However I’ve just taken up a 2x Monk, 2x Water, 2x Lyssa mix which I’m still in the process of trialing. This gives me an additional 10% condition duration, and total 50% boon duration.
By total you mean including your traits I guess, so it’s 30% from the runes and 20% traited? I’d go that route too if it wasn’t all about healing power, the most useless attribute in existence -.-
Rune of Lyssa is cool if you’re often zerg/grouprunning with Mass Invisibility for the short cooldown and Signet of Inspiration for the active effect copying all the boons to allies. A fully buffed invisible group can cause severe mayhem and we’re not really good at group buffing otherwise, most people will have the focus equipped so no blast finisher.
I wish the Superior Rune of Sanctuary wasn’t bugged, because that one would be really cool (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Rune_of_Sanctuary) if it worked correctly. Did somebody check if it’s still bugged lately?

The auto-attack leaves something to be desired. In my build (I run scepter/pistol and staff), I have the auto-attack function turned off completely because I don’t want the scepter clones overwriting my staff clones.
Me too, if it would actually apply confusion it would probably be fine, even if it’s just one stack. What has been previously said is also true, I also didn’t like the idea of melee combat and I like the increased clone generation rate.

Roll a thief, stomp from stealth. Troll level > 9000.
Imo Deception shouldn’t work random but like phase retreat, I’d happily switch with the elementalist’s Vapor Form.

Also the broken scaling was never fixed which makes everything ugly if you set the UI to anything else than normal size.
I’d like to be able to “lock” my bank then as a safety measure. E.g. if you put buy orders on the TP and it lags and you click again, you’ll end up without gold but with as many buy orders as clicks you did. While this makes large orders easier, I’m somwhow afraid it could backfire someday.
Yep, the whole story is worth a read, what happened there was insane and somehow reflects what happens in real life sadly. And it actually didn’t happen only once, the first scandal at Dynasty was followed by a second, even larger one at EBank which was supposed to be its trustworthy successor:

All I can say is, I am certainly not a gold seller.
I have never ever cheated anyone in an online game and I am not saying this because I am soliciting for business to broker trades. I would continue to caution everyone to not trust any random stranger. Using the TP is the still the safest route.
I’d say that too. And then I’m gonna rip you off so hard, you’re gonna quit playing and never want to start playing anything again.

I guess he just places such an order and can then see the items in the transactions list without having to search for it first. It’s slightly annoying that the TP “forgets where you were” everytime you change tabs btw.
/e: what he said.
well the fee of 5% is enough with the WP travel, the repairing costs and the Gem purchasing.
I tend to believe John, who’s actually an economist and has all the internal numbers in front of him, when he says it works out this way instead of <random internet guy>, sorry.
See https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/New-Krait-Damoss-Explode-very-overpowered/first#post1590257, that’s what I expected them to change, those instagib events were ridiculous. What we have now is even more ridiculous though.
/e: my other post was deleted because it was all caps, so I’ll try again:

So much fun.

They have quite a high aggro range and can chain-immobilize you. Even if there’s no champion among them (then it gets dirty), you’re doomed if you’re unlucky and just run by. And this is not a level 80 zone, I’m in full exo with 20k health (when not downscaled) and tons of toughness, still they hit pretty hard.
It makes no sense to limit something that isn’t the problem in the first place. Guesting is NOT the problem here. If your server would create an overflow of it own regardless of people guesting or not than restricting guesting is going to do crap to solve the problem.
I won’t jump to conclusions and say guesting is the cause or it isn’t, because we just don’t know. The ones who say this can’t proof it, and neither can you provide any evidence that the opposite is true.
The only one who knows this because they work with hard numbers is ANet, so just solve this problem. Thanks.
Playing the TP already is very efficient, it’s mostly limited by supply, i.e. the maximum possible throughput of your transactions. It’s easy to generate 30-50% net gain with a bit of gold, the tricky part is doing that with hundreds or thousands of gold. Fortunately, most people don’t understand how the TP works or just don’t care because they don’t want to wait a week for a transaction to complete. And fortunately the economy is very stable – just watch out and end all transactions before a patch hits live if you’re not sure what’s gonna happen.

Aaand overflow again, no really not solved…
They can’t create a lot of complex content (like a huge jumping puzzle) for the small minority actually willing to “work” for a legendary. Especially now where the game is still young and there’s a lot more important things to do.
if that idea is still coming, achievement points will to some degree reward laurels
I guess you misread that, because he clearly did not say it.
Sound beeping, then game crash in mass WvW situations.

Probably because that caused the sound quality to be reset from highest to medium which is the default.
That wouldn’t fit in many situations either. The current swiftness system is fine, it just has to be reliable for everybody.
Fixed for me, no more overflow at all on Drakkar Lake.
hehehe…most likely everyone else guested elsewhere then…
Lucky you. :=)
Funny thing, I just went to overflow at Jormag. 11:00 is a very, very unusual time for that to happen considering not many people play then in Germany.

I think Compounding Celerity just needs to be reworked into something more appealing.
How about reworking it so that swiftness is granted upon shatter? Mesmers that want to utilise this trait out of combat could also, and probably already do, trait for Illusionary Persona. Therefore, you can just use your shatter skills to proc maybe a 25% increase in movement speed for 3 seconds per shatter skill use (not per illusion shattered).
I’m not sure if having it proc on shatter in a fight would be a little OP bearing in mind the Mesmers already decent in-battle mobility, but it would make travelling in WvW less painful.
There are no illusions to shatter when you are out of combat or even when your target for that illusion dies. This shatter idea does not work because of that.
Read again, he was also talking about Illusionary Persona.
I’m genuinely fine with four classes being faster out of combat than the others. If it’s a big issue for a lot of people, make the OOC +50% speed nonstacking. So OOC we’re all at the default +50% speed, that’s it.
Then I’d really quit the game. Non swiftness runspeed is annoying as hell unless you constantly use waypoints (which aren’t available in WvW).
Just checked Shatterer and Tequatl shortly before the events started, no queue for me.
I view this issue as a Memser weakness that is actually needed. The prof is good at so many other things.
Since we’re talking about of of combat speed (at least I do), it’s more of an annoyance that not all classes have the same capabilities, e.g. in long distance roaming in WvW.

Fine for me, I wouldn’t even have to reskill as I’m currently using Warden’s Feedback in the same inspiration tier for better focus use.
Its a bad thing and yes i feel like iam beeing forced doing things i dont like if i want any progress….
You might say you dont need ascedent. Ok let me break this for you you play game because its fun, for me fun is getting all the best items in game if i cant get them theres no point for me to play. I like grinding gear i have no problem with it, but it seems like anet does so they are literally slowing down players who have time to play and thats just wrong. We should have options to buy lauers for gold, or give us option buy ascedent gear for gold….
Wow, so somebody finally admits that this is how some people think. I’m kind of sorry for you, really. The best items in the game are supposed to take time, not heavy grind. And yes, I think it shouldn’t be possible to just buy a legendary. Everybody should have to do world completion and the other prerequisites. And I also think they shouldn’t have added the fractals RNG grind, but I guess that’s what people like you asked for.
Perma (or semi-perma) switfness on mesmer is easily obtainable with a centaur runes and a heal skill or a boon duration runeset in conjunction with sigil of speed or focus (and yes, this is without any utilities).
Yeah, know what the problem is? Focus or centaur runes. It’s easier to switch a utility. I’d be perfectly fine with signet of inspiration if it would work more reliable. The active effect is quite aswesome in group play when combined with runes of lyssa.
Hardest: pistol/dagger thieves (good ones), phantasm mesmers
Easiest: Everything else, I dont know why you people are having trouble with eles
Same here.
The difference still is if we’re talking about goods fulfilling basic needs or luxury goods. In the last month, the total currency required to bring all professions to 400 dropped from 65g to 55g for example.
because disconnecting mid-event means a guest stole your spot.
LOL nice logic.
With the current situation, at least this isn’t less likely than a player from the same server taking it.
What about if guests want to guests fine, but what if they dont get META Event Chest, Why .. because they are not there home. This would be the best way to actually stop the guesting to server Abuse that every1 lives. No Loot, Not a farm, rather stay home. But if they want to help some1 fine wasn’t it the goal ?
I think so too. Nobody can tell me playing with your friends equals attending those open world events.
Although I tried everytime, I was only able to participate in a single world event on my homeserver today, the rest of the time I’ve been on overflows or lagging out.
I don’t really care what the problem is, I just want to be able to participate in events on my own server I participated in before the last patch was rolled out without any problems. Now I’m constantly placed on overflow and this is getting increasingly annoying. If this was a quick and dirty fix to the lag problem or guesting, doesn’t matter to me. Just fix it.
I just saw some activities in the log that probably wouldn’t have completed by just playing. So I clicked on the list of dailies, selected some that better match my playstyle and now I’m almost done although I’ve mainly been waiting in overflow so far. Really not a big deal.
Yeah, they can put such events in a corner where nobody runs into them accidentially, but not in such a highly frequented area. I can easily avoid the event/damage when I know what’s up, but that’s a level 67 area with a lot of people passing by. Maybe you see a red ring before you’re dead, or you’re just dead. Even the veterans hit like a truck.
the problem is that they cannot find a better solution to hook a majority of the players than to put a gear treadmill.
Yep, they’ve given people what they asked for. They didn’t do it in a way that ruins the game for everybody else though. It was a high-wire act, but they did it quite well. It keeps the game alive, there will always be somebody who doesn’t like what they do.
Warriors are a faceroll class, there’s not much of a learning curve to it and it’s not really versatile. I understand they’re complaining.
Enemies hit harder though. Without signet of illusions, they’re still pretty much one hit victims. I guess clones have about ~3000 health and no armor(?)
I’m in the same boat as the OP, actually came here to post this topic. However I’m probably much worse off, because this is my first ever character. She’s level 13 atm, and after chain dying on some stupid island in the Sylvari starting zone (COVERED in respawning evil mer-men… oh God how I hate them) I took a little break last night. Maybe I should have picked another class but the mesmer style really appealed to me.
I started with a mesmer too and I really regret it after I saw what e.g. a warrior could do to mobs in a starting area (actually, in open world PvE I sometimes still envy their efficiency). But I didn’t want to play a warrior again because that’s what I always did. And I’m glad I went through with that decision.
Since the dailies have been changed, I never had to do something just for the sake of completing a daily. It always happened within an hour of normal gameplay.
I think in many situations you actually don’t realize your target’s obstructed because the camera hovers above you.
The bottom line is; a mesmer can be and is one of the strongest classes in WvW.
In one part of WvW at least, which makes it one of the best balanced classes in that game mode since you can go roaming solo, defend a position, support your team or melt faces in zergs depening on your spec, but not all at the same time. Still you’re not at a complete loss in any other situation. And I love that.
/e: lol, can’t write in_a_zerg…
The game needed people to get out of LA and FoTM and the only way to do that was to make Ascended items available elsewhere, sure.
I don’t think that the new dailies were the best way to go about it.
A better way would have been to ad crafting recipes/ karma/dungeon rewards etc.
Then people would just have taken the “grind in some well known efficient places and dungeons” route again. You can’t grind laurels, which is a great concept. I love dailies and monthlies, the way things currently work is one of the best ideas ANet ever had. It actually takes time to achieve that stuff, I just cannot be grinded in a short time just by putting more effort in it. It makes people actually play the game again.
What I expected them to do was to increase the health of trash mobs so they don’t die instantly, which made tagging them for loot cumbersome. And maybe add in a few veterans/champions from time to time that have more health and some additional abilities of course, but not this oneshot crap. I was just running by that event, the zerg was a bit behind me and a new champion spawned just left of the entrance. Guess what happened, I almost instantly went to downed state. In full exotic rabid equip, so I even have a lot of toughness and some vitality on top. And culling definitely doesn’t help, as well as the fact that enemies start aggroing and attacking instantly before they’re even visible.
Ascended gear is a ripoff, give me some real stat progression I’m not grinding for like 7 points on the top stat and 3 on the two lower ones. The only thing laurels are useful for are stacks of unident dyes atm.
So no, I don’t have that problem. OP it sounds like you’re treating GW2 as a job and I"d recommend playing a different game, at least for a while.
I agree, except for the real stat progression part of course.
I’m currently using
http://en.gw2codex.com/build/24353-condition-build-focus
instead of
http://en.gw2codex.com/build/24354-condition-build-staff
in WvW for several reasons:
- staff cooldowns are already long, the reduction doesn’t really matter for me; I can still benefit from another ethereal field and phase retreat for chaos armor and use chaos armor/storm as a last resort.
- I’m running a lot in WvW naturally, so the cooldown reduction on focus comes in handy (-5s cd vs +2s dur), as well as the additional projectile reflection.
- glamour skill reduction is cool in a glamour build of course.
- I’m on rabid gear (prec/cond/tough) so I already have a lot of toughness, the additional 200 vitality are very welcome.
- retaliation on phantasms is cool, as a lot of my clones come from deceptive evasion and spawn close to me my phantasms are more likely being hit and since I’m shattering a lot, clones rarely die in a way that would make Debilitating Dissipation effective (it says Descent into Madness in the build, I used that for a while until I knew where to run in WvW).
The only thing I really don’t like is the loss of 20% boon duration, but there has to be some tradeoff I guess :\ Unfortunately all +boon duration runes are crap (for me) and my runes of lyssa are just too awesome (and too expensive =)).
PS: I like the Hounds of Balthazar for solo roaming as they’re a leap finisher too which works pretty well with ethereal fields of course And signet of illusions as it still seems to be bugged…

Sorry, no fun for you. You step through that portal, and you’ll see.
There awaits, buried deep beneath ashes of solo gank, only portalbot duty, 24/7 mesmer taxi for any lazy hurr-hurr-me-worrier-me-melee-train out there with no med insurance and I’m not even talking about money.
I don’t have that problem, how about no? What’s your zerg supposed to do in WvW, kick you for not lying down a portal? I sometimes do that because I think it’s a good idea, but I don’t have the portal equipped by default, and if I’m in combat, ask somebody else. Just like people can’t tell me to sit back and scout or whatever. It’s your choice.
Keep the Blind, but remove the aoe fire blast on the Prestige.
It’s a torch, it burns. And more unique conditions are better in case of a cleanse that removes one stack and it also works fine in conjunction with Phantasmal Warlock. So by all means, no.
Almost all the bugs, and many of them have been there since release, are ultra annoying to the person that is affected by them.
The spell used to teleport you away from the mob.
Not since beta2 at least. It was always random.
I too believe it changed (maybe was fixed) at some point. It always (literally) used to port me back like phase retreat. And it made sense so you could reliably get away from AoE.
/e: it’s also annoying that this does only work with an enemy targeted. If a thief is stomping you from stealth (broken mechanic anyway) and there’s no other enemy nearby, bad luck.
(edited by Iruwen.3164)
I’d get a cheap focus anyway just to reduce the time you’re runnin around, that gets really annoying after a while since we don’t have reliable swiftness. And for leveling in PvE, I’d stick with toughness and ignore vitality. Our health pool already isn’t the smallest, armor’s damage mitigation is pretty effective and you won’t encounter a lot of condition damage anyway. Also don’t put too much into toughness though, power is by far the most important attribute. Enemies usually won’t hit you anyway so just focus on killing them quickly, at least open world PvE is really easy and the story missions also shouldn’t be a problem.
