The reason I have swapped to staff lately is because folks in my group are either chicken (panic run too much) or poorly supporting (no one cleanses the weakness on me when it is ready to burst him). So I mainly just staff while strafing around the kitten aoe.

I bet most of the fight your attention only narrows down to “not get too much hit” instead of “watching the tell and react appropriately with the skills ready in my kitten nal”. Your fight will be long as you hit like a wet noodles and once your allies drop, you instantly think to yourself "Let’s wipe, becauseI’m just a squishy no damage ele.

@ Jerus: I agree with your tl;dr except that the story was 2v2. Two wanted to watch cutscene and two mentioned not to. Now it only takes two to kick people. It hardly becomes a scenario when a phiw went against the group and deserved to be kicked. What irked me the most is the general reaction of most “pro-kick” response. “Hey OP, we only heard half of the story from your version. You must have kitten ed more in the whole truth. Therefore, we believe you deserved to be kicked. Sorry no sympathy. Signed, jerk.”

First of all things, try to group mobs up by line of sight then take advantage of your blast aoe to cleave them. Blind is your best active defense at this stage and requires minimal investment. Take either lightning hammer or glyph of storm, instead of either arcane wave or signet of fire. Additionally, get a sigil of energy or buying the Renewing Arcana as soon as you can if you prefer D/x melee play style. The frequent dodge helps tremendously. Something like Dishonor system I can agree with.

Or make everyone in the group eligible to agree/disagree with the kick and only kick when majority agrees.

Movement Signets are good in Mai Trin Fractals, unless you have perma swiftness.

I was doing some dungeons with some new people tonight. We rolled a full team of a sura. Oh my god, it was so cute that i had to capture my CM p2 run. Gonna upload it once the video finishes compressing ^^

1./2. The rock throwing thing can be done with clicking on consumables such as harpy feather in the middle of the throw.

3. Skip doesn’t really matter when you have the damage of the ele. Free champ bags.

• Staff guardian
• Scepter ele
• Double pistol thief
• Hammer/sword/rifle warrior
• Terrormancer necro
• Greatsword mesmer (especially the one that makes bold comments like “this group’s DPS s*cks”)

I give my benefit of doubt to ranger and engi. My bro’s ranger is the best of his kind in fractals and I can play engi decently with both condi and power builds. So I trust people who walk in to fotm 50 to have that kind of confidence and skills to back it up. Once I’m skeptical, I can check their HP and it’s just plain easy to figure out what builds they are using and whether they’re bad or not.

Once in a while, I’m surprised at how some of my acquaintances invited to the runs act worse than PUG. To my group, it’s all about communication and experience with the tactics we used. Once we get it clear, it’s generally smooth.

I used to not like the warrior’s way but Sesshi proves me that it can be fluid and beautiful. Dub shows me how it can be really kitten and Wethospu with his creative way with warriors. It’s all about perspectives.

So everytime someone needs to run Phalanx and to be able to spam gsword 2 at their leisure, they need to look for an engi to stack vuln? Great advice!

@Tom: I joined these guys’ lfg a couple days ago. They are solid but they whined too much and went on kick rampage. When I saw the guild tag, I was reminded of Miku’s side guild. Out of respect, I didn’t say anything during the run. But it went on rather ridiculous with the elitist attitude and my friend’s rage was rather funny and in line with my opinion about “party kick and blaming” in general. So I quoted.

“[No level required] Let’s walk lightly in Up path” → LFG was pending for 20 minutes, unfilled.
“[80 only] Experienced, Zerker meta, Up path” → LFG was filled within 2 minutes.

The run still ended well though.

Leave him be. Someone who thinks that contents are designed majorly with pick-up-groups in mind clearly doesn’t seem to align his idea with ours. Have a nice day!

We are still talking about the Grawl Shaman encounter right? It’s still about dungeons and fracrals, right?

Why do we even mention about WvW? Last I remember, necro is better than all but guardian in WvW and every raid group has a couple of power ranger to snipe the enemy drivers, whereas thief being the least important role. But that’s a whole other matter.

Back to the topic, no other classes are better than the elementalists. And bad guards are equal to bad necro/ranger/thief/war/ele/engi/mesmer. You shouldn’t ask for a specific class in a pug group. Only thing we can do is pray for a good understanding and communication.

The more I read, the more I feel like chasing a rabbit down to the rabbit hole. He said ppl want “heavy only groups” for a reason (to which I say that they are bads and any of us knows not to join these group), then start saying how important ele and thieves are (???) How do these two arguments ever relate?

With a bad group and bad skills you get rolled no matter your gear. With a good group you can run naked and die every fight but still get through easily.

Of course defensive utilities or even traits should be used whenever needed because those can be always changed.
