I think they should keep the old AC and add the new AC as Expert mode, which gives you some extra tokens for ascended gear. The old AC is still a nicely balanced dungeon for new/casual/low-level players, why just dispose it? What a waste. More options is always better than none. This is an MMO and this should be what you do to meet the needs of a large variety of players.

Don’t underestimate RL. What you see maybe only a small part of it.
If you do believe in reincarnation, then it is a RPG with a trillion times of scale comparing with GW2, both in time and dimension base.
You might play a squishy class in this life, but who knows? You may play an OP class next life. The only restriction is you have to finish one before starting another one. You might not see your earned karma, but you probably need a lot of them to choose a class you want in next life. If you end up with no karma, you would probably have a few choices to be born in a land of war or poverty where you don’t even have a chance to see a computer to get to know GW2.
Well I do like the way to be able to get back home in a glimpse in GW2 without wasting hours in a packed train. And best of all, you can reset or quit anytime with least concern for responsibility.

Hard to define exploits. If ANet decides their definitions, well …
But it is reasonable to be banned for losing conscience or common sense, even there is no rule about it.
If a shopping site has tagged a computer to be $5 instead of $500 which it should be, do you order 100 of that computer and insist you have the rights to receive them? Maybe you can still win by starting a law suit, but certainly you will never be welcome as a customer from anywhere.

I have not logged for more than a week after getting sick of FotM mechanics, realizing I was only being tricked and fooled by the tweaks of some numbers for agony while I keep myself repeating the same daily run.

Before that, I have been doing daily achievements since launch but I don’t feel myself being anywhere closer to Legendary other than some golds. But honestly, those golds are not anything you can be proud of because you can get them easily in a glimpse by spending a small amount of real money, and that is not anything fun at all. I feel like I have wasted so much time doing those dailies for nothing, well, maybe some achievement points, but still nothing close to the ultimate goal, the Legendary, not even one for all my alts. I don’t want to buy it, I want to play the game for it.

I hope they would take this into consideration so that if you keep doing dailies, hopefully not only in dungeons, but also in everywhere of Tyria, you receive consistent rewards to bring you closer to the ultimate goal. And I think that is where horizontal progression goes, if they still stick on it.

It is how you spend years in games like WoW, doing dailies everywhere for faction reputations, then use them to enrich you game life in many aspects, like unique crafting recipes, skins, enchantments, mini-pets, etc. Currently in GW2 most of these are obtainable with just gold or gems, which actually needs no effort if you are willing to spend real money to skip those real fun of progression in acquiring them.

It is just about lazy programming.
Reward based on amount of damage dealt. Job done.
You can see things like this all over the game.
Almost every event has the same reward regardless of their difficulties and time required.
That’s also why RNG dominates the game because a single call to random() and job is done.
Their map designers did great works but …

Zone: Timberline Falls
Event: Slay the Risen that have spread into Serpent Stones

Catapults hits you 0.5 second after the red ring on the ground appears, knock you down for 3 seconds or so. Multiple catapults, multiple risen mobs + other mobs, including veteran. I was wondering if I was playing a network game. How are you going to avoid something that hit you in 0.5 second? Even harder than high level FotM! Consecutive knockdown acts like chain CC in Orr that can kill you while you are unable to do anything at all.

Tons of these are still in the game after 4 months. That’s why there are so many maps are empty although the scenery and map design are fantastic. Do they have a team to look into all these imbalances?

And the “supposed-to-be-veteran” spider guarding skill point in Ural’s Delve still has a champion’s health and hit like champion, the entrance to the skill point in Candle Chimney still has extremely high density of mobs + quick respawn after 3 months when I first reported them in game.

It is horrible that you can’t tab target them if they are not within range, while auto target can pick up anything out of range when fighting a mob right in front of you. The targeting system in this game is the worst I have ever seen, not to mention that nothing has been done since release.

Extremely Buggy.
It constantly shows you the complete info of other zones, or wrong info (such as 0/13 although you are 3/13).

The problem is, most events are not worth to do anymore, even when leveling, except some really easy one that can be completed quickly, or to fill the heart while you do it. Even for a level 80 trying to get 100% map completion, you can simply skip all events unless they help contributing to fill the hearts nearby. The rewards are almost ignorable considering inflation and how much you can earn from a dungeon run. Event may take 20 minutes or so to complete, but you can get 100 times of reward by spending that 20 minutes in any dungeon.

My only reason to do event is now:
(1) It helps to fill the heart
(2) You need a few more for the dailies
(3) For pure fun if you have never done it before

They need to add something special in the reward or event will die when more people start to realize that they are not worth doing at all. Maybe 1 FotM token per event or 5 dungeon tokens (related to that zone) per event might help a lot to fill the map with casual players who dislike or have hard time in dungeons.

Does event need luck? Like opening a chest from the BLTC?
I don’t think it is luck. It is simply event created, but never been properly tested.

You can find many of them around the world. If you are a warrior or guardian, some of them maybe soloable, but definitely not for most other professions.

Just pick up another one right near LA.

Destroy Psylithium Generator to free Quaggan prisoners
in Bloodtide Coast.

Maybe you can spend an hour simply hit and run to destroy the generators because there will be nearly 10 mobs aggroed the moment you hit them, swimming faster than you and also with some long range weapon that hit hard. I am guess killing the shark (which is a group event) can be easier, although I have never seen anyone completing these two after leveling in this zone after the first month (when there were a lot of players around).

Loots in story quest despawn too fast

I was doing the Hilek chain to protect their caves in Bloodtide Coast. There are so many enemies but I managed to kill them all, leaving like 20+ loots on the ground then the final boss spawned. I killed him but after cinematic and dialogues, everything despawned except the boss drops.

This also happened in many other story quests that automatically brought to cinematic that you cannot cancel, as well as dialog that may last a while and you don’t want to skip, then everything despawned after that because it takes a while.

Please extend the despawn time for loots, especially in story quest. We don’t like losing what I deserved, especially in difficult fight like that.

Unable to buy anything from SEARCH result.

Suppose you input Plush Griffon Tonic and Hit Search button.
You get the result and can go through the pages.
But the cursor keeps showing as a spining wheel and you can’t buy anything. You can select an item but double-clicking would never work. This will continue forever, like a forever “Loading….” situation in old times browsers.

Retried it several times and same result.
Looks like this happens much more frequently at peak hours.

So, where is the truth?
At least, we can assume that the tool tips in the game for retaliation can be considered 100% wrong from our common sense. We need a clarification or fix for the tool tips because it is kittening misleading. If it is supposed to “Reflect a portion of the incoming damage based on your power”, let the tool tips describe it as so. You can’t let a misleading tool tips stay in the game for 4 months and still doing nothing.

You need to consider players playing with their alts too.

For regular dungeon, you can run with an alt easily instead of always running with the same character. But for FotM, it is just impossible. Many high levels have extra ascended rings enough for their alts and their alts have just the same gear and skills but not the required level. If you want people to keep playing with FotM, you need to provide higher feasibility for their alts too. People would be bored very quickly if you must stick to the same character. Also, for higher tiers, it is usually a lot better to have variety of profession in your group, which means your alts can become better choice in many runs.

Maybe showing a character FotM level along with an account Max FotM level might be better considering PuG cases.

Since AR is almost mandatory in high level FotM, I agree that we should be able to be informed the AR and levels of other players considering PuG.

How about showing AR and FotM level on the player tooltips? It is also helpful even at current situation. Certainly you don’t want to take the risk if you see more than one player has no or low AR when running high level FotM, and you can also know you can count on high level helping to do their low level dailies.

I am glad that finally we got some answers. I understand that the recovery from disconnection problem would need some time due to technical issues. However, the level restriction solution should not be so hard to make the change. Do we really need to wait until the end of January for BOTH of them to come at once? Can’t we just have the level restriction solution come first? I don’t think the change would need more than a week of work. At least it helps a lot for us to help and work with guild mates as well as leveling alts so we don’t have to stuck to playing the same character over and over.

I used up 250 each trying to get the potion and failed, leaving myself mats only for just 1 frame. It also still takes up 10 of my bank slots. I can’t make my choice if situation stays like this stalemate. Looks like my Wintersday is gonna end before even X’mas arrives.

Toypocalyse is fun and I would repeat it like the Mad King dungeon if it rewards something that we all long for.

They should drop in Toypocalypse, and in a decent drop rate.

Currently I don’t see any reason to repeat Toypocalypse once you finished the achievement. You can’t play with friends, and the present you receive isn’t any better than those in the field, not to mention that you lose the chance to loot present boxes if the guy created the instance leaves or d/c. I have just experienced this and it is extremely disheartening, considering that you lose your only reward for all the time spent.

Can be a bug or they added a stealth achievement for simply talking to Tixx in LA.

Sorry my bad. Looks like it increases 2 points in the achievement instead.

Rate FOTM from Hardest to Easiest

I think it is pointless to rate them in general.
Their difficulties differ a lot with levels and groups. Some are extremely hard with a PuG but easy with a guild run who can coordinate, while some does not make much difference while in PuG or guild group. It also varies with the people involved, some depends on profession composition too.

Useless Ascended Rings

I think they should remove the Bound on Use and stick to only Account Bound. It makes us easier to replace ring and give the old one to alts because you ought to use any ring regardless of its stats simply for the infusion. Currently I have no intention to run FotM with any of my alts although I have 6 level 80s because of this. How stupid would it be if you have to run all over again for RNG to get any ring for the infusion? I We should be able to recycle our ring while optimizing the stats for our profession.

Well the problem is very clear.

They give an exam to everyone that ranges from 6 year-old kids to 70 year-old people in the aspect of their abilities in Jumping puzzle and everyone has to finish it within the same clock.

A seasonal event achievement should be something to prove that you have attended, not something you can do or not. The PvP one is exactly the same. Some people can finish it within a few hours while some others would never even able to even get one count after 20 hours of play.

The reason to promote everyone to level 80 for the event dungeon is to make them capable to complete it, i.e. be able to participate. It becomes something you want to do or not, instead of something you cannot do if you are still low level.

They should make the achievement for JP and PvP the same. Currently these 2 are what you can do or not, not what you want to do or not.

Played an hour and not even get any one of achievements updated.
It is full of frustration if you need to play to get your achievement.

I have played MMO for 8 years and have enjoyed many seasonal events, always happy with them. I don’t remember having frustration with seasonal events until GW2. The JP in Halloween can be skipped so I still has the achievement. But for Wintersday, if you skip JP + these 2 PvP one, you can’t make to 12. I hate PvP and timed JP (I love JP which are untimed!). I believe that there are many players feel the same.

Please reduce the required achievements to 10 or 11. Don’t force your customers to do things they dislike, please, not in a seasonal event that everyone should be happy.

I could clear Griffonrook Run without any problem. Zero frustration. Because it is not timed so it is really fun. I could even stop anywhere to view the great scenery created by their artists.

Wintersday JP is 10/10 frustration. It is not challenging if not timed. I have 0/10 fun because of the time. There is no scenery that you can enjoy while being pushed by time. Anything like this is 0/10 fun and 10/10 frustration, that’s why some people wants to fool others after completed them. They aren’t actually happy for completing, instead of some hidden frustration they don’t even realize themselves. It is like you are given a luxurious dinner but you need to finish eating them in 1 minute or it will be confiscated.

The time constraint ruins all the fun that many players could have attained. This is the cheap game style in some old games that only have a small number of stages so they have to time it and make you start all over again to prolong the life of the game.

The problem with their RNG system is, it is something like 0 or 100. Either you get nothing or a lot. A good RNG is something that requires constant effort but only varies within a specific range. Suppose you need 100 tokens for a specific item and buying a gift box would always give you 10 to 50 tokens in random, that would be a reasonable system because you are guaranteed to get one within 10 tries and if you are lucky enough you need only 2 boxes to get it. While in current system, it is possible that you buy 10000 boxes and still get nothing because you share the randomizing factor with many others.

Current system is simply lottery or gamble. The infamous style in most Korean F2P MMOs. Now you know who runs the game. Well it is your choice after all.

Never hear anyone talking about Engineer is OP in PvE or WvW. In fact IMO Engineer is one of the weakest professions in PvE. AFAIK there are very few player playing sPvP. So they are balancing things around something that like less than 10% of the player base are interested in? Sounds ridiculous.

I have been reluctant to level my Enginner (now level 56) before the patch because he is so fragile and can only contribute in limited situation. With this patch, I am not going to touch him again. I played all classes (lowest level is around 40) and already have 5 level 80s so I am not in favor of any specific classes, but I think this nerf is just insane. Sigil contributes very little when leveling. And any other tools except grenades are only useful in specific circumstances that you really don’t want to put them in your utility skill slot constantly, i.e. grenades is the only versatile toolkit Engineer has and taking it away simply means a death penalty to the class.

WTB sigil for low mid levels with 30% damage increment within 5 silver.

Winter Wonderland Jumping Puzzle Debacle

It is simply like a 100 meter race that requires you to complete in 12 seconds. If you are still not at the finishing line by that 12 seconds, you are kicked back to the starting line. The design of the JP is good but the implementation is just a no brainer.

Easy for you does not mean easy for everyone.

They can time you but still let you complete the JP at your own pace. Then give you reward according to your time. In that case, if you are good at this, you would probably try it a lot more to get a better time, instead of finish it in one or two try then started to fool others in the forum because you are done.

You really want to fool your customers?

This JP thing depends heavily on your reflex. It is like some action shooting game. Some people can make it to stage 10 easily but some can’t even make it to stage 3. And you are giving them the same activity to ask them to complete. As a general fact, young people are much better in this but the elders aren’t. However, the elders are the richer who would probably pay more and buy more gems for the game. But you are treating everyone as a young who has the reflexes of a teenage.

Time should not be the decisive factor to complete the puzzle.
You can time us but don’t fail the puzzle.
Instead give us different grade of reward/achievement according to time taken.
Maybe a ranking chart for good players to compete their time record would be best to please them, since that’s what keep them repeating.

Currently timed content would probably only please less than 10% of the player base. Go and watch those low level FotM players in the Giant fractal and see how long it takes them to finish the JP and how many times they would fall. High level FotM players would always say it is piece of cake, but are they designed only for like 5% of the player base?

Why create something to please no one?
People who think everyone can jump as good as themselves would always brag how easy to complete it and claims “too easy”, while many other people would only get frustrated for not even able to go through halfway of it. There should be 3 difficulty levels by adjusting the time limit with a bit different rewards, but all reward the same achievement. I am so disappointed with them for repeating the same mistake. What a waste of good resources. Are you expecting everyone to run a marathon in 2 hours and 30 minutes?

Generally I’d prefer
a) A lot more communication
b) More fixes, less content until the most urgent stuff is fixed

Agree. Quality over Quantity is better.
I also prefer them to be more frank to us. If things need to be postponed, let us know beforehand so we can adjust. I think the majority would understand their efforts.

I think they will fix this anytime. Previously it was possible to mine Orichalcum with a master pick below level 60 but they fixed it in a later patch. Pretty sure this is going to happen soon or later.

With combo, anyone can be sort of healer.
If you can create any combo field (especially water and light), others can use combo finishers to heal/buff others. If you can’t, you can simply use your combo finishers when the combo field is built. Everyone can be a healer. Everyone can be a tank. Everyone can dps. You may say, we always have multiple healers, multiple tanks in GW2. This is far more interesting than the traditional Trinity system once you find out how it works. Even a ‘tank’ can contribute so much healing for everyone!

It is not the mechanic. It is the reward system that is broken.

Group events that guarantee a splendid chest (preferably also with a chain that gives you reward of multiple events in a short time) do not have such problem. Any other group events that do not provide such bonuses are simply pointless if you have already done it once. You may end up failing the event after 20-30 minutes, and the reward is less than 1s + an expensive repair bill.

Group or not, some events are very hard and take more than 20 minutes to complete but give you the same reward as an event which can be completed in 10 seconds or so. Jumping into event for 10 seconds can reward you the exactly same amount of XP/karma/silver with anyone who has started it 20 minutes ago. All these are like a communist society. Whether you work or not does not matter. You only need to work a few hours to receive the same reward that is given to everyone. It is unfair and usually would only result in a recession of the society. Whoever realizes it would probably hesitate to run any event that is time costly.

In PvE, I think it is more important for the audience to decide whether he wants to see a commander mark, then the commander wants to show his pin. So, they should add an option “Show commander mark on map in PvE” for everyone. As simple as that. All problems solved.

Stuck at WvW loading screen.
After restarted the client, although it shows your character is back to his PvE map, it will still try to load the WvW map and the loading screen says “Unknown Borderland”. Still stuck there.

Since I have encountered so many WTF events, I think we need a list for them. Many of them have been reported months ago but seems that none of them are being taken care of.

Zone: Blazeridge Steppes
Event: Defend engineers rebuilding Brokentooth Maw

I was soloing the event. You have to protect both North and South gates so the engineers can finish repairing the gates. Waves of 4-5 mobs assaults the engineers at zero wait time. You killed them and they simply respawn in front of the gate instantly. Even if you managed to revive the engineer, he will be instantly killed by the respawn. It is endless! BTW this is only about one gate, while leaving another gate untouched.
And there are a few NPCs in the camp just watching, doing nothing.

There is another similar event in Kinar Fort Waypoint in the same zone. Some waves even comes before you killed the previous one, leaving you alone to face like 10 mobs at the same time.

For both of these, there are also occasionally a huge environmental AoE falls to the whole place which can kill you in 3-4 seconds if you don’t get out of it.

But still they need to fix this quickly. It is game breaking if you don’t know it still can be fixed in the Hero panel. Besides, it is happening frequently now and almost everyone in the party are experiencing the same issue. Some professions require frequent weapon swap in combat and this unreliability is killing the combat. You don’t always have time to open your hero panel to fix it in combat.

Dungeon tokens should be accumulated on a currency tab that lists all tokens. It is silly to need to keep them occupying your bags and bank tabs, split in 250 stacks. Many players want to pool them until their alts get to level 80, but so many types of tokens are taking up so much spaces in your bank and bags. Normally we should be happy to see the number of those tokens going up, but in this case, it becomes much more annoying to see more pile up.

Another problem is, there are currently 8 dungeons but the unlock of explorable mode is character based. If you run dungeons with multiple characters, it is very hard to keep track of which character has unlocked which dungeon. Suppose you have 3 level 80s who run dungeons constantly, that is 24 unlocks. You don’t want to travel to the dungeon to confirm it. Same for the levels of FotM. We should be able to confirm unlock or level of dungeons we have achieved on our character status window.

Unless it is a boss who drops really good stuffs, finding a strategical position to hit them while they can’t hit you is also part of the game strategies. I actually enjoyed this pretty much in many other MMOs. Well, in GW2, not even champion or veteran mob drops anything worthy now. Besides, they can hit you when you are in the surface while you have zero ability. They can knock you back down a cliff to cause you die instantly but we can’t. I enjoy doing this to mobs in SWTOR so much but in GW2 looks like we are the mobs. The game favors their mobs so much that I would say GW2 is a mob friendly MMO :P This makes killing mobs much more tedious. Now I just run past any mob unless I really need to kill them. Are they sure they want everyone to do this?

Same here. And if you try to change the direction, it will never stop turning thus your cannon is always pointing at east or west, where there is no enemy.

Got it completed when I just sat way behind the tanks AFKing for a long time.

I was able to harvest Orichalcum with Master Mining Pick a few weeks ago on a level 57. They nerfed it and I am not if it is possible now. But how can a Master Mining Pick and a Master Sickle be so much different in level. Not to mention that it is pointless to place so many nodes in the level 31-33 zone (South of Field of Ruins) where you can’t harvest by any tool you can buy in that zone. Darksteel tools are usually only required at the level 45+ zone.
Besides I have cleared this zone 6 times and I never needed a darksteel sickle to harvest anything in this zone.
I think they must have screwed up something when they nerfed the Master tools. They are supposed to be equal to the Black Lion tools and they are Masterwork class, while Orichalcum tools are only Fine.
