i’m talking with Food obviously… but without you only get 650 condi dmg either… 1.1 on S/t but you lose power and ferocity on that.
with guard stacks and mango pie i get ~20k hp which is totally fine for me. and refined Toxins works seperate for pet and ranger so pet swap -> attack inflicts poison anyways.

Call me Stupid but 2266-2192 = 74 so… not 150 power, and because of a Minimum of 3 (mostly 5 tho) boons up it’s 2192*1.03= 2257 effective power Minimum…
And you clearly underestimate Protective Warden, it’s a really really strong trait, 33% prtection and Weakness uptime. and 200 armor is a bigger difference than you might think.
Taunt is great… Interrupts blocks (and thus guard shelter -)

This rune saved me SO MANY TIMES (ty Sae ^-^) it’s totally worth it.

And honestly… People that are stupid enough to STAY in bonfire deserve to die…
Axe offhand is fine (except the not able to mve part on WD obviously), PoS is either a good hit with a pull or a dodge bait, i don’t know what you are doing with it that it kills you tbh :> i’m doing just fine wih it. I mean of course WD is situational but it definatly has it’s uses and you shouldn’t cast it just cause it is off CD…. that will get you killed probably.
And by all means, your build is the more offensive, that’s for sure, but don’t even try to argue that your build is able to take more than mine does because that’s just not true

this build is neither glassy (nearly 3k armor and lots of protection + 250 hp/sec reg) NM/BM/WS offer a lot of survivability on their own (try it, your build will feel squishy as hell in comparison :P), nor do i try to get in “some conditions”, it’s a pure power build. it’s just refined Toxins to reduce my enemies healing .

The last patch just nerf the ranger so bad that now i don’t even try to go to wvw anymore. Unless you play pewpew from 1500 and run as soon as someone notices you you won’t stand a chance. Also forget to get any kill, you will be lucky if you can finish a downed player without stomping.

You serious? If there is anything ranger really excells at, it’s WvW roaming / dueling…
I mean… you can basically play 1-handed and still win most duels and it’s actually quite easy to just run from an heavily outnumbered situation (given you are Aware of People coming, you won’t run from a 5 man gank… noone would)… We may not bring much to a team or anything… but if we can do anything, then it is suriving on our own in WvW.

Solo roaming/1v1ing is all about individual skill… any class can beat another class so long as they are adequately skilled. (not just mechanical skills, but knowledge)

Most classes can WvW roam just fine so this example is not good… every class has the tools to escape and make it alive out of outnumbered scenarios if they know what they are doing… except necros lol (dat mobility is junk)

I fully agree and also i explained myself very poorly.
What i exactly meant was that WvW is not only about running like chicken, wee need to get some players kills. With this class is impossible if both players has the same skill level. Talking about 1v1 our class is outperformed in any way for any of the others.

The only weapon that provides us with some mobility is the GS and that one is an utility weapon that do little DPS. Maul is just a joke how slow it is with such a telegraphed animation for the little damage it does. And ranger it is not a class that can stand for long in a melee combat.
So WvW you are stuck with LB/GS combination and that it is really boring to have only one choice

because when you cast RF something happens instant (just like guard shelter, when you self interrupt it it goes on full CD because something happens DURING the channel)

Nope, no Dolyak rune, almost 100% sure it’s Mango Pie since Dolyak rune is only 44 hp/sec and he regenerates 88 (instead of 85/sec which is caused by the WvW healing Bonus i’d say)

The Way i see it, you don’t really get enough fury to do enough damage with this build.
I’d suggest something like this if you want a remorseless focused build.

Looking at the posting history, Sevans hasn’t been on the boards for the last 10 days.

depending on how that marksman adept trait works on pet swap (is it combat only or outside of combat) I could potentially drop rune of speed. If that was the case I would run something like 20 in marksman (for moment) 30 wilderness and 20 beast and use the Asura daze with perplex runes

Oh. You can’t just drop 20 points into a traitline after the June 23rd patch. You HAVE to go balls deep 30 points into a traitline. However, you get to pick 3 entire traitlines (so like getting 90 trait points instead of 70). Uhhh I’m not doing a good job explaining this.

You also don’t get any stats (power, precision, etc) from traitlines anymore. They’re increasing gear stats by ~30%.

I though i was the only one (that i needed more L2P) but i see there is more ppl that struggle really hard when is 1 vs 2. Mostly because lack of sustain (1 mild heal every 30 secs is not enough with our lack of mobility).

I see you use the HS but did you try HaO? in my experience HS is good when using ranged (LB) because allow you to stay a little bit longer in the regen area, when in melee you need insta heal, HaO will heal you and your pet and is 20 secs CD.
The long cast really kill it, but is all about timing, and i see you are very good with that one.

LR i would exchange it for SoR. Most conditions will not be very annoying if you can keep the passive, and you have the active in case of hard choices.
You needed for mobility i would exchange the runes for traveller and the SoH for LR.
You would loose some power but i think you would gain in survivability.

About to keep this build when the new traits comes out, don’t worry there are far better choices that we have now.

Actually HS works best with a full Melee build since you can leap it 3 times, twice if you start and end Swoop inside HS and once with Monarch’s leap so 4k extra hp and you have at least something to cleanse conditions than SoR.

1 Thing you can change pretty easily to avoid alot of damage from p/d thiefs is just throwing in a Sigil of Cleansing on every weapon set, you’ll lose a tiny tad of damage that’s for sure, but since p/d thiefs do their main damage through bleeding, and probably confusion if perplex a sigil of cleansing could actually do the trick for you.

If you don’t want to do that it’s just like Xtinct sais. when you see pistol stealth attack let yourself get hit by the first 1-2 shots then dodge or GS block. they are revealed and you only have 1 or 2 stacks of bleeding on you instead of 5 because you panic dodged too much before.
Oh, and you could probably just use food. -%condi duration

Hmm… Depending on Anets view on Druids I can see us getting Meditations or Venoms probably.

The thing with Counterattack, is that you can block unlimited projectiles for the duration and get 2s of regeneration for each The rune gives 2s not 1s on block.

i know i know, i DO abuse this when i go full melee but as it stands GS wasted the heal too often for me and the defense as well as the offense GS provides is way to slow imo(you ain’t gonna do kitten vs evasive builds using GS… or at least i don’t). I feel alot safer using sd vs nearly every profession i encounter… it’s probably my playstyle that costs me so many Procs of defender rune when i play GS, but as it is i perform WAY better using sd and relying on the Aegis block of the rune for the extra heal.
That’s probably only for me tho. I’m sure a lot of people will get better results using GS because they use it better than i do.

You can definetly use GS instead of SD, but for me, just too many heals of the Defender runes were wasted to a GS block so i went back to sd.

Defender runes work when you block, but you have no way to block.

Am I missing something?

You also gain Aegis on heal from the Defender Runes and i personally never felt the need for more blocks to trigger the rune =)

This is probably what i would run for a hybrid build if i weren’t to lazy to get Sinister stats ( May seems like a weird stat spread but there is this voice in me that says: “2k Power without guard stacks! Bloodlust is ok tho. Oh and don’t Forget you NEED a bleed tick of at least 100. WITH guard stacks this time! >:( . I dare you not to get there.” So yeah… that’s what i’d run
For OOC Mobility you can swap in Warhorn, will leave you with only bou 5sec swiftness downtime. And you can of course swap out SoR with SoS and all that personal Preference stuff in the traits

My current set up for solo roaming, although it’s kinda slow ooc, the in fight mobility is great and the Defender runes are an incredible boost to sustain. (I know that GS would probably work better, but it just feels so slow and a good amount of Block heals just go to nowhere because you block for defensive purposes at max health, for example rapidfire or BS so i found my self to be better off with good old s/d).
Thanks to SotF and SoR it offers enough Condi removal, and thanks to Nature’s Protection and Protection at Dodge (and the sheer amount of dodges of course) power builds are not too much of a problem as well.

Traits and gear are pretty much optimized for my playstyle though, gave it to a couple friends and they didn’t have much success with it because they just copy pasted but have a different view on how to play ranger

I think Natures Protection factors in the Protection before you take damage (can’t explain quite a few laughable BS from full zerk thiefs otherwise to be honest. ~4-5k with only 2,7k armor does not sound right).

HoM Trophies have been deactivated until they fix the bug where Players got the HoM titles without ever Playing Guild Wars 1, so they can’t abuse it

Since the Signets affect ranger without traitng most People use SotH for Melee ranger.

If you don’t want to do that you can still do the same thing Mesmers do,
use Rune of the Centaur, buy an Endless Tonic and use the fact that the Transform back counts as a heal. If it’s not for Permanent Swiftness you can equip Warhorn from time to time… Can’t think of any other way…beside +25% Movement runes of course.

Nope, it’s not a PvP nerf it’s a PvE buff that does not carry over into WvW =)

Wah! You guys are making me sad. I enjoy PU Mes when I’ve played so far – but are there other solid condition builds that aren’t quite so “frustrating” like you said?

Any input from a Mesmer that runs PU in WvW? Do you find this is true? That you mostly just have people running from you….?

Whenever you fight a PU, and get the feeling that he has an idea of what he’s doing you can just see how it goes, and when you feel the need to disengage it’s easy to do so as long as you can manage to cleanse the torment

stacking hp/toughness when you are likely playing a lot at range is just silly and promotes lazy defensive skills.

In outnumbered Situations “lazy” defenses can come in kinda Handy especially vs 2 heavy cc specs or this modern dire stuff :> or 3+ of anything else
