I’m not saying P/P and S/P should be BUFFED, but completely REWORKED. Most inportantly, they should not be forced to spam single skill 24/7.
Glass D/P has nearly no condi removal, no regeneration whatsoever and by no means perma stealth. Sure, you can build for it, but what use to the team is a thief who has to spend 90% time stealthed? You can run that build in WvW but not in tPvP.
Also, bunch of other classes still have much better condi removal/regen/heals than permastealth D/P thief.
I agree S/D is way over the top though. L.Strike is too spammable and simply does too much with its boonsteal and being unblockable. And perma-evade (a.k.a. Jumper’s) build is simply broken. Hell, I took it to zergjoin once while wearing no armor, still won 1v1s and got top score easily.

Agreed on class effects making it easy overall to pick them out. And yes particle effects need to be toned down, but that’s only half of the issue. Watch tiny asura standing in the particle effects then watch other races. Other races to put it simply stand above it, and the size of their weapons makes the aoe ground effects a lot less likely to block view. With tiny asuras though their waist deep, right in the middle of the ground effects, and their kitten is hard to see even without the particle effects there. They’re the problem and most pvp teams run mostly that.
I don’t think asura should be taken away from pvp, it’s not their animations that’s the problem it’s their size and the size of their weapon, they just need to be bigger overall, have their minimum height not be as long in terms of ration than other races and have their weapons be bigger in comparison to their body.

I assume reworking particle effects will also prevent Asuras from being covered by ground targeted skills. I’ld still wait to see how that turns out. Then we can actually give devs some meaningful feedback on the matter, like “Ok, particle effects are fine now, but we still could use toggle option to make all asuras display at max size”, “Nope, still to much particles.” or “Everything’s good”.

Every major moba has DOZENS of champions, with most of them also having couple diffirent skins. GW2 has 8! classes, and no matter which race is used, particle effects on their animations are EXACTLY the same. It’s really not that hard to learn them and what skills they’re paired with. You don’t need to see ‘azura / female / Devout armor / medium sized body’ to realize this charging guy is Ele doing Burning Speed, you just need to see a trail of fire behind him. It could be attached to Asura, Norn, Ettin, a Coca-Cola truck, whatever, you can still say it’s Ele doing Burning Speed, because it’s unique animation.
TF2, since you mention it so much, it’s exactly the same. I don’t need to see a guy in white coat to know there’s a Medic around, I just need to see a trail of light following someone. If I hear a rocket launcher, I know there’s a soldier around, I don’t need to see a guy with a helmet covering half of his face to realize this, I’m already prepared for him being there.
The reason it’s described as “visual cluster****” has NOTHING to do with character models, but with the tons upon tons of particle effects flying all around (worst offender here being mesmer) and it’s already being worked on. THIS will indeed benefit ‘quality and future of the game and the entire community’.
Here’s idea: let the devs finish something they already have started, and if that doesn’t help, then we can start thinking of radical solutions.

Some people can’t stand some races too. I love my Asura Warrior because they got the best looking animations for this class. I’m fine playing Human Warrior too. If I was forced to play Charr/Norn on ANY class though, I’ld puke on my keyboard and instantly uninstall the game.

Here’s a tip: learn to tell classes by their animations.
If it’s using heavy armor and glows blue, it’s a Guardian.
If it’s using heavy armor and doesn’t glow, it’s a Warrior.
If it’s using medium armor and has animal-shaped bot around, it’s a Ranger.
If it using medium armor, makes pew-pew sounds and drops lots of circles on the ground it’s Engineer.
If it’s using medium armor, teleports and goes blurry when dodging, it’s a Thief.
If it’s using light armor, there’s 4 of him and a lot of pink glow around, it’s a Mesmer.
If it’s using light armor, has a bunch of zombies around/his attacks looks like he’s throwing goo around, it’s a Necromancer
If it’s using light armor, and throws flames/lightning around, it’s an Elementalist.
It’s really not so hard, try it.

I don’t think it’s about hotjoins. Probably something like the current tourneys, but not affecting your leaderboard rank. Kinda like good old free tournaments. Probably a temporary solution to quiet down rant about broken matchmaking until actual solo Q will be implemented.

Uhh, let’s see…
Hotjoin a.k.a. Zergjoin is kind of like WvW, you mostly run around with a group, AoE whatever stands in your way, capture points and move on. Ofc it’s possible to run around solo, but there’s always possibility you’ll run into enemy zerg.
Overall, it’s a place where you mostly farm glory (pvp currency) and rank (pvp ‘level’), test and practice with new builds.
tPvP, or Tournaments are ranked games where teams of 5 people, with very specific composition (usually teams have at least one of each: guardian, mesmer, elementalist, plus 2 other classes (anything but Warrior)) executing the strategy to outplay the enemy team and win the match.
As for builds, for Hotjoin pretty much anything goes. I often see people running around without runes or sigils and still doing ok by just spamming random skills.
For tPvP there’s rather limited pool of viable builds for each class. It’ld take too much space to write about them all, so I’ll just point you to → http://sittingonacouch.com/category/gaming/ . They have a lot of helpful podcasts and videos suited for PvP newcomers.

First off, I’ld like mods to resist the temptation of moving this thread. It’s a thread about possible PvP changes and I feel it belongs here, not in the abyss of Suggestion forums.
Secondly, I know stuff like Solo Que / Balance / Build diversity etc. has to be a priority, I will not include them here though. This list is about small (and some bigger) changes that could greatly improve experience of playing PvP.
Order is pretty much random.
1. Option to disable right-click targeting.
This is obvious and was said over and over. Most of us don’t like random target changes whenever we try to rotate camera.
2. Stop ‘When enemy is at x% HP, y happens’ traits from activating on downed players and inanimate objects.
I’m positive I DON’T need immobilize on a downed target. I want my Panic Strike to activate on people I’m actually fighting, NOT to be on a permament cooldown because I happened to hit a downed player with AoE. I also don’t need it to activate when I’m hitting treb, since… you know… it’s not gonna run away, is it?
3. Add traits/runes/sigils cooldown display to UI.
Related to above. I’ld love to know when can I expect my traits / long cd runes and sigils to activate and plan for it, not just have them go off randomly all the time.
4. Rewards, Incentives etc.

5. Stop camera from zooming all the way in when you get downed.
I’m pretty sure there’s a perfectly logical explanation for something like this to be in the game… Like… Better Immersion when playing PvE? It brings nothing but annoyance to PvP though. Get rid of it please.
6. Give us option to report AFKers in PvP.
Because they totally ruin games.
7. Build saving/templates.
I think this one is quite obvious.
8. Expand PvP forums.
It’s been said over and over. Currently sPvP forums are a mess of tournament announcements, new player questions, class discussions, troll and whine posts. Creating a couple subforums for it could go a long way to bring some order around here. Couple examples could be class subforums (we REALLY see classes diffirently than PvE/WvW players), tournament forums (with sticky schelude of upcoming tournaments) etc.
9. Remove new ‘victory animation’.
Or at least give us a toggle not to show it. I cry a little every time this boring gif flashes and clutters my screen for couple seconds. If you really want to make something like this, please research how others do it successfully instead of putting in something random. 10. Ingame latency & FPS display.
Pretty obvious I guess.

Scoring high in hotjoin is nothing difficult, just follow the zerg and spam whatever AoE skills you have to tag people before they die. You could write a bot to do it. Or train a monkey and it’ld probably perform well too.

Actually it’s not just new players that see particle effects as problem. You might not notice it standing back with Necro, but try doing some teamfights as meele class. Between shatters, Engi nades exploding all around, Necro wells, Ranger traps etc etc my screen glows like a rainbow and I see everything but stuff I actually need to see.

I think for many teams it was the Anet’s focus on PvE. PvP dev team is obviously understaffed, resulting in quite slow developement. My old team (Walk The Plank [Yarr]) left the game exactly because of this. Having Svanir Runes-invul-point capping as well as blockbug rule the meta for a month was a dealbreaker for them.
I hope the 2-week patch cycle is here to stay, not just one-time thing. It could really help bring back some faith in Anet.

Tbh I play both with humans and asura (one actually, my Warrior, because animations are so smexy compared to human Warrior) and I never have the problem recognizing the animations, asura or not. I don’t get why you people have such a problem with it.
Tip: Watch for actual skill animations (all the flashes, trails, colors), not animations on character itself. They’re all the same no matter the race. Only exception here is Warrior, their skills don’t flash so you just gotta learn their character animations. But seriously, when was the last time anyone was afraid of Warrior?
As for mesmers, the smaller the character, the better if you ask me. Less pink clutter all over my screen.

I think it could actually be made quite simple.
Make a choice of either 3 or 4 stats, then instead of assigning the amount yourself you choose a stat you want and it’s priority. So like:
Stat A – choosing as Primary sets it at X value
Stat B – choosing as Secondary sets it at Y value
Stat C – choosing as Secondary sets it at Y value
Stat D – choosing as Tetriary sets it at Z value
Celestial could be made as 3rd option, that gives you all the stats in same, lower values.

Just give us an amulet that works like the trait lines: you have a certain number of points to spend, and you can spend them any way you like.
No. Then you’ll have bunkers with Toughness, Vitality, and Healing Power as their stats. Even in the PvE stat combos, you still have one offensive stat.
This could work if there were stat limits placed on how much atribute types (offensive/defensive) you could use. Say if you get vitality and toughness, you’re unable to also pick healing power. Also a limit on stats itself, so you can’t go something like 1200 power + 700 precision…

Warriors should be redesigned IMO. Anet can buff their skills, but if the warrior doesn’t land a hit these buffs are useless.
Exactly my point. Buffs here and there won’t do, class needs a major overhaul, possibly completely changing how it plays. No other class needs to use 2-3 utilities just to land its damage on target, and it should not be acceptable on Warrior either.
I recently changed to Thief and was blown away by the possibilities. All the tools I need to stay on target are built into weapon sets, leaving utilities free to be used for escape tools/team support/even more damage. It’s like I can do twice as much while putting forth half the effort.
So yeah, Warrior needs a rework. There were dozens of ideas over the months Anet could use. 3rd weapon set, Stance dancing similar to ele’s attunements, increasing range of meele skills slightly… Just stop trying to tweak numbers and actually do something that will matter…

8 months of surgery didn’t seem to help Warriors in the slightest. I’ld say it’s a high time for a sledgehammer.

There is also a bug where you can’t move at all for some reason unless you use a leap/tele. Yes I checked and I wasn’t immobilize
Confirmed. Usually happening after being hit by Ranger’s roots (after killing them) or their downstate stun.
Since we’ll throwing bugs around, I’ll add that Mobile Strikes on Warrior fail to break immobilizes 60% of the time.
