I was wondering about that myself. I’ve never seen it. Looks like basic landbound headgear for each armor level. Accidental leak?
The wardrobe in itself… sucks (sry to use this term but it sums it all). You cannot do previews on the skins before applying them for a charge. (well… Ohh you mean preview right in the middle of the screen?? Well when I want to apply a torch skin to my torch and it is at my belt… I cannot see what type of flames it produces. Same for some scepters and staffs. I also cannot see what I look like when I hold my weapon in my hand).
Yes, you can preview all of these things. There are checkboxes for “Wielded” and “weapon only” in the preview window. That’ll give you your particle effects etc. If you click on each armor piece you want in your bank storage, it will also add it to your preview. You can customize to your heart’s content without ever spending a charge.
I have the complete edition of the Mad Memoires, the flaming book from the first Halloween, and unfortunately I threw away the green incomplete version you required to obtain the complete edition. The first, green version of Mad Memoires was required along with more pages that were added in the Act 2 of the first Halloween to obtain the complete edition of the Mad Memoires, though both were left for separate use with the complete version having rare stats and better stats than the incomplete version.
There is no way someone out there is walking around with the complete version without having done Act 1’s quest on finding all the pages for the incomplete version of Mad Memoires. I think owning the complete version is enough evidence to support the ownership of the incomplete green version of the book back piece.
I do understand that my request could be denied since this is technically my fault, destroyed it after I got the flaming version, but having said what I said I’m still hopeful ArenaNet would reconsider an unlock for the first version of Mad Memoires if you own the complete version..
Also the Lidless Eye isn’t unlocked for owning the Eye of Rodgort! Please fix!
(Moved as moderator requested)
Here, here! Please change this!
Absolutely underwhelmed with patch. Not happy about getting shafted on at least 100 gold on dyes, i have dropped real dollars on gems and yesterday i get 271 unidentified dyes that sell for 22 silver ATM REALLY? Time to reevaluate why i play this game. Murphy s law applies here if its not broke don’t fix it Peace Out!
I understand where you’re coming from here, but from an objective viewpoint, you’ve lost nothing here, only gained. You got to use all your dyes while they were soulbound, you still get to use them. If you didn’t have every one of your dyes unlocked on every character, now you do. Benefit. In addition you get what equates to a 60G refund, which should cover MOST of your duplicate dyes, or can be put toward unlocking new colors you didn’t already have.
It does seem unfair that new players won’t have to put in the same time and/or money to unlock dyes across multiple characters, but it’s still really a win all around. I say be happy for the unexpected and strictly unnecessary refund.
You guys are right about the crafting bit, the green Mad Memoires wasn’t consumed when crafting the flaming complete version but still, it was required in Act 2 while retrieving the other pages.
Just thought owning the complete version is more than enough evidence to unlock the incomplete green version of the book, it’s impossible for someone to own the complete version otherwise.
The others are right about why it didn’t work. It’s not a direct part of the crafting process. However, I agree with you that it still constitutes evidence of having the first and hopefully this will come to a dev’s attention and they can issue some sort of skin-refund for you. Still, they would in a sense be justified in refusing since it was technically your mistake in destroying the original and the mechanics don’t allow for it currently. I’m pulling for you, though.
Seconded! My town clothes used to make me look like a kitten half-demon luchador. Now…. well, now I don’t.
Play the game, maybe? I do no farming and have never suffered from a shortage of gold, even though I net maaaaaaybe an hour and a half of game time each week, if I’m lucky. Just take part in current events and enjoy yourself, the gold will come.
Black Lion Salvage Kit?
I’m not mad, I have enough space to handle them (especially with the addition of wardrobe), but I’m also curious about when the blade shard merchant will be rolling around. Maybe one of the NPCs from LS season 2?
My Guardian. Finally get to use my jade greatsword skin without losing my greatsaw.
Man, I got plenty of ROMs. I uber-clock my DPU in RADE so i can pwn my HDDHSdD on troll noobs . 500 GiggaWatts of ROM, 2000 MilliClocks of CGP, 7500 PetaJoules of Amps. 20 gigs ain’t nothin. I play 20 gigs on like one Friday.
I think you’re getting ROM confused with RAM and your GPU and CPU clock speeds :P
Thanks for coming. Try again.
Nah man, only part I messed up was my MilliClocks. It’d be ludicrous if I only had 2000 MilliClocks. Clearly I meant 20000.

Starting with the update yesterday my map chat has been messed up. It seems like I can see everyone else’s messages, but cannot send any of my own. I’ll type up a message and hit enter to post it like normal, but nothing shows up in map chat. Conversation continues like normal without me.

There has been no mention of when this npc will appear, I hope they add him in today’s patch so i can free up 53 slots from my bank >.<
That… that is just too many blade shards.
Although, now that I think about it, if I hadn’t scrapped seven stacks I’d have 16 myself.
I feel for you and can relate as well with 5.3K hrs since early access(and BETAS as well), I can’t prove it but I believe there is an account RNG conspiracy. {:-þ -LOL
8 hours a day every day since release? O.O
I don’t understand… are they destroying the existing town clothes in character inventories?
I really don’t understand why you guys are hoarding absurd amounts of laurels.
I can understand hoarding 100 or so. But 500?
Do you honestly think Anet is going to come out with an item that can be bought with that many laurels?
Most of them probably don’t have that many characters to gear.
It’s not that they’re hoarding them but that they don’t have any use for them.
Anyone can sell dyes!

I guess I wouldn’t call getting all monthlies plus dailies like every day but 20 or so over the last year and a half casual. Then again, that comes from someone who only has time to play for about 2 hours a week.
Today is a very special day.

The above is meant in a satirical manner and does not reflect the opinions of HyruleanHyroe or any of his characters. Any resemblance to real world issues, living or dead, is purely coincidental.

Is anyone else hoping that the “A New Way to Explore the Looks of Guild Wars 2” announcement slotted for March 24th is about adding a first person view? That’s been one of my biggest pet peeves about this game since day one, as beautiful screenshots was a big part of the first GW for me.
Just my two cents, but a straightforward good vs evil story isn’t always a bad thing. Not exactly what this is, but you can’t treat uncomplicated storytelling like it’s a sin.
Not LS, I know, but Trahearne is by far my favorite male character in the game. Also one of the very few aside from the player (if male) that represent a desirable connection in the game. I get both sides of this argument, and I think it really doesn’t boil down to a right or wrong thing. It’s simply about a large demographic (men) wanting a strong character to represent them. Braham isn’t a widely likeable character, and he’s the only true spotlight male of the LS. I can’t wait for future expansions into Elona and Cantha so we can get more ethnicities involved as well, and some races could use more representation. Better characters all around would be fantastic.
It’s a relationship between 2 people. Should it matter whatever the sexes of the 2 are? Claiming to not be homophobic when making a homophobic point does not absolve the OP from being homophobic.
Race used to matter to people when it comes to relationships. Do you think it’s acceptable to question the race of 2 people in a relationship today?
Not taking sides, but clarifying: the point seems to be about highlighting the relationship. A game that placed excessively heavy emphasis on the biracial nature of a couple (or couples) could be considered heavy-handed, pandering, insincere, or racist. Not defending the OP, but the topic is variety in romantic focus, not the morality of a homosexual relationship.

Actually yes (to the ascended). This is the finale, we should be getting something really good for all the time/patience spent. It should have contained a guaranteed
Ascended item (that would be random, both whether armor/weapon and which stats it is).
The only way I could agree with you on this is if they made it dependent on having completed past LS metas or instances. If not, “time and patience” mean nothing because anyone can log on for the first time in months and grab it. It’d be insta-worthless.
Everyone seems to miss the point of the Living Story. It’s not a chore to work through, it’s not punishment to be compensated for. It’s a story, and as such is its own reward. This release is epic and awesome, as a finale should be. Try to enjoy it maybe? If you’re here to make the little numbers turn into big numbers, Borderlands might be more rewarding. Loot simulation at its finest.
1.) I think it’s an appropriate reward, considering how many champ boxes you can rack up in an even shorter time just running a train. If it were all about the boxes, there are much better and easier ways to get them. There have to be at least some people out there who actually enjoy the content.
2.) Wasn’t it five boxes, not six? Or am I crazy?
Daaaaayummm, the green looks kick-kitten .
Doubtful as any Anet dev that plays the game can always get into the main server so it doesn’t really affect them does it
…Really? You think they made GW2 just so they could have infinite dev hacks and laugh at all the poor miserable ‘normals’?

If you look on the previous events you’ll notice that we often had different items linked to different success, and a “big” reward linked to the meta event in general. But on the climax of the story, for the “biggest reward”,we have…. nothing !
Three points.
1.) The rewards from completing the story and completing the meta have generally been balanced. One a skin, one a node. One a mini, one a tonic. In some individual cases one may have been widely considered better than the other, but that goes both ways. Meta reward is not the “big” reward.
2.) It makes more sense, to me at least, that the more unique and commemorative of the two rewards be for completing the story, rather than grinding random achievements. This allows more people to enjoy that symbol of participation in the actual climax of the Living Story, rather than reserving it for those who can afford the time to “Dodge so-and-so x times” and “Touch y of this item.”
3.) The reward seems ample. Other people seem to be getting plenty. I think you just got an unlucky drop, and hey, kitten happens.
Conditions were never viable in PVE, especially in zerg events, wonder when people learn it.
In Zerg events, they are only useful up to a very immediate point, true. That doesn’t mean that condition users should be penalized. What about Guardians, who have auto-burn every fifth attack and can’t swap it out? It sounds like a pain. I guess we just gotta swap out for condition removal skills and play it conservative. Boring.

I assume this is for an achievement?
I do think the Atlas is a bit confusing, but should be fixable through future design refinements. I just hope this doesn’t replace release notes. I already was a bit upset when they stopped putting out notes a week in advance. It’s nice to have an outline available. If this does replace them, it’s gonna be a lot harder to get hyped about a new release when I can’t quickly scan the bullet points at work, lol.
I was going to respond to a lot of posters individually, but there’s just way too many, so here’s the summarized version:
I understand and appreciate both sides of this argument. I am one of those players with very limited time in-game. I actually haven’t even finished my personal story yet, and I’ve had the game since the pre-release. However, I’m also a supporter of the living story model, for various reasons.
Firstly, I think we as gamers need to be more appreciative in general for all the free content provided to us. We all get so entitled, myself included. We demand more and more from Anet, and cry ‘money-grubbers’ any time they try to monetize an aspect of the game. The bottom line is, they are providing new content at an unprecedented rate and 100% of the story is free of charge. That is unique to this MMO.
The Living Story model is a fine method for executing what was envisioned for this game. As a persistent and changing world, it makes sense that major events happen once in a lifetime. As an MMO made by a loving and dedicated company, it makes sense that the events would be available for a short period, allowing everyone a chance to get in there and experience them. That was the lesson learned from the Lost Shores event.
It’s understandable to want to be able to play missed content. I’ve been lucky enough to be able to find one or two hours to play through the story of each release, and that’s really all you need, but not everyone can. I think Anet realizes this and are willing to throw us a bone here and there, as with the two fractals and two boss fractals revisiting the Molten Alliance and the Aetherblades. Making it all permanently available, however, unravels the concept of the permanent world. I get the historian idea, but it needs to be permanent for the players as well as the characters. There’s no sense of impact if you can come back and do it any time. It’s not for everyone, true, but it’s a valid approach and they’re doing it well and gracefully.
On top of that, Anet needs to make money somehow. They can’t support a game of this scope with no revenue. Since they kindly allow us to play with no subscription fees of any kind, this revenue comes from micro-transactions, and one of the best ways to push micro-transactions is to make them available for a limited time. This also makes is possible to do special re-sales and, as they are currently doing, make past wares available as a special reward for completing in-game events. The Living Story is self-funding content. It’s not perfect, but it’s not wrong and nothing is owed to us.
I don’t want this to be a love-it-or-go-home post. I just want to try to illustrate that Anet is already doing quite a lot for us as gamers, and it seems unfair to demand that they abandon their manifesto and cut their revenue for the sake of appeasing those who don’t care for the current system when it’s met with so much success and popularity. Can’t we all just get along and appreciate what they have given us?

Read it again, you’re wrong.
Please point me towards the place that says that EVERYTHING from Lion’s Arch would move to the Vigils Keep.
Page 1 of this thread.
Actual release notes:
Vigil Keep, the Impromptu Hub of Services
Most of the services in Lion’s Arch have found a new home at the Vigil Keep in Gendarran Fields.
All home-city asura gates will now connect to a new gate plaza in the Vigil Keep.
All WvW and PvP asura gates have also been hastily erected to connect to the Vigil Keep.
The Black Lion Trading Post, Bank, and Guild services have moved to the Vigil Keep.
Dungeon reward vendors and cultural weapon vendors have moved to the Vigil Keep.
The powerful Zommoros, along with Miyani, have relocated near the new asura gates.
Sonder the Seller, Scornheart, and Poyaqui are also available.
Floating above is the captain’s airship, the Havoc’s Heir, a one-stop shop for all services.
Firstly, you can’t take the word of one Dev over an official release.
Secondly, ‘all services have been moved’ could and probably does refer to ‘all services that were to be moved have been moved.’ It’s ambiguous wording on the part of one Dev. Read the release and get over it.

I had a lot to say. I’ll condense it.
The game, indeed, was “well crafted” but their insistence on merely overlaying new over old without integration is not well crafted.
Guess I’m not sure what you’re referring to. Existing characters are integrated, existing races/armies are integrated and ultimately changed, nothing breaks canon in any significant way that I’ve noticed. Are you saying you want concurrent stories instead of progressing chronologically?
Destroying and retconning their own lore is not well crafted. Destroying areas of the game in a futile attempt to make a laughable villain somehow believable is not “well crafted”.
I guess I wouldn’t call Scarlet ‘laughable,’ though I do dislike her. Villain aside, as I said, acts of terrorism are right in line with her character, and I don’t believe Lion’s Arch was destroyed for any reason other than for the sake of the story they are telling. It is a central conflict. It is the low point before ultimate victory, where all seems hopeless.
Enlighten me about what part of temporary content is permanent?
Temporary content isn’t permanent. That’s what temporary means. Consider yourself enlightened.
Lost Shores brought us a permanent new zone with new characters, enemies, events, etc, not to mention Fractals. Flame & Frost gave us permanent characters and story progression and uprooted entire communities, driving them to Southsun. Sky Pirates of Tyria killed a council member, added a new area to Gendarran Fields, and ultimately led to the running and election of Ellen Kiel (Should’ve been Evon!). Queen’s Jubilee revealed Scarlet and upshifted the whole shebang, as well as introducing the watchwork knights and twisted watchwork. Tower of Nightmares completely decimated Kessex hills and continues to do so. Origins of Madness introduced a new epic group event fighting a giant three-headed wurm in Bloodtide Coast. Edge of the Mists uncovered a whole new realm hidden within the mists. And now Lion’s Arch is gone, and I will be truly surprised if Anet just brings it back after a few months. There is plenty of permanence in the game, and I think this is the pièce de résistance.
And High Fantasy? This story is more Mel Brooks except they weren’t trying to be campy or funny.. it is a bad parody of High Fantasy, worse since it was unintended.
High Fantasy means the subject in question is set in an alternate, fictional world and displays ‘epic’ qualities of character, theme, and plot. Wikipedia, son.
Epic is in the eye of the beholder, I’ll grant you that. You certainly don’t have to like the story. But between city-sized dragons, racial conflict, a team of magical uber-warriors, armies joining forces to lay waste to the world, travelling between dimensions, flying pirate assassins, battles between armies of hundreds of players, and now the siege and demolition of a major city, I’d say GW2 has ‘epic’ covered.

All complaints or compliments regarding gameplay, bugs, and services aside, I’d just like to give props to Anet for the story they’re bringing to Tyria.
I don’t really like Scarlet, but only because I find her obnoxious. It’s probably a good thing I don’t relate with a supervillain. That being said, I love the entire Living Story arc thus far. It’s so refreshing to play a well-crafted MMO with multiple running storylines occuring in different areas to different people, all of which have a permanent and recognizable impact on the game world. I think the destruction of a major hub is a bold move and totally in line with the behavior of a psycopathic magical terrorist. I also cannot WAIT to see if my prediction regarding what lies beneath Lion’s Arch is correct. I understand that not everyone goes for this sort of thing, but Anet has stated clearly many times that they want a world with real permanence where cooperation is encouraged, and story has been a top priority since GW1. I applaud the work they’re doing.

I say, why not add crafting stations to the southern camp, so that people HAVE to walk to get there? That way people will still buy the Captain’s Pass to avoid that inconvenience.
I normally support ANET’s posture, but there’s no reason that there aren’t crafting stations in Vigil Keep. Aren’t they supposed to be a self-sufficient organization with the means to produce their own weapons, armor and such?
So, why not add crafting stations far away from the TP/Bank?
At least I can see this viewpoint. It’d be nice to have crafting stations along with the rest, yes. What I don’t understand is why, if you’re already WPing to a new location to access the rest, you can’t WP to one of the many other locations in the game where you can craft and still access other services? All five major cities, Ebonhawke, WvW, etc. Is there some attachment to the keep that I’m just not picking up on? It seems like the airship wouldn’t help with that even if it were free, since it’s not in Vigil Keep.

The airship is a luxury because of the destruction of Lion’s Arch. The two events are connected and that’s the issue here.
You don’t think it’d be nice to have unlimited free travel to a organized, compact location holding every service you could need if LA was still around? Really? I would have bought this from the beginning. It’s a time-saver all around.

If people want to rescue the amount of citizens needed for the highest tier of rewards, they need to specifically avoid big zergs, as that both upscales events to the point where they take too long to complete, and takes away players from other parts of the city reviving and rescuing the random stragglers.
The content isn’t even 24 hours yet. People are currently taking what seems to be the path of least resistance. In time, they’ll evolve and start doing what’s needed to save more citizens, you’ll see less of the big zergs, and everyone will get more loot.
This exactly. The bigger the Zerg, the lower the rescued citizen score. Just convincing five to ten people to break off solo and rescue as many citizens as possible through the event greatly increases the number of citizens saved. I’m actually really pleased with how Anet has discouraged Zergs with this release. Honestly, the Marionette battle did a good job, too. Still had to have a lot of people, but they had to be organized and evenly distributed to succeed. Escape from LA is more so.
With Evon’s uncanny ability to acquire goods and equipment from the enemy themselves and turn it around for profit, I’m sure he’d have been able to implode Scarlet’s plans from the inside long ago had he the resources of the council as well. After all, dead customers aren’t paying customers.

I only have two simple points to make.
First, the airship is a luxury. It’s letting those with a bit of spending money pay for a convenience that doesn’t give them any competitive edge over other players. It would be such regardless of the destruction of LA.
Second, Lion’s Arch has been destroyed. This is a tragedy of epic proportions within the realm of Tyria. You’re probably not supposed to be happy about it. Be glad that they’re bending the rules of plausibility enough to allow for the relocation of all services. Digital people are dying here.
