Friend got one after opening 3. RNG FTW/L.
Errr. How did the symbols hit wrong amount of targets again? Did they hit too many or too few? In either cases we didn’t get any nerfs nor buffs.
You are seriously complaining about mesmers downed state? Thief, mesmer and elementalist have the most annoying downed skills of all classes.
Don’t know if this is relevant but today in tpvp, high defense was the best offence. I was defending a point when a ranger and thief came. The ranger stayed back while the D/D thief came running against me. The thief was quite slippery but I got him down and suddenly I noticed that the ranger died as well. Wanna guess how? Retaliation. I have VERY high retaliation up-time with GS and virtues trait-line. I merely outhealed both the ranger and the thief while the ranger couldn’t take the constant 400 dmg stream that he suffered because of his high attack speed.
There have been many complaints about sylvari male t3 armor. It’s too skimpy and is by far the worse looking heavy cultural. Other sylvari t3 armors are pretty bad as well.
The thing is, the t3 heavy is clearly meant for females and it looks great on them but NOT on males.
Aren’t we supposed to get a 10% damage reduction in the next path? And which class is this that can burst a Guardian in 3-4 hits? I haven’t come across anything like this in WvW… well there was this one guy that hit like a truck.. Thief then I take it. But they are super glassy if they spec that way.
You are close but, all classes can make alot damage to guardian due low health pool as example w/o being glass cannons and mantain some good defense
Are you forgetting that we are the best condition removal AND defense class? Low health means more effective healing in which we also prevail. Also only a beginner gets bursted by a thief or a warrior. We have so many blocks that you can literally block thieves whole burst combo and with it, gain full stack of might. After this you can show him how bursting is done. We also have access to stability with fairly low cool-down. If you get damaged a lot by a class that is not GC, you are doing it wrong. Simple as that. I shall quote hundres of people before me by saying “It’s a learn to play issue”.
If one decides to save even for a little while, cultural T3 becomes more than affordable.
Well most go 0,0,30,30,10 or 0,0,30,20,20 these days. Invest max 10 to zeal for 10% more dmg for burning targets if u wanna deal a bit more damage.
Soloed the whole Orr on my guardian. No problemo. Annyoing tho.
Epic skills. Mind passing a build? I can see you have decent amount of healing power since your dodge roll heals over 1k.
I don’t want to open another thread so I’ll jump on this one…
What profession should I pick if I want to do the most damage pve / in dungeon? One or two suggestions will be awesome (melee one and ranged for example).
Thanks in advance!
Warrior. They have the highest damage output in the game plus they have good ranged options as well.
Did you know that there are wells that can make you stealthed for the whole run? Check a video guide to locate them.
I think they have previously stated that there will be no mounts in this game. Can’t be bothered to find the source tho.
Well when you find the time to bother, hit us up with that link. Until that time I will go with the knowledge from already reading from source that mounts are not planned at this time, and no dev has ever said there will never be mounts.
More proof of that, we already have a cosmetic mount the broomstick. Which makes that statement even more void.
There you go: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Frequently_Asked_Questions
Under the gameplay section.
You can pretty much maintain 100% swiftness with those mentioned above.
You can always hide your helmet as well as your shoulders. I think the only headpiece that fits your description for heavy armor is from the hall of monuments. Also norns have a hairstyle that has a headband.
It always makes me smile when a game brings people together. ^.^ Good luck and feel free to PM me if I happen to be online. I consider myself to be quite knowledgeable regarding the game.

I think they have previously stated that there will be no mounts in this game. Can’t be bothered to find the source tho.
There are no parts in this game that require bigger party except in WvW.
Thanks I’ve narrowed it down to elementalist or mesmer because they appeal to me the most I think. Could anone give me the pros and cons of each or if you play one of them give me the reason that you like/dislike them. Thanks I appreciate everyone’s help!
They are good in their own fields. Elementalists deal higher damage in general but mesmers can also cause some SERIOUS damage with confusion and shatters. Mesmers are usually considered better in pvp but that doesn’t mean you can’t win against one. Elementalists are better at support/healing but mesmers also have very important skills like time warp, portal and veil. . In AOE aspect elementalists easily take the cake. They are both very good at escaping combat. Mesmers have stealth and can confuse opponents and draw agro with clones. Dagger/dagger elementalists tho have the highest mobility in the game and catching one is nearly impossible.
In the end mesmers are more challenging to master and seeing you are a beginner, it could leave a very bad taste in your mouth and make you never play them again. They are very fun if you get the hang of it so you should prevent this from happening. If I were you, I would choose the elementalist for now. Personally I’m a guardian but I have played both classes and know many who play them personally. Consider my opinion neutral.
You will come to appreciate the complex gameplay of elementalists in the future. Seeing as you are new and lack the skill to survive with a mesmer and you also find melee classes boring, you should choose ele. You will learn the tricks and tips when you play and when you feel more confident, you can choose mesmer if you so wish.
I would like lions arch to develop further. I know the lore and history behind its current appearance but it doesn’t mean such an important town of merchants wouldn’t advance. It would also bring more dynamic feel to this world.
I would also liked to see a quick way to separate stacks. Right now it automatically halves the stack and you will have to change it to the desired number such as 1. It would be great if there was an option to split the whole stack at one time to match the place left in your inventory. For example if you had a stack of 10 dyes, you could make it 10×1 with one click. If you lack space, it would only fill the space available.
There is hold down Alt and drag the item, a number box will appear and you can denote how many you want to remove from it.
I am fully aware of this but what I mean is that if you buy like 10 dyes of same color, you will have to decide the number over and over again. At least the number should be the same as the first decision so that it would speed up the process. Mainly this is for making new dyes in the mystic forge using the cheapest dye available.
I’m talking about an option to split the whole stack into stacks of same number without doing it separately over and over again.
Would be great if domes blocked siege as well. It would give space to new tactical way to approach heavily sieged fortresses. Only balllista tho. Blocking a trebuche would kinda render them useless. This is not such an unfair request seeing as elementalists can block siege with their wind field skill.

This has always interested me. At lupicus, I end up tanking him 90% of the time unless an elementalist summons the earth elemental. I’m a guardian with easily over 3k armor and use scepter against him. I try to keep my distance but he still chases me all the time. On the other hand it might be a good thing since guardians are the most fit to tank lupicus coz of our stability, high defense and blocks. Still those factors that cause agro don’t really fit here since even tho I have the highest armor, I’m surely not dealing the highest damage and always keep my distance as well as I can. Scepter has a 1200 range you see.
This is one of the most weirdest questions ever. It’s like comparing maplestory to call of duty.
Thieves already have several problems in pve. Asking to nerf them further would be unfair towards them. I understand that ur GC warrior got shot down by a thief in couple of seconds, their burst is short but effective. Proper use of skills and good reflexes will save you and force the thief to escape.
Am I the only one who misses more hard and immersing battles. Lupicus is the only boss right now that I find exciting and fun. You can’t find big and challenging battles if you don’t wanna climb the levels in fractals to battle lvl 40 Legendary etched shaman.
Also I find the story-telling in many dungeons lacking interesting points and things that make me care. The twilight arbor was interesting at first since I, being a sylvari and all, care about my race and what’s happening around them. I’m not talking about RP or anything like that.
I don’t know if I’m just being too strict and lift the bar too high but this is just how I feel. I know that many bosses end up being farmed for loot and lose their interest. The idea of dynamic events and bosses are what made me interested in this game from the beginning.
But being who I am, I would like to see something like “super dungeons” that would become infamous for their challenging content. Also there wouldn’t be paths like in the other dungeons but a long, linear adventure with an epic story. The story could introduce a new elder dragon as well but please, not the kind of battle as it was with Zhaitan. That was the biggest let down of the whole game. You would have to complete a long quest chain to enter the dungeon with your friends and the reward could be, you guessed it: pre-cursor. Also make pre-cursors you get from there soulbound so that people wouldn’t just buy them from trading post but would be forced to challenge these dungeons to gain them.
This was merely a piece of my mind and I realize that I might have not been able to explain my idea properly but I hope you get the general idea of what I’m talking about.
In a nutshell: Super dungeons of extreme difficulty that require organized team-play, immersing story, grand and special environment (not just like it is outside. A different dimension maybe), and a reward that gets people to join them. Precursor is an option but also different weapon and armor skins. Also completing the dungeon would trigger a cut-scene just like the one after Zhaitan.
Honestly the dumbest update ever if it really comes. At least keep it pvp only. We guardians have been nerfed there so much anyways.
Honestly I would like to say that a game as dynamic as gw2 isn’t your thing but that would be just unfair.
I personally enjoy jumping puzzles and would like to see more of them in, for example dungeons and such, but then there are people who have several handicaps that need to be taken into consideration. Asking for help is a great way to socialize and I think that is the main goal of the whole mmorpg concept.
I remember seeing this one post couple of weeks back where a red/green color blind person was complaining about the AOE circles. Also there was a guy who wanted spiders to be removed from the game because his girlfriend had arachnophobia.
The small minority is hard to take into consideration because there are just too many people enjoying these things as they are.
It’s good that you brought this up and posts like this are important to the developers since they help to make the world more compatible for people with issues such as yourself. Opinions are tricky to deal with since they vary with each individual. As I said before: I personally enjoy jumping puzzles and would like to see them more in story quests, dungeons and events, but that’s just my opinion. You could accept that jumping puzzles are part of this game and that not everyone can be pleased but it’s important to make yourself heard just in case you will be able to make a difference.
Corrupted ones are a bit too expensive for a player that I suspect to be a beginner. Ascalonian catacombs is a cheap option for good looking, glowing daggers.
Start with completing the whole map. After that start start collecting rares and salvage them for ectos. You should always make the clovers (77 required) first since you will gain alot of T6 materials at the same time. Also remember to do your dailies since you will need mystic coins and karma. Also laurels for more materials. Do the daily bosses while u still can do. Farm CoF for the ectos as well. You are gonna need alot of ectos.
Pre-cursors are a bit of a problem now. I hope we get the scavenge hunt system in the near future.
AH and staff are enough for me in wvw. It’s like I have 3 healing skills: virtue of resolve, empower and the actual healing skill PLUS the additional health regen I get from dolyak runes, mango food, boons and the virtue.
I would recommend at least 1800 toughness and about 1400 vitality. Living guardian>dead guardian who hits higher.
Depends on what you want to do. If I pop Save Yourselves + Leap of Faith + Judge’s Intervention and Whirling Wrath in the middle of a group, I’ve just nailed several people down to 50% or less (even downed a few a couple of times) before they even had a chance to react.
Of course, if I get focused I die quick, so this is not one of the builds for 1vsX play. More of a shock trooper stuff because I rely on my group to hit them immediately afterwards.
So far had little trouble in such scenarios, and even if we lose I am usually one of the last to go down. But I am susceptible to burst damage, so gotta watch out for that. I’m not saying mine is the best build out there, I was just answering OP’s question, how low can you go with HP. Well, really low.
Well first of all “save yourself” in large fights WILL get you killed plus in pvp the buff duration is half of their duration in pve. Still a good skill tho. I have noticed something really important when playing and that is how inefficient our bust builds are. We lack the ability to escape properly. Especially if you don’t get condition removals for your utility and get crippled or chilled.
The most efficient offensive build for me has been the combination of Judges intervention with hammer #5 and then GS #2. The opponent WILL panic even without huge burst. I will combine this with semi-high tankyness to allow me to escape the situation. Using this tactic without high defense and condition removal is very risky since you will want to soak your GS #2 to deal good damage but while u do that, u will get ranged by the enemies allies. 1800 toughness and 1400 vitality is therefore almost mandatory. Plus u don’t have to sacrifice stats on gear for this since u have 2 traits to boost your toughness in combat. +90 from the shield trait and the other one, strength in numbers, will benefit your team-mates as well. Guardians are VERY vulnerable against conditions because of our low health pool but adding a bit of vitality and condition removals will save your life.
Me (guardian) and my friend (elementalist) can both control enemies pretty well. I can use wards, knock-backs,heals and immobilizes and also support. He can stun, immobilize, heal and DPS. 2 Classes that can heal are pretty deadly.
I would recommend at least 1800 toughness and about 1400 vitality. Living guardian>dead guardian who hits higher.
Mine probably when I was chasing invaders with my guildies. I used Mighty blow (a leap skill) and the target had just suicided off the bridge. Naturally my MB targeted after him and I gloriously jumped off the bridge with my hammer up in the air. The chat-room was quiet for about 30 seconds before bursting into laughter. ;D
Sylvari have it a bit rough in this matter.
First of all your weapon sets are a bit bad. Guardian without melee weapon is not a guardian. Staff is for support play only and scepter is only for certain boss battles. If you have full zerg gear and no damage weapon, it makes you a “glass-slingshot”. You can’t deal damage and you die fast. I’m guessing you chose radiance path for the “right handed strengt” right? If you want to go 1-hander DPS, choose sword and torch. Torch offers some nice DPS and also aoe damage. Tho you will shortly realize that guardians aren’t made to be a top-notch DPS class but a tanky support character who can also deal good damage.
I don’t think selling stuff on forums is allowed. We lack a fair trading system thus making straight trades trough mail very questionable. The chances of being scammed is a big threat so I would recommend you to just put it into the trading post. 2 golds is not much.
I heard the shields #5 skill does the same job. Activate it right when u fall and it should mitigate falling damage. Haven’t tried it myself tho.
“save yourself” ?
My problem fixed: re-installed my win 7. Now works without a problem.
you realize saying hammer is good for fight with AH doesnt add up since ALL weapons basically make symbols (Few dont) and ALL of those symbols give a boon to allies hence ALL symbols trigger AH. Hammer is possibly worse for AH due to the cooldown on the symbol vs other weps spammable symbols.
Staff isnt meant to DPS. Spam empower, switch back to DPS weapon. This is what triggers AH the best btw, not symbols. Empower, is your best heal. Buff Team/Heal, then go back to dps weapon
You do realize hammers attack-chains last hit is a symbol right?
Well for one: Hammers mighty blow is alot easier to land than greatsword whirling wrath. Also the cool-down is twice as short.
Ever heard of a phrase “It’s a matter of taste”? You can’t expect to buy a toy, play with it for months, say you don’t like it after all and demand refund? Most of the people playing spvp enjoy it very much and personally I think gw2 has one of the best pvp of any mmorpg.
False advertising? Please pick up your dictionary. It’s like hearing a kid throw around words he just heard from his friends.
That looks a lot better than pure black. There are too many all-black characters moving around.
These made the Dredge fractal a total breeze. Also CoF p1. I used them but I can do well even without them. Good fix!
I can (kind of) see your point and discussing is not bad. Shield is a good weapon but mostly in WvW because of its #4 skill (AOE protection and damage) and the bubble that can save you from very dangerous bursts. You just need to time it correctly. We already have a long duration, projectile protection shield (shield of the avenger) even tho it requires you to actually hit something before the shield pops up.
As mentioned above: shield of absorption is a lot more situational than refraction and if it had longer duration or shorter cool-downs; guardians could negate VERY high amounts of enemy zergs ranged attacks only by switching his utilities to walls/bubbles: Wall of reflection, sanctuary, shield of the avenger and shield of absorption.
It would be cool to have a long duration bubble as a weapon skill but we need to take a look at the big picture and that is balance.
