I have played my guardian the whole year and not once have I grown tired of him. I also played mesmer and thief and they were both a lot of fun. Just see what seems cool and stick with it. All classes are fun tbh.
skillwise…engineer, mesmer and thief may require most skill to play efficiently.
They made it hard to make people buy the infi-coin end off. Disgraceful P2W mechanics which just pushes people like myself, a long time player away from the game.
Tin foil hats are in style once again!
If you came home one day and found your family stabbed to death and some crazy looking guy covered in blood and holding a bloody knife would you need a tinfoil hat to figure out what was going on?
Such an stupid example.I had saved some baubel bubbles from last world thus i was able to get some coins. Most difficult parts of world 2 just require focus and patience. It’s funny how your own lack of skill is driving yourself out of the game.
Asura heavy T3 cultural armor. /thread
Racials are weaker than professional skills by default. That’s why you can basically go any race and any class. Some races do have some skills that are more useful than others but not enough to make a difference.
What about guardians?
Guardian, warrior or elementalist. All of them have very strong AOE damage thus making the good farmers.
Guardian tho has the best “tapping” weapon in the game: the staff. “Tapping” basically means damaging the monster enough to get the loot. You can hit most targets in large fights and thus get the most loot. Guardians are also extremely mobile if build so and our GS is ridiculously good for melee AOE.
In the end it’s up to you and I’m just expressing my opinion based on my personal experience. Elementalist is also great AOE tapping with staff.
Oh I’m not saying my settings should affect other people. I’m saying even I see other people with those weird armors and my settings are all max. My problem disappears after couple of seconds tho.
I get that also. It’s really weird as I have all options turned to max. My friend sees me like that ALL the time. I think this deserves a fix.
That depends on what kind of dungeon you are running. In high level fractals you are going to need wards and wall of reflection, in cof you want to build fully around DPS.
Healing power is not that great but it is certainly not useless if your every dodge roll heals for 1,2k. Other deciding factor is your teammates. If they don’t know what you are doing, they can’t help you to help themselves. If you want to build around support and still maintain high damage, that is possible in every way. Guardians are the ultimate hybrids, making it possible to run DPS set-up while being able to support your party and save the day.
Optimize your stats to a point where you feel comfortable and switch traits depending on occasion. Nothing is black and white and there are several factors affecting your gameplay.
Also you should get every weapon available. Skillful guardian switches weapons all the time depending on content.
Oh goodness. The synergy is bad in this one. I support playing how you want but there are just too many things I would fix here. First: use “save yourself”. It’s our best shout and frankly, the best one in game, switch retreat to “hold the line” for protection and regen, if you use shouts, it’s smart to combine it with altruistic healing, mace-shield combo is horribly inefficient in PVE as people wont be standing in your regen symbol, radiant fire is a waste of space as you are not using a torch, retaliation is close to useless in PVE plus you don’t have that much of it without GS (making vengeful useless), you skillfully avoided all of our best traits like monks focus, altruistic healing, empowering might, unscatched contender and right-handed strength. Also consider using greatsword. It’s our best PVE weapon.
I don’t think you know what you want as your focus is all over the place. No real DPS or real support. Decide what you want to be and build around it.
Mace on both weapon sets and no staff? 0 in virtues? 0 condition removal? No stand your ground?
I don’t think you understand the concept of “support”
It would make sense for it to stun or daze. Shield would finally be viable for pvp.
TAkittenimpossible? I beg to differ. Sure you can’t blow past it with a party made of zerkers but honestly, that’s how every dungeon should be. Go back to your casual land.
The view alone makes the SS worth posting. I also recently finished my gear so here it is:

Red circle—> dodge.
Guardians can’t dual wield anything.
Work hard and all your dreams may or may not come true.
Retaliation is not very useful in dungeons but it’s possible. For offensive play, I would recommend something like this: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fUAQJARWlYg67GFSLEfIFSWhC0mBBBQVFiHcGYUGB
Do notice it’s 100% offensive and focuses on the use of greatsword and staff. Also you have retreat for more aegis uptime as you will deal 20% more damage when you have aegis on. Also remember to dodge alot and keep you enemies on fire. If you meet all the requirements, you will deal 50% more damage.
Staff is for might and team support. When a harder boss comes tho, you can switch greatsword to scepter-focus.
Might as well throw my 15 chars of support. Give us Cantha!
causing blast finisher
For regular PVE, I usually run 10,0,30,20,10. It keeps you alive and gives +30% more damage if you have aegis and target is on fire. You will also have AH so you won’t be swatted like a fly. My gear is very balanced, giving me +1,9k power, +1,6k prec, +1,8k toughness, +1,3k vitality and 65% crit dmg. Crit chance is about 45% with accuracy sigils.
For weapons I run GS-staff or GS-scepter/focus.

Not sure if mentioned but Drake slayer achievement has a reference to snakes on the plane.
“Enough of these massive drakes on Tyria’s massive fields”.
Rank 30. Took some time for a casual like me. O.o
The best way to learn is to play in the big boys league. I’m talking about TPVP. When there was no solo que, you went and did your best against pre-made teams. In the process of getting your kitten kicked, you would also learn how to control the map with your teammates.
Personally I took my time reading guides and following people more experienced than I am. In the process of learning you won’t only learn about your own class, you also learn the basic patterns of other classes.
The first thing to do when you see a mesmer coming is to target the real body. After that you have to pressure the real one as hard as you can. If you fall to far behind, you are going to get damaged as they regain their calmness. Mesmers shatters require some setting up and they can’t do that as well if you are constantly on their tail. Also shatter builds will ALWAYS stun you before shattering clones so make sure u always have stun breaker AND RE/shelter off CL.
For thieves, it’s true that you have to drop them fast. Hammer is pretty great combined with sword/focus. Shield is also an option for it is awesome for pushing them out of shadow refuge. Also make sure you have retaliation on when it counts. Pistol thieves usually drop pretty fast if they aren’t careful.
Taking a friend with you makes a huge difference. Me and my friend did fields of ruin together. We also found chicken which we could carry and they also gave swiftness thus we tried to complete the map while carrying those chicken. Was really fun.
Frankly I think if a person doesn’t leave the safe zone in the first 5 minutes, he/she should get the debuff.
How did I attack your guide? I just told how I personally did it. I do think you are over- analyzing this particular encounter but my post was not meant to be offensive in any way. O.o
Just gear up for decent sustain, WW the kitten out of captain and stiches. Piece of cake.
Also WoR is pretty good to pop once in a while because of that ranged guy who deals qquite a lot of damage.
Has any1 noticed how sylvari T2 heavy coat have these weird glitching leafs on the back. They are supposed to fit with the shoulders but they just float like pieces of paper without being really attached to anything. Ruins the look especially with T3 helmet.
The RNG is a well known problem but the people above are making a good point. There should be an option to obtain precursor trough series of quests and battles. Maybe with some lore as well regarding each legendary.
1+
Launches on bigger monsters could stagger them instead of sending them flying (which would look silly) and bosses could have 3 seconds immunity to CC after 1 is used. That would make CC locking impossible and it would also make CC more valuable from tactical point of view.
Give more strong attacks to bosses but also give those attacks very clear animations so they could be interrupted with right timing.
It would also be cool if some bosses would be out-right impossible to defeat if your team doesn’t have, let’s say, mesmer or guardian. Like un-dodgeable projectile showers.
This is priceless. ;D Been a while since I saw a nerf guardians-thread. Why is that? Because we are the most BALANCED profession in the game. We are the level which DEVs try to get other professions to. Have a snicker.
Ofc if you are a bad player, going full berserk may end up being a big burden to the rest of your party. No one likes that one warrior/thief who dies all the time.
How about you decide for yourself? You must have seen how each class works if you already have level 80 warrior.
Guardian going full GC is viable in every possible way and you can also support your party with utilities and boons. Warrior deals a lot of damage but also drops if as much as a fly lands on your hand.
In the end tho guardians are extremely valuable in high level fractals due to our projectile reflection and boons.
My favorite skill against bosses ^^. Doesn’t work well in pvp tho.
Would look kinda silly in some cases tho I can’t completely disagree.
I’d recommend watching some guiding videos of each patch before you go. Arah is a hard dungeon. After that you can count yourself as “experienced” and jump in those parties. ^^
You are suffering from a chronic disease called “Did not read”. Take your time and it should go away.
I did read the “pamphlet” that came with the game and it instructed me which keys to hit to perform attacks and how to access my inventory and hero accoutrements. Was there something more specific you were referring to?
Yes. The stuff that is taught to you when you talk to NPCs. When I first tried crafting, I went and talked to crafting masters that seemed interesting. I also read guides as the person above so kindly linked to you. Take your time and you will soon know anything you need to know regarding the game, also, clear your mailbox from time to time. Living story information is sent by mail which you cannot receive if your mailbox is full.
What I am about to say to you is a fact: high damage=quick death. Still, if you want to learn a class that can both deal damage and be useful, try necromancer with staff and condition damage or thief.
Thieves are said to be good for beginners who want some confidence by killing other beginners in pvp. Thieves are also more of a solo class which fits with your describtions. They kill quickly and flee quickly. You don’t want to stay there and fight it out.
Find some interesting thief build from profession forums and give it a shot. Be patient tho because pvp is 80% skill and 20% build. It’s all about mastering your own class.
You are suffering from a chronic disease called “Did not read”. Take your time and it should go away.
Yes. It gives you a skill point. Not a level.
When I buy/find my genesis, I want to be proud of it. I don’t want to encounter 20 other people with genesis every day. That is why I crafted foe fires essence. Rarity is good.
Atm they are easily over 300g in TP but only an idiot buys one when they have been out for only 2 days. The price will drop to more affordable levels but hopefully not too low.
