Hints on a future Primordius vs Jourmag storyline
Battle of the elder dragons? HEEEEEEEEEELL yeah!
But who said the GW2 gold is same gold we use IRL? Real gold became valuable (before it had any technical uses) only because it was rare and shiny. In GW2 there are rarer and shinier metals. Gold is just another metal and has no reason to be expensive.
Gold coins have their value based on marked and the fact it’s accepted currency in whole Tyria. It’s all about system, not real value of materials – this one was true only during “item for item” trade.kitten , I wish I wasn’t so limited by my english >.>
I thought it was because it resists corrosion. Worst thing a you can have is a few rainy days all your money. Proof of point we do not make money out of Lithium.
Sodium coins!
AND HERE IT IS!
Two chunks of gold ore make one gold ingot. Meaning (usually) a 24K brick of gold.
Those gotta be some big-kitten coins.
The size of gold ingots varies. If an ingot in GW2 is based on the smaller size, could take a couple.
Nope. Your own article says the smallest ingot is 1 oz, same size as the largest coin. At most is should be 1 coin:1 ingot, more likely 10:1 or 20:1. By that logic, each gold ore should be worth a minimum of 50 silver, but 5g or 10g would be reasonable.
So how many gold ingots does it take to make one gold coin?
AND HERE IT IS!

Anyone else find it odd that a chunk of gold ore is worth ~75c, rather than the gold that it’s made of? I tell you, whoever is melting that kitten down to make gold coins is banking hardcore.
you can’t just place a price limit on an item on the TP. markets don’t work that way. If the price for Spark is 1300g and Anet puts a 500g limit on it’s price, it simply won’t sell. No one would sell it for 500g. There would be 300,000 buy orders and 0 listed. How would this happen? for the most part, people would stop forging it. but any drops of it people get, they would craft the legendary and sell that instead, because the price of the Incinerator would go up 200% due to lack of supply of it’s precursor.
I get what you’re saying, but I need to point out that making the precursor available to anyone for 500g would hardly create a lack of supply. No one would need the TP because 500g is much more attainable than 1200. Therefore more legendaries crafted, therefore lower prices.
Not saying I want a vendor, I just hate faulty logic.
OP, gotta agree with you. They started off so well, and we had lots of information about upcoming updates well in advance, but even before the current hiatus there was a dropoff in the quality of the teaser material. It once was a full and detailed summary released one week before the upcoming update, and that was great. Recently they dropped that to little more than a title or trailer and the summary drops the day of. It has been doing a lot to kill my enthusiasm and anticipation.
With the release model they’ve chosen, and I do think it’s a great one, Anet really needs to stay on top of keeping the player base up to date on developing events. It’s all we have between releases, especially during breaks like this. I feel your discouragement.
If they are adding GW1 dungeons like FoW and UW they need to make them a lot more explorable than the current dungeons. They have to be an whole zone of content.
This.
FoW and UW never felt like dungeons to me. They were whole zones, even bigger than many overworld zones. With the persistent world of GW2 and the addition of jumping they’d have to make it MASSIVE. Which I’d like. Underworld especially. ‘Course, it won’t be the same now that Aatxes have been wussified.
So when can we start smacking those looters?

I am hoping the next segment of the Living Story will focus on rebuilding LA (in addition to the other things happening) and having us do a variety of things that the more we accomplish the faster the rebuild of the area happens. Maybe also some mini puzzles to sort out the looters from the residents or assist in rebuilding efforts. This could also be an interim something to do until the main story starts again.
I suspect everything is in hiatus until Season 2 of WvW gets finished anyway and then we have the Legendary Tournament to get through.
Man I hope they do NOT rebuild LA. New city, elsewhere? Sure. Memorial? Fine. Corrupt it with the power of the new dragon (M) and make a new elite area? Ideal.
Jump straight into rebuild LA? Invalidates the story and takes away all epicness and permanence of the previous season.
As toxic and bitter as this is, it was funny.
No knowz if 2 LOL or 2 FLAAAAME.
I do agree with you, but the skins that you’ve earned but no longer have should be made available in wardrobe..
That’s true, I actually recall a thread with a similar sentiment regarding the lower level Mad Memoires. I do fully support unlocking skins on accounts that did earn them but had to remove them for space in the pre-wardrobe era, though I’m not sure if that’s something that is tracked or can be proven. If it can, it needs to be done. If not, well, it’s unfortunate but no one’s losing anything. Just not getting something that was destroyed before any official release regarding a wardrobe and therefor a personal decision. I held on to all of mine, but partly because I’m a ridiculous pack-rat.
wings with wings on them. or a ninja scarf like what strider hiryu wears.
With wings on it? And each wing gets a cape?
I want a deployed parachute dragging on the ground for my back item!
I doubt it. No one really liked it. I’m pretty sure you’re the only person to inquire after it on the whole forum.
actually SAB was warmly welcome in particular in its first incarnation; fun, balanced, rewarding, full of irony and highly replayable especially with friends.
Unfortunately the second appearance was too much focused on going hardcore, which was – imho – the exact opposite of what made successful its debut.
It’s ok to implement a menu asking which level of difficulty you want to play with, it is not ok to make the overall assumption that everyone want to play hardcore.
So, I hope SAB will be back with a revamped version of the 3rd world, improving even more the rewards and implementing maybe new game modes, and with new beautiful worlds to explore with friends.
I appreciate your rebuttal to my entirely serious statement.
Gotta be the Devil’s Advocate here, sorry.
As someone who has participated in all the Living World content to date (and who only gets an hour or two a week to play, which I dedicate to LW), skins earned are the only way to display my achievements and my dedication to be a part of the moving and changing world, apart from a couple of titles. They’re badges of honor. It was the same way for the longest time with holiday and special event skins in GW1. If those become readily available, suddenly they mean nothing to players like me.
Some would argue it’s about the look, not the prestige, but I disagree. There are a lot of armors and weapons to choose from in this game, and there will be a lot more in the future as season 2 rolls out. I’d encourage new players to look forward to making their mark now, rather than pushing for rewards from events they weren’t around for. Even making them re-playable destroys the historical significance of the event.
Anet said from the beginning they were looking to build a game with permanence, meaning things happen and stay happened. Honestly, I’d love more one-time huge finales like the Karka Queen. It doesn’t make sense to stomp Mai Trin’s face in 300 times, or to be able to go back in time a year later and do it again.

I’ve loaded at that same exact spot about a billion times now and I certainly don’t remember seeing that cart there.
I don’t understand why they take away the vendor instantly. What if a person had a RL issue come up unexpectedly? I don’t know what the harm is in leaving the vendors up for a while.
They were up for a month. That’s longer than most LS vendors.
Thirded. I’d like to know as well.
New region-
Tackling Jormag will take you further up North to the Far Shiverpeak.
Hunt down Kralkatorrik in the crsytal desert.
Venture deep underground as you rout out Primordus.
Explored Magus Falls as you try to seek out Mordremoth
Wait there’s more! The path to Elona and Cantha has been open! Investigate what had happened to those region after the rise of the dragons?
The personal stories that your character take will also continue aswell. The lesser races are no longer less!, Played any of the lesser races- Koda, Tengu, Skritt, Quaggan Grawl or Ogre or Hylek.
New professions- Either a Ritualist like class, Chronomancer, Summoner (two abandon classes in GW Utopia) or a new heavy armour class.
Four elder dragons, two continents, seven races, and four professions? You don’t ask for much, do you?
I think, looking at all these posts, that it’s pretty clear we’d like Cantha to come back, Anet.
I doubt it. No one really liked it. I’m pretty sure you’re the only person to inquire after it on the whole forum.
Probably not exactly what you’re looking for, but with the disappearance of the six Gods of Tyria it makes sense that access to their realms is lost as well.
I agree, though, I’d love to see more elite areas like that. Especially an area or two geared toward solo play, but that’s just me. It’ll come with time, I’m sure.
I support this.
Bloodsaw Greatsword
Bronze Greatsword
Ebonblade
Kymswarden
Krytan Greatsword
Khrysaor, the Golden Sword
Lionguard Sword (greatsword)
Lovestruck Greatsword Skin
Naga Fang
Skybringer
Vision of the Mists
Seraph Greatsword
Aureate Highlander Sword
Man I LOVE Skybringer. Rocked it for quite a long time.
Most of the non-exotic skins are thinner, if that’s what you’re looking for. With the wardrobe you can check em out and switch back later if you don’t like them. This is a great list. Also worth checking out:
The Basic Greatsword
Darksteel Greatsword
Dhuumseal
Ebon Vanguard Greatsword
Foefire’s Essence (if you like effects on it)
Ghastly Greatsword (a personal favorite)
Golden Greatsword
Mithril Greatsword
Naegling

Op, you’re going to attract sharks.
Can they swim to Ohio? :P
The only aspect I don’t like is the lacking of story. I give BioWare some credit there with SWTOR that even though most of the game was boring, the character progression story was epic.
Maybe my perspective is a bit warped because I don’t get much time to play so it takes me a very long time to complete the personal stories, but I enjoyed them all very much and am looking forward to the potential of further PSs in the future! And yes, the music is fantastic. Initially I felt they were stealing too many tracks from the original Guild Wars, but they have since added much music to the game. The themes are beautiful!
Comin’ back to give the Living Story a bit of love!
The living story was what first got me excited about the concept of GW2 back when it was still in production. Up until that point I had a lot of doubts, but LS turned me around. I loooove a world that goes on without me. I can’t go back and redo my honeymoon, and I can’t go back and redo the discovery of Southsun. That’s a big part of the immersion for me. I was there and it meant something. Yay Living Story, keep it up!
This is the “I love this game and no hater can tell me what I like is wrong” thread!
I love GW2 because in my eyes it is beautiful, it’s immersive, and it’s so much fun I can hardly tear myself away to play anything else. I am very satisfied with the content they deliver, and the schedule by which they deliver it. If they continue as they have been, I will be playing for a very, very long time to come.
If you feel similarly, please, speak up. I’d love to see more positive players on this forum.
If not, feel free to harsh on my mellow. Everyone can speak their mind, but no one can make me hate this wonderful game.
Which just goes to show how broken and backwards this game really is. Yeah! Let’s let our mage class use a two-handed sword that is probably three times as heavy as they are! That is so awesome even though it doesn’t make any sense what so ever!
That’s right! Pick up your pitchforks and torches, villagers, this game isn’t exactly like a second game! It is BROOOOOOKEEEEENNNN!!!
You don’t make karma gear salvageable so you can’t make cash from karma (at least not easily or well). You make the badges of honor not salvagable so you can’t make cash from badges of honor.
Sound reasoning.
Wow, I bet you forgot that Karma Armor comes with runes but the Armor for Badges doesn’t? I don’t even care about ectos or t6 materials, I just want my runes and sigils that I bought
You may not care about runes and ecto, but Anet might. The fact that you can get free ectos with badges and badges for people who play WvW drop like mad, well, it’s just not what Anet wants from the game. Sorry it doesn’t agree with what you want.
I mean there are PvEer’s who never set foot in WvW with a couple of thousand badges.
I think we’re losing the OP’s point here. It was suggested that karma armor and badge armor be made salvageable ONLY for runes purchased separately by the player and applied to the armor. No materials would result, nor any runes that came with the armor. The current system discourages applying runes to karma armor or badge armor because there’s no way to salvage them and move them to your next set.
Peoples accounts where banded for adding exuberant amounts of gold to the econ through salvaging. This would be a way to conververt karma to gold fr high yields so it probably won’t happen considering they nerfed karma cycling.
No amount of gold was added to the economy as a result of salvaging temple armor.
Amen. It is impossible to add gold to the game through the TP. It is a gold Sink. And I doubt anyone would be merching high end runes.
I hate the megaserver update, ever since it went live all I see in game is whining. I think it’s putting me in the whining server. That’s weird, because (current post aside) I don’t do a lot of whining. I think Anet needs to check its whining logarithms. I’d much rather play with people who enjoy the game.
I have literally noticed no difference at all. There were people to play with when I wanted to before, and there still are. I still play the game in the exact same way, only now I look bad-kitten . I’d say it’s a net improvement.
i ve transmuted my DUSK and Advanced spinal blades
Ah, see, this is where I got confused. Just assumed this was a troll lol.
Anyone else feel like there has long since ceased to be anything “special” about these special dyes? I don’t see anything extraordinary about these. At least with the original flame and frost ones, they tended to really reveal a lot more detail on your armor (thinking of like Deep Glacial Teal in particular). These look just like ordinary red/blue/green/yellow to me, honestly… with fancy names slapped on them.
Agreed. If they’re going to release “special” dyes in the gemstore, they need to be a.) Guaranteed drops rather than random cash sinks and b.) A bit more visually impressive. I’m thinking dye-based particle effects? Mirror dye? Plaid? Anything, really. A 2% saturation increase doesn’t really do it for me.
How do you transmute a greatsword with a back piece? lol
You don’t have the watchwork sprocket node in your home instance, do you? That still gives ~3-4 shards per node.
I understand and appreciate posts like this, requesting past content to be made available in the gem store, because who wouldn’t want a way to obtain a skin they like? As a veteran player, however, I have to say I’m against it. It’s not out of any ill will towards new players or those who missed the events. It’s just that, from a personal viewpoint, I had to make time to play the game and put in the effort to earn those reward skins, and as such they are a symbol of my participation in the related events. If they are made available for purchase, that basically negates any value they have to me and invalidates my personal contribution to the story. I don’t really think Anet would do that to its vets, but in case they’re reading and considering, I say focus on new content and rewards so new players can experience that same feeling of accomplishment, rather than cheapening the whole shebang by offering badges of recognition for $5 a pop.
Loving the new shoulders. Helm less so.
I totally get the frustration over this. It really isn’t a matter of difficulty. The mechanics of the fight are really straightforward and simple. It’s just a lack of understanding on the part of the average player. Maybe the associated NPCs could explain the mechanics in a slightly plainer and more obtrusive manner? Color matching and button spamming shouldn’t be that difficult to understand.
8 hours a day every day since release? O.O
SOME DAYS I’m playing 18+ hours a day and depends how severe my insomnia is on any particular day. I am also single and retired/disabled, better explains my extreme gaming. -LOL
Hahaha, not sure whether to feel sympathy for your insomnia or jealousy for your free time! I get maybe 2 hours a week here, with the occasional LAN party exception. Looking forward to retirement!
I am a jade dragoon! Primeval armor, armageddon armor, dragon helm, spinal blades, jade greatsword.
Each character also gets a birthday present each year (if you keep it that long), probably a mini pet.
If year one is the model they’re working with, then all Birthday Gifts are going to be soul/account bound. Still nice to have the leveling scrolls, but multiples of the same mini are a bit useless.
I don’t know about all of you, but I already drop my pants when I get a kill. Or is that not what you meant?
As a side note, anything in the gemstore is available without paying a cent if you earn enough in-game gold to buy it. Yes, gems are expensive that way, but they need to be or Anet wouldn’t make a penny. “It’s only available in the gemstore” is never a valid complaint because of this mechanic.
Also, I LOVE the Rampart armor (minus the helm) and am happy to have it regardless of story. I’d love to see more gemstore options for Heavy classes that don’t look like they were designed by a deranged stripper.
All mine are in the latest installment of my blog, in my signature.
Oh, and I have a question: How do you get your character to face towards you in game?
Just use your right mouse button to drag the camera around in front of them.
Haven’t checked mine, but you could potentially get double the monthlies this month was my understanding. Once before patch, and once after. Unless you don’t get the laurels.
Nope, I’m pretty sure they said that the second half would only be available if you didn’t finish the first half.
I’ll be playing more now that I can be a ferocious green dragon-man!
Oh, I haven’t noticed this. I’ll have to check it out!
There’s more changes and content than any MMO I’ve ever played, at least. I’m thankful for a game free of any subscription fess that regularly and frequently delivers new content. It’s like I bought an infinite game!
Ah, I see. I’ll check when I get home, looks like that’s probably it.
