Before it gave just the gloves, then they changed it in a recent patch:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-June-14-2016

The Silverwastes WvW reward track Carapace Armor Box now contains all pieces of Carapace armor instead of just the gloves.

Either way it’s not repeatable and those who completed the track cannot receive the changed reward.

A couple weeks ago the silverwastes reward track for both pvp and wvw was changed to award a full Carapace armor set, however it is not a repeatable track. Before it only gave the glove box. Those who did it before are now stuck without the full reward.

Can this oversight be corrected by either modifying the reward track to be repeatable or by resetting it for those who have already completed it?

Rune of Lyssa turns 5 conditions into boons. They’re basically helping you.

Not everyone run “instant” low cool-down elite skill. 45 sec CD on Lyssa don’t help much.

Maybe it’s just an issue of imagination. People make a build and think it’s fantastic, then get upset because they die. Rather thank try to resolve the weaknesses in their build they blame the system where counters exist.

45 seconds is a long time, but how long do spvp fights last? You can down people in a few seconds with concentrated fire.

If there was a little imagination on how to negate the effects of conditions and conditions stopped being so strong, people would run fewer condition builds.

2 sigils remove conditions. 2 runes remove conditions. 1 rune reduces condition duration. And this is before traits or utilities.

Anything you do in the game that provides a reward that is gold

Yes.

or can be converted into gold causes inflation, unless you simply throw the reward away, but who does that.
MMOs have an infinite money supply so inflation is natural.

No. Selling something for gold doesn’t generate gold. The trading post takes a 15% tax. The money to buy something from the trading post had to come from somewhere. Wood planks NPC for a lot less than the trading post.

2 gold for dailies-- did it work?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hesacon.8735

Hesacon.8735

Everyone wants to link the inflation to the 2G from dailies but 2G really isn’t that much. Yes it does add up but most people will blow it on waypoint jumps and such. It’s really just an incentive to get people to do different stuff in the game. There are much quicker ways to make money like farming for trees/mineral nodes, opening airship cargo or one of the quickest ways, farming for karka shells.

Prices jumped on mid-level wood when people started working towards the new legendaries. It was about the time they added new stuff to the gem store that everyone wanted so people started converting their gold to gems.

Going one edge of the map to the other is 5-6 silver, waypoints aren’t going to eat into 2g unless you’re trying to solo treks for guild missions.

2 gold as a one-time thing would have no impact. 2 gold every single day adds up over weeks and months.

People who have more money are going to buy more things including those legendaries as demand has increased. Because demand increased for a finite supply, prices go up.

Elder wood planks take 3 logs, or about 1 tree each and sell for ~8 silver. It would take 25 trees to equal the daily gold, and the dailies are often quicker to do. You can also often farm trees while doing dailies, so you can double dip.

Either way, farming materials adds no gold to the economy, and that’s what people seem to miss. The money from the trading post has to come from somewhere.

If by worked you mean caused inflation, then yes, working splendidly.

2g for dailies causes less inflation than a single run through t4 fractals. Quit being an alarmist.

… that’s not how inflation works. Inflation is caused when everyone is able to buy more, but the supply to buy doesn’t increase at the same rate. Only a tiny percent of the playerbase can even beat T1 fractals, much less T2, T3, or T4.

Tier 1 Fractals are basically very short dungeons. You don’t need any agony resistance or ascended equipment to do them and the mechanics are no more complicated than you’ll find in the rest of the game. I’d be very surprised if ‘only a tiny percentage of the playerbase’ can beat them. In fact I’d say it’s probably the opposite, that only a very small number would be unable to beat them.

I think the better question is how many people are actually doing them, which I imagine is a single-digit percentage of the population. The T4 population is a smaller subset of that.

It took me several hours to find dungeon parties to collect the dungeon currency required for the gift.

If one were to do the collections for the precursors (instead of buying them), it would take longer than the wvw rewards track.

I dunno, it’s just one more long thing for a weapon that is no better than an ascended weapon.

The real issue is the loot on the gift of battle rewards track is pretty lousy relative to other tracks.

My issue with the reward tracks

I think just boosting the delay timer for participation would be enough. Instead of allowing you to afk 10 minutes at spawn, drop it down to 3 minutes before it starts to decay and 5 minutes for it to fully decay.

It takes longer than that to run across a borderlands map, alpine or desert.

Hesacon.8735

They should just allow you continue to collect reward track points outside of WvW maps (with the contribution decay in place still of course).

This.

You know… the big light finally just came on… Yes.. ANet has now made it so that you get rewards for simply being IN WvW… you don’t even have to do anything other than move once in a while to keep from being booted by the timer. omg that is sooooo not well thought out! Getting the goodies via the good ol’ WORK in WvW and NOT time spent makes a lot more sense, prevents abuse, and ensures that the people in WvW are actually doing something useful.

ANet if you are reading this thread… PLEASE reconsider this very poor way of rewarding people for doing nothing.

Then you get into the debate of k-trains vs. roaming vs. scouting/defending. Right now k-trains give way more wvw exp (which also gives loot), whereas roaming gives less and scouting almost nothing. Having two rewards systems that both operate the same way is silly.

The rewards tracks gets around the disadvantage to scouting or defending by allowing commanders to delegate participation to those willing to hug siege and watch for movement.

I don’t think 500 is a hard coded limit, so there should be no technical reason why it couldn’t be expanded. Even if it costed 1000 gold to upgrade, that’s a 500-person guild’s daily 2 gold acquisition.

The limit may be there for the guild panel navigation/ui. It may become laggy or something if it gets more in the roster.

But where is that limit? If it was exactly at 500 it would be quite the fluke of technology.

Nothing about this game is perfectly balanced. What matters is it’s close enough to be fun. Already if you’ve drawn Red, you have 3 towers that are really hard to defend, it’s easier to defend Blue or Green. Defending Bravost and defending Jerri are totally different things. Nobody has been clamoring for better balance in EBG because it’s close enough and it’s fun.

Having 3 Alpines with 2 of the maps with all the Keeps at T3 because nobody dares attack them isn’t fun.

if they give us 2 alpine maps and 1 desert, i bet this will more than proof of what a fail the desert maps were.

I am failing to see the logic in this conclusion. Please help me out.

With the simultaneous implementation, it is the best way to avoid the dbl altogether. If there is a rotation all the bl’s will be replaced by the dbl for 3 months at a time which could prove disastrous. At least with the 2abl/1dbl it is limited to one map and we get to keep alpine. The other problem is that a lot of of people also do not want dbl as their home map…really no winning with this map, its basically just a lesser of two evils vote, but then again aren’t all votes all that

Most people who enjoy DBL also enjoy Alpine. So they win by having variety.

Most people clamoring against DBL never played the upgraded version or are being stubborn. They win by getting to choose to play Alpine whenever they want.

So it’s a case of an outcome benefiting both sides.

I think adding them to Guild Halls is the best solution. Quick load times and the same convenience without the risk of filling up a borderland with non WvW players.

This. If they’re removed from wvw it’s a giant hassle. I haven’t been to a town in months, especially Lion’s Arch and it’s 5 minute load time vs. 10 seconds in wvw.

Or add them to Heart of the Mists. Or something. Crafting in town is such a giant loadfest. Waiting 5 minutes to craft a single thing is obnoxious.

No, not “this.” Promoting people to congregate in towns (and even LA) is an obvious intention of this change just as much as stopping people going to WvW who aren’t participating in WvW.

Putting crafting stations in Guild Halls will largely kill the towns, and towns are where people should want to (and need to) congregate…. it promotes a healthier player base by encouraging players to socialize…. especially new players.

~EW

They’ve done a bang up job at encouraging me to avoid towns like the plague because of the load times. Not a single one loads nearly at the rate of Wvw, sPvP, or the guild hall. I know it sounds hyperbolic, but it probably takes 5-10 times longer to load town maps.

I already had to abandon the sPvP league because I was consistently getting 8+ minute queues at peak hours.

Hesacon.8735

Still confuses me what all the discontent is with the DBL’s. “Most” of the people actually want them around according to the polls and most stuff I’m reading. Most of the issues with the DBL’s had been addressed and made them much easier to get around in. They are different and fun, imo. I still think the center of the DBL should be flattened out so it can be used as a battle ground.. THAT would be great!

What happened was the devs were a little ambitious in what they were trying to do any the DBLs were a lot more complicated than alpine when they first came out. People saw things like barricades and few paths to objectives as an impediment for both roamers and zergs who were looking for a fight.

The devs took this feedback and opened up the map, doubling or tripling the number of paths to an objective and making it much easier to get from A to B.

The issue is that people saw the original map and it wasn’t exactly what they wanted so they freaked out and shut themselves off from discussion. The changes made to DBL before switching to alpine made them very playable and they were being used similarly to how much alpine is used now before the switch.

So at the end of the day the majority of the vocal minority who scream bloody murder about DBL have not tried out the newer version of DBL.

I see the appeal of alpine and all, but two of the keeps you can catapult both walls with the same catapult and that makes things a lot less interesting for me.

Desert is way flatter than Alpine too. I can get to the Rampart quicker without taking falling damage than I can get to the Garrison by taking falling damage.

Soul Comprehension needs to die in a fire.

Yes, it is only useful in PvE trash mob events. If I could change it, I would make it convert hits taken to LF like Spectral skills.

It works in zerg fights in wvw as well.

Yes and no. The problem is that at such events there is normally so much death that the 10% Lf per death (also without the trait) generate more lf then you possible ever need due the cd of shroud and the fact that lf gain on death only works outside of shroud.

Honestly while it is nice flavor wise that deaths generate lf for us, it is gimmicky which makes it in my opnion bad that there is a trait that improves it. While i generally dont think on death traits are a good idea, i would see past it (since it is death magic after all) if it was more useful. Heck it should be a stackable buff (max 25 stacks and 5 stacks per player kill like the sigils) that increases your maximial lifeforce by 1,5% or 2% per stack.

I mean, I’d rather have something better if they were going to make it better, but what we have now isn’t bad.

Maybe it’s personal taste, but I find death magic to be far more useful than blood magic, at least in power builds.
