Yep ^^ I’m always using sword clones (since they are melee and not just stand there like staff clones) to clear marks before charging in.
/edit: And while Cleansing Shatter might be helpful against conditions, we have to abandon way too much to get it. Without IP and Shatter recharge @ 50% HP our defense greatly suffers and since our shatters take much longer to recharge (or we can’t get Deceptive Evasion if we go 30 in Inspiration and Illusions) our bursts are much rarer and it’s becoming easier to outplay us.
//edit: And while the traitline synergize well with a phantasm build, shattering illusions for cleanses is something you don’t want really want to do.

Take time to build those conditions stacks
Pop into deathshroud (trigger Weakening Shroud) → #3, #5 → exit deathshroud, spam marks and also trigger Dhuumfire in the process doesn’t really take time and constantly fears you in the process.

I really dont think we should be that dependant on sigils, especially as we dont have any form of proper damage avoidance.
No class should be dependant on runes/sigils to be viable. Sadly, ArenaNet has no clue about balancing that’s why we (mesmers) got virtually no swiftness and horrible condition removal.
But…i got some way of a solution to your problem: Change Deathshroud #5 to convert lifeforce into endurance. This would also remove torment from the necro and make it easier to defend against condi bursts.
/edit: Of course this should be channeled so you don’t have to waste all life force at once. Kinda like WvW catapults/trebus that shoot farer the longer you press the skill button.

Those necros are pretty glass btw
Considering that condi necros wear full rabid which includes toughness and also got the highest health pool in the game + the additional amount in lifeforce which also can be refilled during the fight…no, not really.
/edit: Actually, in current meta i don’t really see a point in running a heavy shatter build anymore. I changed my build from 1900 toughness to 1500 about a week ago. Doesn’t make a difference against condi builds anyway and i can atleast try to burst them down.

PvE, apart from maybe high level fractals that i don’t even see a reason to do, is very much faceroll on any class…speedruns aren’t required to do anything.

@spoj: I currently don’t have a source but i’m sure ArenaNet stated somewhere that they don’t want the necro to have (easy) access to vigor. Deathshroud and Spectral skills are actually really good for defensive purposes. Other classes, like thieves, mesmers and eles are much squishier than necros and need the dodges to survive.

My main problem with this is following: Other classes (except necros) are actually better portal-users than mesmers because the got actual leaps and other skills which let them skip parts of jumping puzzles/other content.
Since mesmer in PvE is mainly taken because of Portal and Timewarp, this could very well lead to a decrease in mesmer popularity. And since we already are subpar in tPvP…we still have WvW, right? ^^

Conditions builds are not as strong as raw power builds because they kill so slow. All you need is some moderate condition removal ability and it’s game over for them.

Necro Condi-Bursts do 3k+ damage per second while also fearing you. That’s comparable to the damage a warrior does without having the need to stay close.
Warriors, on the other hand, don’t do that high condi damage but got very long durations on their conditions and are able to endure a lot of pain (haha) so their is plenty of time for those conditions to kill you.

- Guardian: Soloroamer (and afaik PvP) guardians use Renewed Focus which is 10pts. Tome of Courage is good in bigger groups, though.
- Warrior: Rampage is the least used warrior elite.
- Engineer: Mortar…
- Ranger: Okay, the Spirit is very powerful. All 3 got their uses, though.
- Thief: Those 3 are all good.
- Ele: I don’t really see that many eles use Tornado…
- Necro: Ofc Lich is THE elite for power builds, but necro elites are kinda niche in general.

One measly traitline per update is not “something”, it’s trash.
I mean, even if it doesn’t have to do anything with the WvW mode in particular: There are golem minis. Why the heck do i have to pay those guild thingis for them when badges of honor would be much more fitting. Also unique back items, armor and weapon skins, something that can ONLY be got with those badges. It’s not like we want to do those dungeons over and over for skins we like.

The amount of skill points you need to invest shouldn’t matter when determining how strong a skill should be. With time, you will get all skills anyway and in PvP they are even available from the start.

If you want teleports and invul roll another class. Seriously, you can’t expect to get everything in one class. Besides, you already got a decent amount of blocks, quite long duration of power/condi-immunity and one of the best mobility in the game on top of it when you need to run. All this while also having the highest damage, armor rating and hp pool.

Sounds incredibly boring, tbh…
A whole bunch of “ride x ballons”, “ignite y beacons”, very low random chances at new armor/weapons, WvW still ignored (it WAS praised as one of the game’s core features after all).
The only thing that seems somehow worth it is the account wallet. But i wasn’t expecting anything so they exceeded my expectations…yay.
/edit: Those pink swords on one screenshot look like a lazy retexture of the Fellblade sword. ArenaNet is losing interest in adding new stuff to the game. (Well, they haven’t even fixed/balanced the old stuff, shows pretty clear how much they care)

Having yet another cleanse on a utility skill with high CD won’t change anything. There are already too much utility skills we had to take (stunbreaks, cleanses, something to make us worthwhile in tPvP like Portal/IoL).
What we need are more inherent cleanses like traits (eg: Cleanse a condition every time you create a clone, 7s ICD) or even weapon skills (cleanse on sword mainhand – combined with the ability to pop in and out of combat – is what makes thief good atm).

The main problem of Inspiration actually aren’t the major traits. Going 30 points deep into a traitline to get a shatter trait while picking 3 minors which are basically useless because they focus on phantasms is…suboptimal.

A ranger guildmate told me that it was quite useless after the quickness nerf because it didn’t cover the whole stomp animation and thus didn’t actually allowed you to stomp faster (you still need to stand still until the stomp finishes even when th animation is already done).
And hey, at least you didn’t lose something like -20% cd on half your skills ^^

Rangers are actually one of the best classes to play against mesmers. Your pet always shows you which is the real one (even after stealthing and getting revealed). Condition builds are more or less uncounterable for most mesmers and power builds have the option to kite us for all eternity with bows.
If a mesmer killed 3 of you, that’s a L2P issue, in all honesty.

Actually, i’d like to have an instant cast, lower cd quickness utility for stomping/bursting. Time warp takes time to cast, is VERY obvious and on a huge cd. Unless running in a group, it’s really subpar.

I must totaly agree. When I played Warhammer Online I had same problem and solve it by replacing cursor for this fantastic crosshair. I never lost a track after. I wish to have it here also!

“Most necros” are bad any way. You should try and fight a necro that actually knows how to play his class. You will need extreme amounts of kiting and even then it’s very hard if not impossible.

Are you guys really discussing about whether 3k range instakills are op or not? Maybe it doesn’t matter that much if it’s only 1 warrior but think about 5-10 hiding inside their zerg. Half of the enemy zerg would be downed before the real fight even started.

Ask mesmer using staff… It’s the main reason why i have given up on iElasticity. There is always a staff autoattack bouncing around instantly revealing you after cloaking.
