Well that sucks, I had some really cool build ideas based around the concept.
Thanks for the help.
The wiki is maintained by the players. There is some stuff outdated or merely wrong. If you see something wrong and test it, make the change.
tested ingame,
lifesteal from sigils and food, no effect
lifesteal from blood magic, health was gained.
The thing with it is that I don’t know if it’s outdated, wrong, or a bug. All 3 would have the same final effect and look exactly the same while testing. I hesitate to update something and it be a bug that later gets fixed, which is why I was looking for clarity.
It may have worked at one point (since it works with blood magic) and as a result of an update was broken, which would then make it a bug.
Per the wiki:
Life stealing is one of the few ways a necromancer can heal in Death Shroud.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Life_stealing
However I tested it tonight with:
- Sigil of Blood
- Sigil of Leeching
- Life Stealing food
And none of them seem to change HP while in shroud. Is this a bug or an error with the wiki?
I think that if the mastery points for adventures were lowered from silver/gold to bronze/silver we’d be in a much better place. Give people who get gold achievement points or something else.
We’ve been talking about personal score a bit. I’m personally of the opinion that it isn’t representative of a player’s effort in a given match, and it also can be incredibly misleading and potentially lead to bad gameplay habits (5-capping home).
If you were to redesign personal score, what would you do? Does it track different types of stats? Would you want your personal stats displayed to other players?
I would love for people to see how many boons I stripped during a match. That’ll show ’em.
I had a 40-game win streak last season, many of the games were slaughters. I’m not sure that was better.
I had to do Not So Secret for Astalaria III. I was very irate by the time I finished it.
Lazarus picks a fight with the elder dragons and gets brutally murdered halfway through the next expansion. Kinda like how the pact picked a fight with an elder dragon and got their kitten beat. My tax dollars blown up 30 seconds into the assault, unreal. This is why I don’t vote.
I missed a day’s worth of dailies and a night’s worth of playing, but so what, I have other things I can do. Considering the nature of what they had to do, the turnaround was quite quick. They were up front about what went wrong and how they had to remedy the situation. Can’t really ask for more considering the unfortunate circumstances.
Roll a sylvari and use take root as your elite.
Looks like the APIs on wvwintel didn’t mesh well with the map update.
Where did you see that?
They announced they would do this:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Mixed-Borderlands-Update
They had to because of how the maps work. On Friday they are re-linking and it’s like the start of a new season in a sense.
It was always weird with red and blue tags clashing with red and blue objectives.
For what it’s worth, a power necro can also use epidemic with knowledge that another necro will overwrite the stacks and the damage will be done based on the second (condi) necro’s condition damage.
You seem to miss the fact that Epidemic uses the casters condition-dmg (but not condition-duration). So using epidemic with a power-nec is like throwing a small grape against someones head: Annoying but doesn’t do kitten.
If another condi player puts 1 stack of bleed/whatever on top of the epidemic’d stack, it becomes their stack based on their condition damage.
Revs should never kill a CONDI necro 1v1.
corrected it.
I’ve never played power necro in spvp (because I don’t think any of the amulets would allow them to… work), but I play condi in spvp and power in wvw. In either case, revs get slaughtered by necros.
Before the salvage/all option was introduced, it was the same thing with rare gear.
Speaking of which, does using the Salvage All feature prompt for each Blood Ruby in the stack as well?
I’d rather have been warned that salvage/all would salvage the masterwork dye I had just purchased. It was only ~1.5 gold, but still annoying.
While we’re at it can we make more things available for purchase with karma? I’m sitting on 3 million karma and 500 obsidian shards.
Don’t tell me mystic forge, burning a few hundred karma at a time doesn’t burn millions of karma on human time scales.
Revs should never kill a necro 1v1.
I do miss chill damage, I was able to use an axe instead of scepter in a condi build and still kill people faster than my scepter now. Scepter is such a blah weapon.
Are you saying you can grind out over 14,700 achievement points in addition, every month?
No, 15000 is the global cap. If you do daily 10 points everyday, after 1500 days, you’ll not be able to earn any more. But you could earn more per day in the past, so there are people who have reached that cap yet.
1500 days is a little over 4 years and the game isn’t that old. Nobody should be at the cap and I can’t imagine anyone having played for 1500 straight days without missing a single daily.
Bring on unbalanced maps… you cant have 2 different maps, it truly is unbalanced. But then again everything that Anet is kittenedly unbalanced, like the massive power creep.
But then again there are so many kitten smoking wannabes on this forum who do nothing but kitten complain about every little thing and Anet is trying to accommodate y’all.
Can you have different maps for different BLs? sure… but if they arent balanced maps eg APL is 2 Dimensional and DBL is 3 dimensional, that is just down right kitten.
All the kittens were written by me and not the auto censor
Nothing is balanced, it can’t be, there are too many moving parts. Alpine isn’t even balanced with itself, EBG isn’t perfectly balanced, the 3 servers aren’t balanced in a match, the 9 classes aren’t balanced, coverage isn’t balanced.
The sooner you get over the myth of balance, the sooner you can actually have fun.
And for the record, alpine has just as many instant-death drops as desert. The difference is it’s not obvious they’re instant-death drops because of the sloping terrain.
I did see a fella with an anet tag over his head looting in AB last night. It’s possible they’re doing research on the subject to decide whether or not AB is in a good place right now.
I have noticed some friendly zergs (in the ~20 person range) moving around without a commander tag recently. I think this is in part to hide their location and in part not to attract pugs. Usually they run with another commander running, so it’s kinda nice to have two zergs hitting two targets or sandwiching an enemy zerg.
Just make Screenshot of Eternal Battleground QUEUE now and make one after 1 week.
The queue at top tier server will reach the 100+ man at primetime like it was before removal of DBL.
Top tier servers already strugle to fit all their guilds in alphine borders now with the removal of 1 of them they will have to fit even more guilds into 2 alphine maps.
Great ArenaNOT.
Clearly they are just trying to encourage the population to spread out across more servers
))))
Which will clearly never happen.
It didn’t happen in 4 Years …wont happen in 10 more if ever.
Alphine border coming back made huge amount of WvW players joining back gw2 now with this change there will be people who will leave again – probably they will leave for good this time getting fed up with monority decided for majority.
Question here is will WvW survive this.
I have not met a single player who came back because of Alpine. Maybe a few popped in for nostalgia’s sake, but it was very fleeting.
There were two polls on this subject, one was to disable Desert and one was on mixed borderlands. Both had a majority wanting both desert and mixed borderlands. The fact that both alpine and desert are in at the same time allows players to play as they wish. Nobody is forcing you to go to desert just like nobody is forcing you to go to alpine or EBG.
In T3, the only maps that are ever queued are EBG (95% of queues) and maybe the perceived weakest server (CD at the moment, SoS if CD isn’t in play). If the perceived weakest server gets desert, you’ll see people there.
TL;DR – Viper necros provide high dmg with low skill when played with other necros (cause Epidemic does the trick) and are difficult to kill because of their high base HP (around 19kish?) + reaper shroud + Siphon buff. You can easily do t4 fracs in around 30 minutes or less (when it’s a reasonable combo and only includes one of the following fractals: cliffside/mai trin/chaos)
Optimized zerker groups could possibly be a little quicker but it’s so much easier to kitten up because you lack even more defense and it’s easy to lose your scholar buffGreetz
For what it’s worth, a power necro can also use epidemic with knowledge that another necro will overwrite the stacks and the damage will be done based on the second (condi) necro’s condition damage.
Realistically chrono does only like 10k DPS and all the boons you give gets stolen. Then there’s that thing called armor scaling where power DPS drops by about 30% ?tested by a dnt friend). So you in total you do about 6-7k DPS and all your boons are stolen. It’s basically asking 4 people to carry you for a free ride.
It’s fairly straightforward for a chrono to stack 20 stacks of confusion and torment on a single target, which ticks ~6-8k without any power-based damage or alacrity lowering the party’s cooldown and indirectly increasing DPS, all without being spec’d to generate boons.
(there is a DPS report, a much more reasonable thing to use rather than a clip of 2s of damage)
I looked for this report a while back while wailing on a golem and couldn’t find it, how do you trigger the DPS report?
I’ve never had an issue with it, it’s nearly instant cast and I’m able to use any other skill while it’s channeling.
Whether you like it or not, one server will get DBL as their home borderlands.
I have a few questions about using Desert BL alongside Alpine:
1. Will DBL now have way points that are open for whoever caps the keep (like Alpine) or will will there be the previous system where the WP belongs to the nearest spawning server?
It was working like this before they rotated in Alpine.
2. Is bloodlust being added to Desert BL or removed from Alpine?
I too would like to know how this will work.
3. Are the PvE type mobs being reworked to be similar in number and strength between the BLs? (Or even removed?!).
Other than tower/keep lords, none of the mobs had special mechanics and were probably less sparsely populated than alpine. I have to imagine objective lords will keep their unique mechanics.
Unlikely given how ANet has expressed that they ‘learned from their mistakes’ with HoT. Also, Bloodfen is a drastic step from the usual maps that started with Silverwastes and continued hardcore with Heart of Thorns.
We’ll see with new maps in Living World and with the expansion. But for now, I’m going to say future content will be casual and solo-friendly in the extreme.
It took Heart of Thorns to make ANet realize—once again—who the core audience is.
That’s the trouble with listening to the vocal minority on issues. A lot of the concepts shipped with HoT were things people kept asking for, only for a lot of people to realize those weren’t the additions they really wanted.
That said, a lot of the HoT content has been modified to remove the tedious parts. There are still challenging parts, but most of the bang-your-head-on-the-wall items have changed. Except mastery points behind adventures, those still exist. LW3 has added a few of those, though, so that helps.
The developers who designed the map should get a bonus. A map bonus. My only issue is the blood rubies use an inventory space and can’t be material deposited.
Awesome news, I’ve missed the variety of Desert Borderlands and having Alpine still in the mix keeps things in wvw fresh.
The metas are a big part of it, but there are other things as well.
- Adventures were added, and are solo
- Raids were added
- Many changes to wvw were made at the same time as HoT (though not HoT-dependent)
- Collections were added, try making one of the new legendaries, I’m on Astralaria III and it’s a process
- A new class and 8 specializations (revenant is not well developed vs. herald…) added a lot of variety in builds if you’re not obsessed with meta playstyle
Once you get a feel for gliding, you will hate being without it in places like wvw or dungeons where it can’t be used.
HoT also wasn’t the end or epitome of development as fractals were just overhauled, wvw is in the process of being overhauled and LW3 episode 1 came out. The map for LW3, bloodstone fen, is quite fun to just cruise around on even with no destination in mind.
Before the salvage/all option was introduced, it was the same thing with rare gear.
Every time I do TD it goes T4, but I play during NA hours.
If I recall, Logan needs to be there for some personal story reasons?
Remember: every change is the worst thing to ever happen and will kill GW2 and is terrible and made the dinosaurs die.
I hate condi but in sPvP feels like only option
I run condi in spvp, but power in pve and wvw. More than once I’ve gotten into a big zerg fight in wvw only to notice my weapon option was a scepter in all power gear.
Necro is nice in high level fractals because of boon stealing. Scepter/axe/focus/dagger can all remove boons, as can well of corruption and corrupt boon. So at any given time you can look at 4 different ways to remove boons available at the same time.
But at that point you probably don’t need more than 1-2 of them. 1 is more than adequate if all you’re doing is banging on a boss.
I don’t have issues with Unholy Feast. Often you will be overrun and axe has no other AoE options. 15-18 seconds (depending on runes) of retaliation that reflects ~300 damage is really not all that bad.
The boon corruption is a nice feature as well, especially in small sided wvw fights. Using an axe at all in spvp wouldn’t work because of how the current meta works.
Feedback I’ve heard is based on repair hammers:
What about adding a “bucket of repair hammers” near the supply stations in larger objectives?
Could make it so either:
- A tractivator pull drops a bucket of hammers and there are a set number in there, but it doesn’t need supply since it probably uses the same slot as the supply drop upgrade
- A passive upgrade puts the bucket there and you use supply
I appreciate the change that allow for spirit shards to be gained on level-up now, but I have thousands of shards and hundreds of tomes and the shards are not terribly useful to me. Would it be possible to change it to another currency? Even 1 dungeon token per level would be more helpful to me.
The escorts take too long and are not remotely challenging/rewarding. Wave after wave of enemy that are going to die anyway without much trouble, but still take too long to kill.
I only use the black lion kits when there’s a rune or sigil I want, otherwise the master kits are fine. I had so many from login rewards that I had to use a couple up salvaging ectos just to get rid of the kitten ed things.
If they are still active on the dailies, I have to imagine there is a way to weigh various possible rolls to get dungeons to come up more, if that was their goal. At 2 times per month I can see why I missed it.
The tactic system is dying, slow but steady. Fewer and fewer guilds are willing to build tactics. Reduce the costs or the tactics end up like Stealth Disruptor Trap, which no one uses these days.
That’s because trolls/stupids set them off the second they go on cooldown. I can’t tell you how many wasted emergency waypoints or chilling fogs with no enemy in sight that I’ve seen. That’s a lot of money to spend on nothing.
Make dungeon daily like fractal. It will get ppl to do them more
I just looked it up because I don’t remember seeing it, but there’s supposed to be a dungeon daily in the pve rotation.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Daily#PvE_daily_achievements
But I’m not sure I’ve ever seen it (because I do the wvw dailies). Maybe because I have HoT it’s not in rotation? I haven’t seen daily fractal either since they changed the system.
Either it’s a bug, not rotation for HoT players, really low chance of coming up, or I’m just plain blind.
If it were in rotation 3-4 days a week, I imagine more people would do dungeons.
Rampager’s (or sinister, but rampager’s is cheap) is really not all that far behind Viper’s since necro can’t really apply large stacks of conditions that are not bleeding. Getting 100% bleed duration is pretty easy even without any expertise.
Nuh uh 100% duration is not exactly the limit. “Lingering Curse” does indeed give 50% duration to all conditions from Scepter skills. But this bonus is independent from the cap.
Thus in fact if we could reach 100% duration without it then with it the duration would be trippled. Yes the attribute “does” stack beyond the cap.
So while I currently have around 170% x bleed and poison duration, with lingering curse it’s actually around 255%.
I can of course reach the normal 200% using Pizza and Toxic Crystal and thus reach 300% with “Lingering Curse” on on my scepter. But if I could do it without the food it would be better.
Krait runes give 45% to bleed
Barbed Precision gives 20% to bleed
Food 20%
Giver’s Scepter/off hand 20%
For a total of 105% to bleed, and 40% to everything.
Scepter AA takes 2.4 seconds to go through the sequence, but let’s say with quickness it’s 1.2 seconds.
Scepter 1.3 applies 6 seconds of poison, plus 3 with lingering curse and in this example 40% vs. 100% condition duration. Lingering curse only works on the base condition damage.
Rampager’s/Sinister would then be 11.4 seconds of poison
Viper’s would be 15 seconds of poison
For a difference of 3.6 seconds, and our sequence took 1.2 seconds. So it follows that you maintain an extra 3 stacks of poison. Rampager’s would allow for 9.5 stacks of poison (total) and viper’s 12.5.
Then we can look at the damage per tick for poison. Let’s call bleeding a wash because the crit rate for rampager’s is higher and krait runes can generate some additional bleeding. Let’s also ignore power-based scepter damage for the same reason.
It’s also a raid, so let’s say you have a 25 stack of might.
Rampager’s:
Viper’s:
Rampager’s poison is 166 damage per tick, Viper’s at 181; for a difference of 15.
9.5*166 = 1577 damage
12.5*181 = 2263 damage
Or a difference of 686 damage per second.
Let’s say you were aiming for 30,000 DPS (I forget what people aim for). 686 DPS is 2.3%. And this is a perfect quickness/might uptime scenario. Anything but perfect uptime for both will lower this difference.
QED my original statement that rampager’s is not far behind viper’s is accurate.
Yes there is a damage boost, but it’s not a night and day difference. If it took you 8 minutes to kill vale guardian, a 2.3% boost in party DPS would kill him 11 seconds faster.
(edited by Hesacon.8735)
There were 7 mastery points so far in LW3 and it only took 1 mastery point for the bloodstone line. I’m hopeful LW provides more so I don’t have to do adventures.
Rampager’s (or sinister, but rampager’s is cheap) is really not all that far behind Viper’s since necro can’t really apply large stacks of conditions that are not bleeding. Getting 100% bleed duration is pretty easy even without any expertise.
