Will HoM Pets' Vitality ever be adjusted?

Thanks for the screenshot. (If you have time, it would be helpful if you updated the wiki with the correct stats.)

The wiki’s pet attribute article shows other inconsistencies: extra power from the polar bear, lesser power for hyena, and the noted decreased vitality for the Black Widow. (It doesn’t note the white raven discrepancy in the screenshot above.)

So I think it might be more useful to ask why aren’t the pets consistent across families or whether the game compensates in some other way.

Move Guild Upgrades to New World

Illconceived Was Na.9781

At present, the localization of guild improvements is the only thing that ties players to a particular server. I’m not sure how important that is, but it feels important to me.

In my opinion, this would strengthen the ties between guild and member. Why do you think it’s more important to tie people to a server and less important to support guild portability?

While server-loyalty has some importance to WvW, there’s no special benefit for PvE-players. My guild started on a world that turned out to be unpopulated during our peak play times. We moved to one that suits us better, but all the improvements we made were lost and, for our purposes, wasted — there’s no chance we’ll be returning to the old world.

Move Guild Upgrades to New World

in Suggestions

Illconceived Was Na.9781

Suggestion: Allow a guild to pay influence to move upgrades built on their old home world to a new world.

How it works now: Influence currently accrues to the guild only on the world where the members participate in events. If the guild moves, then any upgrades are lost.

Intended audience:

  • Guilds that change worlds.

How it would change:

  • Guild accrues influence and builds improvements on World A.
  • Guild decides to move to World B.
  • After earning enough influence on World B, the guild pays an influence fee to move some/all of the improvements from A to B.
    • For example, if the guild might pay 500 influence to move the Guild Vault, which cost 2,500 influence to build (including upgrading the Architecture Level).
    • The guild would no longer have a vault on World A.

Other uses:
This might be helpful for guilds that have most of the members on one world, but a few stragglers elsewhere. They could decide to move their vault from the primary World C to the smaller chapter on World D and then rebuild the vault on World C.

Issues:

  • Amount to charge. Perhaps it should include coin.
  • Should the guild be required to move all upgrades? Or can they pick and choose?
  • How long would this take?

From the wiki:

Each time you are downed will incur one point downed penalty which will reduce your downed mode health by 25% and each point will last for one minute. When you have been downed five times within one minute you will be automatically defeated without the chance to fight back.

I would guess that you recovered recently from being downed one or more times.

You might try using the in-game /bug command if it happens again. That way ANet will have there when/where and can look at the logs. Without some additional data, it will be nearly impossible for them to troubleshoot something that is intermittent and difficult to reproduce.

The key point here being that there is a fixed value for players to aim at, so players stop undercutting for 1 copper and undercut in more appealing amounts.

Undercutting by 1 copper is a legitimate tactic. There is nothing wrong with it. I don’t see any reasoning above that explains why we should pay people to sell at certain prices.

Again, there is already an incentive to undercut for “more appealing amounts” — you sell your stuff more quickly.

According to people who opened 1,000s of gifts, the drop rates for goodies from the gifts (large or small) were very small:

  • Ugly sock/hat/sweater: ~85%
  • Snowflakes: ~10%
  • Recipes: ~1%
  • Skin: ~3%
  • Rune or Sigil: 0.1%
  • Unbreakable Bell or Endless Tonic: less than 1 chance in 100,000.

This is a fairly typical distribution for consumable boxes in an ANet game: lots of low-value stuff, with a small chance of something fun, and a tiny (or smaller) chance of something awesome.

You can tell if the game thinks you are still in combat by seeing if you can change your slot skills (you won’t have the little triangle). It’s fairly common to aggro something on the way up to a vista. Besides moving away, another work-around is to [F12] your character and restart it — you’ll be back at the vista and out of combat. (Don’t do this in WvW, since you are liable to respawn defeated and with broken armor — that’s the new penalty for quitting during combat.)

Monthly JP discovery bugged?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Illconceived Was Na.9781

Illconceived Was Na.9781

It depends on the JP; they don’t all give credit at the beginning — some do at the end. Of the three LA puzzles:

  • Weyandt’s gives credit when you reach the mouth, near the vista (beginning of puzzle).
  • Troll’s End gives credit when you jump in the well (beginning of puzzle).
  • Urmaug’s gives credit when you get to the chest.

(Testing notes: I kept the monthly achievement screen open, so I could see exactly when/where the “discovery” triggered.)

If you miss the “trigger” point, you won’t get credit (e.g. there’s a way to jump through the Sharkmaw mouth without triggering the JP “discovery”).

On the silver lining: you can repeat the same discovery on the same toon by returning to the trigger point. This works in overflow LA and I believe the reset for same shard is a few hours (but perhaps is 24 hrs). You can also use alts to “discover” the same puzzle.

I suspect this is working as intended, since it’s consistent with all sorts of other mechanics, e.g. carving pumpkins or building snowmen.

Only a few posts on the forum get lots of attention, but support tickets always get looked at by someone who is paid to help resolve issues (you will probably get a generic reply at first, which might not relate to the issue). Click on support at the top and then “ask a question” (no account needed — just an email address). Include your server and whether it happens in every zone or just some (or you don’t know because you are usually in the same place).

You want a longer term bonus? Change your gear. Consumables by their nature are meant to be transient and 30 minutes seem very generous (a few foods do have 45 minute buffs; a few potions have 60 minute buffs).

Chef is already a very useful crafting profession. I doubt that stacking food buffs is going to do anything to the food market. People who use consumable buffs already reserve several inventory slots and already buy lower-level buffs to save money, depending on how they want to use the food. Increasing the duration won’t encourage non-consumers to …consume.

I agree with this. The Engineer has tons of potential, but because it’s a less popular choice, the profession isn’t as well explored as Thief or Warrior. The BLTC works like a custom web browser and is subject to limitations similar to what you see for a website without permitting scripts to run, e.g. you might see the interface but without any item details or have a greyed out “buy” button.

There are things you can adjust at your end that will address this:

As noted above, restarting GW2 often resolves some/all issues (it’s the quickest and most reliable way to restart the awesomonium_process).

If none of the above helps your situation, then I strongly recommend you contact support. They will help you to troubleshoot the issue (which often involves asking you to run some diagnostic tests).

Although you can find other posts of people who have persistent issues connecting to BLTC, it’s relatively rare for players generally. In other words, it’s more likely the solution to the issue is on the client end, not on ANet’s.

Was the other server based on the other side of the Atlantic from your home world? For some reason, the game’s infrastructure doesn’t allow us to do this. Within that restriction, you can group with people from other servers for dungeons (and I believe for personal stories, although I haven’t tried to do that recently). In fact, gw2lfg.com assumes that people can group together (it does not require you to name your local server, only whether you are NA or EU).

My guild (and the others to which I belong) are happy to have members that only sometimes represent the guild. People can easily join our group activities when there’s nothing going on with their guild, but they can just as easily switch back to their default.

On the other hand, I can see how some guilds (particularly ones approaching 500 members) would want to know who represents 80% of the time versus who represents 20% versus those players who are rarely online at all. I agree that the guild structure could use help in this area.

There are some of those in the game already.

I believe there are others besides these.

Its funny maybe ten minutes after I posted this I got the “Jackoloping Along” achievement. What it did not feel like, was something special. "Oh look a skritt is making away with the treasure! Kill it! Bam! It was over that quick.

You got lucky — those skritt move quickly. I’ve been with a group of eight (two parties of four) when the burglar escaped (and no one turned into jackalope), while managed it solo on another occasion — certainly felt special to me.

Anyhow, the point is that there are a bunch of these in the game. The burglar is one of many skritt-related ones. Modus Sceleris is a set of different encounters. They each pop up randomly, so you can’t camp them.

I’d be happy to see more and see more variety in the types of achievements and requirements, but for now, I think it’s pretty fun.
