10G/HR CoF Path 1 Farming [Guide]

Please show me the math of how this is ~10g an hour not including exotics/yellows/lodestones.
(assuming bar)

First boss = 14s
Acolytes Chest = 10s
Final boss = 22s
Completion reward = 26s + 13s + 6.5s + 6.5s(continuous thereafter) (assumes you did your daily batch already)

Lets say on average you get 12-15 blues/greens from drops (~1s each) = 12-15s

A speed run takes 7min (from zone, door open, Path vote to final boss). People tend to forget to include zoning + path voting time as part of their run time. The only way to get a time faster than 6min is to abuse a bug with skipping but lets say that you’re not doing that bug.

60min / 7min = 8.57 runs an hour.

1st run = 14s+10s+22s+12-15s+26s = 84-87s
2nd run = 14s+10s+22s+12-15s+13s = 71-74s
3rd run = 14s+10s+22s+12-15s+6.5s = 64.5-67.5s
4th run = 14s+10s+22s+12-15s+6.5s = 64.5-67.5s
5th run = 14s+10s+22s+12-15s+6.5s = 64.5-67.5s
6th run = 14s+10s+22s+12-15s+6.5s = 64.5-67.5s
7th run = 14s+10s+22s+12-15s+6.5s = 64.5-67.5s
8th run = 14s+10s+22s+12-15s+6.5s = 64.5-67.5s

Total = 5.42g – 5.66g (for first hour, less for consecutive hours until you reset DR)

Include your tokens for ectos, you get

1st run = 26-29 tokens
2nd run = 16-29 tokens
3rd run = 11-14 tokens
4th run = 11-14 tokens
5th run = 11-14 tokens
6th run = 11-14 tokens
7th run = 11-14 tokens
8th run = 11-14 tokens

Total = 108 – 132 tokens.
Which comes out to ~4 yellows ~ 4 globs ~ 4×37s = 1.48g

So in 1hr you have 1.48g + 5.42-5.66 = 6.9g – 7.14g.

7.14g/hr assuming you can maintain 7min run indefinitely. Most groups average 7.5-9min run from very start till the next startup. No rares/exotics/lodestones included. This number will also drop after the first hour since you no longer get full silver and max tokens. Please enlighten me where this is ~10g.

tl;dr: nothing else better to do at work.

You can interupt him when he goes with his sword in the air, that way he won’t get the buff

Wrong animation, Sword up in air = Icicle summoning aoe skill.

Sword into ground = Ice armor if absolute annoyance.

Refusing to adjust to the team in a “team content” is just outright rude. If you want to “play how you want to play”, feel free to do so when you’re the only one affected by how you play. It’s very selfish to have the team to “revolve” themselves around 1 player when the whole party should be trying to mesh together for synergy. I don’t want to hold a party back by being on the floor all the time because I’m too stubborn to grab a skill that’d save my life as well as everyone elses. I expect the same respect of the people I run with. If they don’t, well we’re not partying again.

Now personally, when I see bad players, I throw suggestions like, “Wall of reflect makes these so much easier, should try and get it if you don’t.” “Stand your ground would help us all with the knockdowns.”

There is nothing to laugh about. I am sure I could beat Simin with any given class combination. Only difference is some combinations might need 1-3 phases more but thats it.

Killing the trash groups is easy, if I would have to guess it would take about 15seconds per group. We do it this way, we go behind an edge so all trash group mobs go into one spot, guardian puts up wall of reflection against the projectiles and 4 warriors dps on it. If you try it you will be amazed how fast and easy the trash groups become.
The way the line of sight works in this game already small edges will break LOS and the enemies will stack up in one spot directly infront you.

I run speed runs and looking for ways to set record times on dungeon clears. There’s at least 3-4 packs I know off the top of my head that certainly takes more than 15s to kill. Example: Champion spider before Lyssa or Champion Giant (whichever route you choose). Champion mob in front of Lupicus Door. Champion(clarification) mob after Simin. Also those lovely veteran sharks after Simin.

I’m definitely open to seeing the possibility of it being done, I just want harder proof than “oh we did it”.

Its actually quite easy. We use 4 warriors (berserker with greatsword) and 1 guardian (berserker with hammer).

Im not doubting the team comp, im doubting the speed time clear. Just to be sure here, we’re talkin about killing everything along the path to the final boss since you claim you did no skipping.

I dont see a problem with path 4, my guild already did it in under 1h without skipping and exploiting stuff.

I would love to see this, killing all the trash mobs from beginning to end boss w/o having to go out of your way all in under 1hr.

How is this not an exploit? Maybe I missed something but how can you get a 10-15 toon into a dungeon that is level 75 explorable? Do you get upleveled?

If this happened to me I would just stand back and watch them try to kill the boss on thier level 15’s.

They’ve known about it since week 2 of game release. Dungeons have no level restrictions, only recommended levels. Back in the days, you could get a toon from lvl 2 to 20-25 in 1 cof run. Now they’ve scaled it to 70% of your bar no matter what level you are. If it was an exploit, they shouldve/wouldve removed it a long time ago. Either that, or they really suck at coding and havent figured out how to change it.

Not really, in this video they failed at 1st spark run and she reappeared at ~75% but they were still able to damage her beyond 50%.

Yeah that happened to me as well a few times couple weeks ago. When I did it again last week, it would restealth repeatedly at 50%. So honestly, I have no clue if anything was changed.

Were you there? No, this was clearly a bug. And how are you suppose to get the sparks into the slots before they spawn? First thing simin did was to go invisible and regen to 55/60% while sparks were spawning in, so she gets stuck at 50%

Have you learned to use the search button yet? I suggest you do so before haviz continues to enjoy himself trolling you.

Dont think you understand, the problem wasnt the dps or regen, the problem was that simin went invisible at 50% no matter what we did. If she startes at 60% she wou ld go away at 50%, if she started at 100% she would go away at 50% like she was stuck in phase 1

I dont think “YOU” understand. Look at the thread with 200+ posts on it regarding this same topic. Simin will restealth at 50% if you let her regen up to 60%. That’s a spark running problem.

If your party cant handle the spark running, do the 4-1 method.

Little over an hour on average.

It’s mostly luck. I’ve had some runs where we’d start with swamp, then do underwater, then do ascalon, and finish the run in 40 minutes. I’ve had some runs where we’d start with dredge, then do volcano, then do cliffside.

You can cycle through the maps to ensure getting swamp/underwater first. If you care to do just that.

several things

1. Your warriors are glass cannons and dont know how to maximize dps.
2. Your warriors are not actually specced for dps regardless of glass cannon armor.
3. Your tear thrower leaves people petrified too long.
4. Your party is too slow at bringing in the sparks.
5. You should use the search button to post in the millionth thread about simin.

That is a statement. I am still genuinely confused at to what the OP is trying to argue here. (I’m gonna discuss with you since OP seems not know the art of discussion, judging by his latest rambling).

He is not arguing anything, he is merely stating the fact that The Destroyer boss was made into a joke boss compared to how it was prior to the patch.

Example: I think lupicus is an easy boss, i love his mechanics (most unique boss in game with more than 5 attack skills). If they nerf him to oblivion / gut his hp / make his attacks tickle, I would say that they have turned him into a joke boss. An easy boss made even easier.

It is easier because I don’t need to go back up the stairs or the panels since we can kill it in one go. Less risk of dying + faster kill time = easier. However amount of less risk or faster time itll take to kill the boss, that change still amounts to the meaning of “easier”. Is it as noticeable? Maybe not, but for groups who used to take 2-3 drop downs to only needing 1, thats a 100-200% risk increase of having someone make a mistake.

And, as I said, if you forced them to do it 1000 times then the probability of someone eventually kittening up once goes up. The actually challenge and difficulty didn’t. Not to mention you didn’t actually need to go up and down. With pugs I usually just did it 3-2: 3 people spamming the cannons and 2 DPSing. Boring, but completely risk free.

Not sure what part of “I don’t need to go back up since we can kill it one go” is hard to grasp as easier compared to “after going down to dps, we have to go back up another 1-3 times”. Faster kill = less window for mistakes = easier. Boss mechanic did not change, its difficulty did not change, but easy doesnt only measure that aspect.

Ever since they patched it (1.5months ago I believe), you could only get vials from 1-9, globs from 10-19, and shards 20+. Unless they reverted it at some point, I’m pretty sure that info is outdated. All the guildies I have that do 30-40+ have yet to complain they got a vial at any level past 20. When i run lvl 20-30+ fractal on my lvl 1-9 alt, I still get vials only.

I also agree with this, alongside, Randall needs to be either have a ranged weapon or be totally passive! he gets in the way so many times! And Giganticus Lupicus on all paths needs to stop summoning 2 grubs simultaneously into phase 2 and nerf his phase 2 attacks. many of my parties have dropped like flies and it is impossible to revive since he’ll assault ressurectors! not all playsers have cat like reflexes!

Not all players have what it takes to do everything in the game.

Yeah, a guy in one of my lv 24 groups had a vial drop for him too. I thought that wasn’t supposed to happen.

Then he was on a character thats lvl 1-9 fotm. The essence drops are scaled on your tier as well.

How much of a “dungeon master” (think beyond having a title) are you if you can’t clear an encounter and just keep asking for nerfs. Too many people think they deserve everything =/.

Poor Elementalists, Necromancers , Rangers, Engineers, and Guardians who came here based on the thread’s title.

We actually timed ourselves and the difference between running Mesmer/Warrior/Warrior/Thief, and M/W/W/T/T; was about 45 seconds longer.

The 5th person makes very little difference unless your going for time trials. ;D

Theres a pretty random factor in timing speed runs for p1 that causes discrepancies with the final boss. Sometimes you’re lucky to not get crystals summoned for a good 60% of the fight, along with knockdown. Other times he’ll chain a series of attacks thats not optimal for dps’ing. Itll vary here and there as well as how well the mesmer can utilize reflects. A really good mesmer will alternate iWarden with feedback to get the most out of not getting knocked down + a spike of burst damage on the boss.

But yes, I personally could care less of whats in my group as long as we’re getting 1 food = 3 runs. My optimal premade group gets 4 runs per 1 food, but i don’t expect my pug’s to think in the same lines of maximizing efficiency as much as I do.

Joke boss refers to the fact that you can kill him in one jump down now when it used to take 2-3 AT BEST. Ive seen people die more times cause they dont know how to get back up w/o dying pre patch than post patch cause now theres less risk of dying from going back up if he’s already dead.

But it’s not any easier now. It’s just less boring and repetitive.

And yes, if you forced people to repeat it 500000 times then you’d find a lot more people would die during that event. It still wouldn’t be harder as a challenge. Just more repetitive. And the more you repeat something the higher the chance that someone will eventually kitten up once.

A lot of the “bosses” in the dungeons were never really challenging to begin with, just grindy and boring. I’m glad they’re reviewing them and, at least, making them less tedious meanwhile.

A dungeon, that has decent drop from trash, maybe chance at t6 mats, small chance at rares maybe etc…but does not really reward you at the end EXCEPT the chance at a pre-cursor or a super rare item like Volcanus.

It would be easy to medium difficulty to promote running it.

Would you guys run a dungeon with reduced silver, but increased trash drops and the chance to get a possible 200-500G+ item at the end? instead of now, where you get like 40s+ for dungeons, but chance at drops are like slim to none

They wont be 200-500g for long if this is implemented.

Can I have a benchmark – what’s the average time it takes your team to put the sparks in, haviz? Or any team that can beat this fight without ridiculous DPS.

From the times I’ve ran it, averagely takes about 8-15 seconds depending on who’s doing it. Easier to do with a class with blinks + speed buffs.

The purpose isnt for tokens, its for helping the desperate teams. The tokens are just a bonus.

i knew someone `wise` like you would respond. i just didnt expect it would be in 5 mins..so gratz you win. also imagine a mediocre player maybe has a kids to feed and work to do and when he gets home from work he doesnt want to spend 6 hours of fails in 1 dungeon (not by his fault maybe?, cuz you need 4 geared, experienced ppl for this). so maybe you are pro, and handsome and cool and you spend 23 hours a day near your pc im happy for you and gl. but dont worry this path will get nerfed. even if there will always be ppl like you telling us how easy this path is. hell, you maybe even did this when simin was glitched – you could hit her in stealth so…shhhhhh

Oh how I love hearing the tears of someone who has nothing else better to say other than “I have a life and you don’t” as if that is some form of valid argument why they should be spoonfed. Dungeon master is not for everyone, you are not entitled to getting it because you are busier in real life than other people. Theres people selling the run, hell even carrying people to do this path.

Everytime i do this boss for people who need story mode done, I dont really have any advice for them regarding the hunter’s call other than, “you need both your dodges + heal skill and chances are you’ll still down. It’s pretty much guaranteed but we’ll just pick you up when you down.”

Join a guild if you want to be more social, it’s way more fun and easier to talk over voice chat while dungeon running.

We always joke and talk about random stuff and try to troll each other to intentionally kill people since at this point dungeons are pretty easy for us.

It’s not as fun typing to random strangers while trying to actually play the game, so most people don’t do it.

I have fun gettin strife killed in CoE path 2 Husk boss before final alpha. We pretty much turn the room into a minigame on who can kill their teammates the most with the mini golems.

You just don’t get it lol. The monthly is designed to grasp different aspects of the game from WvV to Dungeons to Fractals to Crafting/Salvages to Dynamic Events. Whats “hard” and what isnt is going to be subjective to the masses since people will prefer one thing over the other. It isn’t about being too hard or too easy, it’s about getting you to do everything regardless of whether you like it or not “IF YOU WANT YOUR MONTHLY COMPLETED”.

What exactly does your post do to help the OP?
Nothing at all, so instead of posting your useless comment, its best you you don’t post at all. Its apparent that the OP must have already had a bad experience, there is no benefit to kicking him while he is down.

Also just because you have done 700 Fractals, means nothing in this context…I have done well over a 1000, but that’s a pointless fact to bring up.
Players like yourself ruin an amazing game for all.

Common denominator. Two parties, two sets of pugs, what was the common denominator? Some people refuse to look in the mirror on what they could do better so things like this doesnt happen to them. Call it cruel, mean, heartless or whatever you like, fact is, he is a common denominator of both parties. In your 1000+ fractals, have you gotten kicked twice in a row in the same day? Also, not to mention, the guy has a history of screaming blasphemy if things aren’t “his way” of thinking.

While it might be him, i dont think kicking right before the end is something that should be allowed. Also your comments about “It must be you” is not going to help him. Thats just trolling!

This is pretty much THE defining benefit of having a Thief aside from Shadow Refuge. It definitely does work on bosses, because shooting through the poison field (weakness on poison) applies weakness at such a fast rate that the boss will never be able to shake it off.

Skale venom, 100% uptime on weakness if your whole party uses it. No need to ever have a class just for it.

I had a thief come into my TA run and when I asked if he could stealth us, he replied: “I don’t have stealth in my build.”

The only thing that a thief is really good for is that stealth which is becoming more and more useless with the stealth kits (10s and the 3s spyskits)

glad that it will probably get a complete revamp. CoF is the easiest dungeon out there and attracts the most noobs in berserker.

Because spending 20 minutes in Arah for the same reward is just THRILLING >:3

Also what do you mean by noobs in berserkers?
Talk to any 40+ fractal group, you’ll find 1 Guardian in Clerics, 1 Necro in Carrion, and 3 people in Berserkers.

You have to be REALLY skilled to run in Berserker. Most in CoF that run Berserker are not skilled even the least and yet they think of themselves as the best around and would boot anyone in any kind of different gear (they boot non warriors too), even though a guardian could deliver more damage with a hammer than a warrior, a condi type warrior can do the same amount of damage as a regular or more and a toughness based dude can make sure that others don’t sit on their kitten for too long.

This is prob the funniest thing I have read or watched all day hands down.
Like I was LITERALLY laughing at my desk hysterically with tears rolling down my face. My roomate came to check on me cause she thought I was having a breakdown.

Its funny and yet its true. Ive had friends I ran hundreds of cof runs with, but the moment i take them into coe/arah, they could not do anything but mash their DPS skills eating every single attack regardless of me telling them what to dodge. 10-15 runs later of coe/arah, they are still dying to the same stupid attacks. They’re pretty kitten efficient at running cof in full berserker, but they can’t handle taking that full berserker outside of cof.

Reality is that there are alot of really really really really bad players that use full zerker while the most efficient / fastest players also use full zerker. Baddies trying to be pro’s =/.

I don’t like doing certain things, but I will do them because I want my monthly done.

If Anet gave a precursor for doing all 100% of jump puzzles, you can bet some people would have a horrendous time getting it done while others will gladly be pleased at how easy it is. Not everything is meant for everyone. If you want it, regardless of whether you like it, you’ll do it.

This doesn’t sound like a beginner’s guide. Just a tutorial. And I feel like most of these are a given for people who do them. It’s not that hard to get down, a better guide would be how other non-dps dependent classes approach it imo.

It’s a beginners guide to CoF P1 Farming.

If you want this guide to include other classes the petition AN to buff their damage.

Ah…right. I guess what I’m trying to say really is that you are actually really neat in writing a dungeon guide, very comprehensive and clear, but I am just flustered at why out of all the dungeons you choose to write one for, you choose cof path1 because it covers such a small percentage of players. I mean, are there really that many zerk warriors out there that do not know how this works? I feel like (“just follow me and dps!”) is pretty sufficient for this path in particular. Given your technique in explaining, your write-up abilities would be far better useful for something like Arah Seer Path (p4).

Honestly this took me about 2 hours to make, and yes CoF path 1 makes you INSANE amounts of money right now it is INSANELY broken. There are A LOT of players who farm CoF path 1 for this reason. Learning the tips and tricks to turning your 10 minute group into a 5 minute group requires you to either learn it yourself or run in a group that teaches you the techniques. Many players are excluded from CoF farm groups because of inexperience and they never learn how to at least PRETEND to be experience long enough to GET experienced.

Also, if there weren’t already 100 guides for every dungeon path out there on youtube, I’d consider it.

It is not INSANE amount of money anymore. It is fast but the amount of money for completing the path had adjusted. If you are running P1, pay attention to the reward money at the end, you will see the drop. Also, if you are running P1 for more than an hour now with MF gears, the loots won’t be good and reward money at the end is around 13s/run. I tested yesterday for 2 hours and I hit the DR ceiling for loots and money after an hour.

The money doesnt come from the end reward, its from the 2 bosses + 3 chests (chance at lodes / yellows / exotics) and garbage to npc.
