i guess the option to have AoE loot is better than not having it. but i’m still spamming f all the time in WvW. it’s like im still pre-patch.
i hope this gets changed, why not allow the regular loot on f key to be overwritten by AoE loot if we have the option ticked? all the regular actions > loot. but Aoe loot > loot on pressing f. that’s what should be happening

I just bound it to the movement keys (forward, backward, left, right, jump), that should always work. But the range should be at least that of the highest range offensive skill (not portal...) in the game, not 900 units.

This was supposed to be fixed with the April 30 update:

Summoned creatures and pets can no longer draw aggro from enemies that have not already aggroed on their master.

Unless ANet just hates mesmers, it still isn’t fixed for clones created by deceptive evasion (clone created on dodge), they always attack the nearest target even if it’s a critter or yellow mob.

If you dodge the moment your target dies, the clone generated will also aggro and attack mobs that are far way. When it attacks a critter, it instantly dies because the critter instantly dies. When you shatter, the clone runs to its target instead of the player’s target.
Could this finally be fixed or do we have to wait for another six months just like with iZerker?

If that’s the location of the new JP, it’ll be available from July 2nd. Anyway, it’s stupid they did this again after we had an inaccessible POI in the last patch. That’s horribly bad design if it was intended that way, people stand around there and try to get in.

For PvE, as long as the clones stay alive longer then IC isn’t needed.

+28% base HP increased by 50% isn’t anywhere close to the pre-patch value increased by 200%.

clones already die extreemly fast in wvw. now they will pop and die at the same time. ANET separate the kitten spv from wvw already!!!!!!!it absolutely makes no sense what soever to balance them the same way.

Two things reduce the fun that Dragon Ball could possibly be to almost zero: people going afk and uneven teams. Both could easily be remedied by auto team balancing and kicking afkers after one round, I guess both mechanics already exist. Why ANet hasn’t done this for PvP minigames is totally beyond me, I guess they don’t want people to actually play the game.
Worst two things: first getting the 20 rounds done doesn’t even count towards the Dragon Bash meta achievement, so these guys annoy everybody for absolutely no reason. I’m just reporting every afker for botting.
Second, I actually like to play Dragon Ball, but I’ll stop doing it after having won another three rounds when I’ve done the achievement because it’s no fun with these major flaws. Chapeau for screwing up another one ANet.

Honestly Iruwen it doesn’t matter where I am my GPU gets way too hot, fans spin at insane speeds and GPU % is way too high I can run games 10X more intense than this and not hit 99% GPU. But the proof is in the updates, 9 months ago I never had FPS issues.

Someone brought this up-
"If GW2 is passing off non-serial functions to the GPU, that would explain the increase, as it would be removing some of the CPU’s current overburden Again, I’ll have to verify this (if possible) through extensive virtual machine testing. "

So they basically probably tried to take the burden off the CPU and make the GPU do some of the work/all the work. Well this can cause the exact issues we are having. My CPU is only at 8-11% usage TOTAL while game is running? Why offload so much CPU work when my CPU isn’t even being used. Also a CPU can handle higher load consistently alot better then a GPU can.

Sorry but that’s plain bs and if your card is showing such behaviour when it’s loaded it’s simply broken.

I’d wish I could have Torment instead of Confusion on the traits that affect confusion, because that would be more useful in PvE in many situations. Applying the same amounts of both conditions would probably be op, maybe make a split for PvE here or something.

If these patchnotes were real, I’d actually be impressed that ANet doesn’t just listen to whiners like TheMightyAltroll but indeed makes some sophisticated changes. Our traits are already pretty ok tbh, so I don’t expect a lot of changes for mesmers, they’d change the worst ones as expected. They said they’re also looking into the bounce mechanic, if they also fix clone targeting and keep looking into iZerker I’d actually be pretty content

That trait is useless, at least in PvE. Even with 30% it won’t be a big deal. We have already pretty good mobility in combat. We need ooc speed.

I don’t think it’s useless in WvW, but apart from that yeah, ooc speed would have been more important.

Considering all 8 classes using centaur sets and for example running from point A to point B, trying to reach as soon as they can, I would say they would pretty much have same mobility and speed, with eles, thieves and mesmers actually being a tad more mobile and faster.

I guess you missed my point. All classes can use centaur runes. Except mesmers, they have to use centaur runes.

LA is probably one the worst examples in this case since it’s actually one of the few places in the game that really stresses the GPU, probably because of the amount of detail all around the city and the reflections that appear in the water flowing through it. Also people are hardly doing anything, most aren’t visible anyway because of culling and those who are just stand around. And even if the FPS are low in a city, it doesn’t really matter.
FPS are always low where it matters, i.e. at all crowded events where you actually have to react and use skills, and that’s always because of high CPU usage, you can see that GPU usage drops to really low levels then (<30% for my GTX 670@1280MHz). And unfortunately, there’s nothing you can really do about that CPU usage, except more overclocking.

Are you serious. Rofl. Okay let’s see. If mesmer’s get movement speed signet they instantly go to #1 on all tpvp tier lists because movement speed is the only thing keeping the OP phantasm build from being effective in tpvp.

Then phantasm builds have to be fixed instead of denying access to swiftness for all builds and game modes.

Next. Mesmer will be even more whined about in WvW roaming if this happens. I don’t even need to explain. Thanks! I want my Mesmer less whined about not more. I’m sure you want that.

Lastly Mesmer’s have the best incombat mobility, with the ability to consistently kite and stay out of harms way over all other classes while still dishing out very good damage. Giving them a signet is completely unnecessary. Should warriors get a blink then too?

I’m sorry but Mesmer’s already are the best all around class imo and have the best weapon set build diversity of any class. They don’t need a movement signet. It will only make people hate on Mesmers more and induce nerfs in other areas.

Ooc speed doesn’t affect combat balancing, so that argument is invalid.

People tend to think about PvP only, forgetting that only a small minority is playing PvP at all. If it’s likely to be a balancing problem, make separate changes for PvP and PvE, they’re completely separate modes anyway. Most people would never touch a focus in PvE if they didn’t have to because of the lack of swiftness.

So… Mesmer’s use the extra utility slot for combat advantages and the rune slots for movement. But.. But! other classes have to use the utility slot for movement giving up combat advantages. Out logic’d?

So… other classes can decide to either use runes or a utility slot. Mesmer can’t. Better luck next time with your “logic”.
Plus it’s a matter of seconds to switch utilities, while changing runes or armor is extremely tedious.

Funny thing is, they wanted to give us more reliable swiftness. What they gave us is 1 out of 8 random boons every ten seconds. Totally reliable of course. I usually get zero swiftness when I need it and at other times four times in a row when I’m not moving at all. Also totally useful to permanently receive combat boons when ooc. They should change the signet so it only applies Aegis and Swiftness when out of combat, that would make it at least 50% swiftness uptime so you can still decide to make it 100% with the focus.

Still ANet has a very poor history of fixing things or doing them right to begin with. Bugs also differ in importance and probability of slipping through. When changing core aspects of the game, like LOS mechanics, you’ll likely break related stuff you didn’t think of, that’s normal. That’s what testing is normally meant to discover. When adding an achievement (or POI as another example), it’s a matter of do it / go there once. Obviously, not even that works with ANet’s QA. Which they prove with every single patch. Now talking about fixing more severe bugs, those aren’t fixed for weeks and months (I could name some class bugs now, but speaking in general). There’s a reason Jon created this thread, apparently people are upset about their work beyond normal levels. The Glassdoor review pretty much confirms that they have severe QA problems.
So there’s really not much to defend about their inferior testing and bug fixing practice.

Most of them don’t "whine" because they can’t get their achievement / reward but because this is yet another broken update. There have been almost no changes at all in this update, still they managed to break it. And nobody believes that this didn’t occur in their test environment or that this ever went through QA. They screw something up with every single update, no matter how small. I’m actually afraid of updates because because they usually break more stuff than they fix.

Upgrading the commander system and UI is on our goal list. It’s a complicated task, requiring lots of resources however, which means it isn’t going to happen overnight. Believe me though, I find our commander system almost entirely lacking in useful functionality.

You could start by making clicking the map commander icon to join a squad work, this has been broken forever. Fix existing bugs before introducing new ones features.

It’s certainly one of the options we discussed, however it brings us right back to the initial problem we set out to solve, a large part of the player base was asking for more exciting and difficult open world content in our top end areas. The original version of Orr events were painfully easy, they didn’t scale well, mobs evaporated into thin-air and you had to race to even get a hit in before they died to get credit for kills.

The ideal balance point we’d like to have is with the scaling and more exciting encounters we have now, so it’s actually fun and at least remotely challenging to play there, but also rewarding as well. The reward systems we want to roll out to support those areas are part of a larger reward revamp and aren’t done yet, but are on their way and tie more strongly into the comprehensive system we’re trying to develop, thus the swap.

In regards to regular mobs hitting for insane damage, we did find a bug about a month ago causing many of them to scale way out of proportion, it has since been fixed and normal bosses in Orr should be doing damage on par with other bosses in the game. If you find any that are still nutso, please give us a shout, the intent is they should be fun/challenging, not one-hit-wonders.

Hope that helps give more insight into what we’re trying to do here, these changes are directly tied to feedback we’ve received. You don’t have to agree with them, but it’s important we explain why we’re doing them so folks understand the end goal, which I don’t believe we’ve reached yet until the rewards are there as well.

And now off to do that work thing, thanks for the feedback folks, as always keep it coming we really appreciate it!

A major problem with your new event scaling is that champions turn into “one-hit-wonders” as you put it the more players are around, but the little visual indicators giving a clue for an incoming attack, if at all, can barely be seen because of the amount of players, additional mobs and effects around, which means you’ll likely get oneshot by a random attack you just couldn’t see coming.

Cripple and some damage, not heavy damage since it’s still an AE attack, but also not the laughable damage it often deals as of now. Say: auto-attacking is more efficient.

The movement is meant to help this attack hit moving targets, which is its primary purpose as a skill which reduces movement speed.

The frame limiter has been broken since... well, it has always been broken. Are you playing fullscreen oder windowed? You could use an external frame limiter, but only if you’re playing in fullscreen.

I run an i7 920@3Ghz and GTX650. I’ve got everything on high with a few tweaks to optimize performance with extremely stable 40+ fps. This PC is 3 years old except for the GPU, I do not claim it should run zerg vs zerg at 60 fps on highest … yet some people with similar setups do exactly that. Such claims are dishonest.

I’m running a similar, slightly more powerful, system (i7-920 @3,5GHz and GTX 670) and no, it isn’t. It’s not low-end hardware and even with an overclocked Haswell, you’ll end up with ~30FPS in zergs, the GPU barely matters. It’s just bad optimization, a single thread eating up too many cycles. They knew what they were programming, it should have been clear from the start that this wouldn’t work out.

No they aren’t. A “very bad situation” would mean they’re almost bankrupt, which obviously is far from true. It’s probably quite the opposite, because MMO players are dumb sheep. But their internal processes seem to be screwed up, probably some important team members having left plays a role there. They simply have management problems leading to quality issues.

Since he was still studying not long ago according to his profile, he’s not been an NV employee for long. Also, we don’t know what exactly he does there. And finally, we don’t know what they have done in the last eight months after this was posted. But I guess not much has changed about this, since I know other guys working at NV on guru3d, beyond3d, 3dcenter and so on, and the last I heard of them was NV basically abandoned working on GW2 performance improvements because there’s not much they could do about it (I was asking for fixes to ambient occlusion and AA bits and got this answer). That information also is a few months old though.
Actually, you don’t have to be an NV employee to see that there’s not much GPU driver optimizations could do about GW2’s horrendous CPU load issues.

Just FYI it does not happen all of the time but we do have a 100% reproducible case now and are working on a solution. I’ll check in on an ETA when I get a chance.
