Stealth on necro? hm.. seems out of place
Mobility, durability, team utility and survivability is what we lack. Currently we’re a very selfish class but we dish out a lot of damage on top of maintaining control. Especially in WvWvW.

How would S5 differ from our dagger 2?
Imo it would be really cool if our life siphon spell from any wep would reapply a 1s freeze for every pulse of life steal we do.. seems like a cool concept to me personally.
I feel like we already have enough condi weps, but that may just be me.
A spectral torch sounds juicy as well.

GS would be my pick as well, my mouth waters whenever an elly throws down a fiery gs and I get to use one for a few secs
New TA exotic drops look neat as well. Atleast the staff does from that preview picture.
There needs to be a minor trait that makes the summon cast instant as well. That would we great.

I believe it’s affecred by healing power, and it’s getting slightly buffed on october 15th for the balance patch.
I was hesitant to want pistols only because I want to avoid being too much like mesmers. But the ideas I’ve been reading here have changed my mind. A phantasmal duelist is very different from the dark soul hunter we’d become. Something a la unholy Alucard would be insane, casting marks that would curse an area, firing corrupted bullets, blanketing an area in choking dust, etc.
I want off-hand pistol to “shoot” jagged horrors. It is my one and only wish, and I will give all of my monies to ANet to make it happen if I have to.
That would be hilarious.
Doesn’t help that people rage whenever we place our useless dark fields, either.
Don’t see how making the current axe be able to cleave really help it out that much. As a full power Necro, the auto on Axe is just doing 600-900 and we already have pretty good AoE from other sources. I’d rather see a range increase on it (as a necro that doesn’t use the staff, that would be great)

AFAIK this patch is just a taste of the big changes coming in a later update. The big stuff will be coming oct 4th
Just a few notes: Warhorn, Torch, Focus and Shield aint Main hand weapons, Scepter isnt a offhand weapon!

There’s also a demonstration of what 2 necromancers can do when it comes to AoE, fractals 48 of course…
Yes, we might have potential, but that won’t matter at when the general public is head over heels from warriors. Right now very few know what our class even does beside oruselves. It’s sad dropping Well of Blood and seeing people dodge out of it.
Unfortunate that it doesn’t work. Would be fun doing signet of locust, traveler runes, speed of shadows and spectral walk. Usain Boltomancer!

I want them to make DS more visually appealing and add either mobility or spells that stops the enemy from getting away (AOE, and something more original than immobilize)

A GS manipulating hp or life force would be neat
Drop marks on yourself, pop ds torment and cc if he stealths close to you. Mostly, try to soak burst with ds if you have it charged.
We don’t get any “real” stability, vigor, mobility, defense, only 1 single long cd blast finisher that needs an enemy to even trigger, useless combo fields that people in wvw rage at or ignore in dungeons, elites that do less damage than our #1 skill or will aggro unwanted attention. Plague is decent in some cases, especially spvp. Atleast we got one of the best heals in the game.

Torch. Would be nice to have access to Burn in some thematic manner that does not involve crits.
Failing that, a Greatsword; could work well if the skills were some dark power based inverse of Guardian Staff:
1: short range cone/wave
2: Lifesteal/corruption orb
3: Crippling mark
4: pbae retaliation buff
5: pull ability
I feel like giving more burn to necromancers would make us overpowered in sPvP, and we’re already borderline OP there.
How about a GS skill where we slam our sword into the ground and blast a ice field, chilling enemies? (blast finisher) or the same but we siphon hp by X amount of enemies hit.

Greatsword as a melee based cleaving power weapon. Give it a skill or two that consume life force or have greater effects with more LF so it could be an ideal weapon for builds that don’t make much use of DS. Also, give it a land version of Deadly Catch.
Also, land based spears.
Deathly Catch would be great on land, never thought of that! We have spectral grasp, but it’s just single target and is a bit buggy.
Want this, especially for my necromancer.
1h swords would be swell as well, especially if we can get them on both main hand and off hand.

I disagree with people saying GS and other close up weps would be out of character on a caster class. Just look at what they did with Mesmers and their greatwords, it’s really creative, and i’m sure they could make it fit on us considering we’re the “full-on” damage caster out of the three (although we arent even above ellies, which is sad)
Creative weapon and profession combos just makes everything more interesting when looking at our options. Consider something like Warriors using stakitten as quarterstakitten , wouldn’t that be creative?
Hoping the same with GS on necromancers, although this is all wishful thinking! (Personally hoping for more of a power + viable siphon GS than condi, but anything would be good really)
In a dungeon where you realistically will have some boons and especially a bit might, with full zerker, your dagger rotation will do around 8-11k every time. Life blast does around 5-8k from what i’ve seen.
Not sure about which of the two is faster though, the full dagger #1 rotation or life blast shots, does anyone know?
We don’t need any more off hands,we need a melee weapon with a cleave.So if we can’t get a 2h Axe,give us a Hammer or GS.

I agree. I just hope they dont nerf the OP classes, but rather bring up the mediocre professions to the same level of the good ones. (I don’t play a warrior or any of the OP classes, so I’m not trying to save my own skin)
Necromancers probably has the best semi-long range AoE capabilities I’d say. A lot of those resources are from condis, but power necros are a close second. Axe is great for tagging, considering #3 hits for 4-5k when you’re fully geared. Although you’re not condi, you should also be running epidemic because other people will stack condis for you which is especially good for AoE champion farming (such as invasions). Wells certainly help too, but our biggest boon is Life Transfer from DS. Unless you get it interrupted, it will tag almost everything.
Wouldn’t mind ANET adding a green coloured aura exclusive to necromancers that would siphon health whenever we got hit and increase health gain from spells for just a few seconds. Would be great casting that as an AoE from the torch or GS, finally giving out some (noticeable) benefits to party members. Would also help the currently weak vampire builds.
Yes, I’ve been thinking about a spectral fire torch as well. Hopefully for main hand so it would be a tad unique considering it’s an off hand wep for all other professions iirc. I’d actually like it more if didn’t even apply burning.
I dream of the day we can use Twilight or this torch which basically SCREAMS necromancer.

So with the fresh interview from Matt Visual with Colin Johanson, he said that they are more likely to add existing weapons to the professions before adding brand new weapons.
So my question is, what would you guys like to see coming to our profession? All of this is subjective of course, and feel free to be imaginative (longbow necromancers) or realistic.
Personally, I would die for greatswords for our profession. I have no idea how the skills would turn out, but Twilight would be so delicious for our class. It also fits theme in the sense that we are the ‘slow but heavy/tough’ light class that prioritizes damage, but that’s just my opinion. What do you guys think?

Because a lot of light armor sets for males already are very copped out compared to females (see; phoenix set). Charr and Norn suffer the most of the males.
Hopefully we’ll see some changes to warhorn so it is more usable in PvE
How do you guys fare in dungeons?
The idea of offensive boons is cool. Rangers have spirit buffs etc, so having some GOOD and exclusive necro boons that are aoe would be nice. I feel like our class is just very selfish and we can’t do much about it.
They said in a recent interview Anet said that there might be even a year until we get new skills (every skill)
I just want a MAIN hand torch that actually doesnt apply any burning. Any cool green fire skills siphoning life force/health, with some strange mobility (not just boring swiftness, ACTUAL mobility) would be sick. Or just give us greatswords, that would be great.

Life blast is meh.. the dagger rotation does around 10k everytime but it’s not safe to be close at all
Mainly toward 2.8k-3k power necros running dagger or axe. Where do we stand dmg wise compared to warriors and thieves? Any reason for people to even bother picking us up for 30+ fractals, long dungeon paths such as Arah or hard dps required bosses such as spider tree in TA? I
feel like i’m not bringing anything to my team although my damage feels reasonable. Also the fact that life blast and lich elite does less damage than your auto in dagger is depressing, imo. Any thoughts?

Anyone know why this isn’t in PvP? Confusion is pretty awful in PvE, but it would be neat to try in PvP with a mesmer. Anyone know?
