What happened is last time this poll came up 2 alpine and 1 desert won the most votes.
What strikes me is the people who like alpine should want the simultaneous borderlands. This way they will always have 2 alpines to play on. Otherwise they would have to have 3 months of no alpine. This way they can make a choice to only play alpine.
The people who like desert seem to be in favor of variety and are open to having both at once.
I’d be curious to see which color becomes Desert. I’d hope for Red because it’s usually the most populated. Nobody plays on Green.
So far it’s 79% in favor of simultaneous, my worry is it drops to 73-74% and we have tyrant of the minority.
Soul Comprehension needs to die in a fire.
Yes, it is only useful in PvE trash mob events. If I could change it, I would make it convert hits taken to LF like Spectral skills.
It works in zerg fights in wvw as well.
I hated them at first. But nothing fuels my hatred as much as the Mushrooms. By far the deadliest mobs in all of Heart of Thorns. At least if you pull more than 2 of them.
Definitely the mushrooms. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve died to a couple of these chain knocking me off a cliff.
Always have a reliable stun break on your bar in the jungle! And when it comes to mushrooms, remember that most of their mechanics are significantly easier to avoid from range.
It’s not always possible to keep them at range, like Nuhoch Lane during the TD meta. Stun breaks work once, so if 2-4 of them are knocking down in succession you’re pretty hosed without stability. I play necro, so stability is not something I can reasonably obtain.
Something must be done, according to the glicko sites were only at 1300ish right now and if that is true we are to remain in this tier for another 3 or so weeks before moving up to tier 3. That needs to change desperately because the other 2 teams have no chance of taking us on as we should be in t3 or possibly t2 but because of the broken glicko system that is being used WHICH SHOULDNT. We won’t be moving up anytime soon as the current T3 servers are in the 1700 glicko range while we are at 1300…
That is a big issue of carrying over old scores. Fortunately they reset volatility to allow servers to settle into their correct tier faster.
I remember the first month of the last linking was against different servers every week. After that it became stale and we (SoS) had maguuma and SBI nearly every week with the occasional FA/SBI or FA/Mag matchup. That last one sucked, few people from SoS or GoM played that week.
Even without US I know I have double tapped shroud in excitement and entered and dropped shroud more times then I care to admit.
A brief moment in which you can’t manually drop shroud would be nice addition.
Not sure I would like that, since I use Shrouded Removal as a condi cleanse by double tapping shroud to remove a condition, but don’t necessarily want to stay in shroud.

As a necro who needs to build up life force between 1v1s, having them around is a big plus.
Put a small cooldown on exit from shroud of 1 second /fixed
No..
Put F1 for enter, and F2 for exit /fixed
That would fix it.
I like Unholy Sanctuary, especially in wvw where someone can pot shot you out of left field before you ever see them.
the instant reduction of Badges of Honor’s value to near zero
https://gw2efficiency.com/currencies/badges-of-honor
1 silver, 12 copper per badge. Nope, not near zero value.
This isn’t a refutation of anyone’s post, but I would like to say I think it’s great Anet has the stones to try something new.
This is another example of Anet getting feedback from the community (linking T1 servers is unnecessary) and using that feedback. Is this the perfect solution to that problem? Probably not, but it’s a step in the right direction.
In two months when they relink servers, they will have more data points to see what worked and what didn’t work for giving everyone a fun match. Population balance is an issue, but they’ve used feedback on server linking, borderlands, etc., I would like to believe they are exploring options for population balance as well.
I’ve noticed that once a force breaches the inner wall, the emergency waypoint becomes basically useless since you can just bomb the crap out of it.
The better choice is to pull it before the inner wall is breached and stop them at that choke.
SoS is in a virtual 3 way tie several hours into reset with JQ and SBI. There’s some potential here to have fun.
It’s also nice that JQ doesn’t seem interested in double teaming us at every opportunity like we’ve had to contend with for the past couple of month.
People die in real life all the time regardless of position in society, why would a story be subject to different rules? George Patton died in a car accident and he was kind of the Destiny’s Edge of WWII.
But this isn’t real life, this is a video game. I expect fictional stories to handle certain things differently. Main characters with quite the life behind them shouldn’t die pathetically, in my opinion. Sure, characters can react to death the same way people in real life would, but I’d rather see an iconic character of a story die in a way that is fitting for them.
Excuse me for thinking an excursion deep into hostile enemy territory where the big bad enemy destroyed the fleet without flinching might be wrought with peril.
Another solution is to lower the price of a new toon expansion slot from 800 gems. 250+ gold for a toon seems like a lot.
I’ve survived the 5 minutes as a necro several times. It turns out it’s significantly less useful to be inside two walls as a necro than a mesmer.
Mendon’s is one of the hardest towers in the game to defend and can be used as a staging point to attack the overlook. If veloka falls, it’s basically game over for the overlook.
The west gate to breach the outer walls and the south inner walls are a common way to get in. West gate is fairly stealthy if done right and by the time you’re discovered you can have the gate down.
Or just camp the hill between the keep and spawn. You can divide enemy forces as you kill them and getting back into the keep is a long haul.
SoS will have SBI and maguuma or SBI and FA until the servers relink.
Every time I’ve done a VB meta we’ve killed all 5 bosses including this guy. He’s not that hard. Annoying yes, but no worse than the other 4 bosses with their own quirks.
It’s not an exploit, but it was caused by two changes that were made in tandem. Without these two changes, this would have never happened:
- LFG tool was upgraded to allow squads
- Activating Pylons is no longer required to obtain armors, so any map can complete the event regardless of previous events in a chain
But at the end of the day, AB is currently one of the few working gold sinks (because of the low coin generation and 15% tax on trading post).
Without it, it wouldn’t be hard to ectos to reach the 1-2 gold level, which prices most players out of the market for crafting (although current leather and wood prices certainly hurt). Harming the common player is bad for anet’s bottom line.
They can’t do anything to the AB meta because:
- They might not perceive it as a problem
- They would have to come up with another solution to inflation (if they want to keep prices where they’re at now)
- This activity was an unforeseen consequence caused by two well intentioned changes and clever players, who’s to say what the next change would create?

It does have its own identity, it’s the only AoE weapon necro has.
I don’t love how the “2” and “3” skills work, but I’ve accepted them. I’d rather have Chilblains apply a different field than poison (ice would be nice) or have Mark of Blood either do more damage, have more regeneration, or do more bleed stacks; but they’re not BAD as they are now.
The “outnumbered” buff adds 50% participation gain and can usually be found on one of your enemy BL’s. Just roam and flip camps/sentries or towers if you can find a few more people.
I’ve had this same issue. It doesn’t happen every time, sometimes when there is presence of the keep I get the +10, and sometimes I don’t. There hasn’t seemed to have been a pattern as to why.
What if all of mag moved to SoS?
You could say the opposite but Mag is full.
Exactly. See you guys soon when you transfer to SoS.
What if all of mag moved to SoS?
I’ve found no compelling reason to go reaper in pve or wvw, necro seems to be better for power builds. I use reaper in spvp, but that’s because my pve or wvw builds doesn’t work with the trinket/rune selection in spvp.
Mag should be bumped into Tier 1 to play against TC and BG. I don’t understand how those WvW veterans found it fun to stack onto a T3 server to just stomp lesser opponent week after week.
Mag would get so overrun by BG and TC. I hear what you are saying, though.
We on maguuma would love that type of match up m8. Don’t care about ppt just want the non stop action.
You say this, but on EBG last night mag was camping the SoS hill the entire night and firing trebs/cows at anything that moved off the hill. If you want a fight, railroading people so they don’t want to play is not going to work in your favor.
That said, there was some pretty epic battles between SoS and maguuma last night over bay on SoS BL. Those were enjoyable, I would participate in them again.
The PPT dropping from 15 minutes to 5 minutes is a huge improvement.
I would be curious to see how the warscores break down in PPT vs. PPK vs. caravan/sentry caps.
I’ve had a lot of luck running a power build in both solo and zerg play.
If you wanted to go reaper you could swap out either death magic or spite.
I’ve become very partial to Plague recently both to run away (if I can make it to a body of water, I’m going to win 99% of the time) or in zerg play (Plague #3 is an AoE weakness which causes enemies to do half damage and kill their stamina).
You could do some additional damage swapping out the soldier’s pieces for berserker’s until you hit a level you’re comfortable with.
As it stands now, you can get leather from:
- Bags, very rarely
- Salvaging Medium Armor
T6 leather is beyond ridiculous in price right now (whereas T6 cloth is basically free) and you still need leather to craft light and heavy armors.
http://www.gw2shinies.com/item/19732
What would it take to change it so leather can be salvaged from light and heavy armor?
In response to the OP’s commend that badges are useless, they added a lot of vendor items that use badges for more than wvw items including bags, skins, and food.

So they are far from useless and are actually a pretty decent way to make/save money, even if you’re just working through a back stock of them.
I keep waiting for it to reset but it hasn’t.
All they have to do is change the mystic clover gain on the final box from 7 to 2 and there’s no reason it couldn’t be repeated. It’s otherwise identical to the maguuma wastes track.
Most of my emerald/sapphire games have been in the 7-8 minute queue range, so I stopped doing them stuck on sapphire. There is nothing to do in heart of the mists and as much fun as running in circles is, my recreation time is best spent… doing something.
I can see a zerg defending yaks as they trot along towards the enemy keep or tower. It also puts urgency to taking back a camp even if you’re under siege. It breaks up the defense since failure to attack the camp means more bombs at your gate.
Zergs I think will be impatient and just beat the gate down, but agree on the rest. If you are just sitting defending then you are going to have to react the siege else it will weaken what you are doing. Now think about it further, if you add in higher tier structures are worth more and/or killing yaks are more points and this idea fits well into those concepts and creates a more active game.
“Ok, do I leave them the camp and then try and kill their yaks as they approach the gate, will they jump me if I do. Do I need to go and recap that camp else I have bombs on both gates.”
Making players make decisions is a good thing. Mistaken tactics can create chaos which prompts more conflict, which is what WvW is about, conflict and fluctuation.
I’ve been on both sides of the long stand-offs, the ones where a tower and keep trade treb and cata shots for hours. The last week of desert borderland I remember defending a 3 hour siege of the air keep before the aggressors gave up and left.
It’s quite common for zergs to dig in when attacking a target that they would not be able to attack in a full assault. Usually it follows doing something to royally kitten them off, like flipping SMC or their garrison/rampart in a surprise attack of your own. Or of the third side has packed it in and attacking them is boring.
Other times they’re just trying to bleed supply so they can attack later.
Yak bombs would be an extra dimension in those fights.

Several hotfixes later and the track is still locked and anet has not acknowledged the issue.
The thing that strikes me is that most people wrote off desert borderlands based on the original version. They made complaints and anet made many modifications including removing chokepoints and barricades and really opening up the map. Those complaining have not really played out the newer version of it, which feels more open to me than alpine does because of how the cliffs in alpine are laid out.
I guess the question would be, is EBG alpine popular because of its alpine design or simply because it is a balanced 3 way fight with more objectives?
Both.
EBG and Desert Borderlands both have first aid kits if you control a sentry, but I have not seen them on Alpine. Are they somewhere else or missing altogether?
The thing with mixed borderlands is there would then always be an alpine in play, rather than all or nothing.
As it stands now axe is only good at single-opponent kills. But that’s just it, it’s good at it. I got the 5000 kill achievement for axe purely on necro.
For zerg-on-zerg or blobs of NPCs I end up going staff and using wells before finishing in shroud.
Write it again, instead off having rotation on map do so every player that have entered a borderland map can vote with map your server should have as home borderland map next week. For the vote you simple go to a npc at citadel and place your vote.
This would be a neat idea, choose which borderland you want to defend. Depending on the mood that week and the matchup you could end up with 3 alpine, 3 desert, or a mix of borderlands depending on a server’s tastes and those of its opponent’s.
They’ve made a lot of progress with that list in regards to rewards (the changes this week made it a lot better, no more playing based on the clock waiting for a PPT before logging out). They more or less fixed desert borderlands but threw alpine in because yelling. The scoring changes are promising but need to be played out in a few matches.
Population balance is the only real thing that needs to be addressed. I’m not sure what can be done with skill balance other than limiting number of targets like they did with “wall” skills.
I agree, or at least make the first server change free.
Polls accomplish a couple things:
1) It gives the active dev team some insight into what players want
2) It indicates to the players that the dev team is active and trying to listen to them
3) It takes the hot air out of the vocal minority on issues complaining about… whatever, and shows they don’t represent the population in general
As of last night when I checked the silverwastes reward track was still locked as I had previously completed it.
Did they do something server-side over the last few hours to reset it?
In my opinion it was not the return of alpine borderlands that saved WvW but the introduction of WvW reward tracks.
My experience is on SoS in T3, so it might not be representative of the entire system.
Two things happened in rapid succession:
1) Servers were linked while desert borderland was the borderland. For an entire month on reset there was a queue of 30+ on each map at reset and a queue on two maps during most prime times.
2) Desert was swapped for apline and there were some queues, but they were far lower than when servers were linked.
Now I seldom see server queues despite alpine being the borderland of current use. I could be honest and say the server linking had a far bigger impact. I could also nitpick and say that changing from desert to alpine led to a lower wvw population. The actual answer is somewhere in between.
What I haven’t seen is “old hardcore blah blah blah” players come back because of alpine. They were already moved on. This poll shows the vocal minority isn’t representative of reality.
I have 100+ saved chests and I’m on the fence. I’d complete 1 1/2 rewards tracks if they changed it, but lose 30+ hours of 50% wxp gain.
Consider my vote as neutral, so it’s 1.5-1.5
