I have an HD 6850. Does anyone has specific suggestions for tweaking the card’s software in the Catalyst Control Panel? What changes would you make from the vanilla installation? (And why or how do they help?)
The game already runs comfortably even in WvW, but I would happy to improve performance if it’s possible.
- Intel® Core™ i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.4GHz
- 12,288 MB RAM
- Latest drivers.
- No overclocking; vanilla Win7 x64bit Home Premium.
- 1600×1200 @75Mhz 20" flat screen
- typical FPS 40-50, ~30-35 in WvW at worst
Thank you.
If you’re running into bugs preventing content, please describe each of them, individually, in detail along with methods for reproducing the bugs.
ANet has a good track record of fixing bugs documented as Errant suggests, but I wouldn’t expect them to have a clue has to how to address issues where only the name of the zone is listed. The following information is helpful:
- Name of the zone; nearest WP/PoI.
- Name of the event/heart.
- The observed behavior (e.g. NPC won’t move, the first three waves attack, but the fourth never does, …).
- Time of day/World.
- Any other steps one took beforehand.
In addition, avoid speculating about why there’s an issue. (At least, until you’ve outlined the problem.) Any developer must know enough to recreate the problem in their test environment, so that they can cause the problem at will and be confident that they have addressed it before putting out a fix.
In the meantime, one workaround that seems to be effective: change worlds temporarily to complete the heart/event and then switch back. Sometimes, it’s just one particular map that gets “stuck” and other worlds aren’t affected at all.
I have an answer to my own question.
Apparently, the pick up log only shows the first 100-150 items. Apparently, any items removed from the sell queue show up at the bottom…and might not be visible until you pick up the currently available purchases. (thus ruling out spending some coin to use the BLT as extra storage.)
So, remember to pick up any existing items before worrying that some purchases aren’t showing up.
I can confirm that the Signet of Inspiration only activates its passive effect after your character has taken damage.
That’s consistent with my experience. When I fall or jump (and take damage), it always triggers. That’s inconsistent with the description that says it’s random every 10s; nothing about damage.
You should assume that, for the next few weeks, there will be an update every day at midnight PDT, give or take.
You can arrange to run an update at any time before that.
See Command-line arguments on the wiki to setup a shortcut (so the launcher grabs the update and quits). You can also use the Task Scheduler to do this automatically at a time of your choosing (e.g. while you sleep or have dinner).
Some one-word names are off limits for a variety of reasons (language, avoid confusion with in-game NPCs, …). Any name is reserved for at least 24 hrs after a toon is deleted, which would cause you to find a name reserved without being able to find a character.
I suspect there are other reasons why some names might be unavailable still. An easy way to check whether the original GW1 reservations are still in effect is to try to create a character using the name of a friend’s toon from GW1: it you can, then something else is going on with the names you guys are choosing. If those names still show as reserved, then it sounds like a bug or at least an undocumented change in policy.
It sounds as if you have a suggestion for improving the audit log, rather than a bug.
(There are any number of features that would be helpful, including the one you offer above.)
Do I need to create a support ticket to recover items gone missing from Black Lion? Or is it just a matter of waiting 12-36 hours or more?
Just before the trading post went down for maintenance, I removed several items from “Items I’m Selling.” They have not shown up in “Item Pick-up,” at least not yet.
When the trading post was intermittently available, everything showed up after a few hours of waiting. However, in this case, I still haven’t seen them…and they are no longer in “Items I’m Selling.”
I’d hate to create a ticket (and waste Support’s time) for this unless that’s the only solution. I’m not in a rush to get them back.
(I didn’t see this question addressed in the merged BLT post; please don’t merge this until it’s answered; thanks.)
The most recent update (as of this post) changed the availability of a lot of bulk foods, not just from karma merchants. No one is sure exactly which ones, so assume the wiki might be out of date while people revisit the same vendors and update the 100s of associated articles.
(Expect this to take a while. Just visiting each vendor takes a long time. The articles that need to be updated are: the food, some chef’s pages, the vendor page, and a few articles consolidating this type of data.)
I just double-checked. All the ingredients I bought in bulk are still available in the same quantities I had before (some were in the bank, some in inventory, some still in bulk bags).
On the other hand, it’s no longer clear where to obtain staples like butter.
well, one way or another there’s a bug here. Either it’s not functioning as intended, or the tool-tip hasn’t been updated.
Yes. The skill says “random boon…every 10s,” but we aren’t seeing the boons. In fact, I’m not altogether sure I’m getting the boons every 10s during combat. Instead, they seem to trigger on criticals, i.e. something else happens and I get the boon.
I can not access our Guild bank, I am told I’m not in a guild. I am in a guild and can open the guild window and see myself and many guild members. What can be done to fix this? I know I have access the error is “You don’t belong to a guild”
This happened to me (and other guildies as recently as today. For the first few days after we got shared storage, it was almost always inaccessible. Now, it’s closer to 90% accessible.
In addition, we also see the following
- Cannot see the names/account names of some logged-on guildies (shows “…” instead).
- Cannot see the names/account names of some logged-out guildies (includes all the people above and perhaps a few others).
- Cannot always see the build queue or other improvements.
- We still have a few people unable to represent at times, so we don’t think we are getting the correct amount of influence.
- In the audit trail for the shared storage, instead of the player’s name, we sometimes see the hash, e.g. [asdGG0ddaf…=]; this appears to affect the same people whose names do not display in the roster.
I’ve used blink, portal, and even phase retreat. I’ve never been able to recover without using a waypoint. (I’m also not that good with jumping puzzles, so maybe it’s a coordination issue and other people can use Sammoz’ workaround.)
You fall from 100m, hit a vendor cart, fall off the cart and take damage again — that sounds reasonable to me; you would still be moving quickly for the second hit (maybe it shouldn’t be identical damage each time).
As a similar example, I took a dive off a cliff, hit the water, and took no damage (the current, albeit unrealistic mechanic). My friend dove off the same cliff, but missed the water; he took damage when he hit the rocks (but took none when he rolled off them into the water).
It doesn’t happen that often, but when it happens, there’s no way to get back without using a waypoint. (Besides the costs in coin, this sometimes prevents you from being present at the end of an event.)
It seems to happen more often on islands, below-ground levels, and scaffolding. I never had it happen on a hill/mountain.
