit is that if there are 2-3 condition specc’ed players in a group, the stack limit would pretty much limit the damage output of that particular group as opposed to a group with 2-3 burst builds.
Most of us aren’t asking to completely remove the stack limit, we know that doing that would seriously break condition builds. Others have already given some good suggestions that I hope Anet would consider.
People have said what needed to be said. Im just bumping this because this is important.
Bottom line is, the condition limit(for burn/poison/bleed) is hurting conditions builds who play together.
Shiro’s pieces sell for around 2g-3g nowadays.
Yes you can add runes.
in a way you can buy gear in 3 easy steps.
Step 1: Buy gems with real money.
Step 2: Convert gems to gold.
Step 3: Buy the gear you want
edit: wait, new gear? ascended? and what? insight the rage of the grindfans?
Probably the best part of yesterday’s event was the payoff. Opening that chest was so satisfactory, you certainly felt rewarded.
If by that you meant that a lot of people got precursors, while the rest of us got kitten. Then yeah, it was awesome and well worth the 3 hours of my life I’ll never get back… NOT!
Blame the RNG. If you got a precursor, i’m pretty sure you won’t be bitter about it and rant on the forums.
I kitten did it twice on two different alts(80) and didn’t get a precursor, you don’t see me kittening, do you?
(edited by Happyfool.8951)
We were disconnected just five minutes before the karka was defeated. Couldn’t get the loot.
this and this.
@OP be thankful you got something, some of us who did our part got DC’d near the end and got nothing.
