This again shows that nobody at ANet is playing a mesmer during their testing.
I also didn’t have any issues, except it takes significantly longer than usual (i.e. with other classes). Which is kind of an issue.
Go figure what happens when you’re a mesmer...
Pretty sure the OP is trolling…
Or handicapped…

GW2 has slowly become the opposite of that.
It was somehow ok for me until they reduced the time available to complete some achievements, namely the sky pirates ones, to ridiculously low periods. There’s no way I could have reconciled this with my real life. Their strategy is obvious, the less time there is for completing content and grinding, the more people will buy items at the gemstore. Combined with other strategic decisions like ascended gear, bad balancing, low quality content (stupid grind AND time gating) and development (way too many bugs), GW2 has become exactly the opposite of what was advertised in the beginning and a major annoyance, meaning I spend more time complaining about it than actually playing. So the living story was just the final nail in the coffin that made me (and my gf, since she doesn’t want to play alone) stop playing.
Plus that probably was my last MMO, GW2 somehow managed to ruin the whole genre for me. I’ve never been so disappointed in a game and a company. I’m pretty sure one day I’ll look back, just like with WoW, and think "thank god I stopped playing before it got really bad". I’m not sorry about the few hundred hours of playtime, most of it has actually been fun. Maybe a bit sorry about the money I spent on gems, supporting this strategy while it seemed to make sense. I just feel sorry for the people at ANet that actually had a vision of a game that many of us expected to become reality, i.e. a game for "busy adults". Don’t know what happened, probably pressure from NCSoft. Farewell, I’m out.
/e: lol. Not even the uninstaller works properly.

As Colin mentions in "this":https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/What-happened-with-phase-2-of-dungeons/2276921 post and "this":https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/lwd/Future-of-living-story-and-Events/2267511 post, based upon community feedback, we are adjusting our strategy to include a larger mix of permanent updates in the future.
Simple question: am I still / will I be able to complete these achievements, and where’s the rest of them, why have they been removed from the panel, there was a lot more?
ANet can go... away with their heavily time limited content.
Seriously? I disagree. WvW is PvP...it has nothing to do with PvE and it shouldn’t. There aren’t NPC players going around taking keeps
O rly? ANet disagrees. As he said, WvW is a large scale epic battle with both PvE and PvP elements, so it’s neither PvE nor PvP. And thus it uses upscaling, equipment, nourishment and balancing (mostly) from PvE and so on.
PS: have you ever heard of commanders Siegerazer and Siegecrusher?

I didn’t have much time to login during the last two weeks, if the Sky Pirates don’t make a return in a year or so I’ll never be able to complete the achievements. I only completed the JP which stays in the game anyway. This is extremely disappointing and frustrating. GW2 was advertised as a game where you can always return without having missed anything. Now it seems that you cannot even complete achievements which should be easy to complete after the actual event has ended, like this one.
I’m content with time limited content if it’s reasonable in some way, i.e. the grace period for wintersday or dragon bash has been long enough. The time available for completing the sky pirates achievements has been way too short though. Being a completionist to a degree (I can live with not being able to complete the HoM achievements), this is so frustrating for me that I’ll probably stop playing GW2 altogether.
What I feared most about time limited living story content has become reality, I’m forced to login and play, even if I don’t have time to do so. That’s a gamebreaking annoyance for me. Thanks for ruining it, ANet. Bye.
Opening trick-or-treat bags doesn’t make it progress. If this is time gated, i.e. it only works during the actual event, this should be stated clearly in the UI.
I don’t see the need for a PTR because the problem isn’t that they don’t know about bugs, the problem is that they don’t fix them. And the usual bugs with non-working achievements and so on that are introduced with every release could be easily remedied by proper internal beta testing as well. The fact that simple things like achievements or POIs don’t work means there’s no testing for these things at all. You would simply have to run by only once to test that. Their QA is screwed up, a PTR doesn’t help with that. We already ranted about that in length here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/The-forum-bug-process/first
I will probably be banned if I say what I want to say, so I’ll just not say anything and level my warrior.
I really want to see the WvW portals in LA without culling right before a reset
To sum it up: portals don’t harm anyone, but they help a lot of people.
7. Portal has a ridiculous 90 second cooldown (72 when traited) that makes is very unwieldly for personal use. This cooldown starts after the portals fade too. This makes sense in WvW and PVP but in PVE, there’s nothing to do but twiddle your thumbs and wait. This too causes many problems as the urge for a person to lose all common sense skyrockets during these 90 seconds.
This and the 20 player cap are among the most unthoughtful "fixes" to an obvious problem, thus being one of the prime examples for ANets lazyness when it comes to fixing things, right next to the confusion nerf. Instead of fixing mechanics, they tweak one or two numbers, breaking more related things without actually addressing the underlying issues in the process. One of the reasons I completely lost faith in anything they call "balancing".
That’s really only one problem then, because it also doesn’t give any results for "Guardian" which is also in the first post and indeed capitalized.
That’s what happens when you try to do balancing without considering rock-paper-scissors principles. If every class has to be able to counter and compete with every class, you’ll end up without any diversity.
They can keep the weapon’s speed, "projectile" speed has to be increased though.
You put a limit on the aoe damage. The spell only does a certain amount of damage and gets divided by the number of players that get hit. Just one option that can be implemented for some spells.
Just so you know, this idea is mathematically the same as the aoe target cap of 5.
Just the maximum amount of damage is the same, it’s a whole different story though. There has to be cap to keep the balancing between direct damage and AE damage abilities intact. Like this:
http://www.wowwiki.com/Area_damage_caps#3.3_Mechanics
GW2 actually didn’t feel that social outside of WvW for quite a while. People porting people here and there, from the grund to the chest and from the chest to the goggles, also giving additional advice on how to jump without asking for anything, at least on our server. Some people spend half the evening there. I guess their income from donations isn’t that bad. Especially for the goggles, there isn’t even a separate achievement and you can die easily on your way up as well as down so the service is very welcome.
At least he stays true to himself, considering this statement:
Disclaimer: I am not only cryptic with my knowledge but very protective of it. Call me what you want it is just my nature I don’t like spelling things out.
He just didn’t realize yet that many people probably consider that very annoying.
They said they assigned additional people to the balancing team, so they can screw up even quicker now. Yay!
Darn you, I’m so freaking hungry right now and you start talking about bacon...
“OMG this jump puzzle is hard, where is a portal” and “ooh a portal, I can just skip the entire thing and get the reward anyways” is bad from a game design standpoint. It allows players to completely bypass the obstacles and mechanics, devaluing the content. This offers less satisfaction for completing the content, both for those who use the portal and those who completed it without portals.
Crap. I don’t feel less satisfied when I complete a jumping puzzle while others bypass it, because having completed the puzzle is the reward that makes me feel good, not some achievement or chest at the top. If they don’t want to do the jumps, I don’t force them to. If they ask me kindly, I’ll offer them the service of porting them up, and everybody’s happy. Except you, because others don’t do what you’d like them to do. And that’s unsocial.
Yep, just noticed this issue. Seems the search only searches thread content, not thread titles.
Not even that.
Give it a few days.
Cool, thanks. [15chars]
Yes to all, were fine in pve leveling
It’s not that we aren’t fine, it’s just that warriors are ridiculously overpowered from the start so it looks like we’re broken.
Size doesnt matter sincethe hit box of every race is the same.
This is the valid answer to the original question.
The bug isn’t related to the dungeon, all transforms are currently preventing skill switching. We’re currently investigating the issue.
So it’s indeed unintended? Sounded like it was intentional here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Ascalonian-Catacombs-utility-STILL-bugged/first#post2287079
events.json is always on slow retrieve because of its size eh?
It angers me because a legit alternative to making money instead of CoF farming doing something I like (JP’s) was nerfed because of this skill.
I call bs on this one, a vendor price of 60s was clearly a bug, just like the patch notes state.
Wow, every post argueing in favor of portals in this thread is being posted by mesmers. Those mesmers are immediately and vociferously attacking anyone who posts in support of my OP. I think this is very telling. I think that you know that portals are breaking the game and trivializing content. I think you know that you are wrong. I think that is why you are so aggressive. I think you just want to have your liscence to steal at any cost.
Maybe that’s because your posts are disturbingly short-sighted and plain stupid to begin with. You may want to make use of your licence to think before you post.
Not that anybody actually uses it, but it seems they forgot to change its health to the current PvE values, can somebody confirm this?
Good job. Just made the event lots more fun.
Now instead of standing on the mound pressing 1 its standing at the cannons waiting for the few poor saps actually doing it to get it to 25% then run in and tag it.
Actually doing it right now. Nearly there, one more stun before I stop browsing and run in and tag it.
There should be some sound that tells you to run in when it’s almost done so you don’t have to check the state yourself while browsing.
I don’t see the good thing yet, you already had that option before the nerf.
I think there are very few pvers out there any more.
I think most people are PvE players, but most of them don’t care much about traits. They just play the game.
I think most of this changes are made because of pvp noobs crying on how OP mesmer is and I really start to hate pvp players now.
Count me in. But I also hate ANet for listening to them and not completely splitting PvE and PvP which wouldn’t be a problem at all since the game modes are already separated in many ways anyway.
(edited by Iruwen.3164)
I’m waiting until a timer tells me he has landed and then wait for another 20 minutes before I actually go there currently. I’m normally happily doing pres and everything from start to end, but this is just too much, especially since the fight is pretty repetitive. There are better ways to waste your time, I can do several other events with the same rewards in the time it takes to kill him.
I nvr checked if true, but according to the tooltips Illusionary Celerity nvr stacked with each weapon’s traited recharge reduction for Illusions
It stacked, except for a few ones. The tooltips were incorrect though.
Regardless of the OP’s intentions, ALL of mesmer’s traits and the stats granted by its trait lines need to be reworked. Torch trait in power? Scepter trait in healing? Phantasm traits in shatters? None of it makes sense. Every other profession’s traits are logical. Mesmer needs to be reworked. From the ground up.
While I agree, I’m afraid what may be the result of this rework when it’s done by the same guys who screwed this one up.
Trolololololo[15chars]lo
The answer to that question is obvious. The point being made is that in a mob, you likely get at least one interrupt either from Chaos Storm, Focus Pull or GS #5, making this trait more than worth it, especially now that’s it available in the master tree. My main use for it is in a support build.
Eh, I was thinking of NPC mobs.
Bear in mind that just hitting GS #5 or getting a group daze proc from Chaos Storm doesn’t count as an “interrupt” unless you actually, well, interrupt someone’s skill cast.
Yes but on mobs it can happen often.
Which mob activates skills quicker than a player does?
"Shatter is not nerfed right now but just thinking about it possibly happening, even if it never does, just robs all the fun out of the game."
Did I get that right?
Take a break from the forums and play the game and experiment with the new possibilities. You may actually have, Dwayna forbid, fun.
If they already know that they’ll nerf this build, they should just have done it with this big balancing patch. If they do it later, people having played it for a long time will be even more disappointed as the ANet nerf bat usually hits very hard. So I totally understand why the game is less fun when your perspective is so bad. Riding the rollercoaster isn’t that much fun when you know that at the end you’ll be punched in the face with a pole.
Bounces can still go to non-aggroed creatures if they’re within the bounce range as they seem to be considered hostile creatures
Unfortunately, that includes critters. Since I doubt that this is intended behaviour when I’m also in range, I filed a bug for that:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Mirror-Blade-still-bounces-off-Critters/first#post2283435
I’ll probably regret this when they again break more stuff than they fix, but if they try to fix it anyway, they should at least do it properly.
Check this out: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Prismatic-Understanding-incredible/first
Enjoy it while it lasts, I already hear the QQers rolling in.
You guys seem to forget ANet’s wonderful history of “balance” – in GW1 when a build got OP or abused, they nerfed the skill that was the basis of the whole thing into unusable kitten. It wasn’t enough to fix it, they broke it beyond even usability. When they were done, there were about 4 builds that were effective enough to be consistently used in most classes, with the others marginalized by mediocrity and certain situational usefulness.
And that was the old, good ANet team. Then all the competent people left. Now imagine what this new team can(’t) do! Yay!
I just bound it to the movement keys (forward, backward, left, right, jump), that should always work. But the range should be at least that of the highest range offensive skill (not portal…) in the game, not 900 units.
Wait, you can do that? I would’ve thought it would give you the “override” warning and unbind the movement functionality when you assign the autoloot one (as I experienced when I tried to bind it to the F key).
…using a programmable keyboard
