If you’re using a hammer then the AH nerf doesn’t really concern you. It was mostly sword/torch builds that really abuses it that gets affected.

Though as a hammer guardian, I think it is actually better for you to go aggressive instead of support. If your group is static, and has an ele, it’s easier for an ele of almost any configuration to keep swiftness, regen, protection and at least a few stacks of might perpetually on the group. Use your blast finisher on their combo fields, and immobilize foes and keep up the pressure on targets. As an AH guardian you should have no problem over extending to get the kill even if you are under fire. It’s the best way a guardian can contribute to general skirmish warfare.

If you still want to consider doing support. The best support a guardian can offer is through blocking. Mace/shield gives you a couple blocking options, sword/focus gives you a couple blinding options, then try to fit as many blind and aegis procs as possible through utilities, traits, profession mechanics, runes and elites. It is a rather skill intensive build though as you have to time everything just right. Another notable skill is sanctuary, which can be used as a quicker casting ward you can use on the go (if traited), a knockback, an almost guaranteed rez, a thief initiative waster (if they’re stupid), and the list goes on. I think most WvW guardians would fall in love with sanctuary.

I am kind of confused about how we’ve managed to take the lead in points with the kind of defense CD regularly displays. I guess we’re better at defending wood keeps than fully upgraded ones?

Kinda ironic how true that is. CD has no defenders. All the commanders follow the strategy of letting the towers fall then re-take it afterwards. Maybe we can call ourselves the viking server or something.

And AH was nerfed pretty hard due to the Vigorous Precision nerf.

Hardly. You lost out on about 150 self-healing every 5 seconds. Oh noes. Compared to the 350+ you heal yourself every other second just from Empowered Might.

You have not utilized the old AH/VP combo to its fullest then.

There was literally no ceiling as to how much you can heal out of those traits, you just need to stack crit and use as many multi-hit AoE abilities to hit as many enemies as possible (even symbols qualify) and spike heal yourself for hundreds to thousands of hp per ability. It was fairly broken, to be honest.

Which is still only 1/5 as much healing as you were getting from EM/AH.

You’re just pulling numbers out of nowhere now.

Guild Wars 2 "Guilds" is there a point?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Heinel.6548

The guild town idea is what WvW needs to be in order to succeed.

It was the foundation of all the oldest MMORPGs and was arguably what created the genre to begin with. It was a community project, that people can contribute to, and claim ownership as a group. It brought people together, they develop culture, create bonds, the bonds that kept people coming back after the magic of rare epic loots have faded.

The current GW2 is little more than a legendary weapon chase and the whole game is set up to reward only the individual and feed the individual ego. Guilds are irrelevant aside from the magic find buff. It’s an anti-social game just like GW1 was (aside from GvG, where the “guild town” manifests as guild renown and reputation), despite Anet claiming otherwise.

I think it’d be cool if they introduce a new WvW map in the desert, with the central garrison/keep being a very verdant looking oasis while out in the field you have periodic and random location based sandstorm, which hinders players and NPCs in some way. Would make for a fun, dynamic map both in visual and mechanics wise.

PS: And to be fair, I love treb vs treb battles. It’s just that there’s currently no way to show my successes for it. They need to introduce new mist weapons for each WvW activity types that’s at least as cool looking as fractal weapons too.

The viability of Spirit Weapons

Spirit shield is very, very, very powerful in fractals.

I’ll be honest, I’ve never used spirit weapons unless I was goofing around in low-level areas. Could you go into detail how the shield works in fractals. Like, does it raise your toughness, or help you block more? I’m curious >_> anything to make fractals easier will catch my attention.

In quite a lot of fractals there are fights where enemies throw tonnes of projectiles around, and even more of them as you continue to scale up, the spirit shield is a fairly long lasting projectile shield, so you can use it, stand near it, and ignore all the ranged mobs pretty much.

The Fundamental Flaw of WvW.

in WvW

Posted by: Heinel.6548

Heinel.6548

That’s not a fundamental flaw of WvW. It’s barely a flaw of WvW. It’s a severe flaw with the rating system.

Glicko is meant to match players with other players of a similar skill, only. It’s not a system that can be used for tiered ranking.

It’s actually possible to for T1 to be worse than T6, but you’ll never know because both matchups are of similar skill. The only way for you to change you ranking is to lose significantly or win significantly, AND for the server in the tier below/above you to lose significantly or win signficantly.

Glicko does not create tiers, glicko creates matchups. It’s not tier 1, tier 2, tier 3, tier 4, it’s matchup 1, matchup 2, etc.

This is a system that stagnates any form of ranking progression for servers, because it’s meant to make similarly skilled matchups, not catagorize the skill of each server into brackets.

The question then becomes why is ranking progression even being discussed. It should not exist in an MMORPG. What do you do at rank 1 besides a “Congratulations, you beat the game?” Do you quit? WvW is supposed to be a perpetual war where you cannot win or lose. All the rest of the system is set up that way, except this “tiers” that people come up with. It is out of place.

The Fundamental Flaw of WvW.

in WvW

Heinel.6548

I don’t quite agree with this. ‘Stalemate’ WvWvW just means that a lot of battles are happening and each realm is relatively competitive. No none wants one world to just steam roll all the others, where is the fun in that? If that did happen the good pvp guilds would transfer to balance the equation and fight the zerg, not join the steam roll.

The stalemate can probably be better worded as stagnation. It is characterized by very little action on the map. Few effective action on the map. Zergs simply take pot shots at each other hours on end doing nothing for weeks on end.

That doesn’t sound like a problem with the matching system at all. No matching system can control the behavior of the actual players during the match. What the current system does is pit servers with relatively similar performance together into their own groups so there will not be massive discrepancy between their power, and it’s actually doing the job quite well and improving.

WvW stagnates or become inert because the actual game rules are not thought out very well and the mechanics are shallow. That has nothing to do with the matching system.

Poor Guardian Traits

in Guardian

Heinel.6548

Pure stat traits like +dmg or -cooldown definitely needs an overhaul. Instead of just changing a stat, they should instead add new mechanics to the table. If we want more stats we could have just used the trait points and gear. I really do not expect traits to work as just another sigil of force or other some such.

The mesmer traits are very good in this regard. The pistol trait reduces cooldown and increases bullet range for both the stun and the duelist, the focus trait reduces cooldown and adds reflection effects to their wall and the warden. That’s the kind of compensation that I expect from taking a weapon specific trait when I’m supposed to be using 2 sets of weapons. Glacial Hearts seems like a step towards this direction, though I’m not sure I’ve found a way to make this particular trait work for me yet.

Spirit weapon traits are the same. Those +duration +dmg -cooldown etc just seems like a bad excuse to lock us out of other more viable traits that actually works with the rest of our builds, and to discourage honor/valor bunkering. A fire inside is… interesting, aside from the fact that it only works on 2 out of 4 skills, it is probably the only way for a solo burn spec condition guardian to “work,” as long as you stay in open world PvE. Spirit weapons are inherently inflexible, since they take up utility slots that we need for gap closers, stun breakers and condition removal. There’s just no reason why anyone should give up any of those for a little more damage.

If they triple the movement speed of the spirit sword and give us a trait that turns its command ability to let us swap places with it I think that could make spirit sword worthwhile. Heck, I’d also take a trait that does nothing but let us ground target the spirit bow’s command ability, at least that’d make it “work.” It’s all the little things, I guess we’ll see in time if build diversity will finally come to GW2.

Guardians vs Warriors

in Guardian

Posted by: Heinel.6548

Heinel.6548

If you are having trouble as a guardian in WvW it’s probably because you have a defensive playstyle. The game doesn’t let you heal yourself through focus fire and still live. If you have this habit from other games, you need to change, no way around it.

Perhaps a bit un-intuitive but if you aren’t the type to spec heavy spike and CC, you should use a greatsword. Retaliation is useful against the biggest movers in zerg v zerg (aoe nukers and rapid firing spikers), you pop this on a bunch of allies and the opposing glass cannons will spike themselves to death just through retaliation alone, for the ones that managed to cease attacking before they die you can swoop in and spin them down quite easily too.

Don’t think that just because you’re a guardian you have to hold a hammer or mace or whatever. Protection and regeneration is easy to come by in a group, plenty of classes can stack it. Your primary objective is to take down the enemy regardless of what your inclination or profession, so think more along the lines of hurting the other side, and less on delaying the inevitable, and you’ll have more fun.

Question to Guild Wars 1 players

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Heinel.6548

I actually think the premise of GW2 is good. I like the way combat is handled compare to GW1. In GW1 we had to handle a lot of abstractions, like take shield of absorption of gw1 and compare it to gw2. the new SoA makes much more intuitive sense than the old one. I also like projectile reflection fields more than hexes like backfire and such, because again it’s more concrete and you can visually see what’s happening, unlike in GW1 where no one knew what mesmers did at all.

My biggest disappointment though has to be that GW2 is released incomplete. The WvW system is not very well thought out and shallow. sPvP was supposed to be what I bought the game for, it was what GW1 meant for me, but just one game mode (and it has to be the one mode I hate the most) really makes me feel sad.

So the OP is incorrent it’s not 15% difference in damage but the damage with MF is 69,9% of Berserker damage… a tiny bit higher than 2/3

I hope we ALL agree that doing 2/3 of the damage of another “similar” set with the same survivability is a HUGE differnce.

Which is why I said that it’s easily noticeable and why I vote/kick that person or leave immediately upon making it clear I wont carry someone else sporting MF

Seems to me this is easy for a concerned player base to police this kind of behaviour out of the game.

It’s still un-fun for many people to watch others in party like a hawk. Majority of the players will not do this. So even if the leech got kicked from your party, he could just LFG for a few more minutes and get another one.

All shouts as utility and empowering might.

And if you’re looking for raw healing output (it looks like by “buff” you don’t mean buff but actually “heal”), altruistic healing still helps you. With a shout build with staff as your second weapon, you’ll be able to heal yourself without using your #6 heal skill. Which means you can take heal breeze for that slot and heal others.

1h sword is best as a solo weapon.

A guardian with max healing output would have mace/shield and staff as weapons, heal breeze for #6, stand your ground, hold the line, and retreat as utility, tome of courage elite, traits: strength in numbers, honorable shield, superior aria, writ of the merciful, battle presence, vengeful, elite focus, full or mix of HP/pow/tuf and HP/pre/vit armor, jewel and weapons, superior sigil of water on main/two hand, superior sigil of life on shield, and soldier runes.

What’s with the hard on with renewed focus? It suffers from the same problems as other invulnerability skills. It’s not absolute invulnerability, conditions that is ticking will continue to tick. Mist form also makes you invulnerable, and it’s better than renewed focus in multiple ways including being up for longer, gives you a speed boost, and allow you to heal and use utilities while being invulnerable.

There’s also no reason to exclude runes and other buffs in the discussion either. The fact is the min-max players will capitalize on the most effective combos and they will always dominate the top of the meta. You either have it or you don’t.

Commanders and Professions

in WvW

Posted by: Heinel.6548

Heinel.6548

If you consider playing your commander char as your main, you should pick a class that you are most happy with. Though as far as WvW goes, currently there are a few classes that are simply superior because of their tool set (the other profs are just grunts). The following classes can do everything every other prof can do that can contribute to the war’s outcome, plus the following perks:

1. Thief
No not the instajib roamers. Survival thieves with stealth, allows you to do tactical strikes behind enemy lines, contest waypoints, stalk and track major zerg movements, basically any covert or black ops. Also to never die, because dying as a commander is ugly.

2. Mesmer
The second covert/black ops character, this one comes with logistics – portal. Abuse it, abuse it often.

3. Elementalist
Not sure if these will ever be fixed, but dragon tooth can nuke sieges you have no line of sight to, and swirling wind can completely negate siege projectiles. Super mobile, and can lay down pretty hefty artillery fire themselves. Currently the best backbone for siege warfare.

===

That said, as a commander it’s okay as long as you’re leading, there’s no ideal profession, you don’t actually have to do any fighting or anything if it’s not your leading style. So just pick what you feel best.

Dredge shockwave does not get reflected, I always LOL at guardians that use it against them. Especially the one from the champion

Have you done CoE story? Kudu has 1-shot projectile. It doesn’t get reflected, he still shoots your kitten Not to mention that in there even aegis doesnt help, you can only dodge out of it. And there are quite a few examples of such mobs.

Or the fact that if you are 5-10 steps behind the wall the mobs just shoot over it, the same applies if you’re downhill and mobs are above you. Which is realistic but kind of not cool due to the long reuse of the wall. Not to mention that sometimes you might lag and you might think you are behind the wall but you really arent. No, I personally prefer protection, if anything

Dredges shockwave can be reflected, however, the projectile has a soft edge, which means its edges will get through the wall (the projectile gets reflected when it’s center hit the wall) and as long as some part of it scratches your hit box before the reflection occur (where the wall absorbs it and throws the same ability back as cast by you) you take damage. If you stand further away from the wall you’ll not get hit by any shockwaves, no matter how many are there.

Many people miss this because the skill doesn’t look like a projectile and they never traited consecrated ground and never bothered to move after they cast the wall. So next time, take a few steps back.

On abilities that could go over the wall, you should instead stand inside the wall, your hit box is shorter than the height of the wall and the wall will reflect it before the thing hits. This same tactic can be used to reflect things from both sides of the wall in case you are hit from all directions (may be hard to pull off as charr or norn).

The color actually does serve a purpose. In any given tier the highest ranked server is green, and the lowest server is red.

On EB, green is in the most disadvantaged position, since they cannot have a treb in the safety of their keep that reaches stone mist, and their towers closer to stonemist are all on lower ground, and jerrifers have a cliff that can be used to siege their keep.

Red on the other hand can treb stone mist by just building on their keep wall, with a maze in front to discourage enemies, and anzalias is on higher ground.

Blue is in the middle of the two. A treb can be set on a jump puzzle at the edge of their maze, but it can still be taken out easily by a small quick team. Overall they are neither advantaged or disadvantaged compared to the other two.

I think it’s a small group of people who play any given game for the sheer “playing” of it. A rhythm game? Sure. A platformer? Sure.

But a game like this? I don’t think anyone wakes up, has breakfast, and then goes “You know what sounds like fun? Using 1-5 weapon skills and 1-5 utility skills on various enemies.”

They do it to earn things, to feel a sense of progression, to get stuff, to make things. I doubt very much that many people play simply for the combat. This is an MMORPG, it is an RPG, and it is a game about progression.

The progression after level 80 is just mind-numbingly poor. It takes ages to get anything done, and you can play for 4 hours straight and not get anything good. There’s no incentive whatsoever to do hard content, and so instead people spend hours and hours doing the same things over and over again (Farming).

That’s not fun. But running around completing the map and doing hearts to unlock heart vendors and earn cash would be tons of fun if only you actually got rewarded for doing it, instead of the game rewarding 24/7 farming and only 24/7 farming.

Right now, for wintersday, running around finding presents is awesome! Getting tons of them is amazing, getting a guaranteed one for each group of enemies you kill from a big present box is great fun.

Opening them and getting one ugly sweater each and nothing else is not.

I feel like I’m playing friggin’ maple story.

But GW2 is trying to be a game like rhythm games and platformers. In fact both a rhythm game and a platformer and a tower defense game exist in the wintersday event. I did the ones I liked, skipped the rest. No loss there.

The phat loots and the legendary chase is only one optional aspect of the game. One that many of us are not pursuing and we’re still logging in and doing stuff. You are fixated on this aspect of the game because that’s what you wanted to do, and you are complaining only because you didn’t get what you wanted. The odds aren’t exactly unknown to you with numerous threads detailing it on this forum.

Another assumption :/ Odd how the WvW forums are consistently more active than the SPvP forums, dontcha think?

It’s the same people who are saying they’re quitting or their guild has already quit, and saying thiefs are OP, culling is killing the game, and is there anything else?

WvW appears doing great because there are people in it doing their PvE dailies and also leeching event completion rewards from tower zergs.

I wouldn’t be surprised if people who actually play the siege warfare game is fewer than the ones playing sPvP.

If the idea is to have fun in open world PvE, you can try to gradually switch in more berzerker gears until you’re almost always dead but not quite down. If you can do full berzerkers and still soloing, start switching in magic find gear until you’re completely magic find.

You can tweak your build along the way as you see fit.

Why many people are no longer playing GW2?

in WvW

Posted by: Heinel.6548

Heinel.6548

I don’t think the thief skills need changes if it’s just a problem in WvW. I don’t see many people complaining about thieves in sPvP or PvE. If it’s a WvW specific problem then we should have a WvW only solution for it: stealth-revealer siege weaponry.

I also think shutting down consumables completely is not a good idea. We need more operating costs in WvW, and consumable is one avenue for such. If people are somehow not motivated to use it right now (and hence creating an imbalance), it is because the current consumable system is inconvenient to use (food tray system is troublesome), and there’s not enough returns to justify the cost.

Mesmer Vs Necromancer Pve dungeons

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Heinel.6548

Heinel.6548

Mesmer is the counter class with a solution to pretty much any problem. Getting shot down? Feedback. Too much boon on foes / condition to allies? Swap them. Noobs can’t get through traps? Portal.

Necro is the attrition class that can out-last most fights with the highest health pool, and a robust skill line up. Whif away all sorts of pressure with one press of a button. No surprises, slow and steady.

What more needs to be known about the two? If you want specifics, the only way to learn them both is to play to lv 80, then decide which one you like better.

I’m quite surprised that you’d have no problems with mesmers early on and yet have difficulties with guardians. Are you over thinking this? Guardians are as simplistic as can be in the early levels. Don’t try to fight things higher level than you at first, don’t try to take on more than 3 things at once, don’t stand still and try to tank the slow big hits. There’s really not much to it then bashing the mob till it dies.

New Guardian - Tips and appearence?

in Guardian

Posted by: Heinel.6548

Heinel.6548

I primarily play a healing support Guardian.

First thing first, we are not well known for being super good healers. We can heal ourselves really well (it’s our primary way of survival) but as far as easy mode group healing, Warriors probably have higher group heal output and all they need to do is press 3 buttons, no targeting or aiming or timing needed. It’s all instant. If you are into super duper micro, Engi is the class with both rapid blast finishers and water fields in one build, in addition to healing effects from actual heal skills and traits. If you are looking for strictly group healing, guardians may not be the best choice, we aren’t bad, however, thieves have this tougher than us

But Guardians do have a niche, wards. We also have very good projectile shields.

What to do:
1. Lead the charge into the lord room in stone mist against ballistae. The ballista hurts and go through your projectile shields, but aegis works and you can reflect all those pesky fireballs and arrows. With HP and some vit, blocks and invulnerability, you are in a very good position to simply barge through, as long as you go in as a group, and attack siege first. If your group is organized enough for stealth and/or portal bomb, then you can instead push people off sieges to instantly neutralize them with more or less the same build.

2. Prevent people from charging through corridors, be it stone mist, dungeons, or any choke points. This is where sanctuary, line of warding and ring of warding comes into play. PvE mobs will not counter this and just bang their heads against your ward (except unshakable bosses). In WvW 95% of the people do not know how to get through your wards either. And for the remaining 5% that do, just make sure you use it when they least expect, are out of cooldowns, or just plain don’t have time to deal with it.

3. In mass aggro situations with mobs, whether melee or ranged, the wards and projectile defenses are also golden. Guardians are one of the few classes who can just stand still against mass gravelings and lava elementals AND kill them all by yourself. Or hold your own against mass dredges without stealth. Simply out heal the little hits (achievable just by auto-attacking), reflect the projectiles, and block the rest. Anything that’s wasting their attacks on you are doing nothing to your allies, which makes healing them unnecessary.

4. This is more forced than by choice, but as a Guardian you have no escape skills, so if you are slow to retreat you’ll fall behind, and everyone in the entire enemy zerg will focus you because they know you can’t escape and they want their loot bags. So this is the time when you throw down all your cooldowns and try to hold them for as long as you can. With a bunker build you should be able to hold 10-20 seconds regardless of the size of zerg. That’s enough to give your allies enough of a headstart that the pursuers will give up, so you can stall a zerg on your own, and if none of them managed to CC’ed you (aegis aegis aegis) then you can even live through it all. (Not applicable to norn guardians as I’ve seen them go leopard form and stealth -_-)

5. When all else fails, there’s always the tomes. I personally do not use them as I would rather things don’t progress to that point to begin with, but the healing tome can be useful against the unavoidable agony at the jade maw.

So basically you act as the shield between the enemy and your allies, not necessarily as a “tank” but with a combination of defensive magic and healing.

Skills to watch for this role:

“Stand Your Ground!”, Sanctuary, Shield of the Avenger, Wall of Reflection, “Retreat!”

Armor stats:

As have already been said, it doesn’t really matter. There’s no magic number. If you want more healing you use HP gear, if you want more damage you use power gear. I used to use HP/Vit/Pre armor, Pow/Tuf/Vit weapon, and emerald jewels.

Many people say Healing gear is not worth it because healing don’t scale very well, but as a healing guardian with altruistic healing, you are constantly spamming heals on yourself, it makes quite a bit of difference over time. You can also take quite some beating, press the Empower button and watch your health shoot right back up (#6 healing skill not necessary). Your dodges heal, your auto attacks heal (if you use mace). You can quite easily keep both virtue of resolve and regenation boon going so pressure damage you can pretty much ignore. When the spikes come you can either block it (especially the rapid hit attacks, you should use Shelter, since they’ll stack multiple might on you) or dodge it. When it comes to bunkering up the guardian really isn’t lacking.

Though your damage do suffer, so keep a power set just in case.

Traits

Altruistic healing, empowering might, inspired virtue, the rest is up to you

Switch badges from JP to structural upgrades

in WvW

Posted by: Heinel.6548

Heinel.6548

You said you needed the supply, triggering an upgrade doesn’t take the supply immediately, you race the worker that is running those supply to upgrade.

The only times this doesn’t work is if you have only just took the tower and had just finished an upgrade, which means your reserve should be low, but stars need to align for you to get attacked then. That is when team/map chat is useful… to a certain extend anyway. Not like people are going to listen if that means they aren’t claiming their rewards. But usually the attack happens before that or not at all. In most other cases your structures should be sitting at max supply with no one to do stuff with it.

Alternatively disable it when the structure is contested.

Switch badges from JP to structural upgrades

in WvW

Posted by: Heinel.6548

Heinel.6548

Badges need to be removed from the end chest from WvW Jumping Puzzles. Instead, give badges for upgrading structures (and possibly allow people to just exchange coin for badges if everything is fully upgraded with a less favorable ratio).

We get it, you want to nudge PvE’ers into WvW, but the current system is failing.

Problem:
1. PvEers are getting camped in the JP by organized gankers and spamming team and map chat with tears. This is frustrating to them as they see this whole ordeal a hindrance at best and downright frustrating at worst (their words, not mine).

2. Throwing them into a more or less FFA JP does not have anything to do with siege warfare. It’s a ganker’s heaven, except the aggressors didn’t actually get to see any of the tears they harvested so it’s unsatisfying, and the rest of us have to endure it in team/map chat, even though it is none of our business.

3. People are also circumventing the systems by asking for portals. They essentially get free badges with no efforts spent. I do not believe this is how the system is intended to work.

Why my idea works:

1. The cost of upgrading structures is insubstantial to someone who play PvE. But the costs add up if you primarily WvW. What happens is things just don’t get upgraded at all a lot of the times. It’s not a big deal for the war, but it’s a big deal for the game because the gold sink isn’t sinking gold.

2. PvEers needed an area that is relatively shielded to get them started and not get discouraged, as is the case with the lamb to the slaughter approach of the JP.

3. They needed an introduction to siege warfare, and defending at a friendly structure is relatively low risk, everyone can work at their own pace.

No major content change is necessary. Just tweak a few NPCs and everyone will be happy. So please fix this, and before february please, with just one small change you’ll instill so much confidence in the WvW AND PvE crowd. Please do something right for once!

This game is lacking one thing for me, FFA

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Heinel.6548

Heinel.6548

Again, no one if forcing you to join a FFA server, don’t like the rule set, done play, as for looting, I said non bound items, that being unequipped BoA items, karma, small coin or crafting items.

I never understood why people get so kitten when players ask for something that will not effect those players that don’t like it one bit, How is a server for players that enjoy this type of play hurting you?

I feel this is some type of possessive personality disorder effecting players when it comes to games, I mean I can see if players asked for a change to all servers that it will indeed effect others that do not wish to partake, but in the case for a FFA server for those that enjoy this play and players getting mad over it as if it in some way is forcing them to partake in it, is a bit weird.

You’re over-simplifying the change. GW2 PvE is focused on carrots on a stick with “progression” as the main purpose. What this attracts are farmers who will grind for whatever is the next shiny. These are also players who hate losing anything at all, because it sets them back on the “progression” line.

All those FFA PVP games do not have this same “progression” thing. That’s why you can kill others and loot them, loot everything, even, and it will still be alright, because it’s comparatively easier in those games to attain meta-level equipments and they (usually) can at least keep their skillset or tools to survive.

In order for Anet to introduce a FFA PVP server, they have to make it so FFA PVP actually works for that server, this means overhauling the PvE system (or at least introduce repurcussions for crime), and it eats into development time for the new content that the other servers should be getting. There’s enough complaining about updates not coming fast enough in the forums already. Anything worst will just be bad news for Anet.
