I did the calculation and I knew it is not worth in term of cost. However, those 250x or 500x harvesting/mining tools are good to save your bag space and time to replenish them if you mine/harvest a lot. And now that they are account bound, I think it is worth to get them.
Doubtlessly the reward plays a part in pleasing many players but that’s not all of it.
I did have a bit of lag problem but I didn’t die because I just played carefully, never rushed for damage or loot, even gave up on some loot I could see. Before I open the huge chest, I was somehow satisfied because I expected something worse, like mobs spawned from everywhere, which did not happen if you keep yourself low profile.
I was lucky and the loot definitely made me high. But the event is still great as it was like the zerg experience in the starting area at release. In fact most poison AoE can be avoided if you stay alert, even with a bit of lag. Most people don’t have food buff (I used a condition duration decrement food). This event is supposed to be reasonably hard since we are fighting level 84 veterans and champions, which is even stronger than dungeon mobs, how can they not be prepared?
I do feel that the reward needs to have a minimum of something if you did participate long enough, like everyone should receive a chest which contains either a 15-slot bag or the current 20-slot bag+accessory set. I feel so bad for people not receiving anything worthy for their 2.5 hours.
Now that I see no sequel is in phase 3 for both investigation, I guess the reason for them to disable Miyani’s chain might be something like: We managed to fix the first chain but it took enough time to deal with it and we don’t have any ETA for the fix of Miyani’s chain so we should disable it". Well, definitely their programmers need some sleep and I understand that.
Whatever it is, I think they should let us know the reason behind the scene so we can understand and sympathize instead of misunderstand and rage.
Yeah they specifically told us that we don’t want to miss this one in the last phase. It was 5am Monday in Japan but it is worth waking up that early for this one. You always have to sacrifice something for anything else, you can’t just have both. I gave up my nice sleeping time and took this event. It was a gamble though, and it might have turned up to be “Oh I should have just slept and ignored it”.
(edited by Hologramx.6402)
If that’s the case, I guess the reward of the chain is “A few slots of your bag has been occupied for two days”?
Why don’t they just add a forge recipe to let us throw those map fragments in to get something, like a karma jug. Guess most people can live with that.
(edited by Hologramx.6402)
It is reasonable. You can’t just hit two birds with one stone. Leveling your toon while receiving the same reward as a level 80 is not some sort of privilege. Besides, even with the side-kicking system, you are weaker, deal much less damage, contribute less, die more easily and might have wasted many hands trying to rezz you but got to be killed themselves. The side-kicking is for those who does not have a level 80 yet.
Edit: Precursor for non-level 80s or even trial account is a joke. They need to code things more carefully.

Sad thing is I already have all bank slots expanded and my bank is always full. It is giving me headache everyday what to dispose and what to stay. I was expecting they let us buy more bank tabs in this patch but nothing. Looks like they don’t want us to buy anymore gems. :p
The last item we got is a partial map of the new level 80 zone. Since it is already open, I wonder what’s next. If there is a sequel and it is supposed to happen on that island, as the clue supposed to indicate, then there is no point to do this phase 1 with any character below level 80. We need some sort of clarification to make our decision. I had a lot of fun running all my low level toons around Tyria in the Halloween event, but I am just not sure if I should run these tedious errands with them this time.
I think he means Phase 3, since we already know Phase 2 is basically open of the new map.
I am wondering too. Is it worth to do phase 1 with my other alts? Or I should only keep it to one character. If there is no sequel or anything in phase 3 is going to end up with some miserable rewards, I would certainly want to save my time doing phase 1 with other alts. Keeping secret for events is okay but there are situations that does not apply, or it would end up with lots of frustration and whines all over the forum.
Was trying to solve this myself but I can’t find any tips in the Sworn Statement from Canach (after Noll and Canach was fixed today) to go to a general NPC who has been at the forge since release. Besides, although there is star symbol on her, since the only information you received about her is the donation thing, you took it for granted that you talked to her to buy the donation package. That’s all.
There is NOTHING in the game to tell you that she starts an investigation or follows the chains of the phase 1 investigation. You expect us to find this out within a few hours searching thing BLINDLY? We had to seek dulfy’s info to get the help. That’s why most of us not doing the Miyani’s investigation while we stuck on Noll or Canach. Not to mention that we also saw a lot of bugged reports on the forum about NPCs stuck in the Miyani’s chain that we thought we would encounter in the next step.
Now you just disable them and say “Sorry, it is gone.”? The first word that crosses my mind is “Irresponsible”. Not even consideration on enabling them again? Just “It’s over!”? Unbelievable.
The Karka attack has a much smaller scale than the yesterday one. It only lasted 5-10 minutes on the server I was on, so it can be shorter if there are a lot more people on your server. My server was not so much crowded. And maybe the completion of the catapult killed them instantly, idk, but they despawned rather quickly. Besides, they seem to drop nothing, so not much an issue if you missed it.

The veteran mobs are hard to melee because of their long knock down. I find it useful to ranged kite + dodge while soloing, but still take a long time because of their health pool and armor.
After all, the place is a lot better than Cursed Shore. I don’t see any particular environmental CC yet and the mobs can be avoided much more easily. Their CCs are mostly melee so as long as you keep your distance, it is not so hard running around to harvest or mine.
Many mobs in the new map are level 83 or level 84.
Make sure you have enough precision on your gear or you will deal very little damage. With enough precision, you can deal normal damage like 1K or 2K+, but without that, you probably deal much less, like 100+ or 200+. In that case, you won’t be able to receive credit for any kills or events if there are a lot of people dealing much more damage.
If you have done the level 65 dragon at level 60 or lower (which many would have since it is near the level 60 hearts), you would have had the same experience already.
It is hard to find the ingredients in the bulk list of recipes in cooking.
Here is an easy implement that can make it a lot better.
When you open a recipe, where it shows you the ingredients, currently you can right click on the ingredient to “Buy more at trading post”. Add one submenu “Search” to that popup and it will paste the name in the search box. Would be better if that text show up in the Search box if you simply double-click it.
I think it will improve the cooking experience greatly because currently you have to type so many times to find a specific ingredient, and for high level recipes, it will get nested and you need to type a lot more to finally get everything ready for just one specific recipe to be ready.
Bugged on an overflow server. I switched to home server (Jade Quarry) and still bugged. In both cases, the event (Defeat Canach to find out what he knows) to defeat him is in progress but he is friendly, cannot be harmed.
I thought this event only means something before the weekend is over? If they don’t fix it now, then we are supposed to ignore what happens and go straight to the new map?
This is going to make things so kitten ugly.
Maybe they should maket things add up so you get 1 point for each level 1 cleared, 2 points for level 2 and etc. In that case, it won’t be a waste for someone in level 2 to run a level 1 again since you can run 2x level 1 to get score for one level 2. If your final destination is a higher level, they won’t make much difference.
I think their dungeon instances are built within a server, not global.
So if anyone got DC’ed, unless they can get into the same LA/overflow server where you started the dungeon, you can never get into the same dungeon instance.
This happened in current non-fractal dungeons already, but since most dungeon entrances are in maps that usually do not need overflow anymore, you don’t see it. But if the dungeon entrance is in LA, which you get into overflow constantly, this is a serious problem.
I would suggest they make the Asura gate in LA to teleport you to a location near the new map (not in the new map because there will be a lot of players in that zone, probably a neighboring map would be better) then you enter another gate or talk to an NPC there to enter the FotM dungeon.
(edited by Hologramx.6402)
I have never seen an MMO that requires you to login at the same time to get into the same instance, not to mention that it is still not 100% guaranteed. Besides, we did this and the dungeon entrance was gone though we got into the same overflow.
The problem is not whether the dungeon is there or not.
If your group members are in different overflow servers, you can’t get into the same instance. The other members in different overflow servers won’t get the “Join your group in FotM?” dialog.
Change the FotM lobby to be where you group up maybe a better idea because it will have a lot less chance to have overflow. Players do not stay there long and not everyone in LA is running FotM.
There is a basic design flaw in the dungeon grouping system.
You need to be in the same server to enter the dungeon as a group.
LA is where you get into overflow server constantly (especially on weekends), which means even you form a group, your group members would have a very high chance to be in different servers and they entered different instances. We just got split up after the LA event and we got into different FotM. After relog, none of us can get into FotM anymore because the ‘new’ overflow server seems to be generated AFTER the event and there is no dungeon entry at that overflow server.
Even if we can get into an overflow server with a dungeon entry, there is no guarantee that all 5 members get into the same overflow server after relog or map change.
Currently you only receive the “Join Dungeon with your party?” confirmation when you are in the same map (same server) with the member trying to enter. For other dungeons, since their entrances are on map that usually does not have overflow servers (except CM in the first few weeks), this is not such a serious problem, but with FotM, this is going to happen constantly because the dungeon entrance is in LA.
We need to be able to join our member entering dungeon regardless of what server we are on.
After today’s patch, I am experiencing two events rewarding nothing at all after completed them. Never seen this before. I don’t remember the first one because I thought it might be my mistake, but when I saw the second one, I am pretty sure that this is a bug. The second one is an event to rescue 4 prisoners from harpies in a village (Tanglerot Hills) in Fields of Ruin. After I brought them to the Ebon Vanguard scouts outside, the scouts talks and the event log on the top right of the screen just vanished! Nothing. No reward, no medal. I was the only one doing the event and rescued all 4 captives. My character is level 48 and it is a level 37ish event.
Please investigate and fix this. It is frustrating to get nothing after spending 20 minutes or more soloing an event.
(edited by Hologramx.6402)
I have 2 level 80s but I have not been to Orr for weeks. Not even interested in the Orichalcum ores anymore. Just not fun to be in that place. And you can only see either a lot of people at one place repeating the same DE or no one else. I have a lot more fun leveling my alts in low to mid level zones.
Another ultimate insane respawn point.
It is a POI called Moldary Point in the North of Valslake in Snowden Drifts. It is not that hard if you only want to get the POI, but if you want to mine the rich silver node, you are going to die many times, still extremely hard with two people. 1 Golem + 3 mobs + 4 mobs near entrance, all respawn at insane rate. It is just endless kill until you get the veteran golem down. They should throw all the bots here and bots will be welcome by all of us.
I suggest they make it simply a bubble text with no dialog if there is only one choice (close the dialog) in the dialog box. Some NPCs have this crown/fist/heart options and they should work only once per 3 minutes or so.
It is more serious in caves for POI or skill challenges when someone bring you a train and let you die. You have nowhere to avoid those mobs. Thet jerk maybe a high level or a heavy armored class that he has no problem of being hit, but can get you killed very easily. Some people even ‘pushes’ the mobs to you intentionally by approaching you and run away with speed buff. One of the worst part of GW2.
Engineer is supposed to be one of the best class for tagging with grenades. Other than the tool bet skill with decent damage, you have an AoE auto attack.
Problem is, probably you are at a wrong place. If you are farming in Cursed Shore or wherever lots of AoE people are doing the same thing, everyone would be complaining unable to tag because it is simply overpopulated. Swamps of mobs dying in a few seconds are not supposed to be the objective of the events. It is kind of design flaw to let such thing happen. Players are supposed to spread across the map, not everyone at one location for easy farm.
Playing Elementalist right after release is not so bad. Dynamic Events are always flooded with players so you hardly need to solo. But now, elementalist is probably the last profession you want to play since you are ought to solo most of the events and skill points challenges. Elementalist works fine in a group, but is terrible at soloing, i.e. you are going to have a lot of problems in those warrior-orientated story quests.
You should start a warrior or ranger as your first character. Make things much easier if you already know what is waiting ahead. If you prefer caster, mesmer is much easier with a dps build because you have your illusion tanking for you constantly and it is as tricky as playing an elementalist.
He has a Killing Shot that ignores LoS. Three time I was one shot by his killing shots while I was behind a pillar. Apparently he understands LoS because he tried to move to me if I am behind the pillar. The problem is, when he starts casting Killing Shot and you are in LoS at that moment, he will always shoot you even you are already out of LoS when he finished his cast and start shooting. If LoS is finalized at the start of a cast, it is pointless to move away from LoS.
It displays the shortest route to the story entry point. What’s the story step name?
Sorry I don’t remember the name of the quests but they are all level 22ish Norn and Charr’s story quest and the destinations are all on the west side of Snowden Drifts. I think any story quest that asks you to somewhere on the west side of that map will result in asking you to go to the Cendarian Field route. I suggest the path generator to omit paths that will lead you through a zone with higher level than the story quest. Or at least show the zone name of the destination on the story quest because if it is an unvisited area, you can’t see the border line and you have no idea which map it is in.
3 of my characters have their story quests asking them to go to Snowden Drifts at level 22ish. However, the route are all redirecting you to Iron’s Arch, then pass Cendarion Fields, which is level 25-35 and there are a lot of level 30ish mobs that is unavoidable. This is definitely a wrong direction to go to. This needs to be addressed and changed to the route through Hoelbrak and Wayfarer Foothills. This can be very insulting to new players since they don’t know the route and would probably follow the anchor blindly, running into a suicide zone.
BTW I tried to report this as a bug in game, but I cannot find any sub-area that I can include this. There should be a General or Misc Sub Area in the bug report form.
Please add Down Skills and Profession Specific Skills (such as skills of Death Shroud for Necromancer), both land and underwater, into the Weapon Skills Page, or add a page to contain them. These skills only last a very short time and usually you don’t have plenty of time to read the skills. And when you play many classes, you need to revise which skill is on which key and the tooltips of these skill icons is only visible in very specific situation.
And definitely you don’t expect us to play the game with the must of wiki pages.

If they want to keep this sort of unworthy champion events, at least they need to provide achievement entries for each of them. There are only a few boss achievements but we don’t even know what to do from the titles. Currently spending 30 minutes trying to kill a champion only gives you +1 in your total event counts, which can be obtained much more easily with anything else within 30 seconds.
So many events with endless enemies. 10+ mobs capturing a camp, you killed till 3 left, then suddenly another 4 respawns from nowhere. You killed half of them, now another 10 respawns. I have just experienced 3 of these in one single day. Unbelievable. Makes me feel like I am not playing a game but simply wasting my time and forced to grind all the way to level 80. Did they say we are not supposed to grind? What’s all these endlessly respawning mobs for? Usually I have to wait until a high level (usually a level 80 trying to complete the map) to have that event completed. All these events are simply balanced for level 80s, not titled as group event but extremely hard to solo at appropriate level. And most of all, not fun at all if you have to keep doing the same thing killing waves of mobs. Waste of time and just boring amd frustrating.
metrica province is probably the most outrageous when it comes to spawns. For the northwestern skill point (the fire elementals), there are some skale, including a veteran nearby. Normally this wouldn’t be an issue, clear, and move to tackle challenge. The real challenge is trying to keep all the skale, drake, and veterans dead as you take on the challenge. 10 seconds later, in the middle of a fire barrage and dodging, who shows up? The veteran of course, with 3 more in tow. If ur of lvl, hahahahahaha. Prepare to lose a lot of gear. I think MP is so bad is because it probably got less testing than the other zones. And MP doesn’t even COMPARE to Orr and other higher zones. I thought this game was for the player…solo players exist…and nothing pisses off solo players more than having to kill the same bullkitten mob again 10 seconds later. This isn’t a challenge, this is assinine
I had the exactly same experience trying to solo this skill point with my level 20ish character. Cleared the skales 4 times and I still ended up fighting the SP mobs with all the skales adding from respawn. Finally I had to give up after killing one SP trash and wait for someone else to finish the rest so I still get the credit while I stayed in the area. That SP is balanced for level 80, I would say.
I also had bronze a few times even though I am the only one doing the event.
One of the case is an escort event. There was a level 80 (probably) around (on the other side of the hills) who were killing irrelevant mobs at tremendous speed but he is also in the event area, while I killed all the event mobs assaulting the caravan. I ended up as bronze probably his damage outweighs mine terribly.
The other one I remember is also an event that I soloed, but I arrived when the event is already halfway but all defending NPCs were down. I revived them and finished it solo and I only got a bronze. For this one, I think the NPC kills is outweighing mine.
There are also some events that killing trashes do not count, so if some level 80 kills the boss quickly while you tried to help by killing the trashes around, you can only get a bronze.
And there is the OP’s case too. You killed veterans or tons of mobs when the event objective is to destroy some structures or return some items. If you are doing the part of helping those to complete the event by clearing the area, sometimes you can get a bronze or silver. I think it is a balancing issue though.
I think we deserve a Gold if we are the only one involved in the event and killing event mobs should have more weights than killing irrelevant mobs.
(edited by Hologramx.6402)
You are missing the point.
Game design should be focused on balance in the first place.
Failure of an easy event leads to an extremely hard event never makes sense.
It is like if you fail to kill an easy first boss in a dungeon, you are given an option to kill another boss which is much more difficult in all aspects. That’s dumb.
Why must it be a champion? Why not a veteran?
Looks like it is based on some individual thoughts like ’I want a champion here. So be it!".
That place is simply not fun at all. That’s why I never want to play my level 80. Worst part is the environmental snares that has a wide area but you can do nothing with. I could do mining and harvesting for half a day in the endgame zones of WoW although the nodes may be taken but it is still fun moving around the zone, but in GW2, even the nodes are always there for you, tbh I don’t feel like going. And the cost traveling to Orr is also something that make you stop going there. I’d rather play in somewhere else although it may take much more time to earn the same amount of gold. Looks like Orr is designed for farmers and bots who lack feeling.
Instead of Monthly, it should be weekly otherwise it only has effect in the beginning of the month.
They can also show us a list of available server (map) list for you to choose when entering a low population map. The list will let you see the number of players in each map so you can make your choice. This can be applied to high level zones too, because the level 70079 zones are pretty much the same as low level zones too.
Have never see him for two months since release. Then suddenly I was seeing him spawning three times in a day when Halloween started (Phase 1). Then not anymore again after that phase ended. Pretty weird because it is easy to spot the event (its a huge red event ring) if you are around and you usually spend a few hours in that area when leveling your alts.
They need to clarify how to trigger the event so at least we can help them to fix if it is not working as intended. The Fire Elemental event starts consistently but not this one. Human starter zone always has a lot more players so it is strange that you can hardly see this event. Definitely something needs to be done here.
There is an event that you need to rescue captives by killing their captors near Blackroot Cut. It is pretty easy. However, if you fail it, the chain will lead you to kill a Champion to defeat him before he slain all the captives.
There was no one doing it when I was around, and it was too late before I reached to help the captives. Then it leads me to the Champion event.
If there is not enough people to complete the easy part, how do you expect someone to finish the failed part which becomes kitten very hard? If it is a veteran, it is understandable, but not a champion. This completely makes no sense.
The combat is seriously broken, hard to consider playable in many situation. Constantly you get into a combat state permanently after the mob returns to its position fully healed, leaving you in half health permanently as well. Depends on your healing skill, it may take 3 cool downs to fully healed. That’s when you are lucky that no other mobs are around or respawn while your healing skill is on cool down. Sometimes you just die from condition damage while everything is on cool down.
Other MMOs consider you out of combat even condition damage still ticking on you, if your opponent is out of combat. For this game, this does not work, and there is no other way to heal except your only healing skill. They should work thoroughly on resolving this before adding anymore new content. You can have your health left on 50% for an hour if you don’t heal it. In combat permanently with nothing should be compensated with a short timer.
(edited by Hologramx.6402)
Maybe you will get something like a Senior Explorer title in the future for completing the next tier, which requires you to explore all the new zones till the title is available.
I have 8 characters and their soulbound items are messing up my bank tabs. Most of them cannot be disposed until they are level 80. And I cannot buy any more bank tabs because the maximum tabs you can have is only 8. This game has the smallest number of bank slots in every MMOs I played in character base. The account shared part is great, but the not-a-single-space-for-character part is a big trouble. Just one private tab for each character would be greatly appreciated.
I think the system is fine except two things that need to be addressed:
(1) Downscale should be based on gear level, not player level. Currently you are usually weaker at level 25 than at level 20 if downscaled because your best gear won’t be available until you reach level 26. This repeats every 6 levels (except level 35/50 where you can have crafted gears but they are expensive to craft).
(2) Light/medium armor profession can be pretty fragile after downscaled, especially for those who relies heavily on pets/minions to tank because they don’t have exotic armors and their stats does not scale well with your traits unless specced. A heavy armor class can solo a low level champion even after downscaled, but it is quite hard for the others.
Annoying if you have this option turned on when challenging some of the difficult vistas or JP. Maybe they could give us a key customization to toggle this feature,. then it is an easy and quick toggle when you need them in a specifically hard jump which requires precise adjustment, and you don’t want your adjustment to become an unintended dodge.
Completely agree with this. Have thought of suggesting this weeks ago (recently I am tired of reporting bugs or suggesting because I can hardly see any of them being reflected on the patch). Most MMOs do this. If you have reported them, you definitely don’t want to see them spamming your chat again.
Well they need a time sink for other players to reach the boss before he gets killed.
Otherwise, when you see an event boss on your map, you run there with top speed, and it may end before you reach him. This needs not to be in dungeon though, if there are no specific boss mechanics related with boss health.
I always regret rezzing guys after I realize they were AFK, even in some impossible areas that you never want to park your character. Wasted my time running there and broke their gears too.
Something like an acknowledge dialog after you are being rezzed would be nice to resolve this matter, so you still can get rezzed but it won’t get into effect until you are back from AFK. Oh I mean only in PvE. (It will become an exploit in PvP)
(edited by Hologramx.6402)
I think they are just lack of ideas and it seems that they don’t listen much to suggestions. I have seen so many good suggestions in the forum and many of them are pretty practical and easy to implement but I can hardly see them being added into the game yet. The incoming what they called “Major Patch” would be the last time I evaluate on their stance and if they still don’t implement things that usually available in many other MMOs, well ..
To help those underpopulated low and mid-level zones, ideas like “Finish 5 Events each in 10 different maps” can be added to the Monthly Achievement. There are many other possible ideas if they really understand the situation around the world they built. But not dungeons at this point. At least they need an LFG UI and make the dungeon run more balanced, worthy and bug-free for the majority of casual player base. Currently it is mostly a place for people to farm gold.
