Dire light armor for Triple Troubles Celestial is easier to pool from all healing, condi, and defense boxes so I would wait until your condi set is finished first.

Yeah necros arent terrible in that fight either. Blinds work on the adds and you can chill and immob the shaman plenty (dark path unblockable). Also minion arrow baits. Although i would personally stock up on 3 wells for every necro.

Darn, you stole my spot light. I was also thinking that 5 necro will get an easy time here with blind, chill and fear (yes, chill then fear). Your ideas of Minion Master is nice, too. The adds hit hard but have low HP. Even 1 condimancer would be viable. Hmmm… hmmm…

5 eles? Please, they will cheese through it. Do they really think that all ele has is icebow? Proof for having not played the class (at all).

5 rangers? Rangers have reflect, too. I’m a tiny bit concerned about the cleave, but I don’t play ranger enough to have any say here. I’ll leave that to deSade.

Might stacking strategy question

in Elementalist

Posted by: Iris Ng.9845

Iris Ng.9845

Thanks for the response Sovereign. Do you explicitly burn your dodge roll to gain might?

My question is basically, should I do something like burn a dodge roll when not needed to gain might? Or should I just fight and let might slowly grow over time and save the abilities never really knowing if there will be a good opportunity for them?

The damage of your ele lies in your might stack. The quicker you gain a full stack of might, the longer you maintain it will determine your odd to win the fight 1v1 or even 1v2. I would say, focusing on getting your might stack when your HP is still plenty, and go a bit more defensive when you start losing your advantage. That is dodging in Air to blind thief, hambow, power ranger. Dodge into Fire to keep up your Burning on engi, mesmer, ranger, guard, etc (It deals great damage when your might stack is high). And of course, dodge into water for healing and condi cleanse.

Might stacking strategy question

Your current rotation will cost yourself a melt down against veteran players. The reason is they cause no pressure. Your opponent can either interrupt you or walk away from your aoe range and burst you while you already blow out two important attunements for defense: water and earth.

Phantaram has demonstrated his rotation something like: Burning Speed (to your oponent) → Ring of Fire, strafe a bit → Dodge into earth attunement → Magnetic Grasp (to pin down your opponent) → Earthquake → Ring of Earth, while activate your Magnetic jump to gain Fire Aura → Swap to Water attunement during the jump and Frozen Burst → Frost Aura. Then you can swap to Air to kite them around with your auto attack.

If you anticipate a longish 1v1, feel free to use your CC against your opponent’s big skills. For example, to interrupt Ether Renewal or chain interrupt the engi when their rifle is out. If it’s in a 2v1 fight, save it to interrupt banner and res.

PS war is really really essential in fractals. Sometimes the ele just has to go staff and the loss of might buff for the whole party is detrimental to the group dps.

Never, at any point ever, is it essential to take a phalanx warrior. It makes things easier and is sometimes better, yes, but essential? Not in the least bit

Not in the sense that you have to have a PS war every single time to complete a run. But in a sense that if your group cannot have enough might, may as well be prepared to swap to PS. Should I say that trait is essential or must have?

If it was true and I was looking to speed up my solo run, I would exit the dungeon and start again if I didn’t get him on the first coffin.

A better option: spamming the coffin until you get the guard and LOS all the mobs to kill them. If you get overwhelmed, then restart the dungeon.

At least, that’s what all the trio and groups use to speed up this part.

I would love to hear that too. But as usually with negative feedback, nothing useful is really given.

Not to mean sound harsh but I personally feel it’s a bit waste of (your) time to make a competing guide for gw2dungeons.

I’ve only looked at one guide on gw2dungeons and it had either misleading or missing information so I didn’t put a lot of stock into it. I’m sure not every guide is like that but it is off-putting when you go to a supposedly reliable source and you know more about the encounters yourself just from playing through.
-snip-

Please elaborate on the bold statement. Which details are misleading or missing? Since I use gw2dungeon.com as my teaching material. I would love to verify it myself.

I will give you one solid example since it occurs at the very start of the guide, but I won’t be doing your proof-reading for you.

AC Story:
Room is filled with lots of coffins and 2 blue dusts. Opening a coffin may spawn an Elementalist, a Mesmer, a Monk, a Necromancer, a Ranger, Warrior or ~7 Spider Hatchlings or cause a knockdown. One of them will ALSO spawn a Gateguard.
This is worded to say that the gate guard is in one specific coffin and you have to open them until you find him ie. you could get lucky and find him on your first coffin. This is not true, he always spawns after a certain number of coffins (I believe it is 6-7 *its 7).

As far as I know from my numerous attempts to run AC story record, the number is RNG. You can get the Gate Guard out as early as in the third coffin.

.__."

It’s like you always get a Risen Berserker at the gate to Lupi arena after p1 and p2. While it is 99% of the time true, it’s not the sole fact. You have a very very rare chance to see a Risen Ilusionist instead. This knowledge may be obsolete to me, because I never encounter him but have been pooled out from the community. Just like a lot (if not all) of info in gw2dungeons.net. Most of the veteran runners like me still have to re-check the mob info (monster type, skills, cast time, cool down) there when we try a new optimization. The site has higher credit than you think. Last but not least, if you find there is a questionable detail, please at least give us a head up to verify it instead of bashing it off as a weak argument.

Back during launch and a few months after, before Berzerker everything started to be too prevalent or required, I would do many dungeons on my Bunker Guard. It was interesting doing it with people who were Zerker’s and doing the whole zerker farm at the time because you could tell they weren’t actually learning anything mechanics wise about the bosses. Half the time these people would explode in less “optimized” groups that weren’t doing as much dps, and many times I soloed half the bosses in the instance by rolling appropriately, deflecting, debuffing, knowing the mechanics, and healing out my kitten .

Oh it’s an endless gold mine!

That sounds like Nikaido. A year ago, he made a healing guard to roll with me and Jeth as zerker ele and war. We actually killed everything and even trolled colesy. He isn’t wrong about “carried by dps”.

It certainly makes the game unfun for anyone. I can’t even report him because his case doesn’t fit any category. So, how would I react if it happens again?

I kind of like the boss. I prefer them like this than requiring huge amounts of coordination. Still havent finish my Wurm achievements.

The individual champions were a little weak because who can really be a threat to a zerg? But they atleast forced players to pay attention with those area of effect mechanics and they had some fairly decent design elements (easy to ignore because of zerg). Its nice that they took design elements from marionette and made it less dependant on the failings of individuals. I was a little disappointed there was no final encounter after destroying all 3 champions though.

Totally agree. Plus, the RNG loves me this time. I’ve been getting chests upon chests.

Hey, I’m new to PvP, only close to 400 played games so far. The current matchmaking has been giving me great matches. Except from the occasional blowouts (500-0, never forget!), I’ve met many great returning players. Some of them were within top 50 of the old leaderboard. They have low MMR but they are so skilled that I could learn a thing or two by fighting them. Builds wise, I’m using the so called meta celestial d/d ele and engi right now. I’ve learned that without experience and a good rotation, I cannot make use of these builds and get trained/focused hard. Play style is far more important, in my opinion. My friends prefer to play glassy condi engi and they can utterly annihilate everything.

I say it depends on the map. Certain builds and classes fare significantly better on a certain map. For example,

  • mesmer have advantages in big map like Legacy of Foefire

Foefire is the worst map for mesmers.

Well, from my experience, good mesmers use portal and rotate efficiently there. They are very hard to pin down and are really good at coordinating burst with thief/ele/engi to win mid fight. My friend always swaps to mesmer when our team has foefire and we have met great success.

So seems like some sort of a meeting to discuss rules

I figured this would happen. Weird how like 3 days ago I said, “I’ll bet there will be a meeting where ‘passionate’ rT members try to dupe the community into scrapping the restricted ruleset and totally destroy the SC community.”

I can already see it now. The destruction of the restricted rule set. Executioners Axes, harpy feathers, tonics, Hylek pots, watchwork portals. Have fun guys.

If that’s what a meeting ends up deciding then wouldn’t that mean it’s the more popular option?

Persuasive demagoguery + change for the sake of change has been known to override good sense.

I think there’s been enough reasonable commentary in this thread to warrant a discussion, not even including the talk about jumping puzzles and unrestricted stuff.

on the Jumping puzzle stuff being allowed, my only concern is when someone tries to submit a record where they teleport through a wall or something. I would like to see some of the JP stuff allowed, but how do you phrase the rule to allow that but not allow teleporting through some broken wall? just seems like an issue that could arise.

You can blink through the wall to make the orb skip faster without the need of portal/shadowtrap as demonstrated by our friend Anubau.

  • Power rangers do very very well in Temple of the Silent Storms
  • Power rangers, staff ele, mesmer have advantages in big map like Legacy of Foefire
  • Turret engis on small nodes or engi in general do best in compact maps like Forest, Khylo and Spirit Watch
  • Thief and mesmer have terrain advantage in Khylo and Spirit Watch
  • Power necro are especially scary in Skyhammer and Khylo (Clock Tower)
  • Classes which bring reflection/projectile blocking and war banner (by warrior) are really good in Courtyard

Just my two cents.

I thought it was heading more towards allowing minor jumping puzzles (but still do all objectives) and keeping consumables disallowed.

How would you feel about leaving JPs (even minor door hops) out of restricted runs, but making unrestricted runs more competitive as proposed earlier?

I’m not sure door hops belong in restricted runs — if a door is supposed to be opened by an event / boss kill, bypassing it before it opens is unintended and thus shouldn’t be allowed.

But if unrestricted runs were made more competitive, we could see these tactics put to use.

That would disallow every Arah p3 records of this year I have ever known.
