It doesn’t solve anything, only let a few more people in on the secret.
It solves the problem of people who are not happy with others having the advantage, which is the entire point of this post.
I would like to see some sort of “Beta patch notes” where they list changes. Those may or may not make it into the game, but will give everyone equal footing.
This is the most sensible and easily implementable solution to tackle this obvious problem.
Comments made by some users which are neither helpful or constructive and generally opposed to the idea of equality of information between players would lead us to conclude one of 2 things;
1.) they are are extremely naive and unaware of these things happening, or don’t believe they are happening
or
2.) they are these dodgy players in question attempting to downplay the seriousness of the situation in order to ensure personal sustained profit through said methods (more likely)
agreed. Either naive or beneficiaries.
Just to add one final thing: ANET will likely not do anything about it. Only if it is an obvious case, else they will let it slip. It is simply not economical to enforce that type of oversight or they have the legal rights go through people’s personal communication to build a case.
Insider trading will exist and persist. End of the story.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Anet employees themselves. I watched an intern that had the Anet tag selling names he had locked up once. He asked in guild chat if we wanted them then spammed LA. That may not be as bad as insider trading, but just shows what they will do and I wouldn’t put it past some of them.
That seems pretty ludicrous so unless you have proof I’m gonna call BS.
Asking for proof of ludicrous claims makes you a lawyer wannabe. Why can’t you just belieeeeeeeve?
Simply, the price/volume data pulled from ANET database is readily available, while this claim does not have anything to show.
To be honest, whatever. That is why people can make money in the market, because there are always fools to take the other side of the bet. Markets need fool to let other people make money.
You guys have failed to realized stamping out insider trading will benefit legitimate players, but I guess some people who benefit from asymmetrical information will complain.

Yes, I can explain it to you, as well as other’s have already tried. I’m not going to beat the dead horse anymore.
Do yourself a favor. Look up the information on the basics of the Scientific Method please. You might have a life-changing epitome.
And no, btw, I did not fail “university”; I graduated with Honors.
Buddy, I graduated with High Distinction (not just Distinction). Your honors just meant 4 years of univiersity instead of 3 years post secondary program. LOLOLOL I graduated with High Distinction with Honors in a top university rank in the world.
in the post “…. price of precursor” you speculate, in the “insider trading” post you promote scientific fact. What a troll or your are just inconsistent. Two posts in the last ten minutes with opposite views.
Sort yourself out please.
For someone graduating from a top university you can’t name, you seem to have problems with basic punctuation.
For someone graduating from a top university you can’t name, you seem to have problems with basic grammar.
For someone graduating from a top university you can’t name, your arguments are inconsistent and ad-hominem. Particularly if the other person is better at arguing than you are.
For someone graduating from a top university you can’t name, you seem insecure. Calling everyone “Buddy” will not get you friends, no matter how convincingly you pretend.
In short, you’re not convincing anybody. You’re coming off as stupid, particularly with the “lawyer wannabe” drivel.
Do you think I really care about posting proper sentence on an internet forum? lol
FYI, my use of “buddy” was not a friendly call at all.
Why I don’t want to name my university? Simply, I do not wish to give out my private details to random folks on the internet. Take it or leave it, it is the truth.

tl;dr — We’re not even paying subscription fees! Why are people complaining about content in a (after you pay a flat price) free game?
Some people’s kids..
I’ve spent about 150€ on the game box and gem store so far.
So can I complain now?
exactly. We have spent money, and I know I have spent money.
Except, that’s not lawyer-wannabe talk. That’s common sense, basic scientific knowledge you learn about in ELEMENTARY SCHOOL…..
Exactly, it is the basic. You should use deduction capability of your brain, but if you cannot use the price movements data and news announcements availability and make judgement call, you REALLY FAILED UNIVERSITY.
Can you explain to me, why certain goods move up in price the day prior to changes?? (the details of the changes was not covered anywhere? not on GW2 dev interview or news outlet or gw2dulify?)
You might say, oooh random movement in price, but it happens almost every time to items with sizable and obvious demand/supply change.
If all lawyers are like this, I would not hire any of them into the investment industry.

Whats the weather like in Conspiracy Theory Land?
If the real world financial market has insider trading, this game definitely will have it. Since there is zero punishment and lack of oversight to control for this type of information being given out.
You know what it’s called when people allege a vast conspiracy and their only evidence is conjecture, circular logic and reductive reasoning?
Claiming that it doesn’t happen with incomplete knowledge is just as bad as claiming that it does happen with incomplete knowledge.
Actually, the default position on any claim is the skeptic. The burden of proof lies with the person making the claim. I made no claim that it isn’t happening, for all I know it might be happening. But pointing out the lack of evidence in another’s argument does not, necessarily, imply an endorsement of the opposite position. Understand the difference?
But I didnt see any evidence offered by the OP or any of the other parrots in the replies, so it was pretty clear that once again we were trapped in a conspiracy theory thread made by someone whose creativity is a bit bigger than his reasoning ability.
Burden of Proof … lol, obviously you are a lawyer wannabe. Buddy real world investing or human behavior don’t always follow your rule book. Stuffs you learn in school is important, but please do not assume the world work in that naive simple case.
You want an easy way to spot real world insider trading? VERY EASY, check out the price of certain stock prior to M&A announcement, almost in all cases the price creep up a little.
And yet, everything I said was correct and your response didn’t address anything I said.
Hilarious! All you really said is basically: “I don’t know anything, you cannot prove anything. Therefore, there is nothing.” A typical knee jerk response from a lawyer wannabe.
We are talking things that are more similar to the markets than court cases. If we need advices on the legal ramification of a deal, we will talk to you else be gone, because your “expertise” is useless.
If you’re going to misrepresent what I said, ofcourse the strawman you beat up on will be pretty trivial.
My assertion, because you clearly didn’t get, is thus, “There is no obvious evidence of insider trading, and the OP did not present any. Therefore, anyone claiming to ‘know’ it was insider trading is taking part in a conspiracy theory. A responsible, rational person waits until the evidence is presented before reaching a conclusion one way or the other, and certainly doesn’t make strong allegations until such a time.”
Again it isn’t my responsibility to prove to the OP that there was no case of insider trading, because I don’t know that there wasn’t. Since he is making the claim, it’s his job to back it up or back off of it. If he makes a strong claim with no evidence and won’t back it up upon criticism, it is not ad hominem of me to call it conspiratorial thinking, since that is self-evident.
As a completely anecdotal aside, a guildmate of mine made 1,200g after this patch by investing heavily in wood stacks of all tiers as soon as they announced low level mats would be part of the ascended crafting process. No one tipped him off from inside anet. He just used his brain and realized that while everyone would be rushing to invest in ore, investing in wood (much less supply) would yield bigger gains. No insider trading needed when you simply utilize publicly available information more intelligently than the average person.
Exactly what I wrote, anybody read your comment can conclude your comment as:
“I don’t know anything, you cannot prove anything. Therefore, there is nothing.” – typical knee jerk response from a lawyer wannabe.
About your anecdote. Who is talking about patch detail being public available prior to release? Do you know what we are talking about here at all?
P.S. I read all of your paragraphs of empty statements. You think all human should act like a machine, “If there is no A, then we cannot do B, so don’t even think about C.” <- you might pat yourself on the back and tell yourself that you are being logical, but it is actually an extremely short sighted action.
And go read Buttercup comment right after yours.

Market manipulation is a deliberate attempt to interfere with the free and fair operation of the market and create artificial, false or misleading appearances with respect to the price of, or market for, a security, commodity or currency.
Since we deliberately buy knowing it will create the appearance of low supply to raise prices given = or speculated > demand, we effectively (based on the definition) are manipulating. False buy orders are just another type of manipulation.
speculation is not manipulation…. people…. If one person buy it all, ya I can see that as manipulation, but the latest info given out by Smith just don’t present that case. However, if you become the market, you are assuming a great risk. You might blow up spectacularly, just like the recent JP Morgan’s London Whale.
lol… desperate …….
too long to read, can you have it in point forms?
dont speak too soon, you haven’t play it yet.
Champ boxes.
People are getting cores, and lodestones that they previously had to farm a certain type of mob for, or run a certain dungeon and hope they get one in a chest.
(this is a good thing)
it is a good thing, I dont want to stay in the same place farming the same mob again and again for some core or lodestone.

Stock price naturally goes up and down, even when there is no material information readily available.
Just cause the price changed in one direction just before a major announcement doesn’t mean it was insider trading.
buddy, I dont want to argue with you. However, there is a very obvious correlation between announcement and prior day trading. Some prop trader even used as way to bet on possible M&A. My finance professors and industry practitioners all agreed on it. Btw I am already working in the field, and not a student spewing theories.
And so then that wasn’t insider trading. It was just some trader speculating that there would be a M & A.
You may work in that field and obviously know more than I do but making blanket statements that say a rise in share price before any positive announcement is a sign of inside trading isn’t convincing. It could be, but not always. If it were always the case I would feel sorry for the folks at the SEC.
No, the trader acted on the price movement the day prior to the announcement. They are not the one initiated the price movement.
Actually, you should feel sorry for the SEC folks. They have been criticized for not doing enough for a long time. They seem to step it up a little after financial crisis.
I had been getting every LS achievement up until SAB… spending 200+ hours in a month trying to get the most time consuming and grindy achievements in the game just wasn’t worth it, plus i’d have to multiple that by x10 if I didn’t buy their stupid P2W coin.
I’m having much more fun now just playing the actual game and ignoring the poorly implemented LS crap.
Buddy the LS has been a downer. The only good things came out of it are qualities of living improvement additions. The actual LS stories and contents? hahahhha, kindergarten story and “Press F 200 times! or ZERGFEST”
so i guess it is today’s patch?
I just play, if I get close to finish the daily I will put a bit effort to get it done. Last night, I only did one daily so I am not going to finish that. Sometime, when I play a lot I get to finish over 5 dailies without noticing.

lol……………………….. where you buy your crystal ball? walmart?
I leveled my crafting just to get rid of these hahahaha. but dont nerf it, I need it for ascended weapons, possible armor and trinkets… thats a lot of needs
more scarlet story…. BLEEEEEEEEH. That character is already as boring as a twig.
She is the Disney villain that goes, “muahahahahha, I’m sooo evil! I love destruction and chaos.”
Holy, can your writer write something more mature or complex character? Anti – hero or whatever?
Bought it at 500g, next day it went up to 600g. I knew the zerg buyer will come in, and bought my dawn just before the rage.
I think charged lodestones were ridiculously out of sync with the prices of other lodestones. I think a reasonable price is somewhere in the range of 1 to 1.5 gold. I applaud Anet for increasing the supply of them.
Why should they? The drop rate and the # of mobs in game that drop that specific lodestone are probably the same as any other lodestone. Drop rate/supply is not the contributing factor to Charged Lodestone’s price.
I reckon it is largely based on demand, considering the numerous, highly-regarded items that use Charged Lodestones.
You may want to pay only 1 to 1.5G but there are many more buyers out there who are willing to pay much more than you do, and the suppliers are more than happy to sell to them.
Buddy, you forgot about Champ bags that drop them like mad. I am getting core and lodestone on much higher occasion than ever before. (Not like they drop like dandelion, but good amount) If you do champ zerg… well… you get a lot
I’ll throw all caution to the wind here and say… Go ahead and do it.
(b/c being xenophobic on it just kinda feels a littleracistnationalistic TBH)Plus they can’t artificially depreciate their own income in Tyria either, I don’t care how much of a global super power they think they are…
Regarding the censorship from what I have seen in private test, necromancer has their minion replaced by normal monsters and oversized charr toy soldier.
Why is that exactly??
I don’t mean to derail here but I thought all their standards were purely secular?
what???? You didn’t make any sense in your first part
A lot of classes’ elite are useless. It is a problem with Elite skills.
Ascended food LOL, this sounds so funny

ya, it is pretty obvious some people do have access to information prior to the release.
Ok, Warrior isn’t a top TPVP class. If you nerf a warrior speed, you will just see dead warriors everywhere. You can nerf the speed, but up its bunker build. Wait, that would turn Warrior into a Guardian, and you know how annoying is to fight a bunker build.
Oh btw, I am using zerker Warrior with skills set to mobility. However, I lose a lot of other utilities skill that can be quite useful for me in a fight. Therefore, I depends on raw weapon skill damage.
isn’t just two different name rings but with same stats?
awww… would a hug make you feel better?
you got too many things in que in TP, your gold doesn’t show up until you pick up the previous stuffs. Happened to me all of the time.
wait what? you craft it with one char, it is only useable for that one char?
Once you are level 500, your usage of wood and ori will drop significantly. It is not like you will need to level to 500 again and again.
To get to 450 you’ll need at least 250 Orichalcum ore. You can also get a few levels by refining ore into ingots as well.
that isn’t bad at all. 250 Oric ore isn’t much. Now, I just need to levevl my weaponsmith.
If the other mats are anything like this, I wouldn’t be too worried.
lol that’s hilarious… how many bags?
I suspect they will nerf it and screw anyone who doesn’t open in the next few hours…
Personally I ended up with 707 bloodstone dusts from a total of 79 bags.
that is a reasonable amount then, not much of grind. How’s Dragonites?
Dragonites are time gated. You only get them once per day per location. From:
-Temple of Orr Chests
-World Boss Chests
-WvWvW Keeps and CastlesGod 8 Dragonite Ore from the Stonemist Lord.
so they drop in batches huh? Not so bad, not so bad at all.
Sorry that your speculation did not turn out so well.
so about 1 gold per dark matter based on the pre patch price
If the other mats are anything like this, I wouldn’t be too worried.

15 Orich ingot = 30 Orich Ore PER 1 Ascended weapon. (You have what? 2 weeks to get that? One node give you 3 already, it takes you about one day for 30 orich ore?)
http://dulfy.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/gw2-ascended-greatsword-crafting-32.jpg
It looks like the new mats will be the grind. I guess after people abused the crap out of Orich ore for leveling crafting, then the price will come down.
Thief in wvw always carriers signet. Now it doesnt have to and has another utility slot for loosing 6% crit damage (30 power, 30 precision).
Thief is always about critical and backstab. It is that power to allow them to kill people off quickly to make them fearsome. I have a level 80 thief, I rather kill quickly and carry a signet than killer slower and use another (quite useless skills selection left, since I got all the stealth I need)
Looks like orich ore isn’t that important, and priced shoot through the roof.. LOL….
for Mesmer, not really thieves. Anyway, price will come down. Should sell it now.
Reality, it is really for Mesmer. Other runes are much better for PVP and WVW.
I am sorry for your investment, your speculation failed…
hahah jking, idk maybe it is updated or maybe it is not.
it will come down, everyone is rushing to level their crafting. Demand is temporary up right now.
It looks like ori ore is only used very sparingly
sorry but
Basic Salvage Kit: 88c – 25uses = 3.52copper each.
Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic: 3copper each800gems to save 0.52copper per salvage ?
Its an convenience item.
I salvaged over 8000 whites this week, having to run to the merchant every 25 salvages wont do for me. And if i buy 20 basic salvage kits at once i lose valuable bag space.
Also assuming that you need 100 essence of luck to get your account mf up 1% and the cap is 300%, thats 30k salvages to max it, if every salvage gives you 1 essence.
Thats 1200 basic salvage kits you need.
you don’t buy 20 kits !
buy 4 that is 1 dung run or 1 scarlet event of kitten drops to salvage
after that you go to la restock use mf and go back again >>
the problem is that f prise 800 gems >> to have your money return you have to play every single day and salvage 1 item per sec for 20 yearsSo how about the waypoint costs to go to LA to pick up another one?
I dont salvage the way you do. I salvage alot. I put buy orders for 50 different white items in over night. A stack each. Then I click for 30 minutes when i get back online.
For todays patch I have 10k blues and greens waiting on the TP for me to pick up and salvage. Do you think I run to the merchant, buy 7 stacks of salvage kits, run back to the TP, fill up my bags, salvage everything, then rinse and repeat?
I dont care how much that thing costs because from my profits i can buy 3 of those per day.
You go run dungeons or do invasions.
sure buddy, 10k of blue and greens.
for me, it is only for convenience. I like quality of life things
I would pay for convenience as well, but the part that bugs me is that I am losing resources by not spending the time to get the fine kits for instance and using those. With the insane prices that Orich ore is going to soar to, it seems strange to use a salvage kit that is less likely to return that component, no matter how convenient it is.
I have some lower level characters. I only have 3 level 80s.
Also, my current roughly 2000 gold earned in the last 2 months +, were not from salvaging…. I will use it just to get some profit and empty out of my inventory while I WVW.
