Extra description for the lfg and it would be as clear as a sunny day. For example: SE p3, speed clear, melee clown car. CM speed clear, stealth skip, etc. The poster is expected to fill the key role tho.

Because sometimes speed clear party has to pug one slot. And i met Lua and co. in such occasions. Honorable mention would be my bro Langrim. Most of the time, speed clear group was formed by invitation/referral between friends of friends though.

One thing i forgot to ask: what do you think of the burning precision trait?

Once you have three shout heal wars in your team (lol) then this build is a beast. But if you have three zerker thieves/or rangers or mesmer, then d/d ele is your way to go. While the signet build has more safe stomp (swirling wind, obsidian focus, signet of air), it has less useful cc to prevent res and stomping and is generally weaker in courtyard. But against the turret engi plague, signet build has an upper hand and it’s less squishy than any zerker build.

Heck, I am sold the moment i see my lightning whip crits nicely. I love me a healthy amount of fury. Now is thry can fix the -20% Condi duration, it would be the extra cherry on top.

@Steven: I was so sure that we could have lost the game. The wars were farmed hard by the enemy’s pain train and my friend had to swap to engi to carry the rest of the match. We won by killing two beasts tho :p

Well, bleeding is really strong in this build. I think Doom acts more as carpeting condis. I’m also positive that this build has an edge over the d/d cantrip one. The big downfall is the escape ability and cleanse management.

Holy molly, this build is super fun! I’m still light years away from mastering it. But from what I have experienced, it’s a bit weak against condi/cc pressure. I had a close match 1v1 against engi, we were both down but his crate and down skills just killed me. Same goes for S/D thief, their stun and evade is annoying. In a team fight, I have to behave like a thief; standing on point among people spamming skills would get me down very quickly. It’s also not good if enemy team stacks immobilization. But for plus 1 a small team fight, it’s devastating.

Well, pre stacking might is important for the initial burst with ice bow. To be fair, Zelyhn doesn’t play staff in pve as often i guess. For D/F, pretty much charge in and ramp up your might.

Upon invesigation. The rating is decided by one individual, Chase (he moved the mesmer build from Meta to Great and today to Good). Won’t even bother to keep track of metabattle. What the kitten even, how can a build become outdated if nothing changes in the meta?

I would love to have at least these 2 filters:

1: state your level of expertise : beginner, intermediate, and advanced.
I would assume that the most toxic players would most likely be in advanced setting so new players will more likely get a friendlier experience. This also means that advanced players who are willing to teach beginners can change their level of expertise setting to help newbies(Noob mentors are a good example of this)

2: What classes you want in your party:
4 slots: default = any and you just select the class that you want
so example could be:
level of expertise: beginner;
slot 1: any
slot 2: any
slot 3: any
slot 4: any
level of expertise: advanced;
slot 1: ele
slot 2: ele
slot 3: war
slot 4: guard
You can only see groups in your level of expertise.
You can see the desired classes option in the LFG so you can get a sense of how well people know the meta and how loose they want their group comp to be then you can join the appropriate group. Of course if you are running necro as advanced you can only see groups with necro desired or any options so GL(troll face)

Now there is no guarantee that people will be running meta builds but if a person thinks they are advanced it is more likely they will be running meta builds

I can smell the “advanced” level of experitise as “try-hard” red alert.

If anything could be used as a filter option, the number of Hobby Explorer is a possibly acceptable indicator. Well, one person may have his DM title and do AC religiously everyday for a year can get quite a bit of points as well. But then, I don’t really expect that kind of people to show up in anywhere outside AC anyways. So it’s still a win-win.

Speaking from my experience as the person in charge of Noob guild and currently guest member of SC and rT, I would like to say there are many ways to that success.

First and most popular, befriend veterans and frequent posters of the dungeon subforum and get to join their casual friendly run. While its efficiency is only 70-80% of the real record run, you get to know the people outside their record grind and familiarize yourselfwith their tactics. It is still a world different from generic pug “speedrun”.

Second method is to train yourself at your own pace by solo the dungeons. Many great players I know spent a great amount of resources and effort to learn the encounters and master the trades themselves. Such is the case with most members of rT.

Thirdly, it is to find a great mentor and study everything from him/her. Many accomplished players are happy to help newbies become better. Maybe not all of them have the time for it and it’s by pure chance to find the right person for you. But do keep an eye out for a great player whom you come across and well, stalk them, ask for advices and help.

Last but not least, be prepared to work for it.

I don’t just 1v1 with zerker d/d ele. In fact, it’s far greater potential in team fight. It’s true that it’s a yolo build as once focused, it’s hard to getting peeled. But again, most of the time I play d/d ele to support team fight. For 1v1, pretty much thief or engi would fare much better

I think it’s going off topic. What I mean to say here is celestial d/d isn’t the be-all end-all of ele pvp builds, depending on what type of pvp activities you are participating.

Wait, what!!! I play zerker d/d (and soon to be d/f) and it’s not even that hard against war/guard/thief/ranger. The encounter that I have most trouble with is against good sword/x/gsword mesmer. Their burst is annoyingly strong even with 100% protection up time. Next would be Power Lich Necro because getting any hit would mean gg for zerker ele. Engi is a fair game though.

D/D ele is still a well-rounded play style for either bunker spec or fast assaulting spec. One of the best d/d zerk ele I know is a streamer called Lite. Watching him rekt everything is pure bliss #fangirl.

I want it. With different burst rotations and sustainable dps rotations.

Just condi. When people tend to drop off after the first or second cannon phase, the condi damage becomes more consistent with one or two people left standing. The immobilization on pistol 5 is quite useful, too. I tend to run 42044 or 24044 for that fight.

Hey,

If you play staff for its safety, tankiness and CC goodness, you should go for the standard bunker spec: 00266 with Earth’s Embrace and Blasting Staff. For healing, you should get Ether Renewal. Utilities wise, I usually take Lightning Flash, Armor of Earth (against heavy CC comp) or Arcane Shield (against burst comp) and one variable. I’m not a good staff player myself. From what I observe, the cele staff ele usually goes very defensive during team fight and only switch to offensive when their team has an advantage.

You would try to dish out CC as frequently as possible, while not waste all of them at the same time. Generally, you want to swap in and out water frequently as well, trying to trap people in your Frozen Ground field and Lava Font on them. Try to stack might in between whenever you’re in either fire or earth attunement and make sure to land it near or on enemies for damage as well. Most of the part, you need to react to the circumstance while not blowing out all your cd at once.

@Xyonon: 3-4 k DPS is realistic over 1:40 fight of Lupi including reflect. No jokes. Recently I recorded myself in a pug run and 5k + DPS for mesmer can only be achieved with proper fury/might/banner/Lightning Hammer/Time Warp buff. On the other hand, ele can self-buff and do tons of damage. Leaving out Ice bow for them would be rather ridiculous.

So this time my friend (playing thief) and I decided to pug CM. In path 1, we were asking for experienced only and had this new guard join. Despite being asked to leave, he decided to stay and ceased all communication. As the challenge presented itself, we let him stay. Wish he could have show some intention to cooperate with us. #puglyfe.
