My question is: Warrior changes. Do they work on anything, and if so, on what? Trait changes? Weapon redesigns? Triple weapon swap? Condition removal/immunity? Or just tooltip fixes as always?
Warrior definitely is NOT fine. Otherwise we would see more than 2 teams in EU using them.
Don’t let them skip the matter like last time. Grab some pliers and pull their tongues if you have to. We want some answers.

Over last couple days we’ve seen more dev posts on this forum than past 3 months altogether. We really appreciate every post Tyler and Evan made.
My question is, can we expect this level of communication with PvP community to keep up? Or are you doing this just to calm us down a bit, after last patch nearly caused riots, and we’ll be back to usual silence soon enough?
Former would of course be preferred, and I’m pretty sure community’s attitude towards devs would quickly improve if you were to keep it up.

You guys should go meet and play with Anastasis Tactis in order to get your confidence back on warrior. He runs the unique warrior and he is very strong, I believe he is pro in 1v1 and also the most effectiveness warrior in team-fight now…
Hmm… thanks for mentioning me, but I don’t think I’m not good. Well I have to say the only thing is, I really enjoying to watch people’s rage after they got owned by me in 1v1, and I’m a WARRIOR. That’s the only thing true right here. LOL
For K pop, don’t be sad, because ppl whoever playing warriors r reli skilled players. The reason why is because we don’t want to touch those cheesy classes. Many people try to show “I am so pro” with a cheesy class, which is so laughable. So just don’t think that much
Regards.
Anastasis Tactis.

Bit kitteny but I guess you got right to speak so

Ratings were reset with the patch, when we split the ratings for 3 round and 1 round tournaments. So as people play more games they’ll start to settle again.
Hey Tyler, thanks for dropping by.
Problem is, many people will not play more games, they won’t play any games, exactly because of 3v5/4v5 and getting matched vs high lv teams with a bunch of new players.
What’s with those 4v5 rosters anyway? I can understand a leaver now and then, but not in 90% of matches.

I never called someone a “casual faceroll warrior”. It’s just a sad fact that most people will see that kind of player in every single warrior, no matter if it is true or not. Please read before commenting. Thanks.

I think there’s no one left who believes this game will ever become esport. Well, there’s Clik, who will keep saying ‘more patience, you will not get esport instantly lol’ until he has no one to play against (cheers bro, I know you’re reading this).
I talked a bit with high level players. Most of them love the game, but are getting fed up with Anet’s everlasting ‘When It’s ready, we can’t talk about it yet.’. It seems most of them are putting march patch as the deadline for developers to get their kitten together and show some actual changes.
My feelings? In April even Desolation Mists will become a desert.

I think I’m just gonna farm glory in hotjoins till r50/I find a team/Anet fixes matchmaking. 160k rank points I’m missing will probably be the fastest one to achieve.

altho i can see your frustration with the slow progress we are slowly making…
if you have been here since launch then you have had 5 whole months to play the game and get your moneys worth..
if you were playing wow or similar with subscriptions then you would of racked up £44.95 by now… that more then the cost of the game…and you can just come back later when the game has had more then just 5 months of being live and is in better standing..
every update has to be done in a certain order so the base code is there ect… it will take a while to get up to scratch.. yes but atleast you can always come back to see with no extra charge..

Now, how to bring ex-players back?
Obviously GW2 has an advantage when it comes to bringing back old players because of it’s B2P business model. And all ex-players already own the game anyway. Don’t count on this alone to be enough though.
I believe there are two major groups among ex-players: The Hopeful and Gone for Good.
- The Hopeful are those of us who still follow the game with the hope of some day coming back. They still read and write on the forums from time to time and follow patch notes. I believe with single-round paids and matchmaking in, and rankings not too far on the horizon, we’re getting close to the point when many of them might start coming back. I believe next 1-2 months will be critical when it comes to this group and require Anet to put much effort to not dissapoint this group. Otherwise good will of those ex-players is likely to expire and they’ll move on to the second group. (As you probably figured by now, this is the group I belong to).
- Gone for Good are those players, who lost all their faith in GW2 ever becoming a serious PvP game. They are also likely to stay away from anything else developed by Anet in the future. I believe some of those might still be brought back at some point, but earning back their trust will require huge effort. I like the attitude Jon Sharp & Jon Peters presented in SotG – “It’s not a question of if, it’s a question of when.” If… I’m sorry, WHEN all the required features are ready and PvP commuity grows back to the size it used to be, we might see some of those guys back in game. That is, if they don’t find something else they would enjoy in the meantime (Even I’m keeping my eye on at least three upcoming MMOs).
I hope this helps to shed some light on ex-player’s views and expectations.
Have a nice day everyone and thanks for reading.
Blaze.
because gratitude is a burden and revenge a pleasure.”
Nice read, Zoose.
Just watched SotG, and mostly I like what I hear. I appreciate every bit of info given out beyond good old ’We’re working on something, but can’t talk much about it yet.’.
There was however one moment which really kitten me off – commenting results of single-round paids test as if they were a big surprise. Community spent last 4-5 months complaining about the whole tournament system and proposing countless great alternatives. I think positive feedback in this case is hardly something to be surprised about. I mean, players have been BEGGING for something like this for past couple months!
Now, I won’t be analyzing SotG further, as I mostly agree with what OP wrote, so no point doubling it here. There was however another matter I wanted to talk about.
“A plan for bringing players back.”
This one thing ringed in my head for the whole time I spent reading ths thread.
I’m one of those ex-players myself. After my team left the game I’ve stuck around for two more months, watching our secondary team fall apart, answering countless “Hey, what happened to you, pirates? You guys were doing so good.” questions and trying to tag along with some friends for couple matches every now and then.
But enough about my sad story. I believe to bring us back, Anet needs to understand what made us quit in the first place.
- First off there’s slow PvP developement, slow response to bugs and exploits. Yes, I know both new features and fixes need to be developed and tested before being applied. I understand it all. But it’s easy to lose faith in company’s interest in PvP, when every month they can release big PvE patch, with bunch of new content and huge event, and couple minor patches within few days to fix possible bugs in said content, but game-breaking bugs and exploits in PvP roam free for weeks. I don’t mean to go necro, but this needs to be said – block bug and Svanir runes are great example here. Stuff like that needs to be hotfixed ASAP. Instead, they were in game for so long, the whole meta grew around abusing them. One could say “It’s not such a big deal, it was like three weeks, then it was fixed and everything was fine again.”
Sadly, those three weeks of facing bug-abusing teams in every single game, every single day made my team quit the game permamently. Also due to these three weeks Anet lost all credibility in their eyes. I believe [Yarr] weren’t the only ones to give up game because of this.
Bug and exploit fixes need to be faster, end of story. A simple temporary solution while dev team works on a fix would be to give players option to report exploiters ingame while oficially declaring new exploits a bannable offense as they show up. Of course there would need to be some system in place against abusing reports…
- Secondly, there’s a matter of class viability. We all know some classes are considered mandatory, and very few teams are willing to risk some unconventional class combinations. Even fewer are succesful with those. This is one of the reasons why I left the game. I love Warrior, and that’s the only class I wanna play (even though I can play 2-3 others on a decent level). Even though my burst/control build can be a beast in small fights, like 2v2, I couldn’t find a decent team. It’s better to get faster and more versatile Thief, who can turn 2v2s into 2v1s almost instantly (And survive much longer too, due to all the escape tools at his disposal).
While I support small, gradual changes rather than “Whack a mole” nerfs and buffs, it can often be seen as a lack of action when changes take too long, when stuff that’s visibly op is left as it is for a month or two.
- Third problem is lack of communication. Most of my friends who left the game are convinced Anet just doesn’t give a flying kitten about PvP community. Very few dev posts on the PvP forums and constant stream of “When it’s ready.” and “We can’t talk about it yet.” all factor into this.
I know devs use their free time to post on the forums, and I appreciate this. However better communication would surely be beneficial to both sides – that’s why I’ve always suggested there’s need for someone like PvP Community Manager, who would handle communication between devs and players.
Stuff like SotG is a step in right direction, kudos to Guru guys for making it happen and to Jon&Jon for taking time to participate in it.
Continued in next post.
because gratitude is a burden and revenge a pleasure.”
Agreed. Exactly how I felt a month ago. Quick tip – don’t bother visiting forums too often, you’re not gonna see anything new, and only dev posts you can expect will be ‘we can’t talk about it yet, will tell you more when it’s ready’. Dropping by once a month is more than enough.
Since I stopped playing GW2 I finally got around to catching up with some other games I wanted to play, I suggest you do the same
. Just reinstalled Skyrim with a couple nice mods, should last me till Feb patch. And if nothing changes till then, I guess I’ll be done with GW2 for good.
because gratitude is a burden and revenge a pleasure.”
Or maybe a complete “MOBA” setup. Start with a small amount of gold to buy a starter item and then go farm easy Skritt minions and kill enemy players to get more gold and buy stronger items only for that match. Destroy the enemy towers, get to their “crystal of power” destroy it and win.
Oh god, please don’t suggest adding even more PvE into PvP. This game already has way too much AI in PLAYER VS PLAYER mode. (Bosses, Necro minions, Ranger pets & spirits, Engi turrets, Mesmer phantasms/clones, Thieves Guild, elementals, spectral weapons)
If anything we should be looking to reduce amount of PvE elements, not increase it.
because gratitude is a burden and revenge a pleasure.”
Best burst, best mobility, best survivability, most evades, most vigor, most condition removal, best lifesteal, most offensive abilities combined with invincibility(evades), most stealth(mesmer has 2 less), most off-cooldown abilities, most teleports, second-most stun-breaks. Thieves have it real hard. I play my thief in sPvP just to remind myself why the game isn’t even close to e-sport ready.
Fighting whether thief or mesmer is more unbalanced? Yay! * Grabs a popcorn *
because gratitude is a burden and revenge a pleasure.”
This combo has been around forever, here just with added haste and macroed (grounds for ban btw, get on it mods). The only thing Anet did about it over last 4 months was slightly nerfing CnD damage.
Anyone still surprised PvP community is abandoning this game like a sinking ship?
because gratitude is a burden and revenge a pleasure.”
@ Mesmer: We’ll be addressing the current Mesmer build that’s spiking for insane damage. Sorry that change got through – it is something we’ll be fixing.
I assume it will take you a month to introduce a fix, as usual? Guess I’m done with the game till 15th January, hope you are capable of fixing this mess by then. I’m pretty sure I paid for Guild Wars 2, not Mesmer Wars 2.
So when are Guardians, Engineers, Elementalists and Necros going to ‘play by the rules’ and have LoS, dodge and blind stop their summons?
Perhaps when their summons are changed from UTILITIES to WEAPON skills and have their cooldowns cut to 1/4th of current ones?
because gratitude is a burden and revenge a pleasure.”
Necromancer has to spend 60 points to get +300 precision and 30% more crit damage. Thiefs/warriors/mesmers spent 30 points. Very odd and there are other things that make no sense that happen across minor traits/major traits and structures of trait lines in general.
Warrior also has to spend 60 points.
Trees are:
- Precision + Condi Dmg
- Crit Dmg + Burst Skill Dmg (completely useless stat)

Well, the rank cap won’t be raised in forseeable future, reaching high ranks was supposed to take a lot of time.
I already got all the armor skins I wanted for my Warrior, and other classes don’t really matter to me, So I got no reason to grind glory anymore. Stopped around r40 and slowly made my way to r44 over last month and a half.
My friend is farming his kitten off and getting close to r58 now. Nothing better to do I guess.

i bet by end of january we get everything we need to go Esport. now we just need to start making teams.
My, you’re optimistic one, aren’t you? Well I’ld love to, sadly, no serious team wants to use Warriors. I guess I’m out until something changes. And I bet it’s gonna be quite a long wait.
Please, forgive my doom and gloom, but my optimism and faith in Anet just ran out.
