But what ANet could do is implement the exchange system which worked so well in the original Guild Wars. This system required of players to both confirm their exchanged/received items before the actual exchange was done. It worked flawlessly with exactly zero scam potential except in cases where players were extremely incautious.
Why they don’t do it in GW2 I can only guess but if I had to place my bet its simply because ANet doesn’t want people to circumvent trading post taxes etc.
Then it interferes with one of ANETS IGM sinks, so, it won’t happen and I support the use of the TP.

In truth, EL tonics were just expensive rubbish in the first and still serve that end in this game. (More so, since they can’t be traded). I don’t want minis either unless they serve some purpose. The only reason I wanted them in GW1 was because it got me skins here. How about birthday party related skins?
What is an EL tonic? Never seen one of those yet.

Yeah it’s pretty annoying, that’s why I never stack up in WvW unless I solo roam. Since if I try contribute to a group I melt in AoE’s. It’s really helpful in PvE though, since PvE is just trash mobs and such.
Though if you ask me, downed is a stupid mechanic to have in PvP.
I agree that a downed state should be removed from WvW and sPvP, there you should be alive or dead, no in between state.

Oh yeah you can also use a second account for when you want to be “alone”. I know you can log in invisible, but for some reason that doesn’t always work perfectly. Having a different account and not letting people know it’s yours is a way to have some private play time without the stress of people nagging you to run dungeons. lol

In my humblest of opinions, my belief is that ANET is focusing on pumping out bi-weekly temporary content rather than full attention on fixing bugs and other discrepancies to the current game with background work on a full expansion by orders from NCsoft.

The clues in the title MMO…Massive Multiplayer Online…your mean’t to play as a group…that’s the point?
Surely a ARPG would be a better choice of game, those revolve around solo play but you can play co-op if you fancy it…
I play solo only because of a disability that would slow the play-style of the party I’m in, the main reason I have been in the guild I’m in for 6 years, they know me and are more than happy to help when I’m in need and even welcome me in parties for dungeons and such adjusting their play-style to accommodate me, another reason is to just be on TS with others while doing things in-game. I loved GW1 and have a great fondness of GW2 even with it’s misfortunes.

Do people (a lot of people) really want harder content?
I ask because the Karka Queen is hard content, it even gives 2 rares as a reward, yet its completely deserted on the majority of servers…no one does it…
Also, Orr is made hard, huge complain thread…literally a ghost town…
AC dungeon changed, made harder, 80% of players never go near it again…again multiple huge complain threads…
The evidence seems to suggest only a small minority, but vocal on those forums want harder content?
Just saying, pointing out the facts, I have nothing against harder content personally…
As a solo player that tends to sit around in LA waiting for my hundreds of buy orders to get filled so I can make 10c if I get lucky… yes, I’d like to vanquish.
I also am a loner because I am slower than the normal player and enjoyed vanquishing in GW1, but, vanquishing was made impossible with how GW2 was made, it’s now not just you and your party and the enemy in the world.

Can we P L E A S E please please have a way to turn off our current story objective(s)?
since ruining dungeons (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Dungeon-Patch-Discussion-1-28/1314817) guarantees I’ll never complete the last step of what has become my primary character’s story line, i’m pretty tired of looking at “Victory or Death” up there in the top corner of the screen, and have even thought of doing the dungeon just so it would go away… till i attempt one and realize what a piece of garbage they are and come to my senses again and live with screen clutter and go back to playing WvW and live with it.
Since there’s UI revamp coming out anyway, why not add an option to hide story objectives (you do it in WvW) with some option in the options dialog? I’d love to never see anything PVE related on my screen again if i could toggle it.
Better yet.

As the topic title implies.
I play as a Ranger in every game that offers this class and is the only character I play because of dexterity issues, but, almost every time I turn around this class is continually hit with the nerf bat. Ranger(absolutely horrid in WvW, PvE and only mediocre in sPvP) is the #1 worst class to play next to the Warrior(at least this class is only lacking in WvW and sPvP).
Why does ANET, and it appears most of the community hate the Ranger so much?

I think it’s a valid complaint. A level 80 zone should reward level 80 armor.
Absolutely correct. If you are LvL 80 and in a LvL 80 zone you should be awarded nothing less than a LvL 80 reward. The reward vs. effort is absolutely terrible.

real life example for those that don’t get where I’m coming from.
you live alone and earn say $1000, this enables you to buy things and buy materials to create things. GW2’s idea of account bound rewards is in line with this
now you think hmm let me get a 2nd person and earn anotehr $1000 to enable me to buy more things , the game equivalent of this 2nd person is you need to lv it up and invest in it bofore you can actually profit from it. this would be alt gathering
now what the nay sayers are saying is this !
even if you have 2 jobs you are not allowed to earn more than the initial $1000 and even if you have a 2nd person that person would work and still not earn kitten ! now that you see this example doesn’t that sound insane, you should be able to earn rewards from that 2nd person/ character as well right ?

I’ve read this thread.. and others about COF, and there is one thing missing:
Citadel of Flame is the ONE dungeon that you can get everyone to run. Everyone wants to make gold running the legendary CoF p1 speed runs!
Think of it as the gateway dungeon. This is the dungeon where dungeon noobs come to cut their teeth, and it’s fantastic for that.
Once players are comfortable with the mechanics of the bosses, etc., it gives us more confidence to beat down the doors of the other dungeons.
It’s good to have CoF, just as it is. It still requires teamwork, even if that teamwork is how to port through the boulders or cleanly dispatch the acolytes.

I’m sorry but I have never seen a tax on something I bought on the TP. For LISTING an item to sell yes that’s called a LISTING FEE(fee not tax), but, not on purchases which is where a SALES tax comes into play. The fee to list something isn’t a sales tax. Think that you are at a grocery store.

Wow, every post argueing in favor of portals in this thread is being posted by mesmers. Those mesmers are immediately and vociferously attacking anyone who posts in support of my OP. I think this is very telling. I think that you know that portals are breaking the game and trivializing content. I think you know that you are wrong. I think that is why you are so aggressive. I think your breaking the game with posts like this and no I’m not a Mesmer I’m a Ranger(all I play is a Ranger). I happen to have a deficit that affects my co-ordination so jumping puzzles in general takes me hours at times to do, so, my thanks go out to all the Mezmers in the game.

No different from Guild Wars 1, where people would pay gold to get through dungeons or hard missions. Sometimes they could even AFK while doing it.
There are tons of people out there who love jumping puzzles, and tons of them who hate them. On woman in my guild has a real fear of heights. She’s never get zone completion in some zones without a mesmer’s help.
And in all honestly, because she doesn’t do dungeons or PvP at all, the open world is all she has. Why should her fear of heights be an issue.
I’m talking in this case about the few vistas that are at the end of jumping puzzles.
Jumping should have always been voluntary. Once they tied it up with map completion, I think the mesmer portal became necessary for some people.
This is a game, not an olympic event. And people did run people for money all the time in Guild Wars 1.
And nerfing jumping puzzle rewards is not enough of a problem to me to worry about it.
Exactly, I maxxed my bank and 13 characters with Plat. running the CoF dungeon in GW1.

I don’t see a way of nerfing the gold gain from the TP without heavily punishing everyone that uses it. I haven’t seen any ideas about how to do that either(at least not any realistic ideas).
If you’re talking about precursors then just stop. They’re already making that “scavenger hunt”. Nothing more can be done right now.
BTW banning people who make money off the TP is NOT a solution.
And about warrior DPS – nerfing 100b should be enough. Another good idea is to remove the ridiculous difference between classes’ base health points(60% difference?! the 8k HP difference between thief and warr is probably the biggest reason not to take a thief in CoF).

Okay there are X numbers of servers, and no matter what you can only guest to half of them. There are people in WvW, in different maps, people in fractals, people in dugeons, including the new dungeon, which would likely be more popular than old dungeons. There are people in personal story instances.
There are 25 big zones. There’s culling. Anything anyone guesses is a guess and nothing more. There are guilds running around that have hundreds of members in them. My guild has a hundred. Many people have left the game, because it’s not for them.
I guarantee you more people have left World of Warcraft in the last quarter than Guild Wars 2, and no one is saying WoW is dead.
This kind of question is not constructive. You’ll get group 1 saying it’s dead, many of whom don’t like the game and have their agenda. You’ll get group 2 saying it’s not dead, many of whom love the game and have an agenda.
And you still won’t know, so it’s down to who you choose to believe, which doesn’t make either side right.
Therefore, my answer to the question is the only answer that actually makes sense. Anet has the numbers and if they don’t release the numbers, anyone’s guess is as good as anyone else’s.
Which is to say, pretty much worthless.

Our guild and many others have soo many inactive members, 500 strong yet getting max of 70 to 80 online, is anet working on a system like guild wars 1 that shows when a member last logged, its impossible with the current system to see how active your members are
Not only this but about 75% of other things from GW1 should have been imported to GW2.
