Why must mesmers revolve around interrupting a target.
You know, actually i would be more than satisfied if ArenaNet decided to remove every trait centered around interrupts from the mesmer and give us something useful instead.
If i’m not mistaken, mesmer corrently got 8(!) traits, both minor and major, that resolve around interrupting. All of those are basically useless and limit the amount of build options a mesmer has (together with “must have”-traits like Deceptive Evasion and Illusionists Celerity that are somewhat deep in their respective trait lines).
But, sadly, that’s the way ArenaNet decided to go for mesmer and it’s unlikely they will change it.

But enough about mesmers, this is the warrior forum. Actually, i don’t find Distracting Strikes to be that bad. It got the longest base duration of all confusion skills in the game and should trigger a decent amount of time per fight given the amount of interrupts warriors have access to.

Better give warriors an additional F2 determined by their offhand (or mainhand by 2h-weapons ofc). It should probably share the adrenaline pool with the F1.
Since F1 abilities are usually offensive, F2 would be defensive like a short (~1-1.5 sec per adrenaline bar spent) reflective shield around the warrior with shield offhand.

If you are playing most PvE and not already got a warrior, i guess it’s about time ^^ They are, after all, the best profession to do speedruns with.
However, regarding engis. I recently got mine to lvl 80 (not yet fully exotic) and took him to WvW. At first i was playing a Bombkit/toolkit build with Pistol/Shield and was simply amazed by the versatility the class offers. The build got a ton of blast finishers as well as fire/water and smoke field and is actually quite hard to learn for someone who only used his “weapon swap”-key for the last 10 months to swap between weapons.
Also, engis offer easy access to perma-swiftness and a lot of cleanses, which – at least for someone who mains mesmer – is simply amazing and feels very fast while playing.
I must admit, i’m currently playing a HGH build that is much easier than playing with multiple kits to get a better feeling for the class before i will be going back to more complicated builds.
/edit: Regarding necros, i fear (haha) i can’t help you as i never played one. However, it’s quite likely that they are going to get nerfed soon so you could possibly be dissapointed if you invest a good amount of gold into leveling and equipping only to find your new class getting nerfed.

I was roaming with a warrior in EB some weeks ago, trolling the enemy zerg near their own spawn (don’t remember what server we were playing against).
However, he went down amidst ~10 enemies, all trying to stomp him. I saved him multiple times via Mass Invis, F3 and Focus #4 (pre-nerf), ressed him and put down a portal a moment before the ress went through. We both portalled out and left behind a zerg of disoriented people ^^

I think that’s because WvW is more open field while PvP is more or less centered around small circles you have to stand in. Warrior possess great mobility which is much more useful in a game mode where kiting is easier and more rewarding.
/edit: Also damage numbers in WvW tend to be much higher. An offensive warrior can put real pressure on anyone there.

Yes, we are. Besides the mantra, our cleanses got absurdly high cooldowns and some of them are even unreliable (disenchanter) or need a target to work (disenchanter, arcane thievery, iWarden + temporal curtain combo).

I’m gonna rewrite that statement: We have to put a lot more work into applying conditions than other classes have. A simple fix to Illusionary Elasticity and the removal of Vulnerability from Winds of Chaos would be enough. Torment was a first step in the right direction, though.

Actually, most TUP players i met so far weren’t that great. Playing in a zerg and being built for doing so is totally different from smallscale roaming, though.

Sadly, this is about the same level of usefulness as using focus or air/centaur runes as it limits the number of buildoptions you have.
As mesmers are extremely weak vs conditions and those got heavily buffed in the last patch, non-condi- mesmers more or less have to take -condition-duration-food and condi-mesmers most likely want to take +condition-duration-food since our condi-duration is ridiculously low compared to other classes.

Was a dull fight at north camp
Just a few hours ago we fought you guys in north camp on your homelands. 4 BNF + 2-3 other Dz players got about ~30 kills against GH players (coming in waves, not all at once of course) while trying to cap the camp before finally getting overwhelmed by the help of arrow carts and ballistas.
Was a nice farming spot, though ^^

Runes have nothing to do with the class you are playing. Spamming your heal spell while out of combat may also kill you when a thief engages you out of stealth.
/edit: Also Phase Retreat (Staff #2) has kind of restricted use since you either need a target behind you or must be real quick turning around, phase retreat, turn around again without losing more space as you got.
I think engineer can go for permanent swiftness… at least I tried this in sPvP… with traits to give +30% boon duration and some swiftness runes(centaur). Using all the other stuff(elixir, med kit skill and trait for equipping kit ? swiftness) you can get permanent swiftness.
Or you could just trait “Speedy Kits” and use a kit every 5s without any need for boon duration or elixirs.

Regarding balance, actually being 25% faster even in combat will only help us in escaping an opponent. That’s because even when we are faster, our illusions are not and will always be lagging behind while we are chasing the enemy trying to figure out how to actually do damage.
/edit: This won’t apply for GS builds that much as their damage mostly comes from autoattacks but is still true for all other weapon sets.
So i don’t really see how a permanent +25% movement speed (either signet or trait) would make us THAT much better than we are now.

I should have clarified that, i guess. I mainly WvW where it can be quite a chore to get from camp to camp without lagging behind the rest of your group.
After ItV nerf i use my focus basically only for swiftness since i seem to not be able to get the pull in time anymore (might be me, got to adept at the delay) and Warden is still lacking.
I’m not talking about in-combat mobility since we already have it pretty good with staff, blink + sword swap. I’m mainly concerned with getting from A to B in a time similar to other classes (even necro is way faster…).
Actually being able to catch a fleeing opponent would also be nice but that’s actually not top priority for me (and nobody is going to catch a fleeing warrior anyway, for example ^^)

We are currently the only class that doesn’t get any option to get permanent swiftness or even +25% movement speed out of combat without heavily changing our build through specific runes, focus and/or high boon duration.
During the recent patch mesmer has been nerfed hard and is in line with the other professions with major weaknesses against everything running a condition build.
Sure, we got compounding celerity but that trait is more or less a joke. It works only in combat because that’s the only situation for us to have illusions out and on top if it only increases forward movement so it doesn’t even affect strafing.

I really hope that this change (scepter spawning 2 clones instead of one) is intented as it finally makes scepter a useful weapon for condition builds. It’s possible to blink on top of that roof from outside the camp. Mesmer can do this as well as eles, thiefs and even guardians given a target. Necros should also be able to using Dark Path/Flesh Wurm.

Waiting until my games is patches…i got an 80 thief and they are op anyway, so i might play with him for a while. Also leveling an engineer and warrior atm which both got a good amount of buffing (like…every class other than mesmer).
But i’m far too much into teleporting over the place, dancing around my opponent to give up my little mesmer yet. If the next patch will nerf mesmer in a similar manner, i will most likely quit the game.

And that’s fine. Keeps and towers are already too easy to take in WvW’s current state. Hills is about the only properly designed keep in borderlands (i’m not often in EB, but red keep seems fine).
A simple fix:
- max 3 golems + 1 omega per team per map at any given time.
- increase HP of all doors.
- make doors immune against player damage (this will also fix single players being able to contest a keep forever).

Halting Strike: Damage dealt when interrupting enemies has been increased by 500%.So… when your interrupted, based on the leaks… you now not only not get healed, you take BACKSTAB DAMAGE!
Sorry to disprove you, but Halting Strike in it’s current state deals about 200-300 dmg and therefore could as well not exist at all.
/edit (Wall of Text inc): And to those complaining about the classes i play: My first main was the guardian which i mostly played in zergs and shelfed after several months because of how boring it was to mostly fight using auto-attacks. I rarely ever played the thief because i just can’t get warm with the class but it helped me a lot in understanding how the class works and how to fight against them. Afterwards i started my mesmer using a condition-shatter build until it got nerfed and switched to shatter (fyi: the “op” mesmer builds are phantasm builds. I sometimes use them but they really lack the mobility and group-support to be useful in WvW roaming).

I can tell you that i would give my Ether Fest for Mending any time. It heals for the same (base) amount, will have the same cd after patch and provides cleanses which is something mesmers are lacking right now.
Healing signet is about on par with thieves Signet of Malice, which is ok i think. Also, it got a really low cd when traited and can be abused for triggering “on heal”-rune effects.
Healing Surge with full adrenaline is simply the highest value heal in the game with a lower cd than Signet of Resolve.

The moment i saw the “leaked” patch notes i started leveling a warrior…mainly because of those points:
- leg specialist = immobilize on sword auto-attack.
- insane confusion output in CC-builds.
- multiple cleanses every 8s ontop of immunity against cripple/immobilize/chill.
- both Burst Mastery and Destruction of the Empowered enabling HUGE burst builds.
- still the best mobility in the game.
- all heal skills improved.
Warriors really start to shine in group battles of ~4+ people since it’s just impossible to ress someone if you are getting 3k+ auto-attacks + insane bursts.
Warrior is one of if not the best class to play in WvW zerging and roaming right now and i have seen good warriors absolutely crushing good duellers of every other class.

It seems like warrior are getting their own, better version of it (cleanse a condition when spending a bar of adrenaline AND get adrenaline when hit) as a master tier trait.
Shattered Conditions is a trait that, in theory, could make the mesmer at least remotely able to deal with conditions but fails to do due to horrible placement.
Inspiration is our phantasm traitline. Every minor trait in there buffs phantasms and if you specialize in phantasms, you simply don’t want to shatter. Assuming one would go all the way to Inspiration 30 to take this trait in a shatter build, he…
1) wouldn’t be able to take Illusionary Persona and Deceptive Evasion which are both near mandatory for a shatter build.
2) wouldn’t be able to take all needed -20% cd traits.
3) would waste 25 traitpoints since not a single trait (minor or major) in Inspiration is worth taking in a shatter build except Shattered Conditions.
So i suggest the following changes to the trait:
1) Change it into a master trait.
2) Move it to another traitline.
