Raids made me play less

I think raid mechanics aren’t too bad but it feels really lazier than dungeons to me. In dungeons we’d used to have reflects, stability, stealth, vuln stacking, fury stacking and other things to pay attention to but nowadays all that is automatic or unused.

Sure the fight mechanics are alright but the profession mechanics … not really being fully utilized.

My 2c

My guardian buddy complained about those issues as well. He was really disappointed to no longer have the need for reflects, partywide stability, aegis, etc.

I am hoping to see some usuage of our fields. Something unique to the game so far like: Fire fields to light a fire, ice fields to freeze, lightning fields to electricute something, water fields to extinguish fire, etc.

All we can do is hope that we might have our wishes fullfilled in the second raid wing.

Why everyone keep complaining.......

I don’t get it I’m loving Hot I like the mastery system the new maps and new legendaries we can craft. The only thing I didn’t like was raids being hard core only ,world of warcraft realized they were making content that only a fraction of there player base was seeing and implemented lfr (looking for raid). Minus that little hic up I’m enjoying Hot and for what we get for no sub fee I don’t understand all the negativity ……….. Anet your doing fine keep up the good work just hope you guys at some point make raids a little more accessible to the masses.

I actually think the mass of players feels the same way you do. They enjoy Open World, the mastery system, crafting legendaries, the ( not calling this a negative thing ) more casual parts of the game. Pretty much most of the game. It is also a common thing to dislike raids for one reason or another across that group.

It works the other way around for a small part of the community. They don’t like Open World, mastery grind, HoT maps or just the more casual parts. PvP and PvE ( mostly raids ) balance is a huge issue to them. They only enjoy a small niche part of the game like raids or high level sPvP.
They simply got much more to complain about than your group does. It ends up being a combination of frustration and boredom.

Not that we haven’t had enough posts demonizing raids from the other side of the community. Complaining is what the internet was made for ( and porn, I guess).

Questions on condi ranger

Engineers are your best choice at VG. High condition damage, knock back, heal bomb, lots of CC, ranged damage, etc. Would be the only encounter where you see people specifically ask for engineers, though.
You can compare a condition druid to a PS warrior. The damage does not equal any of the top damage dealers (probably not even the average damage dealers). Still, the unique party buffs make up for that easily.

People want to have at least one of them in every raid and never more than two all together.

Hi,

RAIDS

I play a Druid in full Nomad’s gear. Why? Because that’s what I enjoy. I do crap for damage but I never die and that’s how I like playing every MMO I’ve ever played. No one wants~ a Nomad’s druid in the raid. It seems like a simple solution, right? Just change to a different gear set. That’s the problem. When I go to McDonald’s and order a cheeseburger they don’t refuse me service because I’m wearing a black t-shirt. They don’t only serve people in red t-shirts. The point is even if they did discriminate against my t-shirt color it’s totally within my right to tell them I don’t like wearing the color red. I just hate red. They still aren’t going to serve me though. And that’s wrong. That’s~ what Guild Wars 2 has going for me with the raid.

Interesting analogy… Let me have a go:

Seems like you intended to join a Formula 1 race driving your monster truck because that is what you enjoy. A car like that will be able to take on any terrain without any worry.
People don’t want to take you along, though. You simply lack the major requirement for the race: Speed. Well, and they actually want to win this race.
You could have decided to drive something like a nascar. Some hybrid car with good speed and the ability to take on difficult terrain to some degree. You refuse.

Does said race need to be changed?

or

Are you too inflexible to pick another car?
Are you too stubborn to pick another car?
Did you pick the wrong race?

Sell me on Warrior!

in Warrior

Henry.5713

There are some arguments which might sell you on warrior. Condition builds aren’t one of them, sadly.

Condition warrior is not the most effective of builds in Raids, Dungeons and Fractals. It is about average as far as condition condition builds go and below average compared to all of the meta damage builds.
Still, if you don’t mind something far from optimal and it works for you then go for it. You can use your guardian set on that warrior and just see how it goes. I wouldn’t advice you to invest too much gold, though.

Almost anything works in Open World PvE. Longbow does okey damage still and makes for a safe and “relaxing” playstyle.

There is only one warrior build that shines at the moment. The good old PS warrior in instanced PvE (and maybe the WvW burst rifle build).

Condi war was the most fun I’ve had in pve since launch and they gutted it. I understand the scorched earth nerf but they over nerfed it and didn’t buff sword or torch to make up for it

We haven’t had a breath of fresh air like that in years. The worst part was actually the removal of the necessity for proper positioning and field placement, to me.
The build lost most of it’s flavor because of that. That won’t change even if they buff the damage a little now.

Depends on your definition of the words “somewhat viable”.

It is essentially just a mediocre ranged DPS build with okeyish damage and banners. There is the added option to be in the condition group at VG.
Keep in mind that you might have trouble finding a spot in any raid (pug or even guild group) since it is far from optimal at taking any role. Not sure if it is worth to min/max it for that very reason.

Would finally free up utility slots for literally anything else.

About as likely as the baseline Fast Hands, though. Considering how many constructive ways to rebalance warriors we have seen posted here over the last few months and how little of a difference that made in the end.

We got this instead:

Warrior

We’ve taken a look at the warrior’s baseline abilities, adjusting cooldowns, damage, and in some cases even functionality. Our goal for this iteration is to give you a bit more to play with in a single weapon set so that the cooldowns feel more active and fun to play around with. Rifle has also seen a bit of a rework, gaining a more defensive nature while retaining its overall purpose of kill-shotting every enemy of Tyria. We’ll also be taking another pass at improving the berserker elite specialization, focusing on increasing its usability in various game modes and promoting more active skill use in trait design. Lastly, we’ll improve the warrior’s ability to sustain themselves in combat.

Delete them from Utility skills.

And instead add them as new Burst skills.

Example:

F3 Endure Pain
F4 Balanced Stance
F5 Berseker Stance

=====

  • These Burst skills can be balanced easily by making them a cooldown based skills or Adrenaline consuming skills or a mixture of both
  • You can put whatever Stance skill you desire in these 3 new F slots like (Frenzy, Defiant Stance)

Nope, that’s just stupid. That will make warriir OP. Warrior do not need a buff or anything. They are pretty strong atm. You just don’t know how to build them. Lol I got my kitten handed to me by a warriir harder than anymore I ve thought thus far. So learn to play the class dude.

Now that is a good joke. Doesn’t even matter if you are serious or not.

Have you ever fought against wilsonstorm? And btw I wasn’t joking we are pretty strong atm, what we are missing is synergy with our teammates.

Why wouldn’t you want to see this change if all we lack is team synergy? Changing warrior stances thus would free up three utilities slots. That makes room for other utilities which might actually synergize with your team.

And about the other part, asking me whether I fought Wilsonstorm as an indication for warrior balance is a bit amusing. Almost as amusing as you taking a duel against him as an indication.
And anyways, all I know about Wilsonstorm is that he has a stream. I take it you consider him one of the top warriors out there.
Then the question should be whether he ( or any top warrior ) fought other top players and how that ended.

But what you are proposing is not how it should be done. If anything this ideas of yours would make warrior OP.

There have been dozens of proposed buffs and changes to warriors over the months. Always leaving the option to rebalance and readjust the exact numbers should it proof as too powerful.
Yet, if you are already of the opinion that warriors are perfectly fine, rather strong even and are so quick to throw around the “OP” once small buffs are considered then why even bother to ask in the first place?

But since you did, one or two of these (yes, I don’t mean all of them at once):

- rebalance the trait value and placement
- rebalance some weapon skills and most burst skills
- rebalance some utility skills
- add an elite shout or stance

or the more drastic:

- Stance rework
- Adrenalin rework
- Third weapon set
- Weapon rework

Anyways, we can just agree to disagree. That is how it started and that is how it will end even if we continue for another hundred pages.

The recent balance patch wasn’t kind to the warrior build diversity. You will indeed be playing PS warrior in high level raids or in record attempts.
The nerf to condition berserker pretty much moved that build into a “bring only if you got nothing better” spot.
If that wasn’t enough, revenants are far less effective when stacked now. It means that you will be using PS warriors for the might once again.
There are also your unique damage modifiers (banners, EA) which just add even more to an already good build.

We seem to be back to one viable build only.

ascended stuff is a mess

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Henry.5713

Henry.5713

Fractals require one set for low level a different set for high level. Up until HoT Ascended stuff wasn’t absolutely needed, now we need multiple sets AND crafting it is WAY more expensive?

I don’t even have one set of armor (I saved mats mistakenly thinking that the meta might change with HoT, instead it got more complicated and more expensive).

WvW ascended rewards are terrible… I played that mostly over the last 2 years. So now I can craft a good set of ascended for everything except high level fractals, or I can craft a good set of that, and crappy for everything else. OR I can craft a mediocre set to do everything. Honestly, at 600-800g per armor set, how many sets am I expected to craft for one of my toons in order to play all of the content in this game…..

With the advent of HoT the new fractal instabilities and raid, ascended stuff should have changable stats, but of course that would lessen the value of the stupid expensive legendary weapons and so far non-existant armor. Anet just doesn’t want me to keep playing this game, clearly.

What is there left to say that people haven’t already mentioned.
One does not require ascended gear to do WvW. One does not require ascended armor to do low level fractals. One can do 1-100 fractals running the same gear. One does not even need ascended armor for raids.

Might have gotten the wrong impression here, but isn’t this simply about you not being able to min/max your character perfectly over multiple game modes with just a single set?

Raid Timers lazy way to increase diffuclty

Why are raids designed backwards?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Henry.5713

Henry.5713

An interesting question. You have to be careful when you try to bring real life logic into the game like that, though. It is a question of how far you can actually go with “smart” AI until it simply stops being fun.

Designing raid bosses to do the following things wouldn’t be a problem:

- Target the healer first
- Target the squishies first ( if healers are too tanky like in this game )
- Move randomly or even move into the dangerous areas on purpose ( Wrong wall at Gorseval, or damaging area at VG )
- Avoid player AoE circles ( they wouldn’t have had to nerf burnzerkers then lol )
- Mix up skill rotations or even use the most dangerous attack only
- etc.

And my favorite:

- Have all of the bosses gank up on you if the players look too strong

Doesn’t that sound exactly how a “smart” AI would act?
On a serious note… All of these “realistic behaviours” sound really gimmicky. Something you’d want to torture yourself with for some achievement. The boss targeting the healer first would already make most raids in most games almost impossible.
Some games even have a mechanic that let’s a player take over bosses. Those games would need to be balanced quite different, though. Having a raid boss that acted even close to a smart human mind simply doesn’t work here.

Going with the highest toughness as your only source of threat was just a simple way to give the raid group the much needed control over VG and Gorseval ( doesn’t apply to Sebetha ). This person can run ahead and take some hits while others focus on green circles or taking down walls. It works surprisingly well.

Also, others have already pointed out ways to abuse the target “lowest toughness first” system. Have everyone use one more toughness then the tank. Use someone who is naturally ( not depending on toughness) tanky as your “tank”.

Games are still games at the end of the day.

Scorched Earth: only once every 0.5 seconds

in Warrior

Posted by: Henry.5713

Henry.5713

Something isn’t an ‘exploit’ merely because you don’t like it. The functionality on Scorched Earth was working PRECISELY the same way it did in the preview for Berserker this summer. Now, they’ve removed functionality from something that didn’t need touching (because there’s about a billion modifiers you could change and get the same result) and warrior will be back to having one viable weapon set in PvE. I’ve only spent the last 2 years playing nothing but greatsword, so hooray for the return of that.

Also, we’re talking about an exploit. An exploit can be a bug. A bug can be an exploit. But an exploit is not necessarily a bug. The fact that it’s “working” or “is still the same as it was in beta” is not indicative of whether it’s an exploit or not.

They have talked about how the skilled warrior would be able to place an enemy in between two fields for double damage. They fully intended the skill to work exactly the way it did.
The damage itself simply turned out to be way higher than they ever expected thus the need to reduce it to some degree.
It might almost have been a pride thing since people were able to easily break their “hard challenging” content like Gorseval.

And the condition damage is indeed below average now if you take engineers as your average. They will move from a must have to an only bring when no other option.

DPS meter [Merged]

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Henry.5713

Henry.5713

I wonder how many of these opinions are completely based on one bad experience, the bad experiences of others or even the prejudices about those mean elitists raiders who will always kick anyone who isn’t perfect and never forget to call them “newbs”.

(…)

This is generally how things happen in other games when things “go wrong”:

Leader – “Okay, tonight was a little rough, we need everyone to be at least at 10k DPS by next raid or we’ll have to start replacing people with those that can do it”

—next night—

Leader – “Okay Jonny and Sarah you are both sitting at 5k DPS unfortunately that doesn’t cut it for this type of content, we are going to have to replace you tonight. We can talk after the raid to see if we can get your damage up to where it needs to be”

Now lets look at a very real example of what happens in GW2 when things aren’t going right:

Leader – “Guys last attempt we were at 5:45 when the Vale Guardian split. We need to have much better damage if we are going to hit the enrage timer. Make sure you are using the best gear, food and utilities possible and optimizing your rotation.”

4-5 attempts later

Leader – “We are still consistently below the 6 minute mark when the Guardian splits. What’s going on? Why is our DPS not where it should be?”

crickets

No one knows. No one has any idea who’s pulling their weight and who’s not. It’s a complete crap shoot.

There’s a couple things the RL could do at this point:

1. Have everyone link him their gear. This would require some extensive knowledge of almost every profession and what their best build is (Or even viable builds, many professions have multiple raid viable builds). It would require them to start discriminating based on gear. They may end up dropping their most valuable player simply because he has a few less than optimal pieces of gear. It’d also take hours to figure out where the problems are.

2. Continue attempting without really changing anything and hope people magically get better (generally they won’t). If things don’t improve people will stop having fun and stop showing up, usually the first ones to go are the ones who are actually the best players.

Neither of these are good options. It’s unlikely you’ll find the problem with either and it’s unlikely you’ll be able to get past this hurdle either because you simply don’t have the information available to make an informed decision. Damage meter would make this a fairly simple decision. Sure, one maybe two people might get their feelings a little hurt, but you won’t have 10 people frustrated and getting burnt out.

TL;DR – Part of teamwork and cooperation is accountability and without tools like damage meters leaders can only make guesses at who’s doing their job and who’s not.

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

Have seen the “crickets” thing happen so often in this game. You end up pointing out that DPS is pretty low as a whole because you don’t want to hurt any feelings and of course nobody owns up or even knows he is the one.

It might just be the true accountability that some people seem to oppose. People might actually have to start respecting LFG requirements then… I have been asking for a LFG tool that let you set specific requirements which will block some players from joining but you can imagine how people hated that idea.

Ascended armor requierment for raids

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Henry.5713

Henry.5713

It is not required to have a group in ascended gear to do the raid but it is greatly advised unless you can expect almost perfect play.
Pugs or those who still have trouble with some content go by the rule of bringing as few variables as possible. That is why they will take the safer approach with their gear, food, composition, player experience and strategy.
The miniscule improvements like ascended over exotic and max food over low level food or none make a much bigger difference once you multiply those stats by ten people.
You can kind of understand why people want to have the best gear and the best food possible from everyone in their group once you have seen Gorseval drop to your conditions 2-3secs after everyone whiped.

A lot of the complaining seems to come from those who are upset that they got excluded for various reasons even if those reasons make sense…

There is some luck involved with spawns on that boss. It is a matter of your speed still. We rarely see it happen anymore. A couple of things you could try to work on:

1. Have enough CC amongst the people not doing the green circle since those might end up leaving at the worst moment
2. Try to dodge the blue fields right before the CC phase
3. Try to time your pulling even if you have to move into a glowing area for a few secs as the tank
4. Know when and where CC phases happen
5. Don’t panic if the green fields spawn in the old area, have War Banner and Rebound at the ready and of course just healing in general

Best DPS Sigil for Gs?

in Warrior

Posted by: Henry.5713

Henry.5713

High level PvE (as in raids) uses Force + Air for the maximum damage output.

If you are simply aiming to have high damage then replace Strength with Force. The flat 5% damage boost is not based on your luck or even completely pointless when you are already at 25 might (let’s say from might stacking allies) unlike sigil of Strength.
Also, not the biggest fan of Bloodlust myself. You rely heavily on having at least 15 stacks to compete with other sigil choices like Air or Force. Those aren’t as situational, though.
The more powerful second sigil choices like Nightmare (10% damage) or any monster type slaying sigil (also 10% damage) make it pretty obsolete in PvE.

I’d go with Force + Air for WvW. The only options I’d take over Force are Leeching or Hydromancy but those don’t do much in PvE nor focus on damage.

difficulty of the first raid wing ?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Henry.5713

Henry.5713

There are quite a few reasons to continue with the raid after you have completed the first wing.

I’d say you want to get to the point where you can always complete the first wing in one go so you can actually focus on attempting the second wing. This takes a bit of time even if you have killed all of the bosses already.

There is also the social aspect of a steady raid group. Managing a group of ten or more players to attempt challenging but also rewarding (not talking about loot here) content. It was the first time in ages that I enjoyed playing PvE and improving personally but also as a team.
And you can always help those who have yet to finish the raid by brinding them along or giving them advice on how to do certain parts.

If you like setting yourself your own challenges. Try stuff like the recent “10 guardians”, do gorseval without any of the updrafts, play with nine or eight players, etc.

Also, the rewards aren’t even that bad when you get to the point where you do the full raid in an hour. Not to mention the possibility to drop a ghostly infusion.

+100 Power

+50 Power
+15% Might Duration 25% chance when struck to gain Might for 5s. (Cooldown: 5s)
+100 Power
+20% Might Duration +5% damage while under the effects of Might.

Honestly, to me the choice is pretty obvious considering how Strength runes are the way to go in PvE as well.
They are equal to or even better than Pack runes in WvW. Unless you run anything that justifies dropping +45% might duration as well as the pretty much permanent +5% damage boost as a berserk warrior. The +125 precision (even with Blood Reaction) and the limited boons do not come close to that.

We’ll see how raids will work out in the long run. They might end up being abandoned just like the last instanced content that was supposed to be challenging, competative and most of all not there as something almost everyone can farm easily.

well thats a good news . but about number 7 wouldnt it be nice that we know who done more damage and least damage on bosses in dungeons and world bosses or even pvp ?

The game is not supposed to be about numbers. It is supposed to be about playing together, playing the way you want. You know… friendship, unicorns, rainbows and all of the good stuff.

Well done. You proved two things with this attempt:

1. That those who believe you have to have a certain meta party to ever beat any boss in the raid are wrong.

2. That those who think the raid is possible with any group but easier and more efficient with certain compositions are right.

They do have skill balance splitting tech for like 2 years now. Why the hell don’t they use it? I don’t even play PvP anymore. I want to raid but I can’t because my prof is a garbage!!!

this!!!!
i know that balancing pvp is hard we get it
but balancing pve is so kittening easy my labrador can do it

And how would you balance the classes if it’s so easy? Exactly what would you do?

Give classes unique party buffs so that even if it does a bit less damage you would rather bring for example a warr a thief and a herald(good $.#) instead of 3 heralds hurr rdurrrrr(bad .)
every mmo since the dawn of time does that to avoid class stacking

How’s that “balanced”?

every class will be wanted and stacking wont be optimal durrrrrr
is it that faking hard to comprehend?
it will solve the pve issue

It won’t. Of everything that those classes uniquely provide, people will determine which are the most optimal to have and then form a meta around that. Classes will still be “excluded”. There will still be an imbalance.

it will.
because it should create an environment where the optinal 10 man raid has 1 of each class in it
4 faks sake wow has done this for years

One does not even have to play WoW to know that that is bullkitten.

Even if every class was (seriously) completely equal at taking every role possible then pugs would still find a reason or two to exclude someone based on their class.

Whether something works or not is completely based on your own opinion. The number of players who actually tried everything before passing final judgement is probably made up off 0,01% of the entire population.

This is one of the best class balances we have had in PvE in my entire time playing this game. Raids can be completed with any class running at least one (of usually two or even three different) builds.
You can do the entire thing in an hour without the current most wanted meta builds. We have seen guardian, mesmer, warrior, engineer, druid and tempest tanks. We have seen parties with up to six of each class or none of them. We seen healing druids, healing guardians, healing warriors, healing tempests.
What it comes down to is that some compositions are or just appear to be easier than others.

Pretty sure bunker guardian will be around again just not the immortal pre-celestial meta version that people remember. It is still one of the best builds at tanking burst while still maintaining team support.

The removal of all of those hybrid condition amulets is going to do way more for the warrior than any of the small buffs.
There will be a new meta with power builds which focus around negating damage through blocks, blinds, stealth, blinks, aegis, invulnerability and dodges. Actually, it might not even do that much to make warriors viable again.

Blade n Soul a threat to GW2?

Henry.5713

It is a niche korean game with an asian theme. That alone means that it will draw in a lot less western players than GW2 with it’s midieval theme.
Also, a rather unique game (just like Guild Wars 2). Comparing these two is like comparing GW2 with WoW.

The old school questing and grinding as well as the open world PvP would probably turn off many GW2 players. There aren’t any event chains you can do with a huge group of players either.

You don’t wear armor. Just costumes you put on for the looks.
Stats come from your weapon, trinkets and your tablets (like a talisman with 8 pieces for the stats and set bonuses).

Don’t think the game is something the majority of players would leave their game for. It is just too (hard to find the right word) “korean”.

PS: It is nice to see a skill based combat system that is not all about huge cleave and huge aoe so people actually hit something. Some recent action combat games have gone way too crazy with that, totally removing the point of aiming and positioning.

It is not any more imbalanced than the difference in damage, defense, support or mobility depending on which class or build you play.

Some meta builds are just better at CC than others. Any class can bring quite a bit of it if they move outside of the current meta, though.

Outfits trend... Are players happy about it?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Henry.5713

Henry.5713

Outfits should be more rare and special. They should be based on the seasons or events. The Halloween outfit is a good example for that.

Anything else doesn’t really work for me. I end up getting bored quickly with most outfits. There are always pieces I don’t like (usually the helmets).
Would probably end up buying most of them if they were armor sets. Sometimes just for one or two of the pieces. Great armor customization and a great dye system have always been a good selling point.

2.) Having one or even multiple condition warriors is an easy way to max damage and still clear orbs. They should damage both Gorseval and any orbs in close or medium range with their aoe fields.
You can do it easily by untargeting Gorseval, moving into position to aim at the orb and have Gorseval on you or inbetween. It is much easier than it sounds if you get used to it.

Dear diary, today i saw how much the nearsight of the players can get.

People asking for more slots so they can trade gear between characters. Too bad that not only the potential 6 professions of your account would not like to see the armored gear of the other 3 but also that the gear is soulbound on equip, making the operation impossible even with a bank.

Got 6 ascended sets (3 heavy, 1 medium, 2 light), multiple legendaries and more ascended trinkets and weapons than I can count. All of that is account bound.
Not as nearsighted of a request as you might think. Also, hardly the only one with an overload of gear like that.

700 gems per slot is completely crazily overpriced!

300 gems would be kind of fair.

700 gems, for 1 slot that makes an item available to ALL characters on the account,,, overpriced?

My husband and I bought the 5 slots, each, and the price didn’t even phase us… Spent 35 dollars for gems to get that convenience on your account is NOT a lot of money and hardly would I consider it to be overpriced. I can promise you, it’s likely that over 50% of this game’s population has spent a lot more money for a lot less (myself included)

You either buy it, or you don’t. Period.

It is not about any number here. It is about ArenaNet charging such a high price for such a tiny QoL improvement. It could have been an awesome idea if it had many slots at a reasonable price. I’d gadly pay much more than $7 if it was actually worth my while and not just a quick money grab.
The supportive nature a customer might have will quickly disappear if you make him feel that you only care about your revenue.

It is a good idea. I don’t agree with the high price or the the tiny number of slots, though. A normal inventory slot costs you 40 gems if you use 20 slot bags (800gems/bag). Which means the shared slots are 17.5 times more expensive than the normal ones.

It is worth it’s price (and it’s position in the inventory), but only for a few items:

  • copper/silver-salvage-o-mat 800 gems for the item to have it on 1 char, 700 gems more to have it on all chars
  • permanent bank access (3000 gold to have it 130 gold more to have it on all chars).
  • home-instance/friend-teleport

That is the major problem I have with this. It is actually worth the price only to a limited amount of players using a very limited amount of items.
It could have been something half of the population bought (even multiple times) if they made it like I suggested or anything similar.

Would have expected something along the lines of an account wide bag slot for twice the normal price. Many of us would have bought one or two of those. The convenience of using potions, swapping gear, game items, toys, tonics, etc.

It is rather disappointing to see us progress towards a F2P game with cash shop prices such as these even though the game is actually B2P at it’s core.
This no longer seems to be the game that made dyes (when we already had one of the best dye systems I have seen) account wide as a convenience for their players.

The same old story and approach.

We could have gotten something that builds up upon the already active and reactive base warrior…
They seem to be sticking to the idea that warrior is the easiest and also the beginner class, instead.

Does anyone else feel like people will still use Fast Hands even if we get a major CD reduction to our weapon skills? Some of which do indeed feel like they are from an acient time when strong skills were either single target or had a huge CD.

Raids: 7 weeks later

The raids turned out to be much better than I expected. With Gorseval being my favorite so far.

+Finally some content that requires everyone to pull their weight (well mostly)
+The use of mechanics like gliding, pulling of the bosses, splitting up
+Decent level of overall difficulty which requires some dedication and practice to complete the raid easily
+The need to use conditions, toughness gear, some healing, boon rip
+A timer that isn’t too harsh but won’t let people play in fully defensive gear not making the raid a joke (still leaving you some room for toughness and healing, though)
+A decent level of balance amongst all classes (even if some are at an advantage)

-Low rewards not based on the effort they take
-Too short once you get to the point where you clear everything on the first try
-Hiding the already low rewards behind a weekly system
-The lack of a LFG strictly for raids
-The absence of possible difficulty levels (higher timer for example)
-Should have more achievements based around the boss fights instead of the ones on the way

It is a good start. They included a lot of stuff that makes GW2 unique. I seem to be one of the few players who actually like the timer and the need to go mostly offensive, as well.

Never understood why people complain about the lack of freedom to play what they like. You can still play as a tank or healer for the most part. It is simply harder to get any spot other than as a straight DPS if you want to raid.
Games always seem to have had way more variety when you look back in a nostalgic mood. Even though, they quite often come down to 5% tanks, 5% healers, 90% damage dealers just like this one.

The first warrior balance change that we will see is a nerf to Gun Flame.
I’d almost bet my life on that.

Tbh it deserved a nerf as there is basically no tell for it (for me it looks like regular attack but then again..i have predator). But rifle as a whole needs buff. Feels weird that gunflame hits harder than killshot tho

It is too strong, I agree. Even from the point of view of a class that has nothing else going for it apart from a powerful burst skill.

One thing ArenaNet has always been quick about is nerfing a “new build” that comes into play. Even if that build is a one trick pony which isn’t very versatile, easy to counter or just situational.
Think about Rampage warrior. It disappeared as quickly as it came and the nerf wouldn’t even have been needed for that.

Would be nice to see great weaknesses adressed as quickly as great strengths are.

Would be interesting to see something designed around our fields. Most of them don’t even have a good use in PvE. I’d much rather have our skills or abilities play a main role than gaining an object you have to use quickly (bombs during the sebetha fight for example).

Situations that would require you to use certain fields for their properties:
-Fire fields to burn an object or to light a fire
-Water fields to extinguish a fire
-Lightning field to electrify something
-Light field to damage some undead object
-Ice field to freeze something

The only downside is the imbalance between the amount of fields classes have. Still sounds interesting to me.
