You’re missing the point. Celestial stats are already balanced for combat (wvw perspective).

Just like how soldier and berserker and the others have been given the stats they have. It is a deliberately thought out process of allocation. Adding more just makes it overpowered.

Name, level, crafting professions activated and their level, are character associated stats and already show up, so this wouldn’t be much different to include. Would be interesting, because right now only your enemy knows what rank you are, and doesn’t know who you are :p

I did Light Up The Darkness, it took me about 120 tries as an estimate. And I loved every single attempt.

People also bring up the mad king JP.

It shows just how memorable and epic that JP was, because they still talk about it nearly a year later. It was a challenge, but by no means impossible, just like Liadri.

The combat stats on celestial gear are already balanced for combat. They are not weak like explorer or travellers ones. Magic find was a nice bonus.

Adding boon duration onto the already fair combat stats just makes it incredibly overpowered. I use a full celestial armour/trinket set, and in no way want to see it overpowered with boon duration or any other combat stat.

And the percentages you were exampling are insane! Even 0.5% per piece would be ridiculously strong.

Yeah the one thing missing from achievements like these longer ones to complete is a small item or feature being unlocked that is relevant to the achievement.

And I don’t mean titles. Things like the world completion icon could be added to a character if you do all the jumping puzzles or dungeon paths on that one character for example. Or when your character reaches a certain fotm reward level like 50. Or higher now that we can get over 45 agony resistance.

Or in the case of fractals a command like /maw, like /rank, that plays a small animation.

But that’s entirely off topic lol.

Then again people wanted a /gladiator command in GW1 tied to the random arenas gladiator title… it never happened.

Pristine relic definitely needs to be able to be traded for fractal skins or other items. 50 for a skin of your own choosing is more than fair.

Hobby dungeon explorer isn’t unlimited, it caps out, like fractal one, and salvage one.

Money at the end of maw would be more appropriate. Especially if you’re looking for 3 gold for one level 30 instance, you’d have people farming swamp over and over. Decent money at the end is definitely needed to make it desirable.

It’s not happening, sorry. Due to it’s implications on combat and how much more combat movement mesmers will have.

Warriors don’t have access to protection or retaliation unless through runes, one could make the same argument as yours. But their raw hit points are higher than other classes, increasing their effective hit points through self protection would make them incredibly more resilient (which does happen when applied by another class, but that’s the result of team play)

So if you’re wanting more move speed, get that focus out and equip those runes. Sure, you’d like to use pistol instead. Mesmers have a weapon swap function, pistol in one, focus in the other.

Or hang out around warhorn rangers and warriors, and you’re at no loss. One of my friends mains a Mesmer and I keep him nice and speedy. Team work! It’s the name of the game.

Because we mesmers need our utilities a lot and a running signet would lower our efficiency.

This is the part knbBlackTemplar was referring to. Every class needs their utilities “you are not specials”, you only get 3 after all. Necro and thief have to run signet, to a lesser extent ranger does too. Guard also has no speed signet/passive.

It is the trade off of class balance, they all have their strengths and weaknesses (classes working together can reduce or remove another classes weaknesses), and it is why Mesmer won’t get a passive.

So the upcoming patch is changing magic find and we’re required to salvage blues and greens on a large scale.

Salvaging greens has always been an annoying task when it asks “Are you sure you want to salvage this inexpensive junk item?” and then deselects your salvage kit and you have to double click it again, and again, and again, and again, and again.

So is the warning message and deselection of salvage kits going to be removed from masterwork salvaging? Or at least an option in the options to tick/untick?

The thought of salvaging upwards of 80000 greens, and double clicking the salvage kit each and every single time, and clicking the warning message every single time, is a nauseating thing to think about.

Yeah try putting them in a different order… when I was making gift of might and magic they wouldn’t respond.

Example: I clicked them in the order of 1, 2, 3, 4, and it didn’t work, but 4 2 1 3 would work.

Never said wasn’t, do not exaggerate.

Also never said anything about losing. But I did mention that /sit or run away are the only options against these runes, condition removal does nothing, and stability is not viable enough. Please read and understand fully, the points made, before blindly loving your god mode runes.

For the sake of competitive balance these runes need to be altered and anyone who cares about balance understands this.

Ps. None of the content that comes out in these updates is tested before hand, and hence why these problems occur.

These runes are awesome and yes I have been the one applying and receiving those stacks of confusion. Quit QQing and make adjustments to your play style when faced with this sort of situation.

Whats funny is if the OP had stability he wouldn’t have had any of those stacks of confusion xD

Its the only rune set in the game that can be almost completely nullified by one boon.

Where you say free, others do not. A lot of people spend more money on the gem store per month than a “traditional subscription fee”. Some people get lured in and hooked onto the RNG (Same as the pokies/gambling). Look at the amount of overly expensive RNG skins that have been in the gem store, they cost anywhere over $50 to get, IF YOU EVEN GET IT, amongst things like flutes at $10 each.

I’d pay for an expansion, but not those garbage items on the gem store.

Lets not turn this game into GW1 PvP where it was dominated by a few select classes spamming the same /sit debuff on players, so all they can do is sit there and die (Yes, insidious parasite, spiteful spirit, empathy, backfire, both wastrels, ineptitude, blinding flash, blinding surge, im looking at you (with no proper way to remove them due to cooldowns not being balanced on hex removals))

Mega spam of debuffs that mean players have to /sit and die, or run away, do not make the game fun.

Get a PTR and sought these things out before releasing them into the wild.

Retired my thief.

I’ve played a lot of pvp and wvw on it, and it disgusts me how much your hand gets held, with no recharge, lots of shadow step stun breakers, perma evasion and perma stealth. But noobs do need an easy class to feel like they’re competing. I have no problems killing them (or at least not dying to them, the thief usually runs off) due to playing it, it’s just a really lame gimmick filled class and I feel dirty playing it.

My assassin in Gw1 only had 100 hours logged, I couldn’t bring myself to play it because of how lame shadow form got abused for farming, it tainted the class for me. Thief is comparable to shadow form sins.

My ele has been retired since one month in, the effectively-4-weapons spamming just doesn’t appeal to me :p

This is Grash Steeltower. He has been a magic find guardian since the very beginning.

I tried my best to make him look gimpy, and like to think I succeeded.

Was considering renaming him to Charrnese Farmlegion. But as his use will be limited for me because I don’t use him as a main, this will not be happening.

He has 202% Magic find without food or booster or banner (Guild boost is included because it is up 24/7)

His gear:
Armour: Full exotic traveler stats. 5 pirate runes and 1 traveler rune (1 pirate rune on aqua breather too)
Weapons:
- Super GS with traveler stats.
- Super staff with Sigil of luck
- Exo orrian staff with 3% innate 3% crest of traveler.
Full ascended magic find trinkets. And 6% from rare backpiece compared to 5% from fractal backpack.

He has farmed a crazy amount of items for me, and it is sad that I won’t be using him as often anymore.

Celestial gear is perfectly balanced combat wise, I win most duels in WvW with it. Magic find was a small bonus.

Bonfire and booster do not stack, they provide the same buff.

What you are after is
- Mango icecream (More expensive), or kralkachocolate bar (Cheaper)
- 10% karma/xp banner
- 15% guild boost
- 15% karma infusion
- 50% from karma booster or karma bonfire

I’m thinking about pve cause magic find has no use in fighting other players. And those items weren’t balanced for fighting other players anyway. They were balanced for pve.
Thus just removing it is a nerf to the item, as any change that wouldn’t be even indirectly related to combat.

My last post has been edited that mentions why I chose celestial. And yes it is good for fighting other players, and I have much experience with it, if you do not have much or any experience with it then you shouldn’t form a bad opinion of it until you try it with classes and builds that can pull it off.

It didn’t affect combat, yet you had to fight using it in order to get the loot. Thus celestials offered a good compromise between loot chance and proper combat stats.
And the items aren’t balanced about them being combat stats or not – else there wouldn’t have been all those issues about magic find.
They should just replace the lost stat properly, either by increasing the existing stats of a couple points or by adding something else in place of magic find – and possibly something that makes sense to have in combat situations too, like the stat they replaced. Dunno, movement speed, for example.

You’re only thinking about pve. In terms of pvp and wvw and fighting players not Ai monsters, magic find doesn’t affect combat balance, the stats are already balanced for those purposes, if you add any other stat in there that affects the balance of combat, it will be overpowered and hence why it will never have any stat increase or boon duration or anything else.

I run full celestial on a sword/warhorn / longbow warrior. The reason I chose celestial is I can make use of every single stat with those weapons and traits (shout heals in pve, banner regen for wvw, extra bleeds, Condi dmg, etc). I kill heaps of people in duels in wvw. If the stats were increased or improved, I’d probably steam roll a zerg on my own (joking of course but still). Magic find was not my sole reason for the armour, its combat stats are already balanced.

Karma gain on the other hand… I’d like that.

Boon duration or condition duration affect combat, where magic find does not. Adding those would be pretty overpowered.

They announced that Magic Find was coming out of gear before Celestial gear was added.

Celestial gear is great for specific builds, so to say that there is no use for it is incorrect.

No they didn’t. They announced it shortly after it came out and people already starting investing into it. I personally feel the MF was the weakest part of the armor, but it was still a part of it and partially made up for the insane investment they require. It needs to be replaced with a small boost to the remaining stats, or replaced with Boon Duration. It’s a phenomenally simple solution which would make those who spent two months making them satisfied without unbalancing the equipment.

Magic find does not affect combat. Boon duration does, hence it would be incredibly powerful even at 0.5% per piece.

Karma gain on the other hand…

Please interchange the magic find on celestial gear into another non-combat changing stat like gold find or karma gain, or even WXP gain.

I for one would like karma gain on my celestial gear if I can’t have magic find. Even 1% per piece would be lovely.

Nah, I never swing during mist form unless it was trying to immobilise before they got it off, I start the attacks after it ends when they’re back in down state, and there’s a good few seconds of missing, and it definitely doesn’t do damage.

It seems like a recent thing, don’t recall it happening outside of the last week.

Loved my ranger in GW1, I find myself playing warrior in GW2 though (have 2 wars as well). Best memory I have of it was on one of the kurzick alliance battles maps, it had a bridge waaaaay above a valley, normally you would miss because the target would move ever so slightly sideways, I ended up one shotting an assassin with keen arrow due to the elevation bonus, was a once off though but the 550 damage was massively hilarious.

Treb’s and catapults get elevation bonus in terms of range due to their projectiles not magically disappearing, surely ranger can be adapted to this?

I like the idea of no weapon swap cool down, it would feel somewhat reminiscent of the ‘expertise’ attribute to some degree in terms of a unique class mechanic.

I agree the burst potential is horrendous. Though extra range would allow them to cover the battlefield or capture points from some decent locations using the environment. Think of a fight at NW borderland camp, with some rangers sitting up top of either ledge raining down arrows (adding elevation bonus for rangers would actually make this possible, without increasing the range of the attack), forcing the enemy to reposition or retreat.

Not sure if this is a bug, or attributed to lag spikes (Did not feel like lag but who knows).

It usually happens after Mist Form from the down state skill bar. I’ll swipe at the ele but just see “Miss” on the screen for literally no reason. The string of misses goes on for about 4 seconds.

Wondering if anyone else has encountered this Miss-t Form?

@My Sweet Lily IMO they already achieved that in other aspects. Hypothetical discussion, any pros or cons you can think of?

@Seth, yeah that is an annoying aspect of the AI mobs in the game, but invulnerable mobs means they can be lazy with environment design to counter “environment/AI exploiting”

Obviously not being 100% serious here, but it comes from a true place.

We all know that 1500 range capped Ranger is a terrible joke considering:

- Elevation of the Ranger does not increase/decrease projectile range and damage (GW1 does, hint hint ANet)
- Thief steal is traited to 1500 range.
- Thief has stealth, shadow steps/teleports, to close the distance within less than a second.
- Warriors can close the distance in 1 second.
- Guardians can close the distance in 1-2 seconds.
- Elementalist can close the distance within 1-2 seconds.
- Engineer can close the distance in 1-2 seconds.
- Even melee Ranger can close the distance on a longbow ranger in 1-2 seconds.
- Most ranged abilities tend to be 1200, 5 steps forward and they’re in range.
- Not even the strongest class with ranged attacks.

Discuss Ranger having 2500 range or more and its implications (good and bad) on each game mode:

PvE
- Wouldn’t do anything here, if a mob can’t reach you or someone else, it goes invulnerable.

PvP
- Would be able to sit up high on a few maps and cover 2 points. (May leave rangers battling for prime position in a map?)

WvW
- Would be a powerhouse when defending Towers, Forts and Keeps.
- Could kill siege in a lot of places no class could reach before.

Missing rewards for capping keep

Hills gets me regularly, and the north west camp on borderlands (faithleap, arah’s hope, godslore). Overlook in EB has refused to give me xp/wxp/karma as well. It’s quite frustrating to finally break in and then not get the reward. (Only happens to a few players, the rest get reward)

At least with BL north west camp you know when you’re not getting the reward because it doesn’t show the objective up in the top right of screen, the keeps show the objective but end up giving nothing.

I’m not sure how you considered any of these to be bugs.

If you gain quickness during any skill then yes the animation doesn’t visually change. Your subsequent hits will definitely look and be faster. It is more noticeable with combo skills like flurry and 100b.

As for the 8th hit of 100b not executing, you either got interrupted or canceled it. And yes, Last Chance trait works when you hit something under 25%, I’d hate for my target to go below 25% hp when I’m not near it and waste the 4 seconds of quickness because I’m kiting or doing something else.

Whacking something with a hammer is bound to ruin its structural integrity. Explosive balls of fire too. And setting the door on fire would surely play a part in weakening it. I’m surprised players cant hurt the walls with certain weapons like grenades, be lucky they can’t.

120+ for 8 orbs.

Oh, sword/warhorn & longbow, full celestial armour/trinkets with soldier runes.

Not many people are able to do it, and that’s a good thing, because gw2 doesn’t have enough tough content, it’s something to legitimately work towards that can’t be achieved any other way but skill and patience.

I haven’t got it yet, but I know I can do it soon, I’ve been close more than a few times, hitting her with 8 orbs and having her on low health just to get excited and panic and mess up a dodge. Not even getting frustrated in the slightest, I’m loving the challenge, because it’s based on patterns and not RNG luck. Work on specific timing and movement paths so you can near replicate the same run each attempt (and watch out for the rifts!).

To be honest the only fight that frustrated me was windcaller…. getting thrown around and the terrible camera from being stuck against the wall really burnt my muffins….

The orb can have non combat buffs like magic find xp karma boosts and it’ll be fine. It is when you give advantages that affect combat where things get unfair.
