I know Goku has soloed Arah p3 on ele in the past, so he’d have a video of it. I’m sure Miku also has a video of it.
Yea, but they remove stats from trait line upon the recent specialization change. That’s why I question if it’s still possible anymore.
Also I didn’t think of the Executioner Axe Toy, just Ride of the Lightning.
Would ride the lightning work? in that it’s a form change, I’d imagine something would bug out there. FGS and start your whirl or rush or something and grab the orb though, maybe?
Both Ride the Lightning and Burning Retreat work fine. I think Rebound could help pull a double Lightning Flash once Tempest hits. You can even Overload water for some extra heal. But for now it sucks to have to stick with full clerics.
I don’t give a kitten about “prestige” and about how other people [I don’t know] perceive me in game based on what I’m currently wearing. I think all the legendaries I have don’t mean kitten, I simply grinded for them because I wanted the skins really badly, and I’m embarassed when people express admiration at the “dedication” I put on them – likewise, I feel ashamed when they shoot me down by saying stuff like “you have too much time on your hands” or “ugggh, eternity, it’s so common, EVERYONE has it!”. I am flattered, though, when people compliment me on my dyes choice, my fitting character theme or any skillful use of cheap armors/weapons.
I want to look cool, but I do it for myself (and my friends’ approval, I suppose). I want to wear cool stuff, stuff I deem cool.
Got a problem with that?
Yeah, but you can denounce world problems like China making imitations of Louis Vuitton bags. Some people will always care about the prestige that they worked hard for and paid tons of money on can be bought cheaply by others.

Was that because you glitch him immobile then his AI broke because he couldn’t identify targets and just go “meh, bleh, I give up”?
Some paths have gimmicks that require multiple players, such as CoEp123, Arah p1/p4, CoFp12, etc. But other than that, most can be soloed with enough practice.
Arah P4 is soloable. An ele can solo Simin with some great RNG (as well as every other part of the path, obviously). Someone has even done it and posted a video awhile back, after the might nerf (iirc) and before the 6/23 trait changes. I don’t see it being viable on any other class besides ele, though, as you need extreme DPS in concert with good RNG in concert with insane mobility (FGS).
On a theoretical basis, CoF P2 is soloable. I’m not sure if it can be done in reality, though. Maybe by some insane Mesmer tricks for the bomb part? The
Out of curiosity, how do you solo the orb on ele? I have never tried and still think that it’s theoretically impossible.
Hey,
I like your editing job but there are a few things need to be fixed. Firstly, the texts are barely readable. They are too small and some coloured texts don’t show up well on screen. Also try not to include speculation (I feel this, I think that, I guess …) in your guides – it sounds very unreliable. If you are not sure about something, do some research and makes sure the information is correct. There are quite a few of flavored texts that are not related to the guides, I think those are best suited for a narrated guide than the caption format.
Have someone stays down and Horrik will aggro on that downed body almost all the time.
I tried the condi build by frifox and honestly, wasn’t impressed with its passive and slow play style. Also, condi mesmer doesn’t have cleave and the ramp up time is significantly higher than other classes. Unless you are solo or don’t mind skipping on the loots, I would say no.
The dress dyes wonderfully. The design reminds me of Oscar De La Renta a couple of years ago (God bless his soul what a talented man). I really look forward to buying them soon

I think you forget the golden fractal skins. Hey, here comes your new grind – if you still want to grind.
Also, under the new system, it’s gonna cost you a week (3 daily a day) to get one weapon. I’m also not sure about rare = prestige as I don’t see many fractal staff/scepter/long bow/hammer around that much. Many would just stop caring after getting what they like. Only those who grind are those who want to complete their collection. So yeah, I sympathize people who actually paid for a chance to get the skins for their collection. Not all of us really grind fractals for skins.
1. Used with Torch.
2. Used without Torch
It seems that map rewards bonus will also apply to dungeons, from a datamined source. The new map reward bonus works similarly to the pvp reward track; every events/ JP/world boss events contribute to 100 points on that track, and you get a bonus crafting material for every 200 points. IF this system applies to the dungeon maps, it would mean that doing bonus event (or even killing trash mobs) will progress your reward track and give you an extra something. Although this is a mere speculation on how the track functions in dungeons, it’s a welcoming addition.
Ranger condi can get some very good burst. This is what I have when experimenting the condi build in fotm 50 (solo with fury and no vuln/might cap).
Since when condi damage crit? lol
Seems like I’m gonna skip on Reaper this weekend. It’s not motivating enough for me to play
Since it’s BWE1, do try Tempest for burning.
Variation for Rabid: http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgABWATYBlQ~
Utilities: Signet of Fire, Feel the Burn, Arcane Brilliance, Glyph of Storm or Shock and Aftershock, FGS.
You need to stack Might and Fury before burst. Use Dust Devil to Blind the enemies so you can tank them inside your fire field. Use Overload (Fire) in your fire field for more burning bolt, then use Drake Breath/ Burning Speed and Feel the Burn when they are off cool down. Use Signet of Fire whenever. Use FGS for more AoE damage.
At this point of the discussion… /shrug. It s—ks to be you!
Well, basically any classes can attempt to solo. But in the necro case, you may need to tug under your belt some crystals, some rocks, feathers, poison pots, pet summoning items, or in a greater effect, some friends to res you… Oh wait, look like it’s not a solo anymore. But whatever…
Chronomancer makes Mai Trin a joke. I had a chance to solo her in fotm level 9 when my group wiped. It’s one of the two most pressure-free solo I’ve ever had – the other being Alphard back when untraited warden was still able to block her lightning orbs.
Solo plus mesmer spells Sanderinoa. Look up his name in youtube, you’ll be delighted.
CM story should be easy enough for mesmers to start with.
My female human war holding a twilight, its as heavy as a couple million of galaxys together. How is she able to swing that kind of heavyness with 100b + frenzy? This is madness
It may explain why 100b has a channeling duration and a cool down.
I tried Tempest with a Condi setup. Overall, I like it. It has some burst potential with Burning in AoE pull, snare and chill. However the upkeep of Burning feels a bit underwhelming. Sometimes I wish Fire 5 (warhorn) applies more than 1 stack of Burning; 2 or 3 is good in my opinion. The shout utilities lacks lustre. It doesn’t give amazing support or DPS buff or condi buff. If left unchanged, it’s better to give the shouts shorter cool down.
The Blast finisher on Earth Overload doesn’t allow me to combo with anything. The fields are not long lasting and it takes time stay in Earth for me to be able to overload. I would prefer to move the Blast finisher into other weapon’s skill.
The mechanics of Rebound is ridiculous. Someone please tell me which skills of elementalist are affected by Rebound? So far, I have found none: no weapon skills or utilities. How am I supposed to use Rebound for myself?
Well, after that I spoke up in guild chat and an officer actually took the responsibility to resolve the issue. It’s one of the things that convince me to stay in the guild; it’s a big one but under solid management.
I was in my bank guild and joined a group of three who are actually from my main guild, but I said nothing. The fifth was a pug. We started Arah p2. They failed the skip to Belka, despite having 2 thieves. Then they failed to chain stealth from Belka to Abom. In all of the skips, I had to rush ahead and improvised. At Lupi, they failed to push him to the wall until they gave up and just fought him in the open. At some points, Lupi was pushed to the wall, but the mesmer failed to one shot him. He then blamed me for dodging out of the wall. They went down a few times at Alphard. Finally, when they failed the skip to Brie, they kicked the other pug thief for ‘being bad’ and kicked me for leaving aggro at their safe spot despite me having run half way ahead and all the mobs already leashed.
Who said guildies are not being kitten?
If you use mesmer for purely DPS, well, it’s gonna be disappointing…
Correct me if I’m wrong, I always thought mesmer’s personal DPS ranking depends hugely on the length of the fight. If it’s short (most of the time if you’re 5-manning), then mesmer’s obviously gonna end up pretty bad due to the phantasm build-up time, but the longer the fight (solos or pug runs), the better will mesmer end up because all those initial skill activation times will get lost in a few minute long fight. Of course you’ll never be able to reach ele-level dps, but I think given the optimal conditions, mesmers could even outDPS rangers or guards (no maths, just my guess).
This is actually why I made this post. I keep seeing people talking about how weak mesmer is, but I remember pre patch numbers said based on phantasm strength and length of battle mesmer dps can be much higher. I don’t see how mesmer dps is lower than necro or ranger.
You said it yourself. It’s entirely depending on how you can keep your phantasms alive. Bosses like Subject Alpha, Old Tom, Svanirgandr will reduce mesmer dps to sword/sword only and it’s not even funny.
Also, you haven’t seen condi ranger’s burst or power ranger’s sustain DPS? They are much much better with the vuln/fury/modifiers upkeep. Also I like to note that if a class has burst, the fight is likely to be shorter – especially in group fights when you can burst with full buffs.

Already bought expansion. Excited to try.
If it was cele amulet, he could have had 3-4k Burning per tick! From what he showed, Tempest doesn’t match the offensive play style. It took too long to 1v1 (against the other S/F fresh air) and it was too vulnerable against other power spike classes.
What is the common ground for comparison?
From my experience, engi DPS is lower than the theoretical number by a bit on a moving target, thief doesn’t have this problem. On a deep frozen target, thief still wins by holding the icebow.
I wish my DPS-meter didn’t break so I could actually screenshot the number.
Necro has better vuln and might upkeep than mesmer and is generally better without reflect damage. Mesmer damage, burst and cleave are terrible when it comes to classic tank and spank.
Tomorrow's PoI: What do you want to know about Pact Commander masteries?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: IrisTheCasual.3742
On behalf of the Dungeon and Fractal Mentor initiative, I would like to ask:
- Does this Mentor Mastery involve the current instanced content? For example, currently we have people volunteer to teach new players to dungeons and fractals. I would appreciate some recognition to these amazing mentors.
- Does the special Mentor Icon show up in the LFG tool? Imagine if we’re gonna hold a teaching tour, it would be nice for our recruiting LFG to be more noticeable.
“Because your dad is OP.”
/seriously in role
I suppose they are instanced, other wise, it’s redundant to mention “five-person bosses”. We’ll see.
Three is fine, as long as the quality is up to Kekai Kotaki’s level – basically the reason I adore GW2 legendary weapons so much.
Full article: http://ca.ign.com/articles/2015/08/06/gamescom-2015-guild-wars-2s-mastery-system-takes-you-from-canopies-to-crafting
Quote:
The Fractal Attunement Mastery grants access to additional dailies, new infusions, and instance-specific buff items or challenge modes, while The Legendary Precursor Crafting Mastery exists to make crafting your very own Legendary Weapon that much easier. On that note, ArenaNet confirmed three new Legendary weapons would be added to Guild Wars 2 when Heart of Thorns launches, with more following as the story develops.
My personal favourite of the old lines, however, is Pact Commander Mastery. This focuses on mentoring new players, and enables you to have a special icon over your head or in chat to indicate you’re happy to help others (haha, that’s cute). Continuing along this path will also unlock the ability to revive allies faster based on how many levels lower than you they are, and even two features all Guild Wars 2 fans have desperately been waiting for – auto-loot and speed boosts in cities.
The Heart of Maguuma Mastery Lines, meanwhile, have been spoken about before. Gliding makes its debut in Heart of Thorns, with possible Masteries including the ability to stealth while flying to avoid foes or accessing ley lines to boost across the map at high speed.
The other three – Itzel, Exalted and Nuhoch Lore – offer various bonuses ranging from the ability to summon challenging five-person bosses with unique loot tables to identifying mushrooms that, when eaten, reset all cooldowns.
Lol, let’s fit your description with my rankings:
Organized Harcore > Casual Elites > Semi-casual / Super Pug > Tryhard Pug > Average Pug > BDSM Pug.
I cant even play decently in a 5 man group in EU, much less in duo and trio. Otherwise I would have taken your offer.
Does anyone notice that Grouch was playing with Marauder Amulet? I don’t think it’s a good idea to go semi-glass with a semi-melee range and 0 projectile defense. Probably why he has to use triple cantrip to boost his sustain up.
It doesn’t make sense to compare his game play to a standard d/d cele although I do agree that Overload damage needs to be buffed to justify its use and various trigger conditions.
@Sandy: I always meant to ask but forgot to; how did you make your wardens stack?
They’re just filthy zerk elitists.
Oh, you need to see how Jerem answered this question
Well, Steal is only possible recently with the patch change. Scorpion Wire and Basilisk Venom are the alternative CC that a thief possesses.
That said, I also agree with not spamming Headshot. 3 HS in a row and the thief will be stuck with auto attack alone. In that case, sword auto is actually more decent than dagger auto.
Edit: Of course, the post I mentioned was magnificently exaggerated. No one plays thief just to spam Headshot. I would bail if a group asks for Meta but doesn’t have enough DPS to back it up. Surely not after the patch.
(edited by IrisTheCasual.3742)
Double Freeze is not needed in dungeons ever the only place where its “needed” is at Mossman and uncategorized champions and even there its just a matter of Steal+Scorpwire+Basilisk Venom together with what the team has.
You know that Basilisk breaks Icebowstun?
I think his opinion means using Basilisk asDeep Freeze wears off. Perry is not amateur.

I disagree. It’s depending on the group strength. If the group comprises mostly of a pug with people who seldom play together, trust me even the Risen Abomination will need a double freeze. I’ve been in a situation where everybody frantically looked for the Tranquilizer gun when the boss got frenzied because we pulled him into a weird spot and didn’t pull the Inquests together. Stuffs happen.
Most HotW bosses also need multiple freeze in a tour as well.
@Sandy: I always meant to ask but forgot to; how did you make your wardens stack?
I remember sometimes ago there was a veteran runner in this forum (whose name I can’t quite remember) complaining about how stupid it is that every thieves in his runs spam Head Shot to get that second, third or even fourth deep freeze instead of doing DPS. In his opinion, everyone should always does DPS instead of trying to apply Deep Freeze as it’s a DPS loss and a lazy (?!) way to kill a boss. (It was quite a scene, I admit. Even I got called out for playing as a bad headshot spammer in a tour.)
In that light, shouldn’t we just DPS when the boss is frozen then using CC when the icebow is pinged? Probably a few stacks are already peeled.
I consider you’re still quite lucky then
@Nat: The RNG of which you get Mossie instead of Bloomie is more of a pain, I think. At least you know you have to reroll right away after seeing the wisps.
(edited by IrisTheCasual.3742)
That is the best wisp combination for solo :s
Will look good with mini golden pig and chinese costume <3
Nice solo. Props for sticking with it despite the terrible RNG you’ve probably experienced.
I’ve been casually attempting a Swamp (Bloom) and a Swamp (Mossman) solo record on Mesmer for a short while now. That Swamp RNG… It was really disheartening to end most attempts after rolling swamp and seeing how the wisps were rolled.
Which RNG are you talking about?
