Hey, it’s purely old DPS number without considering the biggest burst rotation of ele in mind. If you’re convinced that any classes can deal bigger dps than the ele, please present better results with those classes. Here I’m talking about the current:

AC spider queen solo record, Belka solo record, Marolna duo record. Heck, even Bloomhunger also falls victim. And that already leaves Lupicus out of the picture.

Also, mesmer DPS is a real kitten when your illusions die fast from condi and aoe. 10k DPS drops to merely below 1k DPS in a blink of eyes and it drags until you can put up phantasm again. What do you think the actual DPS of mesmer during the entire Lupi fight? 3-4K DPS marginal at best.

Edit: dagger has two target cleave, i believe. Both well and tainted shackle are amazing aoe kitten nal of necro.

Oh my, fire grab!!! Its only use is almost as a dodge bait or a je-ne-sais-quoi right before leaving fire attunement. Or in my desperate attempt to cleave the rezing people. Just to say how sad this skill is.

I always dodge updraft/ ride the lightning, burning speed and magnetic grasp. At the same time i feel like my opponents hardly dodge my skills at all. Those that do usually live for a long time and profit.

This happened after we killed Turmaine in a CM p2 pug. One pug complained about why not glitching Turmaine for an easy kill and met with the best sarcasm in his life.

First of all you’re talking to a primary PvE player. dboylolz is a very skilled and knowledgeable player so lose the condescending attitude.

No one expects you to know that, but you should hopefully be aware of the fact that what is deemed as the “best cc in the game” is totally different for both PvE and PvP.

What he said is right and by no means condescending. Yes, Engi has the best CC capability in the game with its spammable CD, good landing, either unblockable or devastating damage. Best PvE CC is Deep Freeze but best PvP CC is Slick Shoes (followed by Ring of Warding, imho). And as we already know it, the game is “mostly” balanced around PvP. And in PvP, staff ele is pretty uninteresting and staff play mostly depends on terrain.

An extra blast on water attunement could need a bit of consideration since staff ele bunks pretty well on their own already. On the other hand, that skill does need rework.

P.S. I know Abe is an excellent PvE ele but to be honest, his comment just shows how inexperienced he is in the esportz.

Also corner stack to cleave Kayi and his minions is a valid tactic.

I think the pushing to the wall is for bosses like slaver driver in cof p1. Where people still push him onto the wall for absolutely no reason. Would be better to icebow 5 him.

Well, that tree is a good los spot tho :o

One good example of pushing bosses to the wall is the troll in HotW. But then again, if your group can burn him fast enough or dodge properly, it shouldn’t be a problem.

For LoS stacking, the first boss in HotW p3 and second in p2, Andal with his cute twin quaggans and the mofo with geyser that knocks back also need to corner stack properly.

Don’t make any infusions right now. As HoT rolls out, the new fractal masteries will unlock +6 and more infusions. If you absolutely must make infusion, I suggest going for +5 precision. It is much cheaper than the power one but almost as good, especially when you can swap traits out for more power builds on the fly.

Another D/F play. This time, it’s AC p1. I was able to join the fight at the Spider Room early. Can’t say I’m proud of my D/F rotations. There were a lot of “oh, snap” moments when I just instinctively avoided getting down. As you may see, my PC was acting up a lot. At times, my cursor didn’t appear when placed on the edge of the platform which made me deeply confused for several seconds. Also, my partner was in his auto-pilot mode and went ahead to everything like a jerk. It didn’t help either x( Overall, it was a smooth run. About 5 or 6 minutes slower than in an organized group with portal.

Yeah, staff ele brings icebow, d/f ele “has” to bring signet of Air and guess what? Fresh Air ele has to trait for Fresh Air. Wait? Are we gonna argue about how each profession must use what skills and traits to bring out the most synergies with their build now? Pointless.

Even full signet condi ele is viable. Diamond skin ele is viable. Things that matter is to play uour build with the right role. If you spec for pure damage, you plus one your team fight. If you spec for bruiser, you bunk a point, try a decap or hold out a 1vX until your teammate arrives. Playing with builds should have that in mind.

So here it is: AC p3 duo pug with a friend also playing ele. The build I used was standard 66200 D/F, in berserker armor/trinket with Scholar Runes.

To someone who said elementalists can not live without triple cantrips, I say it’s also equally rare to see mesmers without blink and decoy, warriors without shouts or stance, thieves without shadowstep and signets, or engi without grenades and toolkit, ranger without lightning reflex and all that jazz.

You can play how you want. It is really simple as that. And you seem to have a solid plan right there. Set the right goal and achieve it with your ability. Be caution with joining people who have different mindsets than you. A little respect goes both way and you are golden.

You should visit 1v1 Arena frequently. I’ve learnt a lot from dueling with good to very great players there.

yeah and not to brag I do beat most of players that I duel unless they counter comp me.
Even then I can put up a proper fight while changing my amulet from celestial to soldiers. I need to go higher than average 1v1 arena and also work on team games because I want to contribute in winning the entire team battle rather than 1v1 at home or far node.

What i picked up ftom my master is to go from celestial to zerker amulet. It will heighten your sense of danger and focus on landing the damage. I’m not sure if you have any contacts for 1v1. I usually go bold with contacting the esport streamers who I find really good players to see how they counter my class. Also 1v1 good ele is really helpful as seeing what kinds of shortcomings you have. When I started playing ele, I was so horrible. I lost against my ele master flat under 20 secs. Now I can hold my ground well, everything becomes much slower and I can pay attention more on peeling for teammates. Maybe 2v2 tourney can help you?

The reward drop rate is substantially high when you play in a full guild group. I know that my guild always has at least two skins or two boxes per run. It was so profitable yhat sometimes i would not mind a long kitten 90 min fractal run to get something. To add insult to injury, the worst the run, the better the loot. I see 2-3 tonics dropped to guildmates already and they are the kind of phiw that do all sorts of faux-pas in fractals. So I don’t usually play with the guild on 40+.

The resolution is so high. I’m envious.

The same fractal, last boss. Some idiots think it is wise and magically effective to knock that kitten boss to the gate. When I asked them, “what’s for?”, they told me to calm down, "It’s just a fractal and we didn’t wipe. We in “[xxx]” always do that". Wow, because… your guild tag means reason?!

For those who haven’t known me, I am the self-proclaimed care taker of the Dungeon Mentor Initiative Guild [Noob]. I main elementalist. I have played the class mostly in high end PvE for 4k+ hours and recently tapped into tPvP. I’m not actively a part of any elite dungeon guilds, but I have been a friend and/or convenient fill-in personnel for some notable guild groups such as Snow Crows [SC], Retaliate [rT], Death and Tax [DnT], Legion of Doom [LoD], Intrinsic Quality [iQ], Renegatus [Ren]. If I’m not asked for dungeon tours, I usually duo or trio in pugs with friends, or sometimes help carry the casual groups of my social guild [Zap]. That is to say, I have sizable experience in both pug run, super-organized speed run and everything in between.

I’m currently building up the video database for my teaching and entertainment purpose. If you are interested in seeing the elementalist’s game play in any situations (dungeons or fractals, pug or semi-organized group), I would be more than happy to record and upload my game play for you. Just give me a request and a few days to prepare.

Let me sum up OP’s reactions in this entire thread. At first, you complained that it’s difficult to play a berserk ele in dungeons with meta tactics but without proper (guardian’s) support. We offered you some insight to help you ease into this process. Then you proceed to blame the aggro system which screwed you and it is not as fun to play ele as the other heavy classes. Then some of us suggested to swap in some defensive gears. In the end, you concluded that berserker ele isn’t for you because pug fails badly atbabysitting you. “Everybody just playing wannabes”. Then, why do you still insist on joining those berserker only lfg? Perhaps, your original intention wasn’t coming here to ask for help, but to rant about your super bad pug (while turning away from some legit advices). Well, congrats, it seems that you have some attention there. In the end, it’s your learn to play issue. Good luck.

Zel was wrong. A year ago, Ele wasn’t the DPS king in PvE. It was at the God tier. Now it falls back to the King rank while every others have been and are still peasants.

Where was the might? If it is that long of a fight, you should have had 18 stacks of might by then. Which explains why you didnt finish that thief off.
